My stepmom and I just went out for lunch at Naantastic and had the best time!! We both ordered bowls (I got mine with double protein because I can't make choices) and a side of Naan and it was definitely the way to go. Everything was so delicious, and I even ordered their famous upside down beer - perfect pour, the rumors are true! But as good as the food and beer was, the most impressive thing about this place is the service. There was a guy named Mark who was working the Naan /rice station, and he initially greeted us, and it was clear we were in great hands. He could tell I was a first time guest and gave me a very thorough tour of all the offerings, all while smiling and making us feel super welcome. He literally pointed me out to the rest of the staff to get them excited about having a first time guest, and everyone else was sweet and inviting as well! It's rare that service is so good it's a highlight of my day, but that was the case with Mark and the rest of the Naantastic team. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more

For people expecting an indian food experience this is not the place. This is a indo-fusion restaurant where you could customize your food according to chipotle style patterns of toppings and others. It is basically an Indian Chipotle. I went there twice. The first time was for lunch and I had a bowl with the naan, rice, chicken masala, voodoo hot sauce, a bunch of add-ons. I liked the hot sauce that goes well with yogurt. The second time I went in around 3:30 pm after a long drive. I got almost the same stuff except a milder sauce that has Karma in its name. This time, the rice tasted either undercooked, or dry because it was not freshly cooked for the day. That's why I only gave 3 stars. I wish they offer one free naan per one person during weekday lunch time. It probably will attract more people. read more

The Collage Bowl is too legit to quit! An amazing mix of flavours and textures. This one takes the wheel for me. Layered in a bed of fries, your choice of protein, "Dad's sweet makhani", shredded paneer, golden raisins, cranberries, punjabi mac (mind blown), corn, cukes, tomatoes, red onion and sweet tamarind. I was very surprised that I enjoyed the white raisins so much. Beign no stranger to dried fruits, I particularly do NOT enjoy raisins of any sort. Not even in carrot cake. Your food items are fresh and you pick from a delight assortment of items to add to your bowl, wrap or Nann taco. The Mango lassi was a delicious yogurt drink. I'm so sad. I'm just so sad. I feel like going to the corner and sobbing over a bottle of wine. My hype for Naan-Tastic was so high and I was so supportive for the weeks leading to its grand opening, but now having had even just a single dinner there, I know I won't be back. I'm sorry Naan-Tastic, this time it is you, not me. To give them credit where it's due, I have to call out the positives. The staff was ample. The space looks fresh and new. The concept is novel and innovative. I got through the line in no time at all. The toppings were plentiful. The ideas are smart and perfect for college students right down the street. And arguably the best part is that their chicken was cooked correctly and tender, the curries weren't overly reduced or overly saucy, and the rice was cooked perfectly as well. Hearing that, most people would probably say, "why Andrew, that sounds great! Look at all those amazing things you just said, how could it have possibly been a bad experience?" Well... I guess it comes down to the fact that nothing tasted Indian despite being an Indian restaurant. Nothing was spiced outside of the vindaloo sauce that only tasted of chile and coriander. Nothing was seasoned. If you blindfolded me and told me I was having the equivalent Mexican version of this food, this "Indian" food was so bland I could've been fooled. The garlic naan tasted like plain Lebanese pita and lacked actual fresh garlic or the crispiness, flakiness, and chewiness of classic naan bread. This food was and is not Indian. It adds nothing to the cuisine and in fact weakens it, confusing a larger populace of what Indian food actually should be. And somehow this is all completely crazy to me especially when the owners own a successful and mightily delicious standard Indian restaurant not far from here as well. In different hands, with actual use of salt, pepper, and Indian herbs and spices instead of dumbed down American bland nothingness, Naan-Tastic could've been a sensation. Instead, I'm left grasping for air over the food heartbreak I'm wrenching through tonight. Naan-Tastic - Chicken garlic naan taco with vindaloo sauce, cilantro, mint, and brunoise cucumber and onion - Indian Near Me - Rochester, New York

My father was from India so I grew up eating home-cooked Indian food on a regular basis. I think Rochester has a pretty solid scene for people who want Indian food, but when I heard about Indian fast-food, I was skeptical. Allow me to say right off the bat, I was pleasantly surprised by Naan-Tastic. Walking into the establishment, you would probably think you stumbled into a Chipotle because the layout seems identical. Then you smell the spices and you're reminded that you're in the right place. The ordering process is really simple with you choosing whether to "Roll it or Bowl it"; basically get it in a tortilla wrap or make it a "rice bowl". You can also opt for a Naan-Taco for a little extra. I opted for the rice bowl with a base of turmeric rice. From there, I added chicken tikka, the "Screamin' Vindaloo" sauce, and plenty of toppings with cucumber raita to top it all off. The portions were good, the chicken was well cooked, and I appreciated the variety of toppings that were offered. Throughout the meal, I thought it was good and it was nice to get a taste of actual Indian spices being used to add flavor. Unfortunately, that's where the wow-factor stops. The spices in the food are enough to give it flavor, but not the warming sense of spice that Indian food typically provides. I was told the "Screamin' Vindaloo" sauce was the hottest sauce offered, but I detected zero-spice with the sauce, and the same could be said for the next hottest sauce, the Karma sauce. I also tried the Punjab Mac which is basically macaroni salad with a light flavoring of some spice I couldn't detect (not worth it, but in hindsight, I wish I had tried the makhani fries). To finish off the meal, I tried the Nutella Pistachio Gulab Jamun. It was good, but it was a novelty item. I'd prefer the original rather than have the flavors being masked by the Nutella on top. If you've made it this far, you're probably thinking I'm being overly negative, but here are my final thoughts for Naan-Tastic. For the cost of one bowl or wrap, I could do a lunch buffet at one of the many Indian restaurants nearby and get a similar variety of proteins and toppings. If I wanted to have it in wrap form, it wouldn't be difficult to use the complimentary naan as the "taco" part. If the food made my taste buds come to life, I would feel completely different, but it fell a bit flat in that regard. I think it's good, but not great. read more

Endless possibilities from makhani fries, naan taco bowl, Punjabi Mac, bases of quinoa or fries, and awesome sauces, you can eat here every day of the week for a month and still have a different dish without being overwhelmed or sick of it. - cool hipster vibe - love the bathroom signs and wall mural - if you are vegetarian, gluten free, or a carnivorous consuming human, you all can eat here. There's no discrimination or limitation based on dietary preference. - innovative fusion desserts. My fav so far was the Nutella gulab jamun - fresh orange juice, variety of drinks, and some cool beer Serving machine if you're into that. Fun stuff Gripes: - i don't really have any - the possibilities are endless! I'll need to come back more and try other dishes and combinations. I am sad I missed the Yelp event for their tasting so I had to grab a friend to check them out. She just happens to be from India herself so definitely wanted to get her feedback. We both loved the concept and the staff at the front were very efficient. They knew what the sauces were and even allowed me to taste test some of them to see if I would like the spice level. I went with the lamb with their kada karma spice (mild flavor) and my friend obviously went with their spiciest; their screamin vidaloo with chicken. We loved how many vegetable toppings you could put on it. We both had it over tumeric rice but their are healthier carb consicous options to have it with such as spring mix, quinoa or romaine lettuce. My friend also ordered some sides of samosa and fish pakora, as well as an Indian dessert and mango lassi. She said they all tasted pretty authentic. I thought the samosas was the best out of the appetizers. Have to say for ethnic fresh food, I like it way better than Core life eatery or Chipotle. Even had to get a chicken curry masala for my husband to go. One thing we also observed when we watched the workers in action at the counter was how well they worked together. The owner also seemed very encouraging and made sure the staff was efficient in serving their customers. I thought this was healthy in creating a new establishment and definitely think this spot is such a neat concept for people to try more ethnic food outside their comfort zone. I LOVE Naan-Tastic. I went to an exclusive Yelp preview event before it opened, but I've been back again and the quality was the same for both experiences. This is basically the Indian food version of Chipotle. You pick a style (roll, bowl, taco), a protein, a base (fries, rice, quinoa, etc), a sauce, toppings, and a finishing sauce (various types of chutney or hot sauce). There are several sides you can try, and some desserts. For drinks, all the usual options are available, plus beer and some traditional Indian offerings such as mango lassi. My only gripe here is that for people who have never had Indian food, it may be slightly annoying that there are no descriptions anywhere of the menu items. You will have to ask the staff at the counter for help, and this may prove difficult when it's busy. It can get quite loud. This restaurant is owned and operated by the same family that is responsible for Thali of India (right down the street). If you like Thali, you'll like Naan-Tastic as well. The food is delicious, and everything I've tried to far was amazing. Highly recommend the bowl style (I can fit more cilantro mint chutney in the bowl, and trust me, you'll want to pile on the sauces). Combine the bowl, mango lassi to drink, and either the gulab jamun or cinnamon cookies for dessert for the perfect, most satisfying, but very filling meal. I did try the mahkani fries during my second visit, and they were alright, but nothing to write home about. If you're in the area looking for a fast Indian food option, this is definitely the place! I live at least 20 minutes away but I know I'll be back multiple multiple times. Ok, so I'll be the first to admit that I've been fiercely stalking this grand opening for MONTHS! I've checked in on various social media, anxiously awaiting the day. It finally came! I rushed over around 3pm and before I even fully stepped through the door, the amazing aroma of authentic Indian food hit me like a pile of delicious bricks! I had looked over the menu about 100 times before, and *thought* I knew exactly what I wanted. NOPE! Once you're in that line, seeing ALL of those amazing choices... all pre-planning went out the window. I did stick with my original choice of lamb, and ohhhhh emmmmmm geeeeee it is PERFECT! Tender, perfectly spiced. Melt in your mouth amazing. The mango lassi is so flipping good, too! The staff is so friendly and accommodating, helping with every step! They will happily explain your choices, flavors and offer recommendations if you're stuck. The owners are front line, too which is awesome. I love chipotle and Indian food, so when this new revolutionary Indian restaurant finally opened, I was so excited to try it. I was visiting from Buffalo and went with friends in town. Even though it was my first time, It was so easy to order since it's basically the same style as chipotle. The rice bowl was delicious. I was still full hours later! I absolutely loved the Naan. It was very warm and soft. The restaurant was clean, and despite the long line, it moved very quick since they had many workers in line. We were out in Rochester on an epic quest to find old AD&D books, when we got hungry. I love Indian food, and so after a quick Yelp search we figured we'd try this place. We liked it so much we brought a friend from Buffalo with us just to try it again in the same weekend! It's kind of like Chipotle, where you can get wraps or bowls and they toss the food in as you walk down a line. They have gluten free wraps, which I haven't tried yet, but it's nice to see the option for people like me. So, it's really pretty tasty and fresh. I like the lamb and the paneer, and added some chana masala to the mix today. And the fish is honestly fantastic. I had looked toward to Naan-Tastic's opening since the day I saw the flyer at Thali. I've been twice now, and I truly love it. The Makhani is my jam, and being able to put it on tacos and french fries has been fantastic for me. I think the atmosphere is great, interesting and contemporary, and the food is always delicious (the naan taco is my fave). My only recommendation would be to offer some suggestions on combinations. When I go with people who aren't super familiar with Indian food, it takes a while to explain things to them, and I think maybe some suggested combos would be helpful. But as I'm writing this I see on their facebook page that they're going to start doing this, so, keep up the good work! read more

I was weary about how it would taste but turns out - it's great! I got the lamb in my dish and it was delicious. The sauces, ingredients, and the mango Lassi I got all tasted fresh and authentic. The only suggestion I had is to make some of the chutneys available on the tables. I could have used some more on my dish. The overall vibe of the place was Chipotle-esque. I tried it, I thought it was alright. People have their own preferences for what is delicious. I think the idea is creative. I was excited to try their mango lassi, but was very disappointed since it wasn't cold. It was room temperature and tasted way too strong of yogurt. Plus I was excited to try their chicken, but their sauces weren't as delicious as I was expecting it to be. My husband and I are always looking for interesting places to try when we make our long drives between Cleveland and Albany, NY. On our drive back to Cleveland this past weekend, we decided to check out an Asian restaurant in the Rochester area; only for it to be unexpectedly closed when we arrived. We pulled out the handy Yelp app and discovered Naan-Tastic nearby and decided to give it a shot. Man, are we glad that we did!! Upon first walking in, you smell the delicious aromas and spices of the cooking food-always a promising thing before you get to ordering your food. Naan-Tastic is similar to Chipotle in ordering style-choose a base, protein, sauce(s), toppings... I chose French fries, chickpeas, a sauce that I found reminiscent of something you'd have with malai kofta, cabbage, cilantro, and some tamarind on the side. I also ordered their aloo tikki, which are potato patties that have crumbled paneer (cheese) in them, coated in flour, and fried. The very friendly server behind the counter suggested that my husband make a 'garbage plate', which he absolutely loved. The food was just as delicious as it looked and smelled, too! You can definitely see the Western influence in the food, but it's roots in Northern Indian cuisine are very present as well. I appreciated the upbeat mixture of modern Bhangra music in the restaurant as well. There are a number of interesting decor choices dotted through the restaurant that really help liven the place up and add to the fun atmosphere. There are varied light hangings and fixtures, bold colors, a painting of Punjabi children playing, and probably the biggest standout-a motorcycle by the entranceway! I also noted and loved their bathroom signs that everyone is welcome (the sign is fun, too!). Even their 'caution' signs for wet floors are eye catching! The staff were all extremely friendly and upbeat, and the restaurant was very clean. Naan-Tastic is definitely on our favorite places list now for our long trek home! read more

It doesn't offer the diversity of curries and dishes that you would get at a regular Indian restaurant (e.g., no saag paneer), but if you love Indian food and feel like having a curry without the wait of a sit-down restaurant, this is an excellent place to go.
