Spectacular care from start to finish. I have been to other MyEyeDr branches and always felt shuttled through like cattle. But this place was completely different. I was able to make a same day appointment. When I arrived, I found the location was was clean and well stocked. Melissa at reception checked me in and dealt with my insurance company mess up, which was not her fault but she was a pro and super kind and helpful. Then Dr Chuh saw me and was fantastic. He took the time to listen to my concerns and provide thoughtful advice after assuring me that everything was ok (reading my test results). He is very focused on providing great care, and I was so pleased with the time he took to make sure all my questions were addressed. Strongest recommendation for this location. read more

After speaking to a wonderful employee from myeyedr , who stated she would look into my complaint, nothing has changed. The office still fraudulently claimed my son's visit was a medical claim. I have received a bill for my medical co- pay and now both my son and myself getting phone calls from the office to pay the co-pay. He went to have an eye exam, only an eye exam. Again nothing medical. DO NOT GO OR USE THIS OFFICE. You will not be happy with the service, even after being told they will look into it. Nothing done, just now harassment for money for something that was not done. They did not treat my son for anything medically. read more

They told me they would charge me a certain amount but it was wildly different than what I saw on the credit card when I got home. My experience here was decent enough exam wise. Their frame selection is mediocre, not much designer selection at all. The issue I had was with billing. It took me forever to figure out why I was being hounded about an outstanding bill when I paid at the time of service, as required. After about 4 hours on the phone between them and my vision insurance provider, I found out that My Eye Dr had double billed me; same date, same service. Be hyper-vigilant about your bill as getting in touch with anyone helpful/knowledgeable about billing here is painstaking. Even the billing/insurance specialist was clueless. read more

The worst optician office experience. The guy at the front desk was inexperienced but pleasant. He did the preliminary tests but had to get help. I felt bad for him. Seemed like he was thrown out there with little training. The optician didn't explain the prescription even when asked. No explanation of anything except when i insisted on having an understanding the prescription because I'm not used to having bifocal computer glasses. I was the only customer there so not that they were busy. And that cranky manager should not be in customer service, she behaved as if my asking any question was a nuisance. I've gone to the optician next to lens crafters for the past 5 years without a problem. One year I was in hurry and went to the Walmart optician and that worked out fine too. Summary - go somewhere else. Worst experience. Wish I could give a zero rating. read more

This place is great, the staff there are very nice and professional. I went to see Dr. Burton for my eye exam, the doctor quickly found my eyes power. I ordered my glasses there and went there yesterday to pick them up. When I walked in I was greeted by a gentleman name Christopher and the nicest lady name Shayla. I had asked Christopher to help me pick out my glasses. When I picked them up yesterday, I immediately tried them on and was very satisfied with the accuracy of the power, the lenses and the overall fit. My husband was the one who introduced me to this place initially but now I will be going here for all my future eye exam and glasses. It was very convenient to schedule an appointment as I was able to schedule one the same day with no issues on their website. Super convenient. However, I felt like staff tends to up sell and make it seem like you received a good deal when that is not always the case, I would double check the numbers and ask questions if you are ever unsure of anything to be on the safe side. What made this experience pretty bad was the fact that I was told I had to do a retinal screening as it was mandatory now due to COVID or else the doctor would not be able to see me. I was pretty surprised when I heard that and just went with it because I was already there sitting in the chair with the tech. I would have appreciated it if that was made known on the phone prior to my coming there. In my previous experiences at an eye exam it was always recommended not mandatory. It is also an additional 27 dollars to your cost to do the retinal screening. They were having technical difficulties with their computer system so I had to do the laser retinal screening 4 times which didn't help the situation. They do have their process down to reduce exposure during the covid pandemic so that is appreciated but that is not enough for me to come back to a MyEyeDr location. I plan on finding a new place that's less commercial. read more

Five stars for eye exam. Three for frame and lenses product selections. Dr Burton is professional, efficient and nice to communicate. I will go here again for eye exam. However, their frame and lenses selections are very limited. They don't carry any asian fit frames that fit narrow bridges. As for lenses, they carry mainstream essilor and zeiss, no high end brands such as Nikon or Hoya. read more

I was a customer of the RTC location before I left, and came back, so I knew what sort of service and quality I was going to get. A few weeks ago my glasses broke and after 4 years I thought I should get a new pair. Staff was friendly when I walked in and tried to help with my broken glasses, but they were in fact so broken, I needed a new pair. I gave my insurance information and within minutes I knew what coverage I had and what I didn't. Luckily the eye check up was free once a year with my insurance! Huge plus. And I was able to get lenses and frames at a discount as well. I picked out some glasses, as well as new sunglasses with the helpful staff and letting me know what I can actually afford. And since I was there, I might as well get both at the same time right? My eye glasses came in a week later and they are fantastic. My sunglasses came in a few days after with a scratch on the polarized lens is been waiting a week for new sunglasses and I was sad I couldn't walk out with them. Now it'll be another week without my new sunglasses in hopes they don't come back scratched. read more

I was charged for poly carbonate lenses without sale person fully explaining it. I got the itemized receipt after I paid, that is right after I paid (I am that dumb and sales person is that good). I realized that I could have saved more than 50 dollar if I opted out of poly carbonate lenses. I thought I was clear (I said couple times that I want the cheapest lenses) that i want the cheapest option available and yet I ended up paying $50 dollar for something I don't really need. I have been coming here for my eye exam and new glasses for about 3 years now but i am going to find a place that is not all about up-selling (to be fair, poly carbonate lenses worth well over $50). Doctor who did my eye exam was very thorough but be aware that this location tries to up-sell if you are not paying attention. read more

I've been seeing my eye doctor for 26 years. He should be retired by now, but I guess he likes to keep busy. It's hard to find someone new, so when he moves to a new location, I move there also. I followed Dr. Bleakly to the Sterling branch of the My Eye Doctor chain recently. And, now I'm sorry that I did. While my time in the exam room when well, my experience before and after was less than great. I arrived late for my appointment and had to wait 45 minutes to get squeezed in. Hey, that's my fault. But, it gave me plenty of time to observe how the staff operated. At that time, it seemed like there were way more people in there than was necessary. For a small store/office like this 3 or 4 people, including the doctor, would seem sufficient. There were at least 5 or 6. They chit chatted with each other. When I was called back for my appointment, they couldn't find my chart. They said that they'd look for it while I was getting my measurements done (i.e. before the actual exam started.) More chit chat and 10 minutes later I'm sitting in the exam chair and there is still no chart. Dr. Bleakly had to go out and ask them for it. After a few minutes they produced it. The funny thing was that I was sitting for nearly an hour in the waiting area, so why did they look for my chart only when they got crap from the doctor? When I came out, they told me to sit down so that I could place my order. I said that I wanted a written prescription so that I could order them online at home. No no. That would be too complicated for me because of having to submit my own insurance claim, etc. It would cost less to order them here. Fine! I just wanted to get out of there. But, I made it clear that I wanted them shipped to me directly. A week goes by and I get a call saying that my contact lenses are ready for pickup. I explained that I had asked for them to be shipped to me. Hey, mistakes happen. I get it. Just fix it. Right? I'm told that they should be to my house in no more than 2 days. A week later I call them asking why I hadn't received my contact lenses yet. The person on the phone says she'll have to research it and call me back. Six hours later I call them back and ask whether they'd figured out where my lenses are. I was told (by a new person) that they would have to call UPS and find out what UPS had done with my box. Half an hour later I get a call saying that they box has been located and that it should be at my house the next day In both conversations that afternoon, the implication was that UPS had lost my package. Finally, I got my lenses. Curiously, I did a track on the shipping label and found that it had been processed and picked up at My Eye Doctor at 4:30 PM the day before. Impressions: (1) They aren't organized. They lost my file, right? They shipped to themselves instead of me, right? (2) They don't care about their customers. They should have been looking for my file as soon as I showed up for my appointment. They shouldn't be carrying on conversation with each other while I'm waiting for an order to be written up. They didn't call me back when they said they would. Sorry. Dr. Bleakly. After 26 years, I won't be coming back. Hopefully, you'll be retiring soon and I won't feel so guilty going to someone else. read more

I have been rather happy with My Eye Dr here in Sterling. I don't have vision insurance so the prices work out well for me and they are willing to do some nice price matching with contact lenses. I will hit them 1 star though because i feel they tried to rip me off on contact costs. i called for a price and they initially quoted me a price of almost $50 a box. I hesitated and said they price matched for me last time, they put me on hold and then instantly dropped the price in half into the $20s per box, equal to Sam's Club pricing. I am a little annoyed that they tried to sell me at the high price first though and i wonder how many people just say sure, here's the credit card. I just purchased glasses as well and again after a little negotiation they cut the price in half and offered to give my wife half off when she visits. I think you just have to negotiate a bit to get the best deal available and i will happily keep coming here. read more

SUPER efficient/quick process--the front desk staff greeted me as i walked in and helped me with paperwork, and Dr. Zalar saw me shortly thereafter. she was very warm and knowledgeable, and answered all the questions i had thoroughly (regarding LASIK, general eye health, contact solutions, etc), which i appreciated. she gave me a bottle of solution to take home with me, and i was on my way! the whole process was quick and easy. i'll definitely be back! read more

This location is awesome! I went in for my annual eye exam and to re-up on contacts and from start to finish it was a great experience. The front desk attendant (small woman, her name started with an "A") was very professional and knew her stuff. She had me fill out paperwork and did my pre-test. Then I met with the doc who was also personable and gave me tips on care I can try at home since I have a dryness problem. She then gave me some contact samples and made suggestions on which brand would best fit my needs. Finally, Rodney and the front desk attendant/pre-tester helped me pick out a new pair of glasses, went over a few different styles I was interested in, and got me the best value. Efficiency is key with me and the whole staff here knows their job and did their job, both quickly and cheerfully. What more could you want when going in for a simple eye exam? 5 stars to this location! read more

Great Customer service. Working in health care myself,I know how hard it is to obtain patient records. The folks at My eye Dr -Sterling- were very courteous,friendly and went above and beyond helping me obtain images from a glaucoma test for my mom. I needed the images transferred on a drive in order to be able to send it abroad.They helped me through multiple computer glitches from heir side and were able to give me the records on time without a hassel!! It wasn't until checkout that both times I've gone they have added in charges without telling me. I have not been to an eye doctor in about 12 years, so I decided to take my 5 year old daughter and myself in the other day. I was extremely please that they accepted Block Vision (which is hard in this area) I like the fact that I was able to fill out our paper work online so all we had to do was walk right in. We were seen within minutes of our arrival. The team was very patient with my over curious daughter, allowing her to ask them 101 questions, while I was in my exam. The doctor I saw (I can't remember his name at the moment) was really kind and very patient with my daughter as well and allowed her to even operate the exam chair to get down (the little things) The General Manager helped me with my frames to find what was within my budget and really took the time with us. I was told to expect my frames in about 5 days. I am still in my waiting period and will give them 5 stars if I am called within a timely manner. I look forward to bringing the rest of my family here when its their time. (I think my mother was rather impressed and my be switching over to this office as well!) I cannot believe all these poor reviews; that people have actually taken the time to write a page worth of Bull Honkey. If your experience was that poor, I wouldn't take the time to write any review at all. Obvious the poor reviewers are salesclerks from Hour Eyes or some other Optical Retail location. I on other hand have received decent service here for myself and for my family. The Eye physicians here are loyal to the business; and took time to explain and detail my exam. I really appreciated the time they took. I wear Progressive lenses with a memorize style frame. I've got a pair of the Memorize Wire frames and 'The Drew' - you know Acrylics frames..... from the Price is RIght . Each pair has been positively the best glasses I've ever had. Both received from the Dulles Retail Plz location. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In retro-spect, the Reston (Town Center Location - adjacent to Best Buy) is a wonderfully designed store, with extravogent displays and expensive design and frames. My wife wanted progressive contacts, and they charged her for the progressives but delivered to us, a single vision design. When we took them back, the salesman argued like we were stupid and ignorant of the situation. My parents both wear contacts, and I know what to look for. Regardless, though the store is glamorous and ritzy, the honesty is lacking. We were taken advantage of in the worst way. The day we were there, one of the sales staff (a real pretty girl) obviously had the FLU and was coughing all over the merchandise and yet the managers didn't care. Obviously they enjoyed looking at her; (I would have sent her home to get better.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Though both of these locations are the SAME Company, one is better than the other. Much better. I recommend to ALL my friends and associates to go the the Dulles Retail Plz location. Though, all the salemen/women may not be be totally educated about the product, they are considerate, helpful, and TRY to do the right thing. Managers stood by to assist the sales staff, if they stumbled with giving out information. That is what I like, someone that at least tries to do you right. My Suggestion is the you PHYSICALLY WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING THAT YOUR INSURANCE PAYS FOR on a sheet of paper and take it in to the sales staff. Then show them that you're NOT THE AVERAGE BLOW, that doesn't know or that expect the sales guy that just got hired yesterday to understand your benefit plan. YOU need to understand YOUR benefits. If you get ripped off, it is because YOU never WROTE DOWN YOUR BENEFITS FIRST. You'll help YOURSELF out of allot of misery if you take my advice. GOOD LUCK. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I most definitely would. I called a few days before my appointment to get an idea of how much an eye exam would cost including my insurance and the lady who answered the phone didn't know what she was talking about. She read the insurance benefits and still couldn't give me a quote, fine. Dr. Bleakly is very helpful, professional and nice. After my exam, Dr. Bleakly sends me to a woman who asks me where I would like my contacts sent to. First off, I never asked her to order my contacts. I thought I was going to pay for the services and then leave. She continued to be rude, or as Steve put it... grumpy (she was walking with a crutch). I only asked why it cost so much. I wasn't going to spend $80/box for contacts. plus $130 discount with my insurance, doesn't matter, isn't worth it. I usually spend $50/box with 20% discounts or any promotions. The lady decided to remove the contacts and said to me "you still have to pay this much for your exam..." She said it in a way like I was cheap or didn't have money to spend. Money is not an issue, trust me -- the overpricing of the contact lenses were a concern to me. As soon as I asked why it costs so much, she got up and turned to Steve and said "you deal with this, do whatever you want." Who does that? She should be fired. That's not how you treat customers. They also did not give me my prescription. Steve, on the other hand, was really helpful and kind, said I could come in with contact prices that I find online and guaranteed to do a price match, but I was 100% sure I could find better deals. One last thing, Walmart charges about $90 for contact/glasses exams with the glaucoma test and they don't push you to order overpriced products and get all rude and mad about it. I understand it's a Friday and you're crippled, but still, those aren't valid excuses to be the way you were SHAUN. I will not be back at this location, sorry I'm not sorry. read more

The worst eye exams' experiences (2 teenagers). Never wanna tell you what's the differences between the previous (glasses from other places, less than 1 year old) and now eyeglasses prescriptions. Do not even provide customers with their eyeglasses prescriptions at all! The only thing the doctor kept on mentioned was, 'they do need a stronger eyeglasses prescriptions, they're not 20/20 visions.' What? It's been almost 3 weeks later, only got one calling for 1 of the eyeglasses ready to pick up. Never get anymore phone calls after that for another eyeglasses ready to pick up!!! 100% not satisfied!!! read more

I went here last week and it was the WORST environment. All the employees were extremely pushy and did not care about any of the health aspects, but just wanted the sales. It is like going to a dealership. They con you saying you "need" the picture of your eye taken. They tell you it's $27, then will go down to $20, and if you still say no they will keep going and act like you're an idiot if you don't get it done. The manager has a nasty attitude. Nobody there is respectable and it was disappointing to go there. They will lie and say they found contact lenses and glasses for cheap but really you can go ANYWHERE else and get them much cheaper. The mark up is ridiculous. The Optometrist is even pushy with sales. Good luck to anyone who actually goes here. This place is trash. read more

I was actually suprised to read the other reviews. I've been going to MyEyeDr for 5 years, started in Reston, then moved to Sterling. In the past, there were some pushy sales people, etc, however, this visit was my favorite yet. Dr Bleakly is really pleasant, quick, and personable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and if you buy a year's worth of contacts, it's $63/box plus another $100 rebate, and free sunglasses. (The pair I got were BCBG- usually $160). I'm happy with them because they can usually take you with short notice and are easy to work with. read more

I love My Eye Dr, but not this location. The optometrist seemed like he just wanted to do my appointment as quickly as possible and get rid of me, but did not take time figuring out my prescription. I don't even know his name because he didn't introduce himself or anything. When I left the optometrist's office the technician helping me was trying to find a pair of glasses for me... the doctor didn't write on the paper i was getting contacts... The customer service at this location is not good. I prepaid for 6 months worth of contacts, which the technician said was a deal. I tried many contact companies to find the most comfortable pair. I called and asked to order a brand they didn't have at the store, but they were happy to order them for me (they came in within a few days). When i finally found the company that was good for me, I called to tell them to order the contacts. I waited over 2 weeks without a call from them. When I called to see if they came in, they said my contacts were in the store. I went to pick them up, and they were more of the trials I had picked up before. I don't think they even ordered a box for me, they just had the rest of the box of trials I had previously picked up.... But they never called me!!! Ridiculous. The only thing about this location I liked was Doreen at the front counter, who was always very nice and helpful, and the lady who did my contact training. read more

I purchased a pair of glasses from the Gainsville, VA store back in 2010. The glasses I purchased had the incorrect prescription. It appeared that everything such as the sidewalk was 6 inches from my face. When I took the glasses back and had another eye exam, the doctor said my prescription had changed... WHAT! in two weeks.. When I went out to the front to speak to the associate who was going to reorder my glasses she said that the doctor made a mistake and tried to make it look like me. They gave me the frames and allowed me to pick up another pair. The glasses were $400 and I was told that I had a high quality lens. Fast forward to February 2014 at the Sterling location. The woman who checked us in (me and my husband) was trying to squeeze us into purchasing the photo of your eye. I declined for both of us. She kept pressing and pressing and I said no, I had a very thorough eye exam from an ophthalmologist about 12 months ago and I know what my medical status is and I didn't need another I told her. She told me is it because it cost $15 I said no, I am just not interested. She said well since you don't care about your health.... What!!! My husband was SO angry that he accepted the photo of the eye to make her shut up, honestly it was like 10 mins of pressure. I suffer with many health problems and see some sort of doctor on a bi-weekly basis. She doesn't need to know this and it should not matter. To insinuate that we couldn't afford it and that I didn't care about my health. I was outraged. I decided to take the frames from my previous visit that I got for free to have new lenses put in to save money. The woman who worked with us had a dark auburn hair. She said to get you back into the type of lenses you have would cost something like $600.. WHAT?? I brought my own frames. I said I am not paying that she said well, I can give you a less expensive lens. I said ok. The charge went from $600 to $147... You have got to be kidding. So, we wait to get called back to pick up our glasses and the call never comes so I called and they said we have your glasses. They said my number wasn't in the system for a text reminder although, I received a text message on my initial appointment. That's not even an issue at this time. I try the glasses on and the lens are blurry to the point I was getting dizzy. I could not even focus on anything in the room. You can tell the guy that was assisting was getting impatient and put the little view finder thing up to my eyes and marked the lens but to no avail. He said well take them home and try them out (too lazy to resolve). I took them home and it never improved. Everything was blurry except for less than the size of a pencil eraser. The lenses are a progressive so are my others. So today, I go to take the glasses back. The woman with the dark auburn hair was there. She said how are the glasses out and I told her that they weren't and she said its probably because of the lens difference. I was impressed that she even remembered me. Besides me, there was one other customer in the store and then a few moments later another woman with a baby came in. So Rodny was assisting me. He looked at the glasses and made the measurements took them in the back with my other pair of glasses and came back and said its the lens because they are the same as what Costco has and if you had a better lens you would be able to see beyond the size of an eraser. I said that is not a satisfactory response. He said well I will go speak to the manager. He sends Kyle the manager over. Kyle tells me that there is nothing that can be done and that they looked a the glasses and that I had the same exact lens in these glasses as I had in the ones I paid $400 for so I told him well these were $400 and I was told that these were an upgraded lens so you are telling me that the same lenses today are a bottom of the line lens that can be bought at Costco, and he basically said yes. He said technology changed and I was getting older and my eyes needed to adjust. I said the woman with auburn hair told me that the lenses were different. He said he could not speak for her. So, I asked if she could recall our conversation just 10 mins. ago and she said oh, um,,, I don't recall, so many people come in here and I cant remember. WHAT! This place is deceptive, they are unprofessional and rip-offs. We only came here because we haves VSP. My husband got a second pair of glasses last year from America's Best with the equivalent lens that was suppose to be an upgrade at my eye dr. with a warranty & transition for $140. He paid $450 in 2010 along with me at the my eye dr. in Gainsville. This time he paid $450 but he also has a super strong prescript and better lens (so they say). I have an appoint for a relook but I have no hopes, have glasses that can't be used and feel used. Will NEVER recommend this place for their practices & after this relook will NEVER return read more

Avoid this place at all costs. After two months and three attempts, they still could not deliver a pair of prescription sunglasses that gave me adequate vision quality. I had to return my sunglasses the first time because the optometrist I saw gave me a bad prescription. After they re-lensed them the first time, the second pair had the right prescription but uneven polarization. After returning them the second time and being promised an expedited one-week turnaround, it took them three more weeks to get me my sunglasses and the polarization was uneven again. I finally had to request a refund and take my business elsewhere. I would not be offended by these problems if I felt like they were treating me respectfully, but: #1 Two separate members of their staff responded to my complaints by talking over me. #2 They did not update me when my "expedited" glasses were delayed. #3 They gave me contradictory reasons for the problems with my glasses - one person told me that the polarization deformation was due to an employee heating the frame to adjust the fit, but another person told me that the deformation was unavoidable due to my prescription. (If that was true, why did they not expect this result and warn me beforehand?) #4 They blamed the off-site lab for all the problems with my glasses, even after initially acknowledging fault. #5 They only gave me a copy of the bad prescription I got from my initial eye exam; now I've used up my yearly vision benefits and can't even take the script somewhere else to get it filled. I've worn glasses for twenty years, and I've never had to return a pair of glasses for revision; my previous pair of prescription sunglasses never had any issues with the polarization. I can forgive the high-pressure sales tactics I got when I initially ordered my sunglasses; I can even forgive the wonky prescription. I can't stomach being treated so poorly, though, and while this attitude may be unique to this location, it has convinced me to avoid this chain entirely in the future. read more
