I made an appointment for an eye test and explained that I had medicaid and that I wanted only the services allowed by medicaid for the eye test and that I wanted the glasses and lenses only allowed under what was allowed under medicaid. I was very clear because I didn't have the money to pay for any additional items outside services other than what was strictly allowed under medicaid. Now, My eye Dr is billing me $205 for I don't know what and harassing me for payment. I just reported them to medicaid. Terrible company. read more

My experience today was amazing. I initially came in for my daughter in which I was able to book her appointment with ease via their website. I uploaded our insurance, etc online prior to coming in, in which I'm sure helped expedite our wait time. There was little to no wait for her being seen and this was on a Saturday with Dr. Chait. Customer service was friendly and very inviting. Antonio helped check us in and helped my daughter pick her frames afterwards. Jolie did our pretest and it went smoothly. My daughter and I felt very comfortable and welcomed, that I decided to schedule an appointment for myself later on in the day. 5 stars all around. fyi: when your frame breaks for your prescription lens, after 6-12 months they (including corporate) tell you; ...they cannot help you. why? because they rotate frames, and the frames they initially used, may now not be available. then they lied - i have insurance for frames i had the policy - and read the policy but the gentleman stood there and told me- nope, no coverage! insulting, so be aware. there are better places to spend your $$ read more

I came to MyEyeDr on a Friday afternoon. There is a small parking lot shared by multiple retailers. I had no issues finding parking and arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. I booked my appointment by phone and handled all paperwork online prior to my visit which was very convenient. I met with Dr. Chait and did my annual eye exam and contact lens fitting. He was very personable and spent the time to throughly discuss the health of my eyes and any questions or concerns I had. I appreciated how he took the time to explain the images of my eyes, I actually had never had an eye doctor do that for me... typically I just hear that everything is good and that is it. After my exam I checked out with Angelo and he was very friendly and helpful throughout the process. He helped me order my contact lenses. The only reason I am giving 4 out of 5 stars is because I asked before ordering my contacts if there was a rebate and was told that there was.... unfortunately when I tried to submit for a rebate it was rejected because my contact lenses were not eligible :( Update: 12/14/2022 I was pleasantly surprised with MyEyeDr customer service reached out to me to resolve this issue. They graciously honored the rebate for me. I really appreciate that they went above and beyond so that my experience was a 5/5 :) read more

I've just used MyEyeDr for the last time. I've gotten 2 or 3 pairs of glasses there previously, and was satisfied. True, there was some sticker shock-- but I've come to expect that when getting glasses. They're very expensive. I'm a senior on a fixed income and decided to economize this time and have lenses put into a favorite pair of old frames. Do you know what that cost? $599.20! Lucky for me I got a "discount" or the price would have been $749. For putting lenses into old frames! And 19 days after placing the order the glasses still aren't in. I was not a patient here when I came here last year, I am today. In my previous visit, I was impressed by the Dr.'s professionalism and patience especially with some who had mental health issues. That meant the world to watch the interaction, talking to the patient about his eyes and not talking around or to the person next to his patient. At that moment, I decided to come here when my insurance renewed. There is an exam behind the eye, I recommend, currently $39. He goes into detail about your eye and how it looks. Very impressive. I ordered a box of contacts from them and they allowed some random person to pick them up without authorizing or verifying if it was me. The manager then marks them as delivered without double checking. I paid for a box of contacts that some random person now has. Absolutely unacceptable. Definitely going back to Warby Parker after this. How do you mark a box delivered without checking its being delivered to the correct person? It takes two seconds to check an ID and you shouldn't hand off someone's paid item to someone they didn't authorize to pick up. The manager didn't even know who picked them up for me. She just guessed it was my husband and he never did. I never did. I never authorized him to anyway so that doesn't even matter. I will never be returning to this location. I fear that anything I order may be handed off to some random person. No customer should feel that way after trusting you with their money for a product you're selling them. Never again. read more

I didn't expect to put my sunglasses on today with one arm hanging off my frames. While I was in transit for my haircut appointment, I looked across the street & saw the eye catching sign & proceeded in to inquire about a quick repair. Delmi, the very cordial & stylish Patient Coordinator welcomed me right to her counter & asked how she could assist me. I told her of my rapid need & she literally asked to see my Sunglasses, walked over to the Laboratory that was devised with a bella blue curtain & in a few minutes Delmi returned with my repaired Sunglasses. Although I didn't purchase any eyewear (yet), I still received their complimentary Lens cleaner & cloth. Receiving such expedient & appreciable customer service, I asked if she had a few minutes to verify my insurance & in a few snaps of a finger, she printed out my benefit information. My overall walk in visit took all of 10 minutes, & I will return to try MEDr for my next eye exam. Thank you Dr. Chalt for the speedy repair & crystal clear lens. read more

I can haz vision PUUUHHH LEEZ? I had some complications with the bethesda location, with waiting for weeks for incorrect contacts and contacts mailed to different addresses, because I need to see and my insurance benefits for 2010 were running out, I decided to try out the Rockville location. It is said the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I decided to get glasses from the same chain that I had problems with in Bethesda, I should have known better. I came in with a friend and found a great pair of glasses I wanted. So I called in that day to order them and have my prescription sent from Bethesda. Came in two days later to be fitted and they couldn't find my order and said a tech had been working that day up front. Finally they found an unlabelled bin after a half hour with the frames and prescription. I was told because of my insurance requires it they have to tell me it could take up to 10 days but most likely they would be ready before that. Since some people on yelp and my coworkers said they don't really call when the glasses are ready, I called them after the first seven days. The lady said that they weren't ready and I should wait for their call. I told her about past experiences and she apologized. So then I called after 2 weeks and went through the same conversation with someone who wasn't as polite. It's been over two weeks now. My coworker who ordered the same glasses actually found out they were ready the next day although they didn't call till a week later and said they called her (she saw the number on her missed calls earlier in the week but no message was left). Meanwhile, I'm still stuck wearing the incorrect contacts from the Bethesda store and waiting for glasses so the headaches can stop. My recommendation is if you like things done right, go elsewhere. read more

I had to double check the address for this place as I was about to write my reviews, because of all the low ratings. I definitely had a different experience! Scheduling the appointment was easy since I could do it online, and they even called to verify my insurance so they could get it into the system before I get there so I'm not waiting. Location is conveniently off the pike, with plenty of parking out front. When you walk in, I was greeted and asked a few COVID questions, was asked to sign my name with the responses, was asked to sanitize my hands, and had my temperature taken. It looks like they ask you to put a surgical mask on as well if you're wearing a cotton mask (or at least replace your cotton mask with it), which is great because it offers better protection! Small thing, but they had two pen holders, one for used pens and one for sanitized one (which I saw later during my appointment that they definitely do sanitize the used ones before putting it in the sanitized holder). I didn't have a wait, and was shuffled off to the routine eye exam. The staff I interacted with were very friendly and very helpful, asked about my general eye usage level, whether I had any questions, etc. and in general very patient. As I move on to pick out glasses, the staff was very nice in seeing whether their specials might be better cost-wise compared to my insurance (very much appreciated!). I noticed that the station had a "sanitized" sign on it, which means they likely frequently sanitize it after customers. When I went to look for glasses, the staff member walked with me, asking what styles I was looking for, etc. to help out and held a large box for me to place any any glasses I would try on in so they are able to sanitize it after. I was very impressed with their attention to details and felt incredibly safe! This was my first time here, had a great experience, and will definitely come back. read more

I was running a few errands in the Rockville area. While driving on Rockville Pike not far from the Target store I saw that there was a #myeyedr location in a strip mall. Turning my car around I headed straight there. My glasses had been really bothering me lately and needed to be readjusted to fit my face. Upon entering the store I got a prompt and friendly greeting. He told me he'd be right back and then asked me to sit down at the table. The first thing he did was to ask what location I bought my glasses at? It turns out he'd been working in Kensington & helped me choose & buy my glasses! I really liked the style, quality & color. I was asked to turn my head. He wanted to see how my glasses fit over my ears & then quickly diagnosed what the problem was! It took more than one adjustment to tighten the ear pieces. When I left they fit just right and were not too tight. The bad news was he planned on moving to another location very soon! That is too bad because I really like this store location and received great service that day. Bleh. Went here because the lady on the phone told me they had a contact lens exam special (exam and three pairs of contacts for $99). Sweet! Got my eye exam, got my pair of trial lenses, and went to go pay. What?! That $99 special doesn't apply to toric lenses?! I specifically asked the lady on the phone and she confirmed that this $99 was for toric lenses too. The lady finally gave me the special price after some eye rolling and whispering to her co-worker. A week later I called in to order my contacts. I didn't receive a call stating that they were in (although they said they called twice and left messages...pah-lease!). Came in to find out that they didn't order two pairs of my lenses. The same lady that told me about the $99 deal ordered me two boxes instead! Ugh. No, I'm not paying for two boxes of contact lenses (which I could buy myself online for a cheaper price). After some eye rolling and whispering to her co-worker (same lady that did this before), just gave me the two boxes because of the screw up. Sweet! Although I did get a deal here (because of someone's mistakes...yeah me!), their customer service stinks! Don't roll your eyes at me because someone working here made a mistake. Ordered contacts and I GAVE HIM FRAMES THAT I PERSONALLY PURCHASED MYSELF! I told him, do not lose these frames..... If I didn't not call myself, they wouldn't have told me... Guess What!!!!! THEY LOST MY FRAMES.... They tried to offer me some frames in office, I don't like the selection of frames this company has to offer! That's why I personally purchased my own! The Dr. was amazing and knew exactly what I needed for my eyewear and the optical staff was very knowledgeable as far as knowing what lenses fit best for my everyday lifestyle. Front desk staff was super kind and made it a great and easy experience for me by having pulled my vision insurance and getting in and out of the pre-test room and into the drs office. Both my husband and I have had problems with MyEyeDr cutting progressive lenses corrctly. My husband knew as soon as he put his glasses on there was something wrong because he was seeing double. He was practically laughed at by the sales staffperson who said take a few days to get used to them. A few days later he returned and they admitted the lenses were cut incorrectly. My experience is even worse. They cut the lenses wrong the first time, and now they cut the lenses wrong a second time! MyEyeDr needs to better train the lab in cutting lenses! read more

I've been here twice for eye exams only. The doctor for this location is very friendly. On both visits, I have had a friendly staff prep for me to see the doctor. I used to work at an optometrist's office prepping patients, and I know how difficult those machines can be sometimes, especially if the patient is grumpy about having air blown in their eyes. The doctor is thorough and has recommended different options for working in front of a screen all day. He recommended taking frequent breaks to try and offset eye fatigue, and this most recent time, he told me there are anti-fatigue lenses out now (and then explained what those are). He also explained the pictures they took of my eye in detail, instead of just saying "they look healthy." The reason I have deducted one star is because they don't really give you an option on whether or not you want to buy glasses from them. Both times I've been here with an appointment, I haven't had much of a wait and I'm in and out of my exam fairly quickly, but then get stuck in a sales pitch. They kind of hold your prescription hostage for a little bit while they try and pick out frames for you. If you are looking to be in and out, just for an eye exam, let them know as soon as you are done with your exam that you aren't looking to purchase glasses right away. read more

I had a great experience. I had a late in the day appointment that moved quickly. The tech performing my eye tests was very knowledgeable and communicative about what was being performed and why. The Dr explained all tests and showed what they all meant as it pertained to my health. He was very patient and understanding of my needs. I was never rushed and felt comfortable. We've been coming to MyEyeDr now for about 10 years and have had nothing but good experiences with all of the staff and the optician. In my experience they have all been very friendly and competent. My wife and I were never satisfied with our experiences at the many other eyeglass stores we visited in the past, so I'd say they are definitely doing something right, at least for us, given we've been with them for 10 years now. read more

I had a terrible experience and will never go there again. Firstly, they used a traditional styled test that involved puffing dry air into my eye; I have never experienced this at any other institution. My eye is severely dry already,so this only exacerbated the pain. The opticians never asked me of my opinion about anything, not even when I showed discomfort, either, and were cold and uncaring. Secondly, I feel that they did not get an accurate measure of my vision, since the right and left were even more vastly different than before as well as the overall prescription being extremely high to the point where the new glasses made me immediately very dizzy. They told me it would take time to adjust, but no way was I jeopardizing my vision for their incompetence; I promptly went back to my old prescription glasses. Additionally, their frame selections are extremely limited; perhaps this has changed, but when I went, there were only angular or clunky designs. I picked 2 angular designs, and the result was 2 pinched, ill-fitting, and too small frames. I only went to this horrible store because my relative was attracted to the sales, but never again will I go to this place. To this date (I went there years ago, too), I still have used my old prescription glasses, not these new frames that were sitting in a baggie as a last-resort back-up. Today I inspected the new glasses' lenses, and they even had strange bubbles trapped in the edges?! I suspect they're some sort of defect or even glue. read more

I will not be returning to this store, or chain after my first visit for a contact exam this afternoon. The first receptionist I was "greeted" by, who also did my glaucoma test, etc, was rude from the moment I entered the building. She treated everything I said or asked as a joke or nuisance. I saw the doctor promptly, who was nice enough and answered my question in a respectable manner, and was unquestionably the best part of my visit. The woman who checked me out, at first, was fine. However, after declining to purchase the outrageously overpriced contacts, her attitude showed itself and her patience, as well as my spot on her priority list, began quickly descending. She continued to help multiple other customers-whilst in the middle of "assisting" me-and had me wait over twenty minutes, standing at the front desk, for a copy of a perscription that took less than a minute to write. The eye exam took somewhere between five and ten minutes, including an unbelievablely, and unessacary, expensive contact fitting. Having worn contacts for over ten years, I have never seen such high prices, or short exams. Completely and utterly dissatisfied with this location and chain. read more

I will say to justify some of these other reviews some of the people that work at this location are HARD to work with. I have been going here for years now and they have always been super accommodating. When I was having major issues with my contacts and dry eyes Dr. Gold gave me his personal number should I ever need anything. If you wear contacts or even if you don't just ask for Lakea! She is freaking AMAZING. I just moved down to GA and I had to call her to get my contact lens prescription to give to the place I was going to get my eyes checked. She told me she was sad that I moved and gave me a quote for my contact lenses and told me to call her if this new place was going to charge me a fortune (which they were) she is sending me my contacts! Yippee! Lakea has been there for years and knows exactly what she is doing she will not give you a BS price over the phone and then give a totally different price once you get there. The associates who work there are helpful and they have nice selection of frames. HOWEVER I will never be going back. I have only ever bought eyeglasses at Costco and after being rushed into purchasing a new pair at the store I really regret it. If you have VSP like I do they talk about all the discounts you get so you think you are saving a lot of money. My glasses "cost" $750 but I paid $400 after insurance. Only after going home did I realize that although I did receive a large discount on the frames, the lenses were hiked up to $300. The same quality lenses you can get at Costco for $100. Lesson learned, make sure you know all of the costs first before buying here and definitely do comparisons with other glasses retailers. Also, be warned you cannot cancel your order even if it's only the day after (I tried). read more
