I have been eating here since 2001. It has forever been consistent on wonderful food and atmosphere. I haven't lived in town in quite some time, now, but when I return to visit family, this has always been a must eat before our trip is over. The food is far from being authentic mexican food, so don't expect it to be. But, it is great, and that is what matters. The atmosphere is warm, and they have games upstairs if you have little ones. Everyone who works there always seems to be pleasant and enjoying their job. The roast potato quesadilla is amazing, especially if you add chicken. The only negative, in my opinion, would be that they don't have tapatio. Time to upgrade, guys. read more

We had heard good things about this place so we were excited to try it. We got chips and queso, side of beans and rice, and 2 burritos. It was overall dissapointing. The chips are not house made. Which would be fine if we hadn't been given the bottom of the bag. We had a few good chips and then just crumbs and broken chips. The queso was the best part of the whole meal. The "spanish rice" is not spanish rice. My daughter loves rice and she wouldn't even eat it. It had weird seasonings in it and no tomato paste/sauce at all. It was basically white rice with spices in it. Also it was extremely grumpy like it had been made that morning and sat out on the warmer all day. The pinto beans were not tender and lacked flavor. My burrito was eh. I didnt like the chicken in it. My husband got habanero sauce on his burrito and he said it wasn't spicy and lacked flavor. All in all we wont be returning. read more

Best Mexican restaurant in the greater Augusta area. First, the decor. There's a bunch of pictures and painting on the wall with funny quotes on them. The sign on the door says, "Waiters? We don't need no stinkin' waiters." And it's true, they don't have waiters, you order the food then when it's ready a loud dude screams your name. I appreciate the loud guy because I often find that the people yelling names at food places are way too quiet. The margaritas are a little more expensive than what I'd like to pay for a margarita made with well tequila, but it is tasty. Second, the food. The shrimp, oh my goodness, the shrimp. Best shrimp taco I've ever had in my life. It's called red chili seasoning which doesn't tell you much, but it's amazing. The quesadillas come in weighing a solid pound and a half at least (I never actually weighed it, I'm just guessing because it's enough to feed my wife and two kids). Lastly, the location, the only negative. It's located in downtown Augusta so expect a homeless guy who claims to be a pastor to come tell you a weird story and then ask for a five spot. read more

The food took forever in a relatively slow late lunch hour. Food is bland and not Mexican or Tex-Mex in the slightest. Havana burrito was big, but lacked much flavor. Beans and rice weren't good and the wife's nachos were adequate at best. Lunch was $30 for two I'd skip this one. read more

I might be biased because I used to be a cashier here, but I love this place. I can attest that the food here is cooked fresh daily. I no longer live close enough to eat here regularly but I make sure to eat here when I'm in town. There's something for everyone and it's a great mix of family friendly and "grab a drink after work" friendly. The mango habenero salsa is one of my favorites and you can customize just about everything on the menu. I'm not a huge fan of a burrito that you eat with a fork and knife; it defeats the purpose of wrapping it in a convenient tortilla. I enjoy their tacos and quesadillas. Flavors are consistent. Guacamole is good. Service is okay. They call out names, and get my name wrong every time. They don't seem to take much precaution to making sure the guest at the pickup counter gets the correct order. There was a mishap at my last visit where another customers had a similar sounding name and ordered a similar meal. I don't think it was the lip piercing; I suspect they just prefer to yell garbled sounds. After all, intentionally screwing up peoples names and yelling like you're an actor in barbarian porn is kind of the whole hipster server/starbucks barista thing. Anyway, I ended up getting the wrong order. I guess I was partially at fault, but they could have prevented this by being more tuned-in to the fact they had guests with similar names, called names more clearly, and double checked names at the counter when guests pickup their orders. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but the service left a lot to be desired. I tried the cheese dip and it tasted like it was store bought cheese dip. The chips tasted like they came straight out of the bag. I ordered a top shelf margarita and it was horrible. I don't know what kind of mix they used but it did not taste like a margarita at all. I went to this spot with a few girlfriends after work one day. Its a nice spot for gathering and chit chatting but the food could be better. This place is like a bar/ roadside gas station attraction/ mom and pop diner. I order the salad, which there is only one salad dressing to choose from which is a vingarette, and I also order the loaded nachos. When they say loaded they mean it. There was so much on the nachos that after a while all the nachos were soggy and stuck together. They prices are reasonable but the food could be so much better read more

trying to find a decent texmex joint in Augusta has been difficult and i still have yet to find one. the prices were pretty cheap. a meal for two people with beer and cheese dip less than $30. food comes out really quick which deserves a star. i ordered the daddy nachos and it tasted mehh. the nachos were drenched with what i'm assuming was undrained black bean juice? the bf ordered a steak burrito and i was surprised at how teeny it was....it was like half of it was missing. the queso was delicious but both the bf & i thought the chips tasted like it came out of a tostitos bag. also the chips were broken up into small pieces which made me feel like i got the small scrappy pieces leftover at the bottom of a chip bag. methinks Nacho Mama's is just a-okay~ read more

Had the Backyard salad with Mahi. Couple of beers. The salad is one of the best I have had in the state of GA. People laugh and say "but it's a salad... how do you mess that up?" True... salad is pretty hard to screw up... But how many times do you remember a salad and remember it being good... I sat at the bar (I was by myself on a Sun. afternoon) and the people behind the bar were very friendly. It does look like it needs a good cleaning back behind the bar (the grill area) but I'm noticing that is common in a lot of places out here. Overall, great prices, good food, good happy hour. Excellent friendly service, loud fun ambiance and average Mexican food. We frequent Atlanta's Moe's and Willy's and think these restaurants are tastier and better for the value--free chips and your choice of as much salsa as you like! Here we had to pay $2.25 for chips and traditional salsa...and a bit more for the mango habanero which sounded intriguing. But still the prices were decent--especially if you order the seafood options. I liked the open kitchen concept and was impressed seeing the cooks whip out burrito after taco after quesadilla without missing a beat. The ambiance is definitely hole in the wall, loud country music and fun. There were 2 tables in the front window displayed which were cool but they were unfortunately occupied. Counter service. My Baja burrito was ok but I agree with others--the burrito was packed with lettuce and not much protein. The beans and rice were just ok. As I was starving and we were in a rush it was fine, but next time we are in Augusta we will look for other mexican places to try or other restaurants on Broad St. We LOVED Farmhaus Burger for example! read more

Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. I stopped by after work and it was relaxed for a Monday night. I was a little confused at how food was ordered and accidentally sat at my table waiting for a server to come. You order your food at the register and pick it up from the bar. I ordered chips, a taco, and a quesadilla. Everything came out quickly and tasted really good. The quesadilla and taco were flavorful and I loved every bite. I took my cheese dip to go and they offered me a free bag of chips to go too. The servers and bartenders were all friendly. This place is good for work lunches and large groups. You can sit anywhere you want in the restaurant. Parking is just outside on the street or in the parking lots in the middle of the road. read more
