Never really liked Visionworks as a kid, definitely don't like it more as an adult. Made an appointment and when I showed up they awkwardly said "yeah we tried to call you". Turns out when googling eye doctors for 5 yr olds and visionworks comes up it's not true. They don't see anyone till 7 years and up. I've been coming here for a few years now for my annual eye exams and my daughter recently had her first eye appointment here. We've had really good experiences with the doctors here and they are really thorough during the exam. However, some of the front office staff aren't the friendliest which is unfortunate because they are the people you encounter most . They have a nice selection of glasses and it doesn't take too long to get items once they are ordered. This location is convenient for me and there's usually always parking right in front. It hasn't been too crowded the times I've been and it's an extra bonus that they have Saturday appointments available. Overall, I will continue to visit this store. read more

Visited the Woodmore location for the second year in a row and was lucky enough to have Aracely, the same young lady who helped me last year. She was awesome. I had never used my vision insurance before because I just signed up for it for the first time this year. Aracely explained how it works and I'm so glad that she did! I was only coming in for an eye exam with the wonderful Dr. Westbrook to renew my driver's license online. But decided to get new glasses because of the info I was provided and how timely their service was. Both of them have awesome "bedside manners"! Because I used my new vision insurance. I was able to get one of my 2 pairs for free because it was covered by my plan, which I wouldn't have known! Thanks again to Aracely!! Dr. Westbrook filled out my paperwork for the MVA for my license renewal and volunteered to send it straight to MVA for me. I was so glad that I didn't have to worry about scanning it or uploading it myself. Before I even got home I was notified by email that MVA had received it. So all I had to do was get online for MVA and pay for my new license!! Scored points for Dr. Westbrook! I had also made an appointment for my aunt for the same day. She's not the easiest person to please, lol. But she loved her experience with both of them and was very happy with their service also! I also have to mention that quite a few customers came in while we were there. Aracely always greeted them as soon as they entered and let them know that she'd be with them soon. My sister also gets her glasses here and visited just a month ago to get her new glasses. She was very pleased with her shopping experience as well! So.....My goal was to complete an eye exam and potentially purchase frames. Once I realized that none of the frames were to my liking I asked for a copy of my prescription so that I could take it else where. I was given an unreadable copy with the excuse of "Our printer isn't working and sorry....we don't have email capabilities.". Not only is this excuse Unexceptable from a major eyecare establishment such as Visionworks....it's embarrassing. I was literally denied the choice of patronizing another vendor, brand, establishment because of "Low Toner". The "Printer issue" is so coincidental it could be looked at as on purpose to keep customers from obtaining frames elsewhere. A $50 fix could raise customer satisfaction reviews higher...just a thought. read more

The one star is ONLY for Dr.Westbrooke, the front desk receptionist, and the glasses selection. The biggest issue with this location is that IT IS SHORT STAFFED! Every. Single. Time!!! If you call on the phone it takes anywhere from 20-20 mins before diamond assist you. If you go inside. It takes even longer. Every time I'm there, there are only 1-2 ppl managing the front of the store. They sit you at a desk so someone can help you and it takes foreverrrr for someone to come. This has happened to me multiple times. If you have some where to go, do not come to this location for an appointment. I have been coming her for 3 years but next year I will be going somewhere else. This was an outstanding experience! I was leery because some of the reviews were less than positive and I had already had a bad experience at the Myeyedr in Bowie. But my vision was getting progressively worse and my reading glasses weren't cutting it anymore so I decided to give Vision works a try because a friend recommended it. The doctor was so patient and kind even though my appointment was a late one. She treated me like I was her first appointment of the day. The technician was also very patient. She explained my progressive lenses to me very clearly, both when I purchased them and when I picked them up. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well everything went. The only reason they get a second star is because this location is probably great for those that live in the vicinity of the shopping center. This is because they have the comfort of knowing they can go home, start cooking, read a book and probably catch the first half of a tv show marathon before anyone will acknowledge them in the store. Then if they do acknowledge you, they take forever to actually assist you. I visited this location solely to obtain glasses. The manager is rude and made choices for me regarding my glasses without informing me of the choices until I asked (determining the index of the lenses). I ordered two pairs and then I was called to pick up my glasses. When I arrived, I was told that the second pair was not ready and when I commented, to another employee, that I wish I'd been made aware in the phone call, the same manager rudely interrupted me to tell me why the glasses were delayed and I again expressed my wish that someone had told me so I wouldn't have had to make two trips. If I could give a ZERO I would. They are the worst when it comes to keeping appointments on time for the patients. My husband scheduled his appointment for 10:00. We arrived at 9:45 and got checked in. He sat and waited til about 10:45. He asked the lady why the long wait and she said "oh we forgot all about you"!!!!! I normally only write reviews if I've had outstanding service (to acknowledge and recognize businesses) however, this review is the total opposite. I am unsure if there is new management at this location (or if the workers are just THAT careless) but today was my second time showing up for an appointment only to be told that someone scheduled (my 10 year old daughter) for a telehealth visit. When I walked into this office, I was told that the Dr. doesn't come into the office on Thursdays and she was not sure why someone rescheduled me for an in office visit. Extremely frustrated, I explained that this was the second time that this has happened to me and it was unacceptable. The first time, a female called me literally 5 min before my daughters appointment to tell me the same thing (that someone scheduled my daughter for a telehealth visit and the Dr. doesn't come in the office on Saturdays). How are "mistakes" like this able to continue happening without staff being reprimanded? It is now about 3 weeks left prior to school starting again and I am now unsure if my daughter will have her new glasses (which i KNOW she needs) in time. This is unacceptable and after my daughter is actually seen (on the next day that was scheduled), I will be sure to complete a formal complaint in person as well. I am also currently in the process of finding a new eye Dr. for my child. read more

This is my second time visiting this location. The first time was in 2021 and the second in 2022. This location doesn't anticipate that they will receive an influx of visitors after 5pm. I even asked the employee and she stated its a company standard. There is only two staff members working and 8-10 people waiting for assistance. This was the case in 2021 as well. I hope the management will consider hiring more employees to man the floor during their busiest time periods. Next year , I will be choosing another eye company because no one has time to wait knowing the business is short staffed. The employee were nice , they seem to be used to having a rush at the end of the day so they move at a slow pace. First timer with the Visionworks brand. The Check-in process & eye exam was pretty quick, however, the ordering phase was not. It was after 5pm on a weekday when I arrived for my scheduled appt. About 3-4 patients were ahead of me. Afterwards, the ordering process was lengthy, assuming bc it was somewhat busy. At least 35 minutes had passed between the time my exam was done and the time I placed my contact order. Everyone was helpful & warm and I accomplished what I wanted. Maybe adopting a queue system or implementing a better way of tracking patients once their exam is done would improve overall visit time. Total time elapsed: almost 2 hrs. eek. I took my son to an appointment with Dr. Westbrook ( I believe that's her name). The doctor was amazing she was so sweet and she even took the time to thoroughly explain to my son his vision, how was changed, showed him the difference which I really appreciate it. And Mr. George the manager was oh my gosh so sweet! The assistant when you first walk in the door was not very welcoming maybe she had a bad day but she eventually warmed up as I kept being nice to her and telling her thank you. I hadn't had an eye exam pushing well into 3 years and I finally got tired of squinting through my glasses, and made it a point to come here since it's not far from my house. I called early on a Tuesday morning and they were able to see me at 1pm that afternoon. JUST the kind of swift service I am looking for. One I got around to Dr. Westbrook, I was SOLD on this location. What a sweet, demeanor she has! She was patient, gentle, kind and took her time with hearing my questions concerns and even on helping me choose a different brand of contact lens since I was no longer happy with my toric soft lenses. Within 7 days I had contacts to last me 12 months and a pair of new fly ass matte Guess frames! I will definitely recommend others to come here and visit this store. Absolutely fantastic! read more

This is my first time going to Visionworks. I really enjoyed the doctor who took good care of me and gave me some good pointers for my contacts. I'm glad to see that the eye care establishment are upgrading their testing to detect diseases. I gave this place 3 stars because the staff desperately needs training in customer service. Fussing at the front desk, being confused on what needs to be done, not informing the doctor she has a patient waiting and not checking your insurance prior to arrival what you are qualified is not good customer service and can be a bad turn off. I received A+ customer service! I was concerned when I agreed to a 10 am appointment. My normal experience at 1st appointments at other offices is to sit in my car until someone arrives, or the staff is just arriving and I have to wait for them to set up. Not here! They opened the doors at 10 and were ready for customers! I was seated immediately to review my information and Dr. Westbrook was right there to greet me. She has such a pleasant, gentle spirit. Following my very thorough eye exam, I went to view their ample eyeglass frame selections. Too many choices! Not a bad thing, but it took me forever to select one! I finally did, was fitted, and out of there in little more than an hour. I was told my glasses would be ready in 10 days or less - I picked them up in 6 days. Love them! Dr. Westbrook has been taking care of my eyes for the past 5 years. She is very thorough, informative, has a calm personality and most of all, you know she cares. 2 years ago I had an emergency check up and they squeezed me in for an appointment the same day. She checked everything and recommended me to an awesome Ophthalmologist - Dr. Kolsky. The staff upfront are very nice - especially Jeanette. There was one who had an attitude but I think she left already - otherwise, she will give a bad impression to this particular branch of VisionWorks. Overall, I kept coming back to this branch because I know I can trust my delicate eyes to Dr. Westbrook. Thank you doctor, you make me feel safe and always take care of. read more

I made a mistake going into this place without checking the reviews. I've been wearing glasses ever since I was in elementary school. I never encounter someone who is not knowledgeable. I went to pick up my glasses. It made me almost dizzy wearing them. I questioned the prescription and showed concerns that there was something wrong with the glasses. The guy who was sitting at the front desk could not identify the problems. When I told him that it's making me dizzy, he looked at me helplessly and did nothing to help. I asked if the prescription has changed. The doctor told me the prescription will be the same and the glasses should be fine with the prescription. He said he does not know. I was confused, and I had to find it myself to make it right. Then, I found the glasses were not even on the floor, and asked him specifically to make it straight. He adjusted it a little. I wore them to find that they were tilted and not straight on my face. He told me everyone's face is not symmetrical. He was blaming my face for the glasses to be tilted instead of fixing the glasses to make it fit. I had to show him my old glasses that I was wearing to show how straight they were on my uneven face. Even though everyone might have asymmetrical face, they all wear glasses that are well adjusted to their face. He went back and forth and they were still not straight. They were uncomfortable. The prescription felt wrong. I told him they were fine when I was trying them on which is the reason why I chose it. He said it was the demo, and they are not used for my glasses. I had to question him whether they were different models because if the demo works on my face perfectly, then the one I'm wearing should also fit me too. Finally someone else came to help me. The prescription felt wrong and I felt dizzy because the glasses were not sitting on my face right. I hope he learns how to adjust glasses. I'm not coming back to this place. I do NOT recommend this place to other people especially for kids and someone who is wearing glasses for the first time. read more

I have been a Visionworks customer for a long time. In the past, I have gone to the one on Richmond Hwy. But jobs changed so I went to Woodmere Towne Center. I never had a problem, nor do I recall having any difficulty. At Woodmere, everything was going great, great service, great prep for eye exam, doctor was great. I was pleased until I sat down to order my new frames. First she asked about my insurance. Not a problem, but then I noticed her tone and interaction with me also changed. I have Medicaid. The associate who served me (don't know names, but her "desk" was the closest to the exam room, she may have been the more Sr person on the floor, and had a gait that stood out) didn't offer to help me select my frames, only asked "which do you want?" It's been my experience and I watched/listened to other associates taking their time to really help their customers with a selection. I got none of that. Then instead of letting me know options like scratch resistance, non-glare, transitions, she rings up the cost of my lens. I actually had to say to her that it was like pulling teeth to have her tell me what options were available to me under my insurance. It almost felt like because I had Medicaid, I would not have been able to afford anything else. I have never experienced this kind of judgement and would highly suggest further training. The other thing that was disturbing was when all three associates were talking about a customer who had come into the store and had been upset. I am sure, upset customers are dealt with daily, however, talking openly about them with other customers sitting in the same space is unprofessional. That only had me thinking what do they say when other people leave the store. The lack of professionalism. read more

They are always so professional on the phone and in person. Its refreshing to receive quality service. I was greeted with a friendly smile soon as I came in for my appointment they acknowledge me. The front desk had my form ready and she was very polite. Dr. Westbrook knows her stuff and she was very kind and patient during my appointment. After my appointment George was awesome and very professional! He asked me if I was interested in glasses and the style. He helped me pick out some styles and explained how my insurance benefits would be applied. Even when it was time to pay I gave him my card and he explained again the benefits and total. He then asked if it was ok to swipe my card. He explained how long my RX was good for and placed the items nicely in the folder. Top notch service and I will be back next year for my exam. read more

Had an appointment at 3:20 just to pick up eyeglasses. It's 3:55 and i'm still in the waiting area waiting to be helped.

This location has been my location for about two years. It honestly feels short-staffed. Being short staffed can lead to high irritation towards the customers. I witnessed one staff member become short fused with a fellow coworker and even on a phone call. It was very unprofessional, I cannot remember her name. But also would hate to get her in any trouble. There is one employee there she is great! She's older and very generous. Can't remember her name also. His location has great deals and a variety of glasses. Dr. Westbrook is great and it seems like she really takes the time to get to know her customers. I hadn't seen here in a whole year and she asked me questions about things I previously spoke to her about during a visit. Even if she read her chart before my visit it was still great that she revisited an old topic about my eyes. read more
