Called on 8/4/2026, talked to someone at the front desk named "Catherine". She was disrespectful and rude. She has zero clue what she's doing and will never recommend this location due to the fact on how she treated me. Tried to run my insurance twice and said I didn't have insurance and she would look into it and call me back. I told her I do and I've been attending my eye dr for years. Long behold, never called me back and I waited hours. I called back and she acted all surprised. I asked her if she had any updates and she said "nope" and asked if she had my member ID number for my insurance that I left earlier on the phone to see if possibly she entered it in wrong, she snapped and said "mam' you need to take two steps back." Which is very unprofessional and inappropriate. The lady at the front desk was trying to "verify" I had insurance ok, sure I understand but it doesn't take more than 4 hours and for me to call again to ask is unprofessional. Even my insurance company said it takes less than 10 minutes for her to verify. I told the women from the jump that I already have approval, the insurance company already said so and it's in the system. I can guarantee since I've been attending my eye dr for years. The fact she couldn't get my member ID number correct nor my name, and when I tried to tell her it again she said that wasn't the issue.. but yet had difficulties "pulling me up in the system to verify". Funny enough I called on 7/2 made an appointment with another lady, she has no issue finding me in the system or verifying my insurance and took 5 minutes if that. I had made the appointment for 7/13 but I had to cancel, and today I tried to contact again. I've been going to my eye dr for years now outside this state, never had an issue. Doctors here are great, but front desk worker was disrespectful. Took my business elsewhere. Plenty of eye doctors to see in the city. No need to come here & deal with someone that miserable. read more

I was not told that a contact exam is extra and not covered by insurance. When I refused to pay they made me take out my contacts and put them in the garbage. They made me feel like it was my fault. I've been going to MyEyeDr for several years and was happy to find a location when I moved to NOLA. This particular location is very technologically advanced! Every aspect of the appointment was high tech. For example: I didn't have to deal with the hassle of getting my eyes dilated and having to wear protective eyewear out-- they had a machine that could do the job. Now, the primary highlight of my visit was being able to have a provider who looks like me!! Dr. Elumelu is fantastic! Very knowledgeable, relatable, and beautiful inside/out! As long as I live in NOLA, she will have a patient in me. I highly recommend her. On the adverse side, this place is a bit expensive lol. It seems that they only carry designer frames. I get both glasses and contacts, so the price was pretty steep (even with insurance). Aside from that, I have no complaints at all about my experience. read more

Based on my recent experience with the location on St Charles, I will not be returning as a long time customer. I showed up for an appointment that I confirmed via text message only to be told that I was suppose to be there an hour earlier for a special test. I was also told they tried calling to notify me. the front person asked the doctor if she would see me anyway. The doctor refused to accommodate this request even though she was in the back room passing idle time. I was told to reschedule and if it's not a convenient location, then to schedule at another my eye doc. My complaint is two fold: your texting policy of not including the exact time of an appointment and the doctor's refusal to allow the test to be performed on that day... especially on a day that only two of these special test are done and they literally had no one else in the office. I totally agree with other comments that this is not the type of service of the former owner, Dr Glassier. My advice to uptown residents is to transfer your eye care to a place that is more professional . But before I conclude, I do want to acknowledge that the eye technician, Sorrin, was excellent and very pleasant to work with in terms of customer interaction, professional knowledge and customer service. unfortunately, his team doesn't reflect his work values and level of professionalism. read more

From glancing at the reviews on here it's the reason why y'all's schedule is wide open. This is the first review I have ever left for a business. The customer service was so terrible that after 5+ years I am taking my business elsewhere. All I needed to do was pick up contact lenses that I have already paid for. I called My Eye Doc on St Charles at 4:58 saying that my ETA was 5:01 (they close at 5:00). My doctor was fabulous. The office staff\ billing dept. is absolutely clueless and could not care less. I paid my outrageous bill of almost $500 before I left the building and they still billed me another $140, but couldn't explain what it was for. Devin, whatever her position is, was somewhat helpful at first saying she would look into it. Then, disappeared off the face of the earth. I've been seeing an eye dr all of my adult life, I have never had an annual exam cost this much with insurance. I have been a patient MyEyeDr for at least 5 years. I usually make an appointment to get an eye exam and purchase a yearly supply of contact lenses at Walmart. This year when I called, I was placed on hold for 15 minutes. While waiting, I found MyEyeDr. Online and easily booked a same day appointment. I will never go back to Walmart. The entire experience was easy and pleasant. My doctor, Dr. Dugan, was thorough and incredibly knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and helped me to select the best lenses for my needs. Shikira checked me out after the appointment. She was very well versed in the bundling discounts and rebates that I qualified for. The entire experience was seamless and enjoyable! Stay away!! This is not the St. Charles Vision that Charlie Glazer founded and built up. I showed up at 7:55 am for my 8 am appointment for my yearly eye exam. I checked in and was immediately questioned by the attendant as to why I didn't respond to any of their texts or phone calls. I was then told that since I didn't respond, I was being punished and was now placed in "overflow". I was the only patient there! However, it was clear from the attendant's tone that she was more interested in chastising me than assisting a patient. What made it worse was Dr. Dugan standing there listening to everything and not saying a word. I said "See ya!" and left as I am not trusting my eye care and health to these folks. They obviously must have too many patients as they didn't mind one of 42 years walking out the door. read more

I will not be going back to the location on St Charles. I had an appointment this afternoon at 1:40 and braved the elements to being told the clinic was closed. The girl working the front desk was rude and showed no empathy to my situation at all. She said she called me this morning but did not leave a vm or send a text. Than while I am on my way traversing the flooded streets of New Orleans trying to make it to my appointment on time, they attempt calling and then hang up after I said hello. I have never experienced such HORRIBLE customer service in all my life. DO NOT GO THERE! I will be taking my business elsewhere and I was going to get new glasses and six months more of contacts. STAY AWAY FROM My Eye Dr on st Charles ave. I have purchased two pairs of glasses at this location for myself and one for my wife. Between my wife an I and our insurance, we have spent thousands on three pair of glasses. I paid for all the bells and whistles, scratch protectant, insurance... Everything. When my glasses were damaged, I brought them back to take advantage having them replaced with the insurance. They went out of their way to try and talk me out of making the claim. I had to insist they honor, and they did. When I picked up the glasses, (ray ban sunglasses used for clear prescription) I took them home and compared them to the tinted lenses from my damaged-returned pair. The lenses from my old pair were smaller than the new ones and would not fit the new frames. After wearing the glasses less than a year, they became scratched, every light has a halo around it and they are now unwearable. I brought them back today and asked why there was no scratch protection as were on my old lenses. They told me that They didn't replace the lenses only the frames, a boldfaced lie, then said that I probably left them in my car. Then told me that it was because I cooked food at home. After an amazing amount of BS reasons, they finally settled on that I bought the crappy protection instead of the good stuff. WTF?!! Why would I go to the most expensive glasses store in the city, pay as much as I possibly could for glasses, buy all the bells and whistles, the insurance and then "pick" the scratch resistance that does not work? Their answer for me is that "it's my fault because I am stupid" Stay away from My Eye Dr on st Charles avenue. Go get a exam at Costco for 90$ buy a nice pair of sunglasses, and let your insurance (if you have it) deal with the rest. read more

I was nervous to go here after reading the reviews, but my boyfriend insisted that he had a great experience. I gave it a shot and was thoroughly impressed. Dr. Lynh Chi Nguyen is so nice and explained things well. The assistant that takes pressure and does the retina pictures (Optomap I think is what it's called) was also great. The customer service at the desk was also great. The receptionist was able to quickly look up what my insurance covered so I could make decisions about ordering contacts. All around a great visit. I was a patient with St Charles Vision for many years and appreciated going for check ups and purchasing glasses. I just called there to see if my new insurance would be accepted now that the owner has change. The first person I spoke with acted like I was not giving correct information off of my insurance card and did not seem like she wanted to check. I then called the insurance company to see if My eyeDr was in network, the quick answer was yes. Insurance company suggested to call MyEyeDr back and offer the customer 800 number to get any questions answered. Sounds like a good enough plan , right. Call sack to EyeDr a second time and spoke to a different person. Almost immediately. She began to lecture me on "What patients don't understand ". And she went on and on and wouldn't stop. Get this "She is the Manager there". I interrupted her in midsentence and told her that I would not be coming there to get glasses anymore. I would gladly go somewhere else. I had noticed that the new company has a low rating and now I know why. . also, what is interesting neither one of the ladies back down off of being defiant on checking insurance.. I spent a lot of money on my latest pair of glasses. I like the frames. The lenses have been acquiring strange smudges so that I have to clean them 8 or more times a day. I have never touched them with anything other than the cloth I was given to wipe them. I really think they messed up with the coating they put on the lenses. I've been back to the store twice to complain about this issue and instead of fixing the problem they argue with me. They flat out don't do returns. They say they'll fix any problem you have, but instead of fixing it, they argue. The new management has really changed the tone of what used to be St Charles Vision. read more

This place is highly overpriced with poor, even hostile service. Frames here are marked up well above other shops and lenses are extremely expensive. They took over two weeks to fill a prescription for new glasses, which is longer than anywhere I've ever experienced. The eye exams are very quick, but perhaps too quick: my eyes had to be re-examined and one lens replaced because of blurred vision with those made to match the prescription. Unfortunately, they are one of the only places left that takes my insurance. I cannot recommend them. read more

I've been a retail manager for 12 years. For years I always thought yelp was the worst thing to happen to humanity since the onset of STD's. My experience at this location was so horrible I actually felt the need to download this app and tell the world my story so that people avoid this particular location. Although their corporate office was sympathetic, I still helped this store make their goal. The same person was dismissive, uncaring, and yes used predatory sales tactics. The staff seems not to want to give customer service to anyone that is not the usual demographic. The return policy is on 5x6 cardboard nicely tucked away, and if you are expecting a verbal explanation you are out of luck. You will be stuck with the purchase. You will get to change your frames but they can treat you anyway they choose. God forbid you choose something less expensive, at that point you get a hand written credit on your original order paper. I don't understand that either. (This is where I insert an apology to the only person that even cared to attempted to provide me with any type of service. Sir I do not know your name but I am very sorry for walking out on you without even letting you clean my glasses or give me a receipt, That attitude was meant for the young lady that did not try to give me a hand written store credit and was willing to let me leave my $300 lenses that I've paid for) In all I'm not happy with the sunglasses I ended up being forced to exchange,(I'd also like to think the lady that "kindly" informed me that sunglasses were not exchangeable. BTW none of that is on the "receipt" Every time I put them on I'll be reminded of how I allow those people to silently call me a NIGGER to my face, and I did nothing. In my career in hospitality it will give me grater sympathy. So I thank you for the tools of making me better, it sucks that it was a $685 lesson. These people don't care about their customers (unless you are the St Charles demographics) Corporate will only give you apologies but no solution.
