The east side studio is much smaller but still very nice. Their space is always clean and peaceful. All employees are pleasant and friendly. Myo offers the perfect massage for everyone. When you seriously need to work out some issues, try Pain Management. Barton is great at recognizing the source of the problem and addressing it. This massage tends to hurt a bit at the time, but you'll feel so much better in a day or two, much faster than if you take ibuprofen and use heating pads. When you have a trouble spot and otherwise need to de-stress, try The Myo. This lets your therapist recognize what you need and attend to it, then move on to relaxing you. I've seen a few different people for this-Tara, Rachel, Katie-and have always had a good experience. read more

So, I thought a massage was a relatively simple service that required some special training and licensure to do properly. And I though 'Myo' was just a name, not an abbreviation for something like 'Myofascial Release'. I was wrong. My experiences with one practitioner in particular here have been truly life-altering. These people really, really know what they are doing. Evidently the knowledge base is vast, ever-changing and subject to interpretation and debate, and the practitioners and leadership here are deeply involved in that discourse. As an avid martial arts practitioner, I am constantly bound up; I pull this or that, or I over-train and a muscle group gets too tight, or I just need someone to work out some of the knots from a long week of training. So I go to Myo. The sensations that I have during a session are almost indescribable. I am amazed by how a small amount of pressure in a few areas can loosen something I didn't even know was tight, in a different area than that which I thought the problem area was (such as in my quad, rather than my knee - though that's not a great example of what I mean). And, don't worry, they will bring all the deep tissue work you can stand, too. The spaces are quiet, clean, and nicely laid-out. Staff are welcoming, friendly, quick and competent. I feel relaxed just walking in to the place. This is a service far beyond what I expected going in. Worth every penny. read more

I've been going to Myo massage for years and I can't believe I haven't written a review! I looooove Myo massage. They offer everything - all kinds of bodywork and I've tried several of them.... I've had the Lymphatic drainage massage (provided great relief), Craniosacral massage, Myofascial Release, Zero Balancing, Deep Tissue, and some elements of Thai Massage (incorporated into a Deep Tissue massage session I think). I love it all! Oh, I've also done a deep soak therapeutic bath.... it's a real lifesaver if I'm in a lot of pain! I think in the future I'd love to try the abdominal massage they offer (Chi Nei Tsang or Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy) but I don't know anything about those. And maybe a full session of Thai Massage. I usually do the "Myo" and rely on my massage therapist to use the best techniques to address my body issues that day.... I've seen her for a long time so that works well. If you're a new client, this may not work.... not sure. Other things to love - it's clean, has a relaxing vibe, parking isn't too bad, and it's not a chain business or franchise. Locally owned, good people. I think they treat their massage therapists well - that is my impression at least. I'm being selfish and not giving my go-to massage therapist's name because it can take a couple of weeks to get in to see her....but I've had other massage therapists at Myo before I found her and you really can't go wrong. Myo Massage is in a great location and has staff that are truly excellent at what they do. Making the appointments, both original and follow-up, were easy and well managed. My therapist was precisely therapeutic - honing in on the issues I am having with my back and shoulder, doing a thorough assessment, informing me fully, making a good start at the treatment, and setting my expectations on what it will take to complete treatment. I knew my issues could not be resolved in a single treatment. She reinforced that, laid out what steps would be next and what to expect at each step. Pain management massages are not relaxing and enjoyable, they are work and involve pain to achieve their goals, so my session with the therapist met my expectations exactly. read more

Disappointed in the customer service provided to me as a new client. I made an appointment here for a lymphatic massage due to recent surgery and proximity to business. I made the mistake of giving them my credit card number before hand when I made the appointment and was reassured it was just to hold my massage time. At appointment time, I was called and asked if I was coming to get my massage. I heard the voicemail after the fact. I did indeed forget due to several different reasons but it was my responsibility nonetheless. I am not a person who forgets appointments but hey, I'm human. It happened to me for the 1st time. I quickly walked across the street to the business. When I arrived, I was told the masseuse had left. I was 15 minutes late. The receptionist and I made another appointment for the following day. They receptionist was kind and compassionate and felt the business owners would not charge me. Anyway, I did receive my massage the very next day by a very knowledgeable and kind lady. When I was checking out, I asked the receptionist if I was going to be charged for being late the day before. She didn't have any information to share with me so I assumed I was good. Today I saw my $72 charge for 30 minute massage and tip but then also saw $29 withdrawn from my account without my knowledge. No one called or text or informed me that this was going to happen to my account. I don't believe this is a good business practice. #1They are in the business of healing and helping but show little to no compassion. I would have accepted a warning notice at least. Our relationship could have moved forward because I had planned to visit regularly. #2 In our post-Covoid world, I thought people would be kinder and more emphatic #3 It is just not necessary really. The masseus was gone by the time I arrived so I apparently did not have her cancel an appointment or disrupt her life greatly. She was able to go home early. With all of that said, I wished I had made an appointment with a business that had a little room to give me. No harm no foul, right. I won't be returning and hope anyone else reading this know the business owners are not nice people. Period. read more

It's perfect for folks looking for a great massage without paying for an exorbitant spa experience. It's clean and professional, and the staff is wonderful. The people who work reception are always organized and it's super easy to get appointments when you want them. More importantly, the massage therapists are the best. I particularly love Tara for deep tissue massage. She really works out my issues and will completely tailor my massage to what I need, and she does different techniques that I hadn't experienced before. Also, in the rare cases I can't get Tara, I'm never concerned because I have never had a single therapist that wasn't great. I booked a 90 minute massage last minute as I just got into town and drove down from Dallas. Vanessa was great. She had over 13 years of experiences. The massage was exactly what I wanted. They have a very customized music for clients. I have had over 400-500 massages and this place is definitely the higher end of the massage chains I usually go to. It was priced at $120 but it seems this include tip. I usually pay $100 for 90 minutes in the saturated LA massage market. Typically fill out the form for first timers. There was a high end filtered water provided for clients. Some constructive feedback: the receptionist (booking and one there) did not know therapist years of experience. read more

Tara is fantastic, and I swear she helped heal a tendinitis that I'd had for eight months and for which I'd been to countless doctor appointments without much luck. She walked me through a dozen or so techniques she would use during a regular massage; it felt great and I'll be using the techniques throughout the week! I've come here a handful of times and like most of the therapists I've had. They're typically very knowledgeable and try to get to the root of whatever pain you're having. Most recently I had David L who was fantastic--varying pressure for different tissues and explanations of what he was feeling. I also had Jesse who wasn't very communicative--he used a LOT of pressure through his forearms and elbows, so if you like very deep massages, you'd be pleased (didn't feel great to me). 4 stars because therapists are a bit inconsistent. read more

I scheduled last minute with Katie Johns after many unsuccessful attempts at booking with my usual therapist at a business in town. I had read her bio and was delighted to see she had an evening opening. Right off the bat she introduced herself and gave me a firm handshake, a big win in my book. Despite having only sent it a few minutes prior, she had read my intake form and asked all the right questions and listened attentively to my responses. Regularly suffering from chronic pain, the massage was the perfect amount of pressure and attention in all the spots I needed it most. Today, I work up more rested than usual and am currently pain free. I cannot wait to schedule my next session with her! As far as the facilities go, walking in off of the sidewalk, I was immediately greeted by the front desk attendant. The space was calming and well appointed with many products and items for sale but lacking the typical retail in your face presentation. Imagine it's early in the afternoon on a Saturday and your boyfriend asks you what y'all should do with your day. You jokingly say, "a couple's massage" and he is 100% all about that idea. Wait, seriously? Yep, totally into it. Saturday is all booked, but there's plenty of openings on Sunday! Appointment scheduled. The day of the appointment, I could not wait. I'd only ever had one massage, but I was so ready for this one. We chose the Myo, which is a customized massage utilizing deep tissue work. Heck yes. Upon arrival, you fill out a form if it is your first time. On the form, you list any medical conditions, where you experience pain, what kind of pressure you prefer, what kind of massage you're interested in, and your preferences regarding oil or lotion, temperature, and music. I didn't even know you had so many choices! We were called back to the room where our massage therapists introduced themselves and went over the forms with us. Katie V. was my therapist and she asked which areas hurt the most and clarified things I had written. After telling her a little bit about all the pain in my shoulders and back and the headaches I have, she decided to focus mostly on my upper body, utilizing deep tissue work. She let me know how deep tissue massages worked because she wanted to make sure I was prepared. I was so ready. The massage itself was wonderful. It was deep tissue work, so there were points that definitely were on the "oh, that's intense" side, but nothing I couldn't handle. She was gentle, yet firm, and I was never once in pain. I was relaxed during the entire hour and it really flew by. Katie V. even showed me a stretch I could do at home to help with my shoulder pain, which was awesome. During the massage, I didn't really hear any outside noise and there were no distractions, which was fantastic. Katie V. was lovely and didn't break the atmosphere when checking in to make sure I was still okay and that everything was to my liking, including the temperature and the music. (And, since I now know that some places let you choose between oil or lotion, I definitely prefer lotion. Thanks, Myo!) My boyfriend, on the other hand, kept loudly saying, "I'm sorry?" whenever his massage therapist asked him to relax or to move. I was really having to stifle some giggles. (He has a hard time hearing soft voices. It's pretty funny.) Two days later, and I'm pretty pain free! I actually walked into the massage with a headache (allergy related) and I walked out with no headache, so I was really excited to see how my shoulder and back felt a few days later. My right shoulder has no pain - amazing. (My right shoulder always hurts and usually has some pretty painful knots in it, so this is fantastic to be able to use my computer at work without near constant shooting pain.) I'm really impressed with the quality of the massage and with the quality of Katie V.'s work. I can't wait to schedule my next appointment! read more

I came here because my usual place was booked up and I needed a massage on relatively short notice for some neck strain, and I'd heard of it because one of my past wonderful therapists, Wendy Powell, from Texas Healing Arts moved her practice here after they closed down. Very unhappy with my experience at Myo. When I'm paying this much for a 90 min massage, I expect a peaceful environment and friendly, helpful customer service. My massage therapist was absolutely skilled and lovely herself, but that's where my enjoyment ended. There were loud banging noises for at least 20-30 minutes of my massage, which she explained to me was because the kitchen was across the hallway and someone was doing dishes (?) along the same hallway where massage rooms are located. I figured they'd finish pretty quickly, but nope; it was very distracting. My therapist told me I could request a "quieter" room next time because this room was basically the worst one. I was horrified upon hearing this - why should I have to request a quiet room for my massage? I mentioned the noise to the employee at the front desk afterward, and he didn't seem the least bit interested - just wanted me to pay and leave. Based on the amount of people coming and going for massages at the same time, I figure they get enough business not to care about this one customer's issues (though I'm certain others have had a similar experience). My first impressions were reinforced when I sent them a message through the contact form on their website about my experience, offering them another opportunity to rectify, or even discuss, the situation before posting my thoughts. It's been 3 weeks and I've received no reply from a concerned manager/owner, so now Myo gets one star from me. (EDIT: Upped to 2 stars due to owner reply and message with offer for discount to come back, though I probably won't.) Try Mantis Massage instead. read more

He honestly has a special gift to be able to accomplish this yet still have the most nurturing approach I have encountered. Deborah M. is in tune to the nth degree to you. She told me some things about my 5' 9" stressed self that even after many massage therapists and boo-coos of massages I still didn't know - in part because no one had told me and in part because I think she is THAT talented when it comes to the human body. Terrible, convoluted process to book online. Our session was cancelled because they could not get a hold of us to get additional information. Booking online should be easy and worry free. All the information that is needed should be collected when you book the session, not a last minute game of back and forth via email or phone. At worst, collect all the necessary information during the booking and any follow up info can be provided when they come in for the session. I've never experienced this level of difficulty to get a couple's massage. read more

After reading all the reviews on Yelp about how great Myo was, I made an appointment. I was in awful pain from the tension in my neck and my regular massage therapist couldn't get me in. I called and they got me in that day. I was so glad to be going someplace that really looked great so I could get rid of the tension. I couldn't find the place at first, gave them a call and the friendly staff directed me straight over. I sat down, filled out my paperwork and did love the fact that you got to choose your own music! *awesome* I met my massage therapist, Katie, who seemed very nice and really seemed to listen to my concerns about my body. We talked about what my needs were and she made some great suggestions. However, I wasn't impressed by the massage... and ended up hurting badly that evening and am still (about two months later) in horrible pain that wasn't there before. She massaged my throat - the front of it - which ended up hurting badly later that night, to the point that I couldn't breathe without it hurting and would gag if I tried to eat. It was awful. When she was massaging my throat, I told her it was very uncomfortable. However, she didn't seem to think that it was harmful to me and even said something to the like of her not wanting to stop just because something was just uncomfortable. I also have pain in my elbow that keeps me from moving it freely now. My usual massage therapist has been working on me since then, trying to repair the damage. I can't even straighten my arm without horrible pain. Although the customer service is stellar, I would never return. read more

Nowhere in Maslow's hierarchy of needs does it say anything about massage therapy, but I personally think it ought to sneak its way in there, maybe in the middle of the pyramid, or somewhere at the bottom, right between "food" and "water." But that's just me. That said, I've been to my fair share of day spas and relieved (probably more than) my fair share of tension on massage tables throughout the greater southeastern United States - it's a healthy vice I'm willing to pay for. I just moved to Austin a few weeks ago and needed to undo some of the havoc I've wreaked on myself through driving 14 hours from Florida, sleeping on an air mattress for two weeks, living out of a suitcase, and eventually unpacking box after box. No small feat, right? Well, Courtney at Myo's eastside location in Saltillo Lofts didn't seem to think so. She had me blissed out and practically talking backwards in one hour's time. I loved, loved, loved the fact that they offered a checklist of different types of music choices. Want some African beats? You bet. Feel like throwing back to the 90s for some Moby or reaching even further for some jazz standards? Comin' right up. You can take your Enya and "nature-scape" CDs and shove 'em. Or, hey, if that's your thing, you can listen to that lady warble her way through 90 minutes of Celtic nonsense with water faeries and frogs urping right alongside her. Whatever you want. It's your world. For that alone, this place gets five stars. The space is unpretentious and soothing, with a light-blue-&-chocolate-brown color scheme and little round IKEA rugs scattered throughout to soften the otherwise industrial feel of the building. Prices are ridiculously reasonable for a place this professional with service this thoughtful. From now on, I'll be relieving my tension here on a monthly basis. read more
