We've come here as a family every year for, I think, the past 3 or 4 years now. I think there's been a general decline in the quality of the puzzles, where the overwhelming majority of the "puzzles" now are just combo locks. Our escape room was two rooms (as far as I know). First room was a combo lock and keypad, which was straight-forward enough. Next room we walked into we faced a traditional logic grid puzzle (my least favorite), covered by plexiglass, and given a dry erase marker to use. But of course the marker doesn't work. Neither did the second marker. Neither did the third... After opening a few drawers in the room, we faced no less than six padlock combinations to solve, with numbers everywhere in the room and no clear indication as to what to solve first or which numbers may go with which combo. It was just a stew of combination locks. No logical association or flow, and none if it, that I could tell, really had anything to do with the "story". It was just "found some numbers. Is it this one? Nope. This one? Nope. This one..." Some of the combination puzzles were clever, but most required odd, obtuse logical leaps or were obfuscated by poor wording. Workers were decent enough, I suppose. I guess our expectations were for something beyond a combo lock practice kit. When I compare this experience to something like Boda Borg, which charges the same amount for 2 hours of puzzle rooms (or slightly more for 4 hours), the value discrepancy becomes apparent. In truth, I think our money would have been better spent had we gone out for a movie and some beers. read more

This was my first experience in an "escape room". It was actually a lot of fun however, our friend's child who was 10 seemed a bit overwhelmed and bored at times. The Baker room is definitely not for kids. The staff were welcoming and appreciative that we chose their location to spend an hour of our day. They were very clear with rules and expectations. At times it felt a little over explained, but I am sure there are many parties that visit that really do require that level of explanation. When we entered the room, we were all immediately struck by the "smell" not sure what it was, but it definitely stuck with me for the rest of the day night. I am guessing it was from the items that were used as part of the fun. A lot of the stuff looked like antique items. The music that played while we were in the room, was a little irritating, but I'm sure some people like it. When I am problem solving I usually work in quiet. The attendant that was overseeing the room was kind and supportive as I am sure she watched us struggle. She put up messages on the screen letting us know if we were getting close. She was quick to respond when we requested for help. We didn't solve the problem, but it was fun and a good first experience of this type of entertainment. If you are in the area and want entertainment other than the movie theater next door, this is a fun place, but bring your problem solving skills!! read more

I called ahead to set up a specific room. I made the appointment verbally in the phone with the owner. We get there and she had signed us up for the wrong room and wouldn't admit that she was wrong. We were looking forward to this so much and pretty lame. The only thing I know is they could have treated this situation better. read more

Great first time escape room experience. The staff members there were extremely friendly, seemed experienced and knowledgeable. The rules were straightforward, and acceptable. The room was well made, and had great detail. We chose the "Oversight in the Underworld; although we did not solve the room we had a great time. The ability to get clues when we asked for some help was great. The only slight annoyance was that the room was very warm and there was a fan only in one section. We did the Alice in wonderland room. The decor was very psychedelic and well done. There were some very unique puzzles. some we had never tried before and presented new challenges. There is exciting features to explore. There are lots of different locks, including directional, codes and key. We would have made it out, if it wasn't for the completely frustrating last puzzle. Even after shown how to do it, I still could not figure out the numbers for the puzzle. The owner was friendly and eager to tell us all about how she got started and he next project in the works. Upset with our experience today. We've been coming here at least once a year for vacation for the better part of a decade and it has been average. Today, however, a person with blue hair led our group and they did not seem to care at all about giving us instructions or explaining the story of the room. The room was not set up correctly (a part was supposed to be sticking out from a wall fixture and it wasn't) and we could not solve anything for the remaining 20 minutes. The person at the front desk didn't seem to care when we mentioned this. The person in charge of our room also did not explain what we missed at the end or how our other clues came into play. It was my girlfriend, her friend, my buddy, and myself. We were bored after a freak snow storm and we're looking for something fun to do in the North Conway area. We decided to try something new to all of us, and that was Mystery NH. We decided to try out the Hurricane Room. Our "Game Master" was Steven and he was great. It's rare to find a business nowadays where the staff is very upbeat and they seem to enjoy their job. If I had to sum up our experience in one word, it would be FUN! We had a blast. Even though we unfortunately didn't "escape", it was great. There were so many surprises and "who would've thought?" moments. How could anyone cross the Kanc and not come to Mystery NH?? The staff is amazing and the rooms available were the best and most elaborate we've seen yet. This was the 6th and 7th time we've done escape-style rooms so we were prepared for what was in store. These two were quite challenging compared to the ones we've done in the Boston area but way more entertaining! If you're new to Escape Rooms I would suggest asking your Game Master which they'd recommend, since one may be easier than the others to solve. My boyfriend and I have been to a handful of escape rooms in the New England area. This one was the most intricate room we have ever experienced! The decor was outstanding and every clue was extremely thought out. We may have not escaped in time, but it was a great challenge! If we are in the area, we would definitely visit again! read more

We went to Mystery NH escape rooms and were sorely disappointed. We have been to many rooms in the New England area. The room we chose was "the saloon" sadly we wasted over 15min because a very necessary prop was missing which included instructions on how to perform the next step. We understand mistakes. However, when we spoke to the owner about it she took no responsibility for it. She claimed the missing piece from the room was not a "critical" piece of information. This was dishonest and bad for business. We had planned to return with friends of ours because we always do all the rooms at the escape rooms we go to. We drove an hour and half just to be disappointed by negligence and blame shifting. *I would encourage the business owner to "compensate ppl when you or your employees make such mistakes"* read more

Had so much fun, we didn't escape but still had a blast. Amy was super friendly and helpful, tried to make us feel better that we didn't get out ha ha! The room was on the small side but not horrible, 6 of us fit fine, I just wish there was a place to keep bags/purses/coats because that took up some space. We did the blue plate special room and it was more challenging than rooms I've done in the past, but very clever. I enjoyed the challenge but wish the time slot was for 90 minutes instead of 60. 5 well deserved stars! We LOVE escape rooms, and are a little picky on where we play. We stumbled across this little gem on our way to a movie and after seeing some pretty great reviews, decided to give it a try! We played a Reel prize(cinema themed) and had a BLAST, so much fun in fact we came back an hour later and played High noon at the saloon also a blast. The rooms are extremely detailed and well organized. The staff and owner were awesome to chat with and be around. Definitely check them out, they did not disappoint!! read more

My daughters (ages 19, 16, and 15) and I have done six different escape rooms at Mystery NH over the past several years, and we've always had a lot of fun. The rooms are filled with interesting and clever clues and contraptions, and are difficult-enough to keep us guessing right up until the end, but not so impossible that we become frustrated. The game master (the person responsible for monitoring our progress and giving clues, when needed) is right on top of things. As best as I can recall, we solved two rooms with minimal help, we solved two rooms with ample help (ie. clues), and we failed to solve two rooms within the allotted time. I recommend this location to anyone who enjoys escape rooms. read more

The best hook was how sincere and accommodating the owners are. We hit ridiculous county fair traffic on the way there from maine and were 2 hours late. We contacted them along the way and they made the necessary adjustments to get us in at later time slots. Not only that, but they were incredibly friendly and gracious when we did arrive. These are people who deserve to succeed. Also, the escape rooms we tried were fun. The themes felt right and their difficulty assessments were accurate. Zero stars. Manager is on a power trip. Came in and inquired about booking and was told we can walk in or book online but they were full for the day. We came back two days after booking online with our same group and were told we could not bring a child inside because we did not call ahead. We asked what would have happened if we were a walk in and they had no answer. We asked to speak to a manager and the kid with the pony tail identified himself as a manager and was the same person we had spoken to two days earlier and knew we had a child with us. We asked why she can't come in and he said because she will pull on our arms and ruin our experience we said that would not be an issue. A female staff came out and we tried explaining to her that we had been here two days earlier talking to the same manager and she said we absolutely can't come in because we didn't call ahead and have a conversation. Asked her to have a conversation in person because we are here and she refused, said we weren't working with her and need to leave. Asked for our money back and they refused! read more

Just completed the Reel Prize room. We got out with 20+ minutes to spare. We were asked if we wanted hints and said no but our game master W kept telling us how to easily solve the clues. Parts of the room were so small that some in the group just sat doing nothing while others worked on a puzzle. We've done many rooms elsewhere and this room was not worth the money. As an Escape Room owner, I love doing escape games, and I look at every aspect of the rooms I visit, Mystery NH is definitely one of the good ones. My group did Enigma and we talked about it the entire drive home. What I liked best was the uniqueness of the puzzles and the overall atmosphere. I went to the Reel Prize room yesterday and I was not pleased with my experience. As an experienced escape room player, I like to challenge myself. Our game master repeatedly gave us clues when we didn't ask for them and while we were still working on things. He didn't allow us the time to solve things for ourselves. A lot of the puzzles were simple and easy and some of them were way too obvious. Some clues gave us the number for a code instead of having to solve anything. We got out with twenty minutes to spare but felt as though we didn't get our money's worth. Will not be back. read more

This room is really not for young kids. I specifically told the representative that we had a 6,7, & 8 year old. We also had two 10 year olds and adults, yet they charged us $225 for the group. This was a big disappointment, not because of the puzzles but because the company should not have charged us for the little kids. It is really for mature 10+ year olds. They should have been more honest. I would have let the little ones come in while explaining that the puzzles were not intended for them. They are quite smart little kids, but they got nothing out of the experience other resilience. Honestly, we could have done that on a hiking trip. read more

MUST READ. worst service ever. Me and my girl went in this location at 5:15pm. Met a guy in the front and he said "we have a opening for a mystery room at 5:30pm. 15 mins so ok, it was just me and my girl and we told him we would like to do a mystery room by our selves. There was no one there and he said we should be good. At 5:30 a couple with 3 kids came in and he wanted to put then in with us. Which I told him earlier we wanted to do it by our selves. So that didn't work. So after paying $50 and was told we should be ok to do the room alone now we had 3 little kids and 2 other adults with us. Its was fine let them go and we will just not do it. So I told the guy it was ok we will just want a refund. Now he tells me there are NO REFUNDS. What? This place just took my $50 in 15 mins and was not promised what he told us about doing a room alone. He said we have the no refunds its stats that in our website AND a small printed sticker on the side of the wall which u won't notice but he pointed it out later. I didn't check the website I walked in ur business. Why was I not told about no refunds when I swiped my card. He said he don't tell people about no refunds because customers don't sign up. That's a shady way to run a business and not being truthful to ur customers. He said send a email and see if u can get a refund. WHAT?. we argued about him not telling me about the refund policy for 10 mins. Ok I left and send an email. Beth the owner replied back and said we don't refund even tho I was there for 15 mins and was told me and my girl could do a room by our selves. And ended up not doing anything. SO NOW THEY GET TO KEEP MY $50. AND I DIDN'T GET TO DO ANY ACTIVITIES THERE. what a scam. Are they really that broke to keep someone's money. She said we can come back and can do a mystery room. What a FUN and EXCITING time we had in the Hurricane room!! My 10 year old daughter, her friend and I, a 45+ yr old Mom, had an absolute BLAST!! The room and props with background ocean effects makes one really become emerged in the survival setting of getting the power working before the next hurricane arrives!! The clues to help along the way made ongoing fun continue throughout the whole experience, especially for those of us that over-think situations. While the room clues and puzzles are not EASY, they are also NOT HARD ... a FANTASTIC TIME and we will be sure to return to try another mystery room!!
