Looking at the website, I was immediately drawn to Jinx as a queer person looking to get a nerdy tattoo, and I'm so glad I decided to go with them! The shop itself is very clean and bright with relaxing house music playing. If you're nervous about going to a typical tattoo parlor, definitely consider coming here! Jinx was lovely the whole way through and really took the time to make sure I felt comfortable and knew what was going on every step of the way. I never once felt uncomfortable or unsure in the process, and that was really reassuring as a tattoo newbie. After researching artists both locally and on the West Coast, I flew out from Oregon specifically to book a day session with Oz while visiting my husband in Atlanta and it was worth every mile. Oz took our initial concept and elevated it into a true work of art. Not only is he a brilliant artist, but he's also a total professional and a fantastic communicator. He has an incredibly light hand, which made the long session much more comfortable than I expected. He checked in on us constantly, kept us laughing all day, and was even flexible enough to squeeze in a tiny, last-minute dinosaur! The talent throughout the entire shop is clearly top-tier, and the high-end atmosphere makes the experience even better. This is by far the best tattoo I've ever received. As a result, it fell out dramatically within days and now needs to be lasered off because it looks absolutely horrible. She is new and fresh to tattooing and I couldn't be happier with the piece she designed from some ideas I had. She does fantastic nature elements and is very talented. My brother, Jeremy, and I went to this tattoo shop with low expectations, but we were taken back by the cordial service and family like atmosphere. Ok... so I have to clarify before writing this review. This review is not a reflection of the skill or creative ability of the artists, this is purely an operations based review. I am a former client of Carlos Fuentes at Mystic Owl. Carlos is a great artist - my issue is not with him, it is with the gal at the front desk and the "company policy" she saw fit to enforce. I believe her name is "Sam" or something, I am not sure. I had been a customer of Carlos's for over two years and spend almost $10,000.00 with him through a sleeve and some individual pieces. Things were great until one week I had an issue that required me to reschedule an appointment. Mind you, this was the FIRST TIME I had ever had to make any changes to any of my appointments in a two year span. When I called in to make this change with the gal at the front, she was very rude and unbecoming of someone who is supposedly in a customer facing, customer service based role. She told me that I would need to reach out to the artist (I.e. Carlos) to reschedule so last minute as she didn't have his schedule available and he was not in that day... (this was approx 4 days prior to my next appointment) Okay, fine I will reach out to the artist. I sent Carlos an email with no reply. I don't hold this against Carlos, I am sure he gets quite a few emails each day, and as I know from my line of work, it is easy for an email to get "lost in the shuffle". So I called back the day before my appointment to again reach out and try to get a re-schedule (again, first time I have ever done this to them). This is where the true issue lies: I again spoke with the same front desk girl who pretended to have no memory of our prior conversation from just days earlier... and not only that, she further told me that per company policy they would be taking my $350.00 deposit if I didn't show up... what!? How the hell so you get to take my deposit if I called in four days in advance to to and reschedule? Carlos is a fantastic artist with a long waiting line to get into for work, so it wouldn't take more than a few minutes to call through his client list and get a fill in I imagine... all of that being said this is still 24 hours in advance... and the first incident of me needing a solid from my tattoo shop... that I've dropped stacks with and been nothing but good to for two years... So I have to give this place one star for bad customer service practices/ company policy and the world's SHITTIEST front desk person. YOU CAN DO BETTER MYSTIC OWL. You've lost my business because of this and I imagine I will not be the only one if you continue to allow a complete troll to run your front of house! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place or my artist, Johnny Parker. As a RN, during this time especially, I'm constantly aware of hygiene and health conditions. Walking through the door you could tell Mystic Owl has taken every precaution to keep themselves and their clients safe. From hand hygiene to mask wearing, it was all covered. The shop was immaculate. Next, I have to rave about Johnny Parker. I waited 2 months after my Zoom consultation to start my forearm sleeve. It was worth the wait and every penny spent. He took my vision, I gave him artistic freedom, and it came out perfectly. His level of talent and skill will be hard to match. This place is great! From the moment I spoke to them on the phone to leaving the shop. Taylor was great! Great personality and helped me create a great tattoo. Mine is small and simple so there wasn't much to it but Taylor acted the same as if I was getting a giant masterpiece. She spoke to me the whole way through. Before, process, during, after care, etc. Instruments are sterile and shop is nice, organized, and super clean! She even gave me her personal info in case I have any questions! Even though I was only there for a short amount of time, and my tattoo was small, sweet and simple they were fantastic! Where to begin? I contacted Vince about a memorial piece back in January - less than a month after my Grandmother passed away when emotions were still high and raw. We communicated through his website working out initial design ideas. I never had to wait more than 12 hours for a response from him or someone on his team. We finally were able to coordinate our schedules for early September. Upon walking into the shop for the first time I was immediately impressed by how clean it was. I have seriously NEVER walked into a cleaner tattoo shop than this one. It sparkles. There wasn't a streak of dirt to be found, no cobwebs, no nastiness on the baseboards. . Everyone was incredibly friendly which was also unusual for a shop like this. Many other shops can feel intimidating to walk into - not Mystic Owl. I was greeted warmly by Tara and the other artists as well. They immediately made me feel comfortable and what little nerves I was feeling dissolved away into nothing but excitement. Vince came out and showed me his sketch and I was blown away. It was bigger than I was planning on getting, but after looking at the sketch itself I realized that through our conversations Vince had really understood the concept of what I was going for with this piece - how much it means to me as a memorial piece and he had gone above and beyond what I was expecting. I was stoked and ready to go. I knew going in that this was going to be my biggest piece thus far. I guess it can be considered almost a half sleeve since it extends from my back and behind my arm, over the cap of my shoulder and down almost to my elbow. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sit long enough but Vince was incredibly gentle, made sure that I was comfortable and didn't work in one spot for so long that it became unbearable. I'm thrilled to death with this piece, with the way I was treated at Mystic Owl and the entire experience. I can't wait to go back to get started on color! read more

I came in February to get my nose pierced because my boyfriend offered to pay for it as a birthday gift. It was my choice of where to go and I decided to go to Mystic Owl because I originally recorded the shop for my best friend to get her tattoo (which was badass btw, we both loved what Taylor did!). I figured that since they did such a marvelous job with my friends tattoo that they would do just as well with my nose piercing! It was my mistake for thinking this place would do as well. First off I did a ton of research on the shop and the staff (at the time they only showed one piercer) I was under the assumption that she would be doing it with her large portfolio and experience.. WRONG! We walked in on a Sunday (without an appointment) to meet this young black woman at the front desk (can't remember her name).The shop was very clean, and she was a very nice girl, not rude at all however, her appearance looked like she just rolled out of bed and came to work ( which was a stark contrast from my last experience there). She asked what we were looking for and we told her, She then proceeded to get up and check if they had any jewelry left to do any. She managed to scrape up a couple but there really was no choices which was a turn off. Next she took us into one of the piercing rooms and went about the process (washing hands, taking out sterile needles etc.). At this point I just assumed that she was a new hire that knew what she was doing considering the reputation of the shop. She didn't even give any after care instructions ( and whatever she did say when I asked was very vague). She did the piercing and took a picture and we went about our merry way. The real issues started after we left. First off, I am very confident that she used a gauge entirely too big for a nose piercing, Even the jewelry looked to be about an 16! Second I HATED the jewelry she used, she used a round top; it looked similar to a labret. I ended up having to go back to the shop to buy another (the dang top twisted off and fell down the drain while cleaning), and they didn't even have any jewelry period! I ended up having to go to Lucky Draw in marietta to buy a replacement. Next thing, I have a lot of piercings and I have never ever had any issues with any of them. This piercing is the most troublesome! It started acting up from the second week and It has been months since February and its still acting as though it hasn't healed. I actually had to take the nose ring out due to it starting to open up and absorb the jewelry... Honestly if this was my first body piercing i would think it was me. But considering i haven't gone to the same place twice, i can say that she messed me up. Lastly, After ALL the issues i was having I called the shop so many times for advice on what to do and it was literally the same answer, I even went as far as to call other shops (who gave me more detailed advice). Thinking back on it all, she had to be an apprentice.. I am so pissed that my birthday gift turned out to be nothing but a troublesome and painful experience up to now. Im even more upset that Im going to have to give up and try again on the other side at a DIFFERENT shop. The experience and bedside manner was there, but a piercing that would be done properly is what I came for. Please ladies and gentlemen their tattoos are amazing , but I can honestly say I wouldn't go back there for a piercing even if it was free. read more

I wanted to wait til the tattoo (my 5th) had fully healed before I wrote a review here, and now that it's been 3 months, I can officially dish out the 5 stars Mystic Owl deserves. Carlos did a watercolor thigh piece for me and it came out beautifully. I had an idea of what I wanted overall and brought a few reference photos in, but I gave him creative license with the details. I'm so glad I did. Carlos is talented and professional and it shows in his tattoos. The shop as a whole is clean and their customer service is excellent. I chose this shop because of their high rating and glowing Yelp reviews, and I'm happy to add my name to the list of very satisfied customers. To answer questions someone might have: - I don't know what shop minimum is, but as far as I'm aware the minimum hourly rate is $150 - You'll have to have a consultation for bigger pieces, and if you want to schedule the tattooing appointment you'll need to put down a deposit (for me it was 1 hour's worth) - Yes, they take credit cards - Yes there's a free parking lot - They take walk-ins but they're pretty busy so I would suggest calling ahead anyway I know it's a little pricey but it's so so worth it. read more

I bought my Fiance a gift certificate for christmas to get some microblading done by Tara. The process of actually receiving the $450 gift card was difficult to begin with. Then redeeming it seemed to be just as tricky. Tara the artist was impossible to schedule with missing several appointments due to poor "office communication". Finally the day arrives for my Fiance to get her eyebrows done. She informs Tara that she is pregnant (congrats right?, wrong), Tara then begins what can only be described as inner personal venting. Lashing out and literally cussing at my Fiance for nothing other than being pregnant and telling her about it. Truly the most unprofessional conversation I've heard from anyone. Who yells F bombs at a pregnant woman? She curtly ended any future sessions by saying she wants to be done with this and will give us our money back...then I guess she wasnt actually "done with it" and said she was keeping $300 for 2 missed appointments, which she made up out of thin air...finally after some more ranting she said she was keeping $150 for wasting her time and that she would stop being "nice" and keep $300 if we weren't careful. So, I wish I could review her skills and say glowing things about my gift but that was not the case. In the end I paid $150 to have my future wife belittled...0/5 stars... If you want a snobby elitist who acts like they are better than you, then you will love this place. Not only do I not recommend this place, there are several better around like all or nothing tattoo etc, but I had to go out of my way to write this review to warn others....I will come back and post an update if I dont receive the refund... read more

The parlor is professional, but fun, clean, but with personality, which I feel is a hard balance for a lot of tattoo parlors to strike. I loved my design as soon as TA started sketching. She was a caring, talented, and straight-forward individual, who wasn't pushy in the least when it came to booking.
