I really wanted to like this place and had been going for several years, until... they just weren't able to help me any further, and I did not want to be left with inadequately corrected vision that was affecting daily life, work, and driving. A couple years ago, they did not quite get the prescription right and it had to be adjusted a few times. Although still a little fuzzy, I decided I could live with it. Fast forward a year and a half, the lack of clarity was becoming more problematic. During my most recent visit, they did not want to make any changes, and actually wanted to send me home with a reduced prescription. I decided to just try to deal with it for a couple weeks, but my uncorrected vision was becoming problematic. When I brought up my concerns, the response was disappointing. They did not answer the question, their response did not make sense, and it was essentially dismissive. Heartbreak. Of course, they have a right to stand by their own professional opinion, and think they have the best intentions. After a month of dealing with inadequate vision after my appt with them, and realizing they did not want to provide any help or timely improvements, I ended up paying out of pocket to go see another eye doctor for a second opinion. In this way, I feel like they "stole" my annual eye exam that I get through vision insurance every year. After this experience, a friend who had gone there because I went there, related that they had some difficulties with this place as well. My friend requires glasses with a slight prescription for occupational reasons. While the doctor was very personable, and found need for slight correction, they were reluctant to do a glasses prescription. (One of the main reasons for going to the eye doctor, right?) After some insistence, my friend finally got set up with glasses, that they even paid good money for to get through this place's optical center. The bad experiences with this place are a shame because they seem personable enough, location is good, beautiful office - but, after giving them several chances, some of the things they do don't make any sense and, at the end of the day, what really matters is lacking. read more

Thank you Dr. Murphy for seeing me on a holiday. Definitely put my mind at ease. To see fine one minute and then see spots, feathers, and mists the next was definitely alarming. She explained everything to me so simply and carefully making sure I understood what was happening. I left her office feeling comfortable with my condition. read more

Dr. Murphy is NOT an OPHTHALMOLOGIST. She should correct this listing. If you are over 50, go to an ophthalmologist instead of optometrist Dr. Murphy. Her refraction skills leave a lot to be desired. My prescription was worthless. When I asked if I could be re-evaluated, I was told that I would have to pay for another eye exam. How professional! Imagine a job where you get paid to fail! An ophthalmologist is in training for over 13 years, is a medical doctor (M.D.), and can diagnose and treat eye diseases. An optometrist goes to post-graduate school for 4 years and is not qualified or licensed to diagnose or treat major eye diseases. They can only refer to an ophthalmologist. We have to educate people. Doctor Murphy says she likes technology, but only because it allows her to overcharge for her services, letting you think that she is a qualified medical doctor. AND... Her staff leaves a lot to be desired. They are the rudest people on earth, especially her receptionist. Don't waste your time with Dr. Murphy when you can see an ophthalmologist who can not only diagnose all eye problems, but write a prescription for eyeglasses and/or contacts. I last visited Dr. Murphy for my annual exam this past November 2019 and the staff you see face to face I would give a 100% rating. From Kara who does the initial intake (and still remembered me back from my first visits in 2010) to the Doctor herself I feel comfortable, at home, and give her my complete trust in my vision. So I LOVE Dr. Murphy and still drive from Southeast Aurora to her practice for my annual checkups. The only area in which she could improve is her back office staff. I seem to always have issues with requests not being fulfilled until the 2nd or 3rd attempt. This could be enough to turn away new or established patients. I have had to ask 2-3 times for my Optomap images before they are sent. I have asked for a billing credit that I am not sure has still been applied. These all make patients very frustrated and negate all the excellent work the Doctor provides. So Dr. Murphy and Kara get a full five stars... the practice could use some work and gets 4 for now. read more

Front Range Eye Associates was one of the best experiences I've had at an optometrists office. The staff all were very professional and friendly with a high service ethic. Mary Anne Murphy, D.O. of Front Range Eye Associates was great. She really knows her stuff! The only complaint I have was that they were running late and I wasn't notified. ( When I had a salon I notified clients if I was running more that 10 minutes late.) Anyway, I got a very thorough eye exam from a non- zombie like eye doctor! To me they were all the same. In their zombie voice " which is clearer, 1 or 2? OK, you're done, see you next year." Kinda like the teacher (I think) in Fast Times at Ridgemont High who switched to Sanka. What is that guy's name? He also does the eye drop commercial with the beach ball. Off track a little but you get my point. :) Dr. Murphy was a real, personable person who actually talked to me about my eyes and answered my questions about why people get farsighted and nearsighted at the same time and dry eyes. She explained about the glands getting clogged up and preventing tearing. I had to get my first pair of "old lady glasses" last month and was thoroughly traumatized! I make wedding jewelry for a living and suddenly (no kidding) I couldn't see my beads! So, I think I have some horrible eye disease that causes blindness and she assured me I was just getting older. I am 40 btw, so I should have seen this coming. (pardon the pun) She also gave me some samples for my dry eyes. My appointment lasted for over an hour and I felt that she really cared about my eyes. Dr Murphy is terrific. She really knows what she is doing and quickly accesses the situation and I have confidence in her opinion and diagnosis. She has a beautiful office and graduated from a great optometry school. She has all the latest and best information on eyes. read more

I randomly picked FREA a few years ago when I relocated to the Denver area. Dr. Murphy has a great practice with a friendly and professional staff. She explains all the test results and has made excellent contact lens recommendations. My eye sight has actually gotten better!!! read more

Great doctor and staff! Dr. Murphy has the wonderful combination of being smart, friendly and down to earth. She is very thorough and the office is high-tech. I love that you don't have to get your eyes dilated. She has an instrument called an Optimap that takes a picture of your eye. She can compare one year to the next how your eye has changed. I would recommend Front Range Eye Associates to anyone looking for a great optometrist. BTW they have a great selection of eye-ware too. read more

When I first walked into Dr. Murphys new office I was immediately impressed. Friendly staff, inviting displays and a comfy area to wait with my kids. Her staff is knowledgable and helpful, but we come to see her. She talks to my kids and listens to what they have to say. When my 11 year old faked her way into trying to get glasses- Dr. Murphy handeled it beautifully. Highly recommend FREA for the entire family! read more
