This spot is super clean, cute, and has such a warm, welcoming vibe. There are so many options to choose from, but I went with the turkey sandwich because I'm a girl that likes her turkey!. They were not shy with the turkey (which I love), and the Italian dressing took it to a whole new level! So flavorful and perfectly balanced. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture because it was devoured within minutes! I ended up sharing with my mom and she was wowed as well! I also tried the tiramisu, and it was absolutely out of this world. Honestly, I would've bought every single one if they had any left (I bought the last one, lucky girl!) Safe to say, this is officially my new go-to sandwich spot and the best part is I can have it for lunch literally everyday!

I didn't care to know about any other sandwich other than the Italian sub. I ordered two Italian subs just in case I liked it, along with tiramisu, lemon cake and some potato salad. Italian sub is a 10 out of 10! The desserts are fantastic and the potato salad is unique. I will now claim this as my favorite sandwich spot here in Bakersfield.

Hola from the 661!…read more Stopped by Honey I'm Home around 3 PM for breakfast--wow. The food was seriously delicious! Our waitress recommended the chicken fried steak, and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. I even downsized the portion, and it was still huge! My buddy ordered the eggs with biscuits and gravy and couldn't stop talking about how it was one of the best he's had in California. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. You won't be disappointed!

She even gave us several samples of ice cream, which were delicious. Amaya was very nice and took the time to stop and have conversations with us. Genuinely a nice person! Service was 5 stars. The food was good. The tri tip and chicken fried steak were full of flavor and seasoned well. The only negative we would say about the food is the tri tip was a little on the dry side, and the chicken fried steak was mostly batter. Both still tasted good, though. Just wished the tri tip was juicier and chicken fried steak was proportioned better with meat vs batter. Sides were really good (descriptions in the pics). Food was 4 stars. Atmosphere is very old school feel. They even had the Price Is Right from probably the 70's or 80's playing on the tv. Brought back funny memories. Overall, recommend. Very good local restaurant.

The California Burger - First Time Visit…read more First time trying The California Burger and ordered it for pickup. Right off the bat, the staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the prices are very fair, which already puts it in good standing. I ordered the California Burger, which comes loaded with avocado, onions, pickles, shredded lettuce, onion, 2 little half slices of bacon though, tomato, cheese, and their house sauce. Big plus that the avocado was fresh! and they didn't skimp on it (thank you ), and I really liked the shredded lettuce instead of the usual sad leaf situation. The sauce deserves a shoutout too! it's genuinely tasty and ties everything together nicely. Overall, the flavors were pretty good. Now for the honest part: the patty itself was a bit dry, which is kind of a big deal when it's the main event. That said, the generous amount of sauce definitely helped counteract the dryness. And honestly, when you're starving, there's a moment where you just say "whatever" and keep eating--and I did . It wasn't horrible by any means, just not quite on the level of a couple other burger spots I usually go to. The patties are on the thinner side, but that seems to be the norm at most casual burger joints these days. This feels like an easy fix though, cook the patties a little less and this burger would level up fast! Would I swear off this place forever? No. But if I know there's a better burger option open, that's probably where I'll go first. That said, if it's a Sunday, I'm craving a burger, and all my usual spots are closed... yeah, I'd consider coming back. Maybe. Solid spot, good flavors, and a little tweak away from being even better.

This time around, I decided to try out the fish sandwich and my daughter wanted the club sandwich. She absolutely loved her sandwich which is great because as I mentioned...super picky kid. Me on the other hand, not impressed at all with the fish sandwich. First impression was it did look super fresh. The lettuce looked crisp and fresh and the fish was poking out of the sandwich which means good portions. But the fish was a bit dark, suggesting either old or dirty grease or cooked too long? Either way it was bland. I ended up having to douse it with a mixture of tarter, malt vinegar, ketchup and Tabasco sauce. I feel as though since this is a fish restaurant that is from the coast, the fish should be their best dish. But this is twice now that it has failed to impress me.
