Took the granddaughter the other night with MoMo. We had a blast the place was only about half full . The server was spot on and took time taking our order. Around the dining area are a bunch of TV's with all of your old time favorites. That is if you are from the 60's on. I ordered the fish n chips. It came with 3 filets with were friend to perfection. Someone the absolute best I've had in Bakersfield. The coleslaw could've been made by my mom from Georgia. I was a great Southern Slaw. The fries were cooked perfectly. A nice crunch but yet a little soft center. After dinner we had to hit the ice cream. The once Scherbs that was known to be at Brookside by Cal State then City Sandwich has it's home in Honey I'm and has been for a while. The first time we visited sometime last year my husband took me to breakfast on a random Tuesday and I was impressed, so we recently came back on a busy Saturday brunch and they STILL impressed me. Service was fast, staff was pleasant so everything was fantastic! So far, food has been good and I definitely will come back. It's way on the other side of town for me, but it's nice seeing lots of brunch options in Bakersfield these days. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day, so it's nice to know I have another option. There's lots of parking which is a plus, the other places struggle with parking which makes it hard to visit. Restaurant looks clean, it looks family oriented and they have tons of options for the family. They have tons of tables too, so there's room for everyone. The place stays busy so you know the food is fresh and they keep your coffee cup filled. I'm not sure how long this has been here since I barely visited last year, but if you haven't stopped by you definitely need to check it out. read more

Breakfast on a Tuesday morning. Dad had been wanting to try this place for breakfast so we made our way to the east side of Bakersfield. We ordered the following menu options. 1. MAN'S BEST FRIEND Omelette $18.59 sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar & monterey jack cheese. I added diced onions. I ordered the hash brown option and pancake. Per their website, one of their specialties are the "fluffy pancakes". Omelette had decent amounts of diced ham, sausage and bacon. I found this to be an omelette large enough to share. Hash browns were standard. Pancake was okay but nothing truly spectacular, just average in taste. The pancake was oversized enough to share. Overall I gave this a 8/10 2. PAUL BUNYAN $21.99, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, a 1/2 pound ham. Ordered with country potatoes and Rye toast. The bacon was amazing!! Thick cut bacon and cooked to perfection. Overall the breakfast was your standard breakfast and definitely large enough to share. 8/10 Restaurant was clean, tables were cleaned off as soon as customers left. And restrooms were clean and fully stocked. Plenty of free parking. Waitstaff were friendly and efficient. The ambiance is pretty laid back. They also have an ice cream bar with 26 gourmet ice cream flavors. read more

My wife and I came here on 4/24/26. Right from the start, the staff was friendly, especially our server Amaya. Amaya went above and beyond throughout our dinner. She even gave us several samples of ice cream, which were delicious. Amaya was very nice and took the time to stop and have conversations with us. Genuinely a nice person! Service was 5 stars. The food was good. The tri tip and chicken fried steak were full of flavor and seasoned well. The only negative we would say about the food is the tri tip was a little on the dry side, and the chicken fried steak was mostly batter. Both still tasted good, though. Just wished the tri tip was juicier and chicken fried steak was proportioned better with meat vs batter. Sides were really good (descriptions in the pics). Food was 4 stars. Atmosphere is very old school feel. They even had the Price Is Right from probably the 70's or 80's playing on the tv. Brought back funny memories. Overall, recommend. UPDATED REVIEW.. Christina was our waitress and now im gonna have to ask for her everyday I travel here..What a difference the waitress makes. Christina was the best thing that happened to us when walking in this second time at this establishment. She brought food to our table as soon as it came out (as we requested), without anything getting cold. And her attitude and sweetness make me want to come back. We started with the chili verde macaroni and cheese as a side dish to try the chili verde before we decided to order the omelette. The chili verde omelette, which had more chili verde than I've ever seen on a plate, let alone with an omelet, was great. The taste of the chili verde was just enough to give a kick, but not enough to turn you off of eating it. 5/5 stars. Next was the basic Denver ultimate, which my daughter doesn't eat meat, so we asked for the ham on the side. There was plenty of ham on the side, 5/5 stars, enough for me to put on the chili verde omelette. Next was the make your own chicken sandwich, which we ordered with grilled onions, pickles, thousand island, barbecue sauce, fries, and jalapeno. Great chicken sandwich. It was very crispy. However, the batter on the chicken was almost seasoning-less, but nothing hot sauce and ketchup couldn't repair. 4.5/5 stars. Next was the fried chicken combo, which I ordered with their breast and wing, mac and cheese, the house salad, and ranch. The fried chicken breast was thin & tasty, but the mac and cheese was very creamy and cheesy, yet lacked flavor until I added hot sauce. The house salad was very good. I ordered it with no onions. Sidenote (since I am a weird salad eater, I looked at every bite scared I would be eating a snail. No more salad for me, I have a phobia I think). Moving on, last and not least were the two cakes we ordered. One was a strawberry crunch cake, the other was a cherry cheesecake that I do not know the name of. The strawberry crunch cake was absolutely very good but super sweet. 4/5 stars. The cherry cheesecake item was the best dessert I had eaten outside of the house in a long time. 4.7/5 stars. Overall, great visit this time, even after I swore I would not come back here and order more than one item. Thanks to Christina, I will be back. Hola from the 661! Stopped by Honey I'm Home around 3 PM for breakfast--wow. The food was seriously delicious! Our waitress recommended the chicken fried steak, and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. I even downsized the portion, and it was still huge! My buddy ordered the eggs with biscuits and gravy and couldn't stop talking about how it was one of the best he's had in California. Honey I'm Home is an east side gem. It's inside an older breakfast joint and they've been here for a few years now. I believe they're still getting their design down, while trying to hold down the fort. You'll be greeted by one of the waitresses and on a weekend you might have to wait just a bit but it's worth the wait. They have some great specialty items and some good signature items too. Service is on point and their coffee is brought in by Covenant Coffee, a local coffee maker. I believe for their different breakfast and or lunch selections you get what you pay for and there's no way you'll leave hungry, if so that's totally on you. My usual is the bacon and eggs, where they have a thick cut peppered bacon. Eggs seem to always done just right. More pictures to follow because I know we will be here in the future. I would love to return here and try their breakfast! I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and left wishing I had ordered breakfast instead. Given their wide menu options, I regret not indulging. I ordered a warm veggie lunch sandwich and although tasty, well assembled, and made to order (I added fried jalapeños), I felt it was over buttered and heavy. I didn't realize that warm meant everything inside and outside of the sandwich would be fried in butter. Tasty for sure, but greasy and heavy on the stomach. It felt like a bit of a trek to get out here but is a nice option for the east side of town. The restaurant is a huge space and the menu is very large, I feel like you could find something for everyone. The service was great, our waitress was wonderful, very attentive and got our big group everything they wanted. The service was 5 stars! Dessert was very good but the other food was decent just nothing that i feel like I have to come back for another go. It was pretty much the sentiment across our group. This is our third time coming here and this place has been consistently amazing. This was money well spent. Our waitress was so welcoming, and very good at her job. She was attentive and kind. We came back to try more dishes, and got a cheeseburger and meatloaf, which was a new menu item. Everything was so delicious, if you like in n out burger this one is on par in terms of taste and quality. The meat loaf was great! The Mac and cheese tastes homemade and was really delicious. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding and that was SO good! It was sweet and reminded me of a cinnamon roll. I can't wait to try more menu items. read more

Phenomenal service. A little slow but you don't go here for a quickie. You go here to enjoy the atmosphere (great song selections) and the company of family or friends. On this morning I ordered their Hit Lit Chile Verde Omelette accompanied by country potatoes and thick sourdough toast. Chile verde was perfect. What I noticed first was the generous amount of verde sauce. Potatoes were red mixed with bell peppers and onions. Very good. My wife had the French Toast Combo and it was also very good. The food was delicious and the staff couldn't be more helpful. They were a delight. Our waitress answered every question and went out of her way to make this and enjoyable meal. I had been waiting for over 6 months to try this restaurant as I live in Sacramento and they are in Bakersfield. I was worth the wait. The only issue I had was, they had too much pepper in their gravy. A lot of people enjoy that, but I am not one of them. That didn't to take away from the meal. I just took off the gravy and finished that HUGE chicken fried steak. Then to top the meal off, I had one of the most enjoyable pieces of Carrot cake that I gave ever had. This place is great and very busy for a Wednesday morning. We got the chicken fried steak, which was huge and very tasty, the country potatoes that were very flavorful, and the biscuits and gravy with rich flavor and soft bread. I also got the waffles and eggs. You can definitely taste the quality of the food. My only suggestion would be to invest in better seating or add some padding to the existing booths haha it might still be Cindy's original seating. read more

We decided to come here for a family breakfast this morning. Our food was delicious with more than generous portions. The kids ate their breakfasts, but the hubs and I have plenty of leftovers for each of us to have breakfast tomorrow, too! Our server was sweet and attentive. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy even though it was fairly busy. Our second time dining here. We had gone to the Planetarium at Bakersfield College to see the Meso America art exhibit (which was fabulously invigorating). We were a party of seven. We were greeted warmly. Initially, we were served by the all-business older gentleman (we had him last time) but then we were switched over to Christina J. Came after work and ordered the Prime rib dip sandwich and sweet potato fries which was a special for the day and an open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce. The prime rib sandwich was delectable and the dip was so flavorful. My only problem with the sandwich was that I only ordered one and was kicking myself for not ordering another one for the next day. It's hard to believe how loud it is in this place. It's way overpriced for what you get. 24th St Cafe is way better at this price range. Omelettes are small and are $18 and if you want cheese it's extra on omelettes. So odd. Then they raised their prices on one single pancake in 1 year from 3.99 to 4.99 and now to 5.99 seriously?!?! Really sad I'm no longer living down the street, hands down the best bacon & crispiest hashbrowns. I've tried so many things here unfortunately didn't get pictures everytime I came but just know the bacon cheeseburgers & their sandwiches are some of my favorites! their fried catfish is also pretty good! My go to breakfast is always the sausage patty with over easy eggs with hashbrowns & sourdough toast, so good! Service is always good even when it's busy, only a few times we had to wait a while to get our check but they were understandably busy. This was our 2nd time here and on this visit and it wasn't that impressive this time. I ordered the Hot Turkey sandwich and it was cold. It lacked flavor but the fries were good. They don't give you a lot but just enough. My husband got the club sandwich and he enjoyed his. Right amount of portions. I think next time I will order what I wanted to order which was the patty melt. It was busy at the time of our visit and the waitress said they had a death so they were grieving which we understood because we had asked for a condiment and she never came with it and we had to ask someone else. I have heard quite a bit about this place on local Facebook group. It is located on the heart of East Bakersfield, looks like a classic American diner. The interior was nicely upgraded, a beautiful bar, lots of shinny chrome. The waiter was super sweet and friendly, chatting up all the customers. The owner came and greeted me. Very much a throw back family environment. The bread basket is very California, baked bread with choice of butter or salsa, both version were good. We went to brunch on Sunday. The place was pretty busy and people waiting for tables. I walked up to the hostess, an older lady as she was arranging her list of folks waiting for tables. She just ignored me from for a minute or two. I asked for a table for two. I then realized there were two vacant bar stools at the counter, so I notified her I'd take the seats. She said ok. Then a couple walked in and she offered a small table which she accepted. We are sitting on the bar stools by now. She proceeds to give them a menu and cutlery and asked them for their drinks. By now we had been sitting for about 10 minutes, with servers passing behind the counter without any type of acknowledgement. We asked the hostess nicely for menus. She snapped back with a frown "I'll be with you." This attitude is unacceptable. Generally the service is good, and we've been going there quite recently. The diner business is too competitive for this type of service. We went to Spencer's which is a few blocks away. There is also the Wake Up Cafe which was pretty busy. WOW !!! We've heard about this place and just never made it over until this evening and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and attentive. The food is flavorful, and exudes a feeling of comfort. The half order chicken fried steak is enough for two or three people. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and I finally got a chance to go on Sunday, 12/22. I was super excited to try it because all the pictures on Yelp and other social media look like the food is delicious. So three of us went to the restaurant and we ordered the smoked barbecue beef ribs, tri-tip fries, chili size, and French dip sandwich. The only thing that was OK was the chili size. The tri-tip on the fries was very dry and overcooked. It's almost like they re-sautéed it as opposed to using fresh tri-tip. The beef dip sandwich was very rubbery. And the smoked barbecue ribs did not fall off the bone, like it said on the menu... They were rubbery and chewy and also tasted like they were reheated. I was really disappointed. I also paid two dollars extra to have the side dish of my dinner upgraded to onion rings. Their onion rings are made with red onion, and it was a very thin slice of onion that was almost disintegrated in a very puffy dough. I did enjoy the basket of Pyrenees bread and butter. The bread was toasted and delicious. The manager took off the barbecue smoked ribs so that was nice of them however, maybe this place is good for breakfast only. The restaurant itself is very cute, it is fairly new so everything is in great condition and very clean. The staff is very friendly and professional.
