I have been coming here since I moved to Washington from North Carolina. I am currently seeing Monica who also does my co workers color/extensions as well. Monica is very professional, talented, and considerate. She took the time to wash my extensions today, and blend the color in my hair / dust the ends. She is extremely talented and really detail oriented. I so appreciated that I know there is a lot of comments about price in the reviews - but you defiantly get what you pay for here. Hair is super personal to us and I highly recommend Monica for anyone seeking extensions/color. I recommend coming in open minded, and prepared. Lean in and trust who you are with. I never write reviews but I was am very motivated to let people know that I had a terrible experience here. Samara was my stylist and whilst, she is very nice -- she is not experienced enough to do color professionally. Please be warned that I spent 3 hours in that chair and spent nearly $300 only to walk out with my hair darker than when I arrived (I paid for blond highlights). Not only am I disappointed but now I have to wait until my poor scalp heals until I can get recolored. The salon was attentive to my feedback and refunded half of the color cost (should have been all of it). But honestly, I will not get back my time nor will I get the chance to do my birthday over again; I had to stomach the photos for my newly dulled color to mark the occasion. Don't go! read more

My service was ok, the hair cut I got was a nice trim and it looks good but the experience was awkward and mid she kept asking me if she should wash my hair or style it where as most services I've gotten for this price just include that kind of thing, you know to make it nice. This review is specifically for the Capitol Blvd Location. First, THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. I mean SUPER expensive as in more than most salons in the area. Secondly, when I asked for price points, I was given very non committal answers. I know you cant tell me exactly how much a service will be until you get in there and start looking at my hair but a ballpark figure should be doable as I got estimates from other salons in the area. Anyhoo I got my hair foiled and it ended up being just a partial foil which was more expensive than initially quoted. The hair stylist barely spoke to me. I am not one to have a full conversation for the entire time I am there but make a little bit of an effort? All told, my hair looked good but for the price I expected excellent. I'm not one to complain about haircuts. I'm not that attached to my hair and figure it will grow back, but this is honestly the worst haircut I've ever had in my almost 50 years on this planet. Seriously, it looks like a mushroom on my head. The hair is about an inch shorter than I wanted with tons of unexplainable and very noticeable choppy pieces. There are areas that don't lay right because there wasn't enough thinning done there and then numerous areas that make zero sense to have chopped so heavily, specifically on top where it's so noticeable. I am distraught as this was not at all the look I was going for. I had a better haircut at the beauty college earlier this year. I will not be returning and plead with anyone considering trying this salon to please do your research on stylists and ensure that they come highly recommended. read more

I went in for a curly cut and a facial, and had the best experience!! Although the facial was fine, the curly cut with Stephanie was a thing of beauty; she took so much time making sure that I understood exactly how to take care of my curls when I went home and ensured I looked my best on my way out the door. I didn't realize how labor-intensive a curly cut is, but Stephanie made it look easy. She did explain every step and product she used, but I didn't feel pressured to buy any of them, it was very laid back and so fun that I booked my return appointment before leaving the salon! I've been going to LoneStar for YEARS, and have had such consistent, beautiful haircuts and color! Nicole is super professional and friendly, and most important, does an excellent cut and color. I had just gotten my hair done when the pandemic hit....and that cut/color was BEAUTIFUL for almost the entire 3 months of salon closure!!!! Yes, it got a bit shaggy and the color lightened, but the shape and tone of my hair was GREAT. Made me realize just how special her cuts are. LoneStar takes many precautions due to COVID: you have to wear a mask, you have to wash your hands thoroughly when you come in, your stylist wears a mask the whole time, everyone is spaced out (-; aka socially distanced, the hair-wash stations are separated by framed barriers, and she disinfects that area when I go back to the cutting chair. Just having moved to the area and with an upcoming wedding, finding a hair salon was a top priority! I had a friend recommend this salon and specifically Kaity. The salon has a really pretty rustic look with tasteful decorations while still maintaining a clean and tidy appearance. I love how they keep their products in the back so that there aren't messy sticky bottles everywhere, and the floors are swept after every hair cut. The stations each have a simple comfortale chair and a large beautiful mirror. Very minimalist which allows for multiple stylists without it looking overly crowded or busy. Each time I've visited I have been warmly greeted by someone in the reception area and offered a beverage. Kaity has been an absolute delight to work with and has addressed all of my concerns. I am not exactly the easiest case. Firstly, I picked the best time to experiment with my hair, right before my wedding! Secondly, I've never experimented with my hair...ever. I have very long blonde curly hair that has only ever been cut once a year by the same stylist since I was 10. I know, how is that even possible? What can I say, my old stylist loved food and cats, we were meant to be. Having done so little with my hair in my adult life, literally everything is new to me in the styling world. I wanted my hair to be a bit blonder the way it was when I lived in Arizona and had more sun, but not so much that I really look too different. Simple right? Hi Kaity- noones ever done anything to my hair before. I want you to change it. But don't really change it. Got it? Lucky for me she got it despite my poor direction. She gave me a perfect cut that kept me in my comfort zone, a wonderful wash, massage from heaven, and a keratin treatment that had the Fiance purring over how soft my curly locks were. The balayage she did for me was subtle and not as intimidating as I expected my first ever coloring to be. After a few days with it I decided I was bolder and a little more would actually be closer to what I wanted. Kaity was fantastic and got me right in and added just the right amount. I have to say, I avoided ever doing anything to my hair in fear of having regrets. Thanks to Kaity I got to alter my color free of regrets! I look forward to our wedding hair trial next month. They have been very proactive about already scheduling my wedding in August to ensure they have enough stylists to get me and my girls in and out on time! Price was very affordable for how much hair I have, how long my stylist spent with me, and for the quality of the work. Definitely recommend this salon. read more

This is a CUT AND STYLE review only, I have not had any highlighting/balayage work done here. Although, I had such a good experience I might stray from my hair colorist and give Stephanie a shot! I have wavy/dry/frizzy/heat damaged hair and so the last 3 months I have been transitioning to deva curl products (which I love) and wearing my hair natural, trying to bring my hair back to life. Its been a hard road trying to find a good hairstylist in Olympia and I have often had my trims turn into cuts and my curls butchered. Stephanie took the time and dry cut my curls (also known as a deva cut). She was thorough, detailed, gave me a much needed head and neck massage and gave me tips and lessons on how to care for my curls at home. The salon was clean and everyone was so friendly. I'm just really happy I took the chance with Stephanie. I've been to a handful of places for a cut and style and Stephanie is definitely my go to girl! read more

I have been going to see Shera at lone-star salon. I went in with fried bleached hair that was done at a different salon 18 months before. I had been letting my hair grow out since it was destroyed . I had no idea if my hair could be fixed or if what I wanted could even be achieved . But Shera made it possible. My first appointment was in October 2022 and she cut off the damaged hair and did some highlights along with a root shadow and a metal detox treatment. I was amazed by the transformation it was more then I could if ever hoped for. and since then I have been going to see Shera every 8 weeks to slowly add more blonde back into my hair so that we could get the look I was going for without compromising the integrity of my hair . Today was my third hair coloring service with Shera and I am totally in love with the results . Everytime she does my hair I end up loving it more then the time before which I didn't think was possible. Shera has gotten my hair to look better then the inspiration picture and get it to look like I have always wanted it to .I will always continue to go to Shera. Everyone at lone star salon is very talented and kind you really can't go wrong there .Iv had my daughters hair cut there as well. Since my daughter has very curly hair I love that they do a curly hair method cut and style . I have learned a lot about how I should style my hair and my daughters. I do and will recommend everyone to this salon and to Shera . My hair always feels super silky soft after an appointment .I'm going to go back and buy the other shampoo and conditioner and products she used one me. I have bought some of the products she used on me like the metal detox shampoo and conditioner that I got off her recommendation and another 2 product that I use to style my hair off her recommendation as well. I have the absolute worst luck with them and have serious anxiety about getting haircuts because they always turn out so awful. They were able to get me in today with Brittany and I can't say enough good things about her! I showed her the original picture of what I had wanted, and said that I knew it might not be possible now given the unevenness of the cut, and showed her a 2nd back up picture. She took one look at it, looked at my hair and went "This is totally fixable! Might not be exactly like that right now, but I'll cut it in a way to set you up for that style next time you come in." I really wanted to like this salon. The location is very ideal, the setting is comfortable and trendy. I read a lot of amazing reviews across multiple sites so I thought I would give it a try. In fact, I gave it 4 tries. And I was disappointed every single time. Just the initial process of trying to get an appointment is extremely difficult. You have to take a personality test, which at first seemed interesting to me, but the process was arduous and frustrating. It matched me with 3 stylists, and they would only offer me an appointment with one, who is a stylist in training. Then you have to have a consultation to meet the person, and only after that will they let you set up an appointment. I finally got an appointment, and it was 2 weeks out. I spent the entire 2 weeks sending the stylist pictures of my current hair, and what I wanted done. She sent me an email for the booking that included all the treatments that were going to be completed. When the day came, she called me less than an hour before the appointment and cancelled on me. I understand that life circumstances happen, so I rescheduled. We continued to discuss the plan for what I wanted and settled on the exact thing. Or so I thought. I went in for the appointment 2 weeks later, she did not do one of the treatments I was booked for, and she did not in any way, shape or form do my hair like the photos I had spent now a month sending her. I even verified halfway through the appointment with the photo "This is what we are doing, correct?" and she said yes. It was not. I left angry and frustrated, and paid over $250 for it. The next day I contacted her and expressed that I was unhappy and she said she would reschedule me to fix it. What ensued next was over 10 days of her failing to return my messages to get it booked. I finally called the office and asked to talk to the manager for a refund, and she finally returned my call and booked me, again another 10 days out. This time she did an acceptable job. It still wasnt what I wanted but it at least looked nice. At that point, I booked another appointment for June 24. But when I got the confirmation text later that day after I left, she had actually booked it for July 24th. Well, here it is, July 24th, because I couldn't get in any sooner with her, and one hour before my appointment again today, she cancelled on me. They could not offer me an appointment to have my service completed before September. I am completely done, and will not ever go back. I gave this salon 4 different opportunities to provide good customer service and it failed every single time. I do not recommend at all. read more
