Dr. Koditek is amazing. This review has nothing to do with his level of service, knowledge or experience. On the other hand, there is a staff member there that can be very rude and passive aggressively judgmental with any option you choose that is not hers. At first, she comes off helpful, then she starts judging you and your choice of frames. To say the least, I felt belittled and not treated with respect. I normally don't go out of my way to submit bad reviews, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully brace any future or existence customers that go to Carbon Valley Eye Care. It's unfortunate that that one experience is making me contemplate taking my business elsewhere. My suggestion as someone who has worked in customer service for 12 years, it might be a good idea to have some sort of frequent customer service training (there are plenty of online trainings that don't cost much and would really help staff make customers feel respected and welcomed) it's such a simple skill that unfortunately for some has to be learned. read more

My family and I have been going to Dr. Berger and Dr. Koditek for several years (long before they opened this office in Frederick. I do highly recommend them both however I cannot say the same for the office staff or the lab that makes their lenses. The glasses I purchased were loaded with all the extras (anti-glare, anti-scratch, polycarbonate, photo sun, etc.) however within a year I noticed that the lenses seemed cloudy and no amount of cleaning made it better. I took them to the office and they replaced the lenses under a 2 year warranty. Thought everything was good. Unfortunately when I went back to replace them again for the same issue (called crazing) I was told that they couldn't honor the warranty on the replacement lenses as the warranty only covered the first pair! Worse yet, the woman I spoke with insisted that the only way that this would occur is if I left them in extreme heat which I had not. It didn't matter, she insisted that "everybody does this when they take them off and leave them on the dash" (something that I never do!). It didn't matter, she was convinced that the issue was mine and only due to my leaving them in a high temp environment - couldn't be anything else! Interestingly my record showed these lenses being replaced twice for this issue and somehow I don't have any recollection of that. I suspect that it really is a quality issue with the lab that this office uses as I purchased a different set of glasses from an eye doctor in Firestone (scheduling issue trying to get in with CV Eye Care) and haven't had any issues with crazing of the lenses for that pair. My wife recently took her glasses back to CV Eye Care for the same reason (first time) and they replaced the lenses without any issue (she spoke with someone else). The lack of customer service from this woman and the real possibility that they are using an inferior lab for their lenses makes it clear to me that I should take my business elsewhere. read more

I am veteran and I get glasses from the VA. I broke the nose piece and went into Carbon Valley Eye Care to see if they could repair them. Everyone was so nice and pleasant. They repaired my glasses and when I asked them what I owed they said nothing. I would highly recommend this company. Great people. read more

**UPDATE** Modified rating to 4-stars It's important to update my earlier review so everyone has the full picture. Carbon Valley Eye Care is an excellent team! You will not be sorry with their services. The unfortunate delay I experienced, which I detailed in my original review below, was not necessarily their fault. Basically it boils down to a delay at one of their labs. But I don't want to focus on that. Instead, it's more important to focus on the attention I received and their efforts to get the glasses in as quickly as possible to correct this not-typical delay. Rhonda and Fawn both excelled at responding to this unfortunate problem and achieving an excellent customer service experience. Yes..., there was a bit of a delay; but they responded quickly and proactively worked the situation to, in the end, achieve a positive result. -----------------Earlier Review Below------------------------------------- Normally, I would have given Carbon Valley Eye Care a 4-star rating (never give a 5-star rating because perfection is not attainable). But they are getting 2-stars today. I have been waiting 6-weeks since my exam for my new glasses to arrive when it was originally scheduled for 3-weeks. When I called 2-weeks ago to find out when they would arrive, I was told they are being finished and should hear from them any day. Now today after waiting 2-weeks, I called again and guess what... they gave me the exact same response. After paying over $700 for new glasses, I'm am very disappointed to be waiting over 6-weeks for them to arrive. Especially when the eye exam with Dr. Koditek was outstanding. So pay attention here -- I'm not frustrated with CVEC about everything. The exam with Dr. Koditek was excellent. He was very polite, professional, personable, and made the experience very pleasant. I was impressed at his knowledge and expertise. For an excellent eye exam and friendly professional service, CVEC is definitely the place to go. I know at this point we are all dealing with supply-chain delays. In my working profession and industry I know all about supply-chain problems. But 6-weeks for a pair of glasses seems excessive. My son and I just left...and I was VERY impressed! Having just moved from CA, trying to find services, at least wondering how they really are...is hard at times. I read the reviews, after a phone call to arrange our appts., was feeling very confident that this was going to be a good fit (and they are so close to where we live!). I came away, feeling even more so. We were both seen in 1.5 hours, much less time than I had expected, and that was with a LOT of explaining happening in the exam room. Dr. Koditek took great care and time to explain anything we needed to know, and listen to us. I have never enjoyed getting my eyes examined, as every device, esp. lights cause my eyes to water, and I barely can keep my eyes open. The pre exam, was so easy, no puffs of air! The exam itself easy, yet thorough, and I was able to keep my eyes open, even with the light, something I have NEVER been able to do. And he explained why my eyes are now dry, why I need to change due to a more mid distance than I had before. Never once feeling like I was being talked down too. My wife and I recently became patients at Carbon Valley Eye Care, and after our first appointment today, we could not be happier about our decision to switch to CVEC. After a bad experience with our previous optometrist's office, we had a few questions regarding our insurance compatibility with CVEC. Madonna went above and beyond in answering these questions for us well before our first appointment, alleviating all of our concerns. The entire staff - Madonna, CJ, and Dr. Koditek - was extremely friendly and helpful. They each made our visit a very pleasant experience! Both my wife's and my previous two eye exams with our prior optometrists felt rushed, and we ultimately walked away not feeling too confident that our prescriptions were completely accurate. Dr. Koditek, on the other hand, took his time explaining each aspect of the exam and ensured that our final prescriptions were correct. My wife and I both agree that we've never felt more comfortable than we do now with our updated prescriptions. Worst eye care place I have ever experienced and I've worn glasses for 30 years. The doctors are terrible. I took my daughter to a specialist after going to carbon valley. The specialist contradicted everything the doctors at carbon valley told us. Also the glasses we purchased has a damaged lens and they should have seen this when they cut them. A new eye doctor, Dr. Koditek, has taken over this shop and I highly recommend him to any and all poindexters out there like myself. Dr. Koditek is knowledgeable, with all the latest techniques and equipment, and is the damn-hell most amiable and friendly doctor I've ever been privy to. A small-town optometrist, perhaps, but you wouldn't know it by the great selection of glasses offered in the store. Dr. Koditek's staff is also very likeable, helpful, and easy to deal with. I've been going here for several years because it's close to where I live. I use VSP and have found this provider to be more affordable than some others who want to max out my VSP and charge me another $220 for glasses, etc. I like Dr. Lindsay a lot and think she is very caring and knowledgeable. I've always felt well taken care of... I do feel the glasses selection is somewhat limited and bought my last pair at Target because their selection is huge. I suspect a smaller office like this cannot compete with a huge chain store, anyway, keeping an expanded inventory. Not sure what other reviewers are talking about, because I've received the prescription every time I've gone without asking for it. Their prices on contacts are competitive with online providers. They've also been sure to provide the rebate forms that are currently available. read more

Dr. Wright is fantastic! This practice has so many gadgets and high-tech equipment. I am kind of a technology geek, so I guess I really like that stuff. Everything is computerized, even the eye chart. Firestone is a small town, and this is a small practice. But, it is cool, with great style and selection. The staff knew all remembered me, and I had only been in once before. This is the kind of place that makes me love Firestone. Small town service but with Denver/Boulder technology. This was my first time getting glasses so I don't not have much to compare my experience to but I must say that Dr. Koditek and his staff were phenomenal. Both my husband and I had our eye exams and glasses ordered here and we both left happy. Dr. Koditek took the time to explain everything he was doing and left no question unanswered. However the real fun began after the exam, picking frames! I probably spent half an hour trying on frames from their vast selection (Oakley, Vogue, Ray Ban, etc.) and both of our glasses were ready for pickup in less than a week. I went here twice, and after the second time, decided to take my business elsewhere. I was also surprised that they did not give me a copy of my prescription. I know that they are a small business but I need to be able to explore my lens and frame options. I was in several times between my two visits for adjust the glasses I purchased and noticed that their turnover rate for staff seems high. Their professionalism is sub par. Dr. Koditek is very knowledgeable and friendly. He takes the time to help create understanding for any given scenario. He does a thorough exam and has a knack for explaining himself. I am really impressed with Carbon Valley Eye Care. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable, and Dr. Wright is by far the best eye doctor I've ever had. She is patient and thorough, and she makes it a point to stay up on the latest technology in eye care. Her expertise is more than evident. They also have a great selection of frames, and they are willing to take the time to get to know your personal needs and help you select lenses and frames that are best suited for you. My glasses were ready quickly, and I received an invoice right away. I didn't have any trouble using my EyeMed insurance either. I travel from Denver to Firestone to see Dr. Wright because I know that she will ensure all of my eye care needs are met, and I like the vibe I get in a smaller office setting. Dr, Koditek is so friendly and easy to communicate with about eye concerns. Of all the optometrists I have used, he is the first to thoroughly explain why I have dry eyes and how to effectively solve the problem beyond recommending eye drops. Dr. Koditek was recommended by another optometrist (who was out-of-pocket for us) after my daughter needed to see someone after getting a paper "telescope" to the eye yesterday. Even though I called later in the day, they quickly figured out how to get me into the schedule, which I was grateful for b/c my daughter was obviously in some pain. The staff was friendly and Dr. Koditek worked hard to engage my daughter (6 yrs. old) as he did the exam. He explained everything very well, did not send us away with pricey antibiotic drops b/c he deemed them unnecessary, and gave us his cell phone number in case anything changed overnight and we needed to contact him this morning. Competent doctor but incredibly hard to deal with this office. The concept of "convenient hours" isn't something they've apparently ever considered and they'll bury you with reams of unnecessary and duplicative paperwork that must be completed and brought with you to your vist. Their eyeglass selection is low-end and limited, thankfully I don't generally wear my glasses in public so "made do" with the least ugly pair of frames I was able to fine. This office is 2 miles from my house but I will NOT be going back for next years exam - I'll gladly drive 15 miles into Longmont to go to an office that wants to work with me instead of against me. read more

They accepted my EyeMed insurance then charged me over and above on every aspect of my glasses. What should have cost me $60 (according to my insurance) cost $152 by the time they were done adding on "Premium upgrades". Total bait and switch. Will NEVER go back!! read more
