Tommy and Joe came to remove my waste line so a basement repair company could repair a collapsing wall. They removed all the piping in one day with only one weeks notice. The basement wall repair was completed the next day, and then the plumbing was completed on the third day. They also came to install a slop sink for my washer and a full home water filtration system with second faucet. All of this was completed in three days. Literally flawlessly and the guys were so accommodating, polite and helpful. I am so grateful that there are good workers still left in this world like Tommy and Joe because they made this repair so easy for me and my family I even had a loose/wobbly bathtub faucet in my upstairs bathroom that Tommy helped me out with free of charge. And when you subtract out the unlicensed, uninsured people from your list your choices are minimal. I wanted to replace our thermostat after a slight remodel. The old one was dingy and couldn't be salvaged. While we were at it we decided to add WiFi connectivity beacuse, well we don't really have a true need for that but since a thermostat was only a few dollars more i figured, why not. After examining the current thermostat and the wiring at the HVAC unit i was convinced the the job was beyond my skill level. Having seen Soundview shop every day on the way to the gym an knowing a couple of them work out in the same gym, I thought I'd give the local team a shot. They said they would send someone by to look at the job to give an estimate. The estimator cam by and looked and tinkered with the system for about 45 minutes. in the end he said my control panel wasn't compatible with new generation thermostats. This wasn't hard to believe, we know that the builder relied on a lot of "closeout specials" when building the house 20 years ago. He also mentioned that we may need a new damper. He stated he didn't have the control panel on the truck but he would go back to the office and have them contact me with a quote for the work. He gave me a ballpark but said they office would need to validate once the sourced the exact parts. I agreed and indicated I would wat for the quote even asking how long the job would take. I paid the service call fee on the spot and thanked the technician. Well it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for a callback with a quote (not really anymore). maybe I have a unique facial tick that coincidently tells people to "ignore this man. In the interceding time I've been able to call someone ese have the work done and get on with my life. So much for the local team...

Now , i work in retail and i fully understand between wholesale and retail , but to gouge 450% is disgusting! I won't be using Soundview any time soon as they showed their true colors right away on a new customer. I had the work done locally for 1/2 the cost.

When I asked for ballpark, they said sounds like your 15 your-old system is too old to fix (coolant is no longer being used, so hard to re-charge system, etc. etc.), so could be $12-15k to replace. That's when I cold-called Action Air, just based on favorable Yelp rating and long time (9+) years in business. The woman I spoke to said they'd be there LATER THAT SAME DAY (Fri) and would keep me posted when he was in the nabe. I got a text at 4 pm saying tech on his way. David showed up within minutes. He was courteous, knowledgeable, efficient ... and honest. Made a quick circuit of our equipment (compressor, air handler, thermostat), and promptly determined it was just a thermostat issue. He went out to his truck and replaced the thermostat, explaining how it worked and giving us the user's manual from the box it came in. While there, he checked our air filters and the compressor, took a couple readings at the compressor and told us everything looked great, and that we should just hose out the grill around the outdoor compressor fan, noting that it was located close to a dryer vent so needed extra attention. Bottom line: This is just what. you want and need in a repair company, particularly when you're talking about equipment you may know very little about so could be at the mercy of dishonest vendors. Can't recommend Action (and David) highly enough. Saved me possibly thousands of $$$.
