AVOID THIS MYEYEDR ON CAPCAM AVE. I wanted a new pair or two of glasses, so I called Dr. Swaim for an appointment, the Doc I went to last year, who was awesome ! I wasn't able to get an appointment until August 11, so I called MED on Capcom . Surprise surprise ! I could get right in ! I went in , had the exam, Reese, the salesman, showed me a pair I liked , and the price was good, so I ordered them. They came in, I was NOT ABLE TO SEE !! They had my PD at 62, which is incorrect, it is actually 60. So another salesman ( Reese ) was not in that day, so Suzy helped me. She remeasured my Pupillary Distance , and came up with 59 1/2...closer but STILL incorrect ! Adults PD don't change once one becomes an adult. I was asked ' Who told you your PD was 60 ? ' Every Optometrist I've been to for 50 years ! So she said she fixed it, and again I waited till the glasses came back. AGAIN, I was unable to see. Every time I have to go back, I see someone different. I was, understandably upset, and asked for a refund. His name was Deven. He walked away, and the 5th person came out to talk to me. The last person I saw was the ' glasses ' tech, supposedly. Mary . I asked for a refund, she asked for another chance, I could come back on Monday or Tuesday of the next week, when my ' doc' was going to be back in , and she was sure the doc could tweak my script to my old one, so I might be able to see. She was upbeat, and said she was sure they could fix this. I would be getting an email to come in on Mon or Tues. At this point, I should have read the reviews FIRST ! I'm not sure what's happening in this office. I've been with MyEyeDr for decades, even when they were Eye Care Associates. I've been needing to go to the eye doctor for awhile, it was a good 3 years since my last visit. I had previously done Costco Vision and Warby Parker, but now that I have insurance, I thought I'd try out MyEyeDr. The staff here are all amazing and each person I've interacted with were great to work with. From warm greetings to easy eye exams, I felt comfortable and at ease. The entire building is spotless and sanitized between patients. Pricing is a bit high, I think. For the exam, a pair of everyday glasses, a pair of prescription Ray Ban aviators, and a 12 month supply of contacts, I spent almost $900. However, I haven't been in three years so I had to suck it up. Overall, I'm pretty happy with MyEyeDoctor! It's super convenient to hop on over from my job instead of going somewhere far. All in all, I had a positive experience...just wish it was cheaper. I mean, not having insurance was cheaper than having it, go figure. Been taking my child here for over two yrs just to find out they no longer take her insurance. We where never called, I found out while trying to schedule her annual appointment. I received a call over the weekend letting me know they will not be able to see me on my appointment today because we don't take your insurance I said I verified my insurance prior to the appointment being scheduled she says well where sorry we don't take Medicaid I said I think you got the wrong person, looks like you assumed I couldn't afford insurance because of my disabled child having government benefits. Ordered glasses on 4/3. Went into pick them up on 4/26. They were clearly scratched but the staff disagreed. I still haven't gotten them back as of today (5/13) and it turns out they didn't even send them out to until 4/29. All of this not being communicated to me until I called them on multiple occasions. Update from 7/19 (written 7/20): I took my glasses to another location and they helped me discover that the axis in my lens was wrong, contributing to the vision troubles I was experiencing. I had an eye infection and made an appointment but really didn't want to wait until I was booked. I called and asked if I could get in earlier. They were able to squeeze me in that day. I saw Dr. Price and he was both professional & quick. The entire thing lasted about 20 minutes. He was able to diagnose my eye infection, give me advice about what to do, and get me a prescription for it. During the visit he addressed my current insurance/financial situation. That made me feel like he was genuine and actually cared, so I really appreciated that. Hopefully I won't get another eye infection, but if I do I will have no problem seeing Dr. Price! read more

I have gone to another location of My Eye Dr for years. They text you INCESSANTLY with reminders to make an appointment for your check up. I made an appointment at this different location because it's closer to my new home. Made the appointment about a week and a half ago and checked in online. Never heard anything from them. Got to the office today and they said that because I hadn't "confirmed" my appointment, it was put into the "overflow" queue. I asked them how I would've been notified to confirm my appointment and they said I would have received texts or emails. I never received anything from them and I would've been on the lookout since I have gotten texts from them a lot in the past. They said they had to check with the doctor to see if he could still see me and I was about to walk out at that point, but they did say they could get me in. About five minutes later, a lady walked in with a small child. She sit at the desk for a few minutes and then when they checked her in, they told her that at that point she would have to reschedule her appointment. Her appointment was at 9:30 and it was 9:48 PM. She had definitely been standing at the desk waiting for a few minutes, they told her they had a strict 15 minute cut off. The mom was very upset and said that they had done a lot to get there. The girl at the desk said she would check with the doctor and see if they could still be fit in but that their policy was that she would have to reschedule. At that point I got up and said she could have my appointment and walked out. I was already hesitant to give them my business based on my experience..... and I feel sorry for the girl at the desk because she was having to deal with all this baloney. I would think the checking in online would be a confirmation of my appointment, why would I have to reconfirm with a text? This whole situation just gave me a terrible taste in my mouth, and I will not be going back to My Eye Dr. I'll be looking for a local optometrist. I've been a patient for several years and have always been very happy with the professionalism and service I have received at this office. This week I was on vacation in Tennessee and lost a contact lens. I'd forgotten to bring an extra pair or my glasses. I called and spoke with Shawna (sp?) and she arranged to overnight ship some replacement lenses to me. They just arrived and she even included a small bottle of solution and a case. We had a great experience here with eye exams for my three kids and for me, getting glasses for all 3 kids, and getting colored contacts for me. They were patient teaching how to put the contacts in (huge change from our previous provider), very sweet to the kids while they explained everything they were doing, and were knowledgeable about all of the latest tests, procedures and products available. They let all three kids try on a LOT of glasses without rushing us or pressuring us to hurry. Each kid had his/her own "helper" looking through the styles and suggesting what might work best for face shape, hair color, style, etc. We all ended up with styles that we love (also a big difference from our previous eye doctor's office!). We had tried them because the location was so convenient, but are absolutely switching providers and staying with them. I was really impressed with everything! (Edited to add: Just read a couple of the other reviews and wanted to respond. I am 100% certain that our prescriptions are correct and that the testing was all done correctly. Not sure what happened with the other person...? Also, the current staff was SUPER friendly. Not the type that pretends to like kids but you can tell they're annoyed, but instead were honestly, genuinely friendly and great with my children. Central serous retinopathy was my diagnosis after going through 3 different doctors. Wake Forest Family Eye Care failed to find it the first 3 times I went in for an appointment with complaints of vision loss in my right eye. The first time I went in, the doc seemed more concerned with selling me 400.00 lenses and stated that because of my astigmatism these particular lenses would solve the problem. I went back about a month later after trying my glasses out and continued to have the same problems with my right eye. The doc did a 5 minute exam and placed the blame on the techs stating that the pupillary distance was probably off and they'd cut a new pair of lenses, no charge. A couple weeks later, I go in, get my lenses and I'm still having the same issues with my right eye. At this point, I'm done...and I'm looking for a new doc. I get some recommendations for a good guy in the Wake Forest area. I explain the problem, and he spends a solid hour doing the most thorough exam I've ever had at an Eye Doc's office. He tells me it looks like Central serous retinopathy and sends me to a retina specialist who confirms his diagnosis. My opinion, you just can't do a half ass job when it comes to taking care of someone's vision. read more

Unfortunately, this is the WORST SERVICE I have ever received in my whole life . I visited the branch in 110 capcom ave. wakeforest. the eye testing went well, then I ordered a simple bifocal lens and I gave them my own frame to fit the lens. they told me initially that It will take around 10 days. I visited them atleast 5 times. 2 times they put wrong lens. Finally, after 60+ days, they returned my frame with a lense which is not according to my requirement and suggested to take a refund. I asked them to give me my old lens so that atleast I can use that, but they lost that also. Totally unprofessional and unethical service. if they cant fix a very basic lens, why they are running this store? even after taking my time and giving my all inconveniences, they were not even courteous to give me a solution. I have lost my existing lens, lost my time, fuel, effort, energy and got a 'sorry' in return. Now I have to go to another store and start everything from beginning! it is not worth to call this a 'service'! this is just creating trouble and no care for customer. period. read more

I was happy with Dr. Price and felt I received some good information from him in addition to the exam. However, I was sold a year's supply of contacts (in fact, it is only 48 weeks) for 280.00. They assured me that the rebate information they gave me would save me an additional significant amount. That rebate turned out to be 20.00. At the time of my visit, I mentioned getting my contacts from Walgreens and the woman said that was a terrible place to get contacts. I assured her that I had purchased contacts from Walgreens many times before and was very pleased. In hindsight, buying contacts here was a mistake. I could have bought the exact same contacts and quantity for $183.20. That is almost $100.00 less. They are obviously in the business of reaping profits on the sale of contacts and glasses without regard to what is in the best interest of the patient. I always vote with my "pocketbook or wallet" and don't like to feel that I have been abused in the process. I will not be returning here for my annual exam. I sure was impressed with my first visit with me eye exam. Then when I talked about getting glasses, the girl that helped, all she was concerned about was showing me the most expensive glasses. She DID NOT even listen to me about the types of glasses I wanted. Well I went somewhere else to purchase my glasses. When I received my new glasses, the RX was incorrect. So I went back to My Eye Dr. and they blamed the other company stating the lenses were incorrect, when all along, the equipment at My Eye Dr. was broke and reading the RX 1.0 higher then they were. I was informed by my My Eye Dr. that their equipment was broken and it had just been replaced. So I had a second exam. Still my RX was incorrect. Funny to say from a previous review on YELP, it's my right eye. My Eye Dr. still blamed the other company. Okay, idiot me due to finances, went back because of insurance. I explained the situation with all my documents of previous Eye exams. Dr Price said "Oh, do you want me to exam your eyes again? I said, yes. I am not a Dr. and I would like them examined again for the 3rd time.". I just couldn't believe my ears. The Eye Dr still had excuses even though they told me their equipment needed to be replaced due to the miss reading of glasses. How in less than 2 months could my eye exam have 3 different prescriptions? I just do not think it was fair at all that where I purchased my glasses had to replace my lenses three times for the faulty equipment at My Eye Dr. Thankfully, where I purchased my glasses, were more than happy to help me for the 3rd time with new lenses. Yes Walmart, in Wake Forest has the most caring employees in the Eye Care Department. They have gone out of their way to help me I will NEVER set foot again into My Eye Dr.. on Capcom Dr.. I have emailed customer care and asked for their patients rights and or policy and procedures. And the response I received is "While I cannot provide a specific document related to patient satisfaction or a customer care policy, I can direct you to our website". This was my first time going to this location. The staff was friendly enough. The optometrist was very kind and answered all of my questions. My issue comes after my eye exam. I pick out my glasses... the man that assisted me with that was very helpful. Today, when I went to pick up my glasses I was shocked. I was told to have a seat at one of the tables and someone would be right with me to get me my glasses. A few minutes later one of the front office staff comes up, asks me my name and goes back to get my glasses. She comes back hands me my glasses, after I pay the other half of what was a hair shy of $500 for one full set of glasses and just lenses for an old set of frames. Now, my issue is, no one checked to make sure they fit on my face properly. They were loose so I asked if the arms could be adjusted. She took them back, adjusted them and gave them back to me. This is the first time since I've been wearing glasses (since kindergarten... I'm 39) that someone didn't take the time to make sure they fit properly... and they don't. I am wearing the old pair that have the new lenses until I have time to get someone to adjust my new pair. I'm very disappointed. I could have done like I did last year and got cheap ones online. I had a recent problem where I broke my glasses, and they assisted me with a replcement from the manufacturer RMA process.

This used to be a wonderful office before they rebranded from Eye Car Associates to My Eye Doctor. The Doctors and nurses are great, but when they transitioned, the office staff became extremely unprofessional. Everytime I call, they complain to me that "their system" is backed up and causing basic functional delays (ex. takes forever to pull up any info). This is expected initially after a company transition, but it has been over a year since they rebranded! I also had the same experience with ordering contacts as a previous reviewer. When I finally went to pick up my new box of contacts (included in my yearly care plan), they handed me a ziplock bag with 3 contact lenses in it and told me I could get more at my next appointment. When I told the receptionist that I was used to getting a whole box, another receptionist had a belittling power trip on me, telling me that's all I needed and too bad. I found her reaction and attitude very unprofessional and classless. I will be taking my business somewhere else. read more

The only thing this location seems to do well is admit their embarrassing mistakes. The optometrist who gave me my first exam MISSED my astigmatism. Despite my mentioning it as a reason I preferred glasses while speaking to her and her having my current prescription on file. Second, she gave me a progressive lenses to help with my computer work. What??? Finally the useless fitting assistant happily fitted me with frames that had non adjustable arms despite my asking to confirm they were adjustable. Two weeks later I found that out on delivery. After two days of increasingly bad headaches and sore ears from Poor fitting frames I took them back, got a new exam and discovered my prescription had never even changed! I also picked new frames with the lense technician, who actually had a clue and was pretty awesome. New frames were half as much and when I asked about refund, I was told the manager would call me. Never happened. Anyways I finally got decent pair of glasses today and received my refund after pointing out the price difference totally almost 200 dollars. No notes on my account or offer from them to take care of it, I had to ask for it and watch them do the math with the original receipt I provided. Oh and my new glasses needed serious adjustment. I do not have Vision coverage but I felt that I got a great deal for my Eye Exam and two great pairs of frames. I have been going to this location for about 2 years and will continue. Eye Doctor and staff very helpful, they assist me to choose frames within my budget, explain the costs to me in details and provided a nice discount. I will continue to visit this location. It is better to stay with someone that knows my eye history and not move from place to place. Good frames are very important as I keep my frames for many years. My first call I was hung up on, and after calling back and being put on hold for 6 minutes, the receptionist informed me everyone was too busy and she would take my name and number and have someone call me back. I have been going to Eye Care Associates since the early 1990s. I have used several different offices over the years and was happy there was one in Wake Forest. Initially I saw Dr. Chad Morgan and he was awesome. He seems to have moved to a different office last year. Dr. Jason Price is has replaced him and I find him efficient and professional. The reception staff is friendly and also efficient. However, when checking out and attempting to order contacts, I found a lot lacking. I understand they need to make money and by selling glasses they make it. However, when I state I am not interested in buying new glasses and just want to buy my year supply of contacts I consider the sales pitch to be over. Unfortunately, it was not. I had to decline buying new glasses 4 times. The process of checking out took 35 minutes (seeing the doctor took less than 30). I decided to postpone buying my supply of contacts after seeing the mess it was just to finish checking out. I am extremely disappointed in the process. I've been buying contacts for many years from Eye Care Associates and it shouldn't take 35 minutes to walk out empty handed. read more

While my experience with the optometrist is always pleasant, professional and thorough there is always some delay or issue that cannot be accounted for. Last year, it took me 1 year to get a pair of glasses. The initial prescription was completely wrong and it took another 2 weeks for them to get it correct for a total of 1 month. In an effort to move forward and let bygones be bygones, I attempted to secure another pair of glasses this year. I was advised it would cost a bit more out of pocket this year as some of my benefits were bi-annual. I was willing to take on the expense. I was assured of the pick up date and called a couple of days in advance to avoid any surprises. Unfortunately, I was met with attitude and made to feel there was no delay and I needed to be patient. After being placed on hold again, I was then told there was a delay as the glasses arrived incorrect again and was sent back. I was given yet another date for pick up but when I called to ensure they were ready I was told that there would be yet another delay as the glasses did not pass inspection. Then told they could give me a slight reduction but I would still incur a balance.
