This was my 2nd excursion with Mystery Trip, and Mysterious Dave does not disappoint. You really do learn a lot about the community you travel to, and the activities are fun, engaging, and not at all overwhelming. In my two excursions, I learned to play Pickleball and Lawn Bowling. I also cooked a Mediterranean lunch with my team as well as a Scavenger Hunt in Descanso Gardens. Dave is funny, and very easy going. We booked an all-day corporate offsite with Dave and Mystery Trip, and throughout the planning process, Dave was wonderful and made the day itself so stress-free! Dave organized a fantastic 5-plus hour team outing for us. A bus arrived and picked up 14 of us. The team was split into three groups. Our first activity was beach olympics, followed by a photographic treasure hunt, and finally, teams played trivia at the brewery. It was a lot of fun, and you really got to know your teammates. He  also provided us with water, happy hour beverages, and snacks. Dave also took photos for us and even gave out gifts and prizes to our team members! Truthfully I was skeptical about this experience before I decided to commit to it. Why can't my team know what we're doing? What if they pick something that's not fun? Will it be worth the value? These were all questions going through my head. Dave absolutely blew my concerns out of the water and provided not only a fun and safe experience, but something my team will remember together forever. Mystery Dave was extremely easy to work with, both leading up to the event in terms of communication etc, as well as was an EXCELLENT guide for our group during the actual activities. We started with some icebreakers on the bus, followed by a photographic scavenger hunt which prompted healthy competition between our team, then we went to an AWESOME little bar/restaurant for drinks and food, and ended off at a haunted escape room which although was terrifying, really got our team to (trauma) bond together. It's something we'll be talking about for a very long time together. I planned a birthday party for my wife's 40th birthday and I wanted it to be amazing. Dave and Kendra did a great job. Despite our best efforts to screw it up by getting a late start, Kendra pulled us all together and set the wheels in motion for a great day. Everyone and everything was amazing. I was instantly intrigued by Mystery Trip when my co-worker, Taylor G., suggested it as an option. Mysterious Dave got back to me immediately after I inquired through his website and we had a chat discussing what my needs would be, which was a holiday team outing for a group of 16 people in Orange County. I chose a 4 hour trip (the minimum time) and went through 1 revision to the itinerary so our outing consisted of 2 events and a dinner. My co-host and I were fully aware of the locations but the rest of our team was not so it was fun hearing their reactions and guesses on what we would be doing. In addition to transporting us from location to location, Mysterious Dave organized mini games on the bus to help us get to know each other as well as trading random gifts. I have taken 2 Mystery Trips one for a 40th birthday party and another for a team bonding event. Both trips were AMAZING! I was a bit confused about what would happen when I was told that my team was going on a Mystery Trip after all...it's a mystery. However, what followed was one of the very best days I had with my work family ever. We ended up in some really cool places that I never would have had the wherewithal to find myself, and everyone really bonded over not knowing where we were going! LA is full of amazing gems in terms of things to do and see, but there are so many of them that you can't hope to hear of a 1/4 of them let alone visit them. I first learned of Mystery Trip through a Google search for ideas for my wife's 40th birthday party. She didn't want to plan a whole dinner party thing since it was supposed to be FOR HER, and frankly I am no good at things like that, so I needed help...desperately. After reading some local newspaper and magazine articles about the company, including the reviews on Yelp, I contacted Mysterious Dave only to learn that the day I wanted to have a private trip was already scheduled for a public trip. After talking to him about it, he assured me that even though it wouldn't be just us, we would still have fun - just in a larger group setting with a bunch of people we didn't know...yet. So I signed up my wife and I along with six other couples. There were some scheduling issues and Dave was in constant contact with me before the event. He could not have been more upfront about everything along the way. There were also some scheduling issues with one of the couples that I had invited, and he was very accommodating. He knew I was on the hook for providing my wife with a memorable evening and boy did he come through. I heard from a couple of people I had invited that initially they were skeptical and not sure they would be into this type of thing - not knowing what we were doing or where we were going? I must be out of my mind to trust a stranger with a night like this. Didn't I want it to be all about my wife? Almost immediately they changed their tune. The first activity got everybody into the spirit of the Trip. By dinner, they were telling me how much fun they were having and this was such an awesome idea to do for my wife's party. The activities, food, BYOB on the bus, everything was incredible. Dave was fantastic. He had everything timed down perfectly. He knew exactly when to get the group on the bus so that we made it to the next place at the exact right time. Did I mention there was another Mysterious Person? Kendra was there to help "herd the cats" and she took photos. She was incredibly well-liked and joined in the fun with us. She was awesome. Dave told us that night that this was the largest public trip he had ever put together, and it didn't matter that there were people we didn't "know." Everyone was friendly and got along. We were sharing snacks on the bus, and sharing stories of the things we had seen throughout the night. The final activity for the night ended near where we started. Looking back, there is no way I would have ever planned to do what we did at the end if I was in charge of planning my wife's party. And yet, it was so ridiculously awesome everyone was having a great time. I can't remember the last time I laughed and enjoyed a night out with my friends as much as we did this night. Mystery Trip is THE BEST TIME. My review is coming a little late but I bought a mini-mystery trip for my boyfriend and myself as a Christmas gift to him. I think overall the company could work on communication. Our mystery trip started with a text message that informed us to park in a specific lot in Los Angeles. It turned out to be a parking lot in Little Tokyo that cost money to park in. Luckily, I had cash with me, but I wish they had told me I would be paying for parking ahead of time. Then we had a little scavenger hunt around Little Tokyo that was conducted through an app that I had to download. The scavenger hunt required the app to download pictures to solve each clue. However, the cell service was really bad in Little Tokyo so some of the pictures wouldn't download, but my boyfriend and I made the best of it. Next we had lunch reservations in a restaurant in the area which we really enjoyed. Our last activity was karaoke at a karaoke bar. This is where I became a little frustrated because not only had I already paid for parking and lunch. I was now going to have to pay for a karaoke session. I had paid $90 for the mini-mystery trip and I guess I was a little puzzled on what the $90 was for if it didn't cover parking, food or any activity. Although I appreciate that this company works on planning a trip for you, I wish they could disclose that you would be spending more money outside of what you already paid for. So because I would have to pay for a karaoke session, my boyfriend and I decided to just skip the last activity all together to save money. read more

I needed to plan a company team building event at the last minute for 17 people with an age ranging from 21 Years old to 63 years old. Needless to say I was stressed. This is a review for Dave organizing a trip for us in the SF Bay Area. He took us out for 6 hours and made sure our group had a great time. Different than any offsite than we've done before, Dave took us to multiple locations and kept things interesting with a variety of activities.
