Stopped by to use my paid for warranty to fix my kids glasses. Per the employee, the store manager does not honor the warranty if the glasses were purchased at a different location. This is National chain whose website instructs customers to "Bring your broken frames or glasses into any MyEyeDr. location for an evaluation." I was told to go the original store of purchase to have the warranty honored. Won't be going here again. read more

UNREAL! I went in for a regular eye exam for glasses and contacts. I came out with a $600+ bill without glasses or contacts. I've had glasses and contacts all my life, so almost half a century. I have never paid more than $200 at any place. I called Lens Crafters and Costco after seeing this bill. Sure enough--less than $200. read more

I was in that eye dr place years ago and got billed for $500+with insurance and I that eye dr place is scam in that eye dr place is a scam, they charged you with so much and the quality of their glasses are crap that I end up replacing them and never went back to that place coz of disapointment. This place is a joke. First, they broke my frame when they were fitting lenses. Second, I bought my own frame because they were only giving me 50% discount and I didn't want their frames, and they fitted the same lenses, which didn't fit. Third, they sent out my new frames again for lenses and it's been over a month since I've been waiting for my glasses. When I asked for expediting, they said they don't do that. The business has high employee turnover including the doctors and poorly trained associates who make basic mistakes when placing eyeglass orders. And that will cost you extra money. They can't submit exam results electronically to MVA or DMV or other Health care entities. Their portal doesn't allow ease of communication. Find better. read more

The MyEyeDr Hyattsville MD branch treated me terribly today, even though I went out of my way to make a reservation and put all my information -- including insurance -- on their website well before my visit today at 12:15 PM. I came early, and they still did not call me to well after 12:15 and there were 4 or 5 staff people around and very few customers. I have come to this branch before, and it had not gone so far downhill; it runs so poorly and is very poorly supervised. This Hyattsville MD branch used to be good -- I even met the Optomotrist several times, However, even though he was at the front desk, the Optomotrist seemed very aloof today and did not get around to seeing me (nor show any interest in my insurrance problem). The MyEyeDr system said my insurance had expired, when I had just changed plans in 2023 -- and both plans were with United HealthCare so they explained it well to me). I called my insurance on my cell and got someone who verified that it was active and said MyEyeDr was on their United HeachCare (UHC) network. It did not matter, no one in the staff seemed to care, and the receptionist running the computer system seemed to be the supervisor for all the customer service issues of this operation. So, I got the UHC insurance people on my cell -- and that took some time -- and the MyEyeDr folks all refused to listen to my inssurance company explain the problem. Apparently, Senior Citizens and Medicare coverage (up to $300 annually) is no longer welcomed in MyEyeDr branches. I will go to the competition, which has always had better customer care. The person who I spoke once I got there on 1/10/2024. It's seems her statement was that I would try and made a mockery her decorum to me as customer. Her office manager was also disrespectful to me and stated we also do not take accept Medicaid at all. This company is very not professional to anyone. I recommend that you go elsewhere. I did not see the Doctor here but the staff was very rude and dismissive. The sign on the door says to call when you arrive so they will let you in however, they will not answer the phone. The staff member looking directly at us did not budge to come to the door. After a while some one finally came to the door and was very rude. The staff also do not seem to be cleaning the glasses after customer try them on which is very concerning.Additionally, the selection of glasses at this location is quite lack luster. My mother and I were interested in comparing prices between Kaiser's & Eye Dr's bifocal glasses. When we approached the front counter, we were greeted by a rather unsatisfied employee. Her disdain for customer service matched her inabilities to communicate and sufficiently perform simple tasks. At one point she ran off into the backroom with my transcripts without clarifying to us what her intentions were. However, luckily the store's associate manager, Zeeshan, was there to redeem the horrendous service. He recommended me cool glasses at an affordable price. Zeeshan if you're reading this, thank you again for the sale, but you need to train certain staff members the fundamentals of hospitality or unfortunately castigate them. read more

Service was fine once I was in the store. Unfortunately, once they've got your money, things aren't so easy. Their portal isn't letting me sign up. The non-specific HTTP 500 Internal Error message is all I get. Maybe customer support can help me sign up for the portal or else just tell me the status of my glasses (now two weeks on). I don't know though, because I've sat on hold for 30+ minutes twice now. The call center has no automatic way of getting answers and no human seems available to help. They're blaming it on Covid-19 - fine. Hire the help you need to get the job done. Covid-19 didn't stop them getting my $400. read more

As others have mentioned. The Optometrist was very professional and friendly. The rest of the staff is more interested in talking to each other. I had several issues and they would look at each other and smerk. I had requested a written script and they forgot to give it to me. When I came back from driving several blocks to get they didnt apologize for the inconvenience. I had requested to not have a few of the upgrades they had suggested. I waited several months to write this review because I wanted to get a second opinion. The optometrist at MyEyeDr was friendly but abruptly prescribed expensive bifocals in response to a comment I made about recently having problems seeing small text. I asked if bifocals were really necessary. I'm in my 30s and usually remove my glasses when I read. She said yeah, they're necessary, didn't explain why or address possible alternatives, and hurriedly wrote the Rx. All of this based on a ten minute examination (this was the first time she had seen me) and one passing comment. Then came the aggressive pitch from the MyEyeDr sales representative. Bifocals are, of course, 2-3X more expensive than regular lenses. The sales rep reminded me of Don Beadle's character in Boogey Nights. These bi-focals have the bi-est quality focus. 2.8 quads per channel. You're gonna want that. I decided to seek a second opinion before purchasing lenses. I'm glad I did. First, I discovered that many people are uncomfortable with bifocals and prefer to go without. I tried to raise this with the optometrist but she curtly dismissed the question with no real explanation or discussion. Second, when I finally had time for a follow up appointment with another optometrist, the diagnosis was much different. Not only did the second optometrist not prescribe bifocals, but when I asked if they might be a possibility in the future, he said probably not for at least another few years and only then after after significant thought and discussion -- something I would expect from any optometrist. Bottom line, MyEyeDr tried to force expensive and unnecessary bifocals on me with very little discussion or explanation. Second opinion confirmed no, I don't really need bifocals. Proceed with caution at MyEyeDr. read more

I had my exam at another location and came here, because it is closer to home, for my glasses. I was pleased with the staff, they were friendly and polite. Perhaps a little too casual with each other with clients in the building (having conversations about lunch), but it didn't bother me, although I would caution that it might really upset some clients. read more

Punishing experience. The optometrist is decent, but the staff is pushy and deceitful. After my eye exam I was given the opportunity to buy contacts at twice the cost as my preferred vendor, so I declined. The sales person said she would price match so I agreed. She also lied and told me I was paying less when I was paying much more, using the insurance deductible as a smokescreen. I didn't notice until after I paid that the price was much higher after insurance. I made another trip to ask for some accountability, only to be told I needed to talk to the manager who was not in, does not know when she would be back, and she would call me. The manager never call me. In the meantime they committed insurance fraud by charging my insurance for services not rendered and I still don't have my contacts. If you don't mind being lied to, gaslighting and making multiple trips for nothing, the location is nice, parking is never an issue and the optometrists are decent. read more

I visited this location today. The two staff people that I interacted with were unhelpful and unfriendly. They exhibited no customer service skills at all. I guess it was because I had a living social coupon when I showed it to the one of the associates she seemed offended by it. They asked if I had a prescription and I asked if they could get it from my glasses they both yelled, "no!" I had a prescription from Kaiser and asked if I could have it faxed over and one of the said yeah but only if it's valid. They didn't ask when I had gotten it. I had to ask for the fax number and she started to tell me. I asked if they have a business card and she said no. I looked to my right and a business card holder with business cards but she said the fax number was wrong. She reluctantly wrote the number on a dark purple post it note. I left and went to the My Eye Dr location in Greenbelt, MD. The difference was night and day. I received a friendly greeting and asked what my visit was for. I showed the associate the living social coupon and she replied that's great! I needed a new prescription and was scheduled for the first available appointment at 3:45 pm. The associate spoke to the Dr. and was told he could fit me in before lunch so my wait was only 1/2 hour. The Dr. was great and the exam was thorough. I am so happy I had a bad experience at Route One or else I would have never left and had such a great experience at the Greenbelt location. I am bringing my husband and son to the Greenbelt location this Saturday for an exam and glasses. I told them about my experience at the Route One location and they apologized for their behavior. I will never return to the Route One location again and will take every opportunity to tell everyone I know including my family (most of us where glasses) about my bad experience at Route One. read more

I've been coming here for years as I live in the neighborhood and unfortunately they messed up big enough for me to never come back. I went in for an updated eye exam for contacts and mentioned to the sales associate that I also may want glasses but was unsure if my insurance would cover both. When the associate looked up my plan she told me what I could get and for how much and the rest was covered. I agreed and paid as it was within my budget. Come to find out I got slammed with a bill in the mail DOUBLE what I *already* paid in the office thy day. All because *oops* the associate was wrong and told me the wrong information. I'm pissed because if I knew I had to pay this much I would have NEVER gotten the glasses and contacts at once. Ridiculous and never going back. If you go here I suggest you know your vision plan 100% because chances are the associates may read your plan wrong. Smh read more

Big shout out to the wonderful staff at My Eye Dr. On Baltimore Avenue in Hyattsville next to Busboys and Poets. The staff is supper friendly, professional and extremely knowledgable about their products. I was nervous about pricing and understanding what my insurance covered. But the staff explained things thoroughly. I even found out that my previous doctor had not prescribed the correct lenses for my eyes. My daughters and I not only received excellent customer service we received some really great discounts which made purchasing both glasses and contacts affordable. read more

Meanwhile, the calendar year has passed and I've lost the ability to use my 2016 eye benefits because these people cannot seem to figure out how to place an order. Seriously, two months, multiple phone calls where I was told that the order had not been placed but they would place it, only to call back after hearing nothing to find out the order had not been placed. I just finished up here. I needed a last minute appointment due to leaving my current job for a new one and honestly I just wanted to get my "free" glasses. Well I let the sales associate know this upon checking in. She (can't remember her name) was knowledgeable and contacted my insurance Quality Plan Administrators to get the prior authorization. After this I was assisted by the salesman, Terry. Honestly, this review is about Terry's customer service. He took his time to understand my needs...a basic pair of glasses and not coming completely out of pocket, since it's the bare minimum of "DC government" vision coverage. There selection of glasses seem a little outdated but we were able to find my basic cute, semi-updated frames. He even took time to help me get the price down. Again, because I refused to pay for glasses that were supposed to be free as DC government swears by in our vision coverage and benefit plans. So overall not a great selection but the customer service here helps you forget about the selection. Otherwise, I can be found at Warby Parker or See Eyewear getting more bang for my buck. I used to go to the MyEyeDr. in Silver Spring, and decided to try this one since we just moved to Cheverly. Bottom line: DON'T GO HERE. The service is incredibly slow (I've always waited at least 45 minutes for my appointments, and ordering glasses and contacts takes another hour or so), and I got the wrong prescription the first time I went. After two weeks of headaches, I went back and found out my prescription was way off. They were willing to sort things out for me, and I ordered new glasses. When I picked up my contacts, I assumed my glasses would be there, but was told it would be at least another three weeks before I get them. I don't have a back up pair, and this is a huge problem. They had promised me ten days to two weeks. They also charge outrageous prices for glasses and contacts, so be sure to check around before ordering anything from them. read more

I would give them 0 stars if it was an option. I went here while pregnant because I was running out of contacts but knew my prescription could change once I had my baby. They convinced me to purchase a year supply of lenses, saying if I had an issue I would be able to exchange them. When my prescription changed as expected and I tried to follow up regarding this they said that the real policy is only 90 days for adjustment, which was not communicated at the time. Since my baby wasn't due for another two months I would never have made this purchase under those terms. It hasn't been a year so my insurance won't cover me going in for another appointment/new contacts yet so I am stuck waiting or paying out of pocket. I will be taking my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same. They are solely focused on making a sale to a customer and not on what is best for a patient. read more

This is my second My Eye Dr location. Making the appointment was easy. I received a phone call reminder. Some of the staff may need some customer service training...just on how to keep everything professional at all times. After my exam with the Dr, who was great- she asked questions, had some suggestions for workplace lighting and told me my prescription from the previous visit was too strong, which im glad she said (I can't remember her name), Brice was great in helping me pick out the best glasses and get a good deal in conjunction with the Living Social deal and my vision insurance. I will be back as well as referring my friends who now live in the area as well. read more

They first sold me a bifocal saying it would be better than progressive for my need, put the line of the bifocal too high and when I wanted that corrected, they tried to argue with me that nothing was wrong and that I buy a progressive by paying $94 more. The staff here is friendly and personable. Even when they're short on staff they remain pleasant. They explain the services, procedures and prices and offer an overall great experience. I've been other places for eyeglass and optometry services, but MyEyeDr. Hyattsville have been the best. They were pleasant with me, as well as with my daughter, and made her feel comfortable, which is important. The only issue I have is that they're not open Sundays, but maybe that will change. read more
