Arrived 14 min late for appointment. Tried to explain medical first responder for Covid-19 and had delay in coverage. Drove 45 min to get here and offered nothing but to reschedule. No options allowed to explore. Don't use this heartless place. read more

I scheduled an appointment because I was in desperate need of new lenses. Did not notice the text come in asking me to confirm appt. When I drove an hour and arrived, they said that because I didn't confirm, my appt was given away, I was rescheduled for a week later. A week later I had a great exam. Great optometrist. I gave them my lenses to trace for the new ones to be made. The tech (Mandy) traced and popped them back into the frames. I walked around the whole next day thinking that I was going blind, everything was blurry, till I realized she put the lenses back into my frames wrong. I was able to fix that myself. When I went back for my lenses in 2 weeks, the different tech told me they were cut wrong, way too big, and for me to wait another 2 weeks for them to be recut. (I'm guessing a mistake in the lense tracing :-( ) She was very blunt and showed no remorse for my troubles. I think she even giggled. Went back 2 weeks later, lenses cut wrong again! Too small this time. Very little remorse, and no attempt made to put a rush on them. Not happy. That's 5 90-minute round trips. read more

My bf isn't from this area and needed his eyes checked , and we were pretty sure he would need new glasses. He has insurance through his company, so we called them and they told him a few choices in the area and we chose this MyEyeDr because we knew where it was located . BIG MISTAKE. At least at this location there had to be 10 employees walking around . No one acknowledged us when we entered , bf had to wait at front desk several minutes to be checked in, and most importantly , they were the most unfriendly staff I've ever encountered. Especially the 'general manager' (thats what his name tag said anyway). He was so out right unfriendly. Newsflash : you aren't the only eye dr in this area. Next time we will find someone else to go to if we were that much of an inconvenience as your customer . Don't waste your time here. Find another optometrist. read more

Recently had an appointment at the Chambersburg location. Ordered contact lenses through my insurance, and was given a 30% discount to purchase glasses. After I arrived home I looked up the glasses online and saw they were significantly cheaper elsewhere. Called the office and asked them if they could match the price. They told me the person I needed to speak to was going to be off for a few days and someone would call me back. Four days later I got a return phone call from a girl who said it wasn't her job to call me back, she was just relaying the message for someone else that they could not price match and they could not refund my deposit. I had no choice but to pick up the glasses which cost me $167 MORE than they would have if I had bought them on framesdirect.com. This location has terrible customer service and their glasses are extremely marked up - even with the "discounts" that they offer. Do your research before you purchase anything through them. As for me and my family, we will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

I'd previously been going to Sterling Optical in Harrisburg and decided to try something a little closer. Should've checked the reviews first I guess. They kept trying to up sell these expensive frames and sure enough the girlfriend and I drank the kool-ade. I got a pair of Hatch Progresives that literally suck and she ended up with a pair of Choo frames strictly for reading to the tune of $480 out of pocket minus what ins paid. Strictly our fault but next availability we're going back to Sterling. read more

Went to the one at the Hagerstown Mall. The front desk staff was quite pleasant. The initial assistant who measured out my son's eyes for glasses was also pleasant. The next person, Sate ( I think that was the spelling) was a complete ASS!! My son is Deaf, cognitively disabled, and currently resides in a state facility. This guy showed little respect or regard for the fact that I, his father, and an interpreter were trying to establish communication so that my son could respond to his questions. He kept saying he knew how to work with people who can't hear and that we were making it hard for him. It's like he had no awareness of my son's cognitive disabilities. This guy got fed up after 5 min and walked out to get another Optometrist. Another OD. came in and was somewhat annoyed, but soon got down to business and found another way to get the info he needed to write a script, then became increasingly pleasant. I don't want to penalize the staff for one person's demeanor. I will say that the whole process seemed rushed. As for Sate, that guy is an asshole and I encourage everyone to refuse to have him assist you. read more

Went to the one on Conamar Dr in the Northend - waited maybe 10 minutes before the exam started. The dr was very thorough and explained everything extremely well. Showed me the pics of the inside of my eyes and explained and showed me the areas of concern. Needed new lenses and was told would be in around Feb 5,2018. They called me Jan 31 and they were in ! I have absolutely NO problems with this location and would highly recommend ! read more

The doctor was very good, the managers worked to make it run well. Mitchell was a life saver in getting my glasses before deploying.

The staff was very friendly and the doctor was really nice and very thorough. However, the prices of the frames were out of this world! So very expensive! My insurance doesn't cover the glasses and the prices were extremely high for what they were. I don't understand why they only offer brand names that cost too much and not have something for normal, working people. I am not sure if I will return when I need to, if I do, I will not buy the glasses there! read more

Beware of MyEyeDr at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown Maryland I want their beginning of the year to get my eyes checked when I got the exam they checked me for bifocals yes I'm getting old they only check for my nearsighted not my farsighted and when I went into the waiting room to look for glasses the frames that I could afford they kept hidden until I told him look I'm on a budget please can you help me out and they brought them out a half hour later a week later I want to pick up my glasses my prescription was wrong in my frames are wrong and I ask for the manager to put my benefits back so I can go somewhere else and she said no I would have to to have them redo my prescription and glasses on my own dime because they have used up my insurance I I left my glasses there not only did they use up my insurance for the next two years they gave me the wrong prescription the wrong frames and the manager act like her s*** did not stink and I found out from my mom that they have done the same thing to her beware of this company they rip people off read more

Made an appointment and got a call to confirm appointment. Took off work early for appointment and when I got there they said you need to reschedule because your insurance won't pay until next month. Why didn't tell me that when I made the a appointment . This is the last straw of their overprice, disorganized business. Worst vision experience ever! The place opens at 9 a.m. I had a 9 a.m. appointment but still had to sit there for 45 minutes before a technician saw me. Then I finally saw the optometrist at about 10. I ordered progressive lenses and single vision sunglasses. Each pair of glasses had to be sent to the lab four separate times before they were delivered in acceptable condition. On one occasion the lab broke my sunglasses frames trying to force ill-fitting lenses into them. My original "promise date" was June 26, 2017. I just picked up my final pair today, Aug. 21, 2017. Unfortunately, I visited this location after Allegany Optical had undergone a corporate buyout and were changing management, but even if the new management gets the problems fixed at the local office, they will continue to have problems because of their affiliation with a lab with lacks craftsmanship and quality control. I won't be back and can't recommend them. read more
