We were excited to try a new to us Greek restaurant in the area. This is a big restaurant with plenty of seating and would probably be great for large groups. We came early for dinner on Friday to the mostly empty restaurant and were disappointed to be seated closest to the kitchen entrance. It was a strange place to seat a group when other people dining were seated elsewhere in a different section. The food was okay, but we've had much better Greek food elsewhere. The mixed grill, which was a mix of different meats, was a standout. Otherwise, the Greek salad, dips and sides were average. Service was great and our server continued to check on us. My brother was looking to grab dinner and catch up, and whenever this happens, the biggest question is where to eat. He was feeling like Greek food, and suggested Mythos based off the positive experiences he's had here in the past. This sounded great, so off we went. Mythos is a pretty spacious restaurant - the dining room is very open with tables scattered throughout the space. The chairs are kinda big and I would argue that it was a little cumbersome navigating the tables but overall not too bad. The kitchen is semi-open with a display case separating it from the dining room that looks like it holds food to be prepared. Their menu is pretty extensive without being overwhelming - all of the Greek staples were there. We were started with their house-made bread that came with black-eyed peas and some hummus. This was delicious, so much that we ordered dips as an app to complement the bread more mmm. We also started with the halloumi and a slice of spanakopita. The halloumi had a somewhat unique preparation - I'm used to a single slab that's maybe complemented with a sauce that I would need to slice. Instead, these were pre-sliced and placed on top of pita complemented with tomato and cucumber. This was delicious, all the flavors and textures worked well together. The spanakopita was really tasty - it was a healthy slice that we were able to share and again, super flavorful. For my main, I went with the garides mikrolimano which were shrimp prepared in a red wine-ish sauce, some feta, and served over rice. This was delicious - the sauce had layers of flavor and served as a great vehicle to unite the shrimp and the rice. Service was fine - we were taken care of promptly and food came out at a good pace. It was a little impersonal but I kind of expected that - I wouldn't go into this restaurant thinking you'll be getting an experience when it comes to the service - just straight to the point. Overall though, I thought the food at Mythos was excellent and I had a great experience. I would hesitate to return for another meal. read more

Had a pleasant Sunday dinner last night! Such a warm welcome as we entered! We felt that it was a family owned place. Staff were all attentive. They all pitched in. Menu was in Greek with English description. We ordered appetizers and requested whole red snapper for two. Our energetic server asked kitchen and yes they had a 2lb whole fish. Wonderful. The stuffed grapeleaves came first. 6! So creamy and perfectly homemade. My chef husband loved them. Then grilled octopus came done perfectly. Fried saganaki cheese was ok. This restaurant is right across from Oasas and I see it every time we go to Oasas and I finally decided to grab my neighbors and give it a try. There's outdoor seating and quite a few tables but we opted for indoor seating. Inside it wasn't too busy when we first got there but it filled up quickly. We started with Hummus and bread and everyone enjoyed it. The grilled octopus is a must try, it was so good and fresh (it was gone too quickly before I got a picture). I opted for the pork chops and it was the best choice I've made in a bit. The pork chops were juicy despite being grilled. The portion was big enough for me to have lunch the next day. My nephew got the Chicken Souvlaki and appreciated that it didn't come on the stick because it was easy for him to eat. He's super picky but ate so quickly. Mythos is always a hit, fresh made food everyday and orders cooked to perfection. We started off with grilled octopus, grilled vegetables, Greek salad, spreads of kafteri and garlic mash, and fried gavro(Greek sardine). Then we had mix grilled of lamb chops, chicken breast, Greek hamburger and sausage, fried cod, a black sea bass grilled and butterflied to perfection, an order of grilled pork chops to die for and different vegetables, okra and cauliflower in tomato sauce, flat string beans, and lemon potatoes. This is a review based solely on the catered food we received for our work luncheon. We had the pleasure of enjoying delicious and fresh Greek food from Mythos courtesy of a sales rep. Since the food was catered he ordered the Doctor's Office Package. It's a complete Greek food package that includes Rice, Lemon Potatoes, Grilled Chicken Breasts, Fresh Grilled Salmon, Greek Salad, Pita Bread, Tzatziki, Dessert, and Soda. This meal was out of this world delicious. I especially enjoyed the freshness of the salmon and chargrilled smokiness of the chicken breasts. The lemon potatoes had the perfect balance of lemon, olive oil, and fresh herbs. The lemon did not overpower the potatoes which was awesome because I don't enjoy lemony food. The rice was a little on the bland side but once it was paired with the chicken, fish, and potatoes it tasted five times better. The sauce from the fish left my mouth watering and coming back for more. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to taste the salad but I heard great things about it. The salad looked really tasty and colorful. We had a lot of left over food from the luncheon which was great because who doesn't love delicious leftovers? Dining at Mythos is tantamount to enjoying a meal at a Greek restaurant in Greece. Mythos primarily uses old world recipes made with old world ingredients. Fish is always fresh and abundant. Octopus is what octopus should be. The wine list is a bit sparse as is the service at times. But what is lacking in attentiveness is made up in friendliness. But then again my last visit was on a Friday night prime time. On my most recent visit we enjoyed an order of lightly breaded and pan fried Barbounia (Red Mullets) that were excellent. We also had the grilled octopus, stewed cauliflower, side order of horta (traditional Greek greens) and the prasini salad (aka marouli salad - lettuce, dill, scallions, feta and dressing). The salad was mediocre but everything else was excellent. Mythos provides complimentary valet parking and can also be accessed by bus from the Main St (last stop) station of the number 7 subway and like-named station on the Long Island Rail Road, respectively. So there's no excuse, my fellow Manhattanites, to to explore what we typically deem as the nether regions of our great city. It is faster than traveling to a restaurant in Athens and the food is just as good. And you don't even need to take your shoes off or get molested at the airport. read more

The food is so far not too attractive but only one thing that impressed me was the fried cheese , is crispy enough and flavorful. So disappointed about the steak , which is over cooked. It's amazing for family dinner which they have very open space to fit people in. But the seating set up is very too close to next party.
