Myo is back! Since this is their first official week back in the covid-season, they are currently having a strict policy for their clients. ALL clients must wear a mask at all times, even when they are getting a massage. In addition, they lock their doors, so make sure to call prior to entering. Once you are in, you must step inside a designated area where they will instruct you on what to do next. I had Wendy as my massage therapist, and she is wonderful! Initially, the mask is slightly uncomfortable (especially coming in from the Texas heat), but once you start to mellow, you'll get used to it. Wendy is not only pleasant, but she is also very knowledgeable. Before we began, she asked what were the issues I was having today. I informed her that my neck, and upper back muscles were tight due to working from home/bad posture, along with just genetically weak hips. I knew my left side was going to be a piece of work, but what I didn't realize was how tender my right side would be! As soon as she touched my rhomboids, I forgot those even existed because they were so tight! Wendy checks on the firmness of her massage periodically to see if more or less pressure needs to be added/removed. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Well, I've been going to Myo for over 10 years now, and I've been about 100 times (not exaggerating) - so I suppose it's time to write them a review! It's so cool to see how far they've come, from their start in the tiny little studio on the east side. Since they opened the Triangle location, they have continuously improved, expanded, remodeled, etc. and it is just beautiful now. Catherine, one of the owners, was originally my regular therapist for many years. Then I started branching out to other therapists when I needed massage on short notice and she wasn't available. My personal favorites have been Katie Johns, Sarah Slack, and just today I had Kay Manis for the first time - she was amaaaaazzziiinng. I've had some therapists at Myo who were not the best fit for me... but I think everyone vibes differently with different types of therapists, and you just have to find the one(s) that work for you. Either way, there have been very few times that I didn't love my experience - and the management has always made it right afterwards. I like that you can book online and there's so many therapists to choose from. Getting a massage same-day or short notice normally is not a challenge. I haven't tried any of their yoga/exercise classes yet, but I might soon. I do wish Myo offered more "spa" like services like bath soaks, table showers, body scrubs/wraps, etc. They used to offer a few services like that, but not any more. Maybe that will come with their next expansion! All in all, I love Myo and hope to be a lifetime customer. read more

This was my first experience at MYO. I had a gift certificate here and finally made the appointment. Making an appointment was so easy online. I booked a 90min deep tissue massage with CBD oil. After making the online appointment, I received a text regarding my appointment and any basic information I needed ahead of time to prepare for my appointment. Once arriving to MYO, I called from my car letting them know that I had arrived and I was able to walk inside. The protocols for Covid made me feel safe (temperature checks, employees and guests required to wear masks, asked if I experienced symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who was experiencing symptoms, very thorough)! I was asked to wash my hands and wait for my massage therapist once I was finished. Kelly was so kind and welcoming! She asked what I needed the most work on body, asked if I wanted the music changed etc. Setting it to my comfort level which I appreciate. The massage itself was AMAZING. Highly recommend adding that CBD oil to your massage. Kelly definitely knows the anatomy of the body. There were points on my back that needed pressure that I had no idea about so thank you!!! Once it was finished, she walked me out through a different door to ensure there was no contact with anyone else. They had texted me asking what gratuity I wanted to add and I was on my way! I've regularly received massages here since 2018 except when COVID was especially bad. I tried to go somewhere closer to me after that, but I quickly returned to Myo. Over time, I've seen three therapists at this location, and everyone has been great. Prior to coming to Myo, I preferred massages at private practices because I prefer to keep the same therapist. However, Myo's ambiance and caring staff prevent it from feeling like a large massage business. I enjoy everything Myo has to offer and for the most part have been able to keep a consistent therapist. The front desk staff at Myo are especially friendly & helpful, and they can quickly recommend therapists based on who you've seen before and your preferences. I'm also impressed that their front desk staff recognize me by name when I come in, since other customers are also there for appointments at the same time. Regarding my current therapist, I've been seeing Stephen for the past 4 months. Stephen is great at listening & receiving feedback. He is also excellent at adapting to bodily pains that arise or change during treatment. I came to Stephen when I first developed full blown sciatica, and he showed incredible patience with my body as pain moved throughout it during our sessions. He gladly works on my same problem areas when they act up at random times. I feel like most therapists would put a limit of how many times they would go back to the same problem area in a session, but not Stephen...he works on the problem area until it quiets, and then he moves on, returning to it when needed. I'm not sure how he makes it to full massages during our limited hour while still effectively addressing my moving pain, but somehow he always accomplishes it. Now that my pain has greatly improved (with help from Stephen), I am now able to receive a good mixture of body work and relaxation during our sessions. read more

Rarely get to splurge - but for last few years have been given 90min massage for Mother's day. This year Heidi worked on me and my stressed and sore muscles. She definitely had great experience and I could tell she understood ab anatomy - great, relaxing but effective stretches on my shoulders and legs. While working gently, she gave perfect amount of pressure to work-out my kinks. The space is always clean, quiet with a good vibe. I highly recommend Pat as a queer-friendly massage therapist who specializes in post-surgical massage and who is attentive, open-minded, and very accepting. Their massages help my body function better with less chronic pain in spite of my disability and rare orthopedic disorder, and I'm deeply grateful. They're always careful, considerate, but (at my specific request), they also don't treat me like a glass figurine like so many practitioners do when they learn I break bones easily. I appreciate the extra research they did on my condition, the way they ask about new x-rays and double-check to make sure I'm scheduled in an accessible room in case I need my wheelchair. Pat has shown such thoughtfulness and the questions they ask show they clearly wanted to learn more in order to help me. Their expertise helps reduce the chronic pain I face every day, whether they're giving me a post-surgery massage or a little carpal tunnel soothing and release. Earlier this year, Pat helped me recover from a femur reconstruction surgery that left me with a healing incision from hip to knee, and difficulty laying on my stomach or side, with difficulty transferring from my wheelchair to other furniture. They went above and beyond to keep me feeling safe, relaxed, and comfortable, and gave me meaningful care that was pivotal in helping me recover faster than I would have otherwise. I have skeletal problems that give me different length legs, scoliosis, and a disability. When you break bones easily, you don't chose a massage therapist lightly. My bones and I are feeling grateful we have found a wonderful healer I can trust. I've been taking classes at Myo for the last three months, and I'm in love. Rachel's core barre class has totally changed my muscle tone and boosted my energy levels, and her constant kind encouragement is just what I need to push myself more. Erica's dance workout is a blast, it's basically cardio and silly dancing with instant friends. Brooke's slow yoga on Wednesday nights is the most relaxing reset to my week, I swear I come out the other end of an hour a kinder, more patient person. Megan's slow yoga on Sundays is this awesome mix of super challenging and relaxing, and Melinda's restorative yoga class is the best centering start to a work week that you could ask for. Basically, I'm saying try all of the classes. If I could I would give this place 6 stars, since the massages are also awesome. The bios on the Myo website help you choose just the right massage therapist for you, depending on their specialization. I usually choose a different therapist depending on my current back and neck issues, and my needs (and knots!) have always been thoughtfully addressed. One therapist even showed me self massage I could do on my forearm to reduce the strain from typing all day, which was truly above and beyond. Go to Myo! You won't regret it. read more

I booked the romance retreat for my boyfriend and I while we were in Austin on vacation. Let me just say: wow. Booking online was easy then answered a few questions over the phone. We paid extra to get the whirlpool, which was really relaxing (though hot, so make sure to turn on the fan). Also, it was really romantic with the floating rose petals. We were later taken in for our massages next to one another. I had David, who was AMAZING. At one point, I began drooling and falling asleep he helped me relax so much - which has never happened before (I've had at least 4-5 massages prior to this at different places). It felt so good. My boyfriend had Catherine (Kathryn?), who he absolutely adored and she helped him with all his trouble spots as we both were hiking a lot prior to coming for our massages. Afterwards, we were taken to our lounge to hang out, which was just amazing. It included brie with bread, chocolate truffles, grapes, pineapple and strawberries. Also, there was a bottle of red wine (one of the questions from the phone call) waiting for us. They even played music based on our interests when we filled out our forms. If we lived in Austin, I swear this would be my go to spot! Amazing staff, really attentive, and great services for the prices! read more

Myo is awesome! It's little difficult to see Myo from the street. It's on the side of the building facing the railroad tracks. The waiting area has comfortable chairs and is quiet. Their questionnaire is two-sided and takes a while to complete, but the questions (like "do you prefer a warmer or cooler room?" and "what type of music do you prefer?") really are designed to make sure you get the best experience possible. I'd scheduled my boyfriend and I at the same time for a couples massage, so we were both in the same room. It's pretty tiny but that's more of a problem for the therapists who have to maneuver around both tables. The lighting is nice and the music system sounds good. I can't remember the names of either of our therapists but both of us were very pleased with our massages. I'll definitely be back. read more

There's nothing like paying for someone to torture you. Training for a half marathon, I developed painful shin splints that would not quit. I went to Myo Massage after reading that they offered sports massages. I got the 30 minute massage, as that's all I wanted to pay for and really, that's as much pain as I could take. Post massage torture, the tightness in my legs was gone and I could run with much less pain. I even went back for more a few weeks later. read more

Super clean environment -- their staff is REALLY GOOD at muscle massaging. I had a terrible pain in my neck and was slightly stiff in the shoulders. I couldn't even turn my neck all the way to check for oncoming traffic! I've gone to plenty other massage places that should envy Myo's techniques. ;) See what I did there? Some of the things they did were INTENSE. Not painful, but you knew they were going to town on a knot that you did not know about. It's expensive, but worth it. Quality over quantity, I like to say. I booked a same-day appointment at Myo when i was having some muscle pain that I just couldn't shake. The online booking process was a breeze-- I was impressed that I could get an appointment that same day, and that it was so quick to do so. The only hitch was that there is no pricing on their website or when you book, so I had to call to get that information. Drea, my therapist, was knowledgeable and skilled. She was able to give me relief from my pain through the massage itself, then also offered some suggestions about what I could do at home, which really helped. There were a couple of very affordable options in their store that Drea recommended; I appreciated that the products weren't forced down my throat or marked up exponentially, like they are at some massage places. The environment is a little chaotic, and the check-in process was a little clunky, because they're under construction, but I bet those kinks will be ironed out soon. Overall, I really liked Myo, I would recommend it highly, and I will be back. read more
