When your craving Greek food, there's many great restaurants around NYC and the Island. There are exceptions to this, however Mykonos in Smithtown checks the box on the awesome scale, and has great service to match. Fresh coming from a recent Greece trip, my Mediterranean juices were flowing. I really wanted to keep that train moving. Greek food in general should offer quality, simple ingredients without the garbage additives, delicious food. And that's what I keep craving, and that's what this place delivers. Really nice menu. Great options top down. Traditional and beyond. I LOVE the fact I can get Branzino here. It's almost always my go to when I do Greek however I do gravitate towards the meats of course. The restaurant is clean, reliable service and timely. Can't go wrong here. I definitely recommend.

The salad with falafel is huge! It could easily be 3 meals. Fresh and full of ingredients, it was super filling and really enjoyable. The falafel was perfectly made- crispy on the outside and soft inside. A bit spicy, and so fresh. The stuffed grape leaves also were amazing (I got the appetizer), again so well made and fresh. It's easy to miss this spot as it's in a strip of other businesses, but it's definitely a must-try!

We walked in about dinner time. All the chairs were placed upside down on every single table in the place. For somewhere that opens at 11am that day... by 5pm, it looked like it was either just opening or just closing. So, EVERY SINGLE chair flipped upside down on top of all the tables. Not a single place to sit or table to use. A guy came out and started mopping the dining room. These are all signs that a place is closing. Not a single customer in sight. As you can imagine, it was confusing. I did a double take and saw another guy at the counter. "Are you still open?" I inquired. He gave me a scowl and a brief response as if I was crazy to ask this question. I can't say if he's just one of the those people that doesn't know his facial expressions are naturally unwelcoming, or if he honestly was annoyed by our presence as customers. It was really off-putting. At no point did he smile or seem welcoming, which made it feel like they were ready to close at 5pm and we walked in. I'm sure it's not the case, but this all seemed so weird. So yeah, service sucked. Honestly, I don't know if that guy is an employee or family of owner, but my god, put him somewhere not customer facing. Other than that, the food was great. I enjoyed it all. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be back. The food was worth coming back for, but the service was just the most unwelcoming thing I've ever seen. Also, who mops the floor in the middle of dinner hour and places all the chairs up? If there was a reason, you should probably tell the customers coming in... "OH hey, welcome! Yeah, just cleaning up the floors. It'll be a minute, but come check out the menu"... It's that easy. Get this guy some training behind the counter.

The wait was short and the food was incredibly fresh and very well made. It was one of the better chicken gyros that I've had, it was clearly roasted and seasoned perfectly. The worker inside told her that the gf pita is good and doesn't have that weird texture bite and she was correct. It is now terrible. Big mistake. There are burgers joints everywhere. I went there to pick up a takeout (by the way, the menu has changed. The fried calamari, which was excellent is gone. It was fresh because they included the tentacles which you can't buy in the frozen rings which suck). Pete's is as correct as it gets. I moved out to Long Island recently. Took less than a week for the queens food cravings to kick in. I looked around and found Pete the Greek. Pete if you're reading this, it's love. I commute through queens every single day. Ask me when's the last time I had a gyro in queens. Ask me when's the last time I had ANYTHING in queens other than traffic. Me and my wife are foodies in the highest form. Pete's spot is becoming a weekly habit in our household. I don't even need to ask what she wants. I just show up with the bag that has gyros the size of a family platter and I get welcomed more than a check you didn't expect to get. Let me explain, the pita is legit with no tears and soggy portions(you can smell it can't you), the veggies are fresh and CRISP my guy/gal. (your mind just made the crunch sound didn't it) the cheese and white sauce are wilder than a group of kids with no babysitters around. As for the meat of choice, pause on this but there's enough to go two rounds if you're more focused on the long haul. You're going to have to bite this thing like a gentle mike Tyson listening to Motown in the boxing ring while your eyes are closed and you're dancing under dim lights; it'll get you where you need to be, in God damn flavortown. But you can go slow. It's not here to hurt you, it's only going to crush it's competition by taking one customer over at a time. If you live out here and choose to go to a different Greek spot, either I'm missing some marbles, or you're smoking them. I want to try everything in that place. Even the damn napkins have to at least smell nice. So here we are, you've made it to the end. Congratulations. And you're welcome, if you almost walked into chipotle instead, you almost lost your destiny. But you're saved now. You chose Pete's. And your significant other now knows what she wants to eat. Bless. All is right. And to all a goodnight. (Insert LL Cool J peace sign kiss here) PS: buy the pita and hummus side too. Get an extra white sauce on the side and you can finagle your own bagel as you please with all that extra meat you're failing at holding with both hands. I said what I said.
