This was our second time at Naf Naf, first time at this location. First bowl was pretty tasty - greens, rice, chicken, tahini, garlic. All the toppings, no onions. Second bowl was kind of a disaster - hummus, baba ganoush, steak, all toppings, tahini, S'khug. It was ridiculously salty. I told the server I messed up my wife's order and she wanted rice in her bowl. The server promptly told me that should have been ordered with the bowl and charged me $3 for one small scoop of rice. *Sigh* Fries were kind of odd but tasty (julienne cut) Lentil soup was way too salty as well. I spoke to my other family members and they didn't have a good food or general experience. Not coming back to this location. read more

I stopped by Naf Naf the night before a nearby race. I was glad to see that they had gluten-free options and choices in the Chipotle/Cava/etc. style. Naf Naf is very similar to Cava. The service I experienced was solid, very friendly and helpful staff. The food options were OK, they didn't seem to be as wide as a selection as Cava. And the overall taste wasn't quite as good as Cava. Overall, Naf Naf is solid, a good amount of food for the price. There are just not quite as good as Cava. Still, if I run across a Naf Naf in another community I am visiting I would not hesitate to try it out for lunch or dinner. read more

I have to admit, I have been to Naf Naf three times in the past two weeks. I guess you could say I like their food. I know some have mentioned it is a bit slow to get their food, I don't think its all the staff's fault. This is new food to many people and I have witnessed on several occasions people in line asking a lot of questions and not sure what they want which really slows the line down. As long as you know what you want, it goes pretty quick. I remember when Chipotle first opened (what seems like a very long time ago), the lines were pretty slow too as people became familiar with their offerings. My favorite to get is a bowl with a little bit of Baba ghanoush on the bottom, then rice with the steak shawarma (I've tried the chicken shawarma and the steak has more flavor, in my opinion). Then I add the chopped salad and a little bit of the sumac onions and a couple of pickles. Finally top it off with the S'Khug hot sauce and just a little bit of the garlic sauce (the garlic sauce is pretty potent so a little goes a long ways). I like the fact that you can add on a falafel for fifty cents. Their falafels are delicious, probably some of my favorite ones in the area. You also get a pita with the bowl, but I usually don't eat much of it as their portions are good size. I could do without the club music blasting while I eat my lunch, but that is pretty much my only complaint about this place. The interior is bright with communal high top tables and also low tables. This was a newly opened place in the ever expanding Brookfield Wi food scene so I had to stop and check them out, another new restaurant in Brookfield Square. The place was totally packed with one table in service at 3:20 pm so I started to wonder if this place was going to be a bust. The place is clean and modern looking with high tables and chairs mostly with lower ones on the edges of the room. To my surprise there was a regular limited soda machine and not one of those fancy mega mix machines. There was cool hanging light fixtures from the ceiling and triangular multi color art on the walls and they bucked the trend by finishing off the ceilings. This place is once again the ever popular and restaurant model that Subway perfected, you can see all the ingredients and as your dish moves down the line as you choose your toppings. You start with a base either a pita or bowl, choose a base ingredient for the bowl, choose meat or falafel for the main and top it to your liking so the finished bowls could have endless outcomes. I opted for a bowl with Basmati rice, Steak Shawarma, Chopped salad, Sumac onions topped with Harissa sauce which is the hottest one, the bowl looked pretty good I must say for fast food. My bowl came with a pita which was cool because I though it was one or the other, bowl or pita. First off the pita was what I would consider perfect for my tastes, super fresh/warm/soft/moist, not dry and hard with with that awesome little chewy pull as you take a bite from it and it separates easily to make a pocket sandwich. The steak was lean tender/moist with no mystery chewy grisly pieces that had a subtle nuttiness mixing with all the flavors of the bowl. The chopped salad had a nice fresh bright flavor from the cucumber and cilantro with the sumac onions just complementing it perfectly. The Basmati rice was cooked perfect, nice and firm with no mushy texture. The Harissa hot sauce just finished off the whole bowl well because it was the perfect balance to the cool/bright/fresh flavors of the bowl with a small spicy/hot finish. The cold ingredients mixed the warm ingredients made for a nice contrast and just played well together. I'm not saying this is healthy or good for you but it was a nice filling change with out having anything greasy or fried for a meal. Overall I liked the layers of flavors and textures which I found to be a nice refreshing change of pace so I would definitely go back and change up the layers and rock the bowl again. Yah it's fast food but it's good fresh fast food that beats the burger boys, I would rather spend $8 on this bowl than $4 for the two crapy sandwiches with frys and a drink any day. read more

This restaurant is like a middle eastern version of chipotle. I love eating at restaurants where you can customize your order and try out different options. I highly recommend requesting the garlic sauce and don't skip on the onions! Having said this, you probably don't want to come here for your first date,haha! This restaurant is probably my new favorite restaurant for a quick and healthy meal. I tried out the bowl with all the fixings, best choice ever. I woke up the next morning wanting to go back. Customer service was excellent the staff was very friendly and helpful being this was the first time I had dined at this restaurant. I found Naf Naf Grill in Chicago a few years back near O'Hare airport. It presents itself as Mediterranean/ Middle East fair and vegetarian friendly. Everything good in one place. The restaurants in downtown Chicago have a line out the door almost every day. I was very happy to see them move into Brookfield. The inside of the restaurants are clean and simple, just like the menu. They offer many options to choose from as a protein. Being mostly vegetarian; I opt for the falafel. Wells seasoned and perfect crunch on the outside. You can have it in a bowl or pita. I like the hummus bowl, but you can have it with seasoned rice as well. Then you can add red cabbage, tomatoes and cucumbers, onions and pickles to accompany the protein. Lastly, you can choose different sauces to add. Hot, Hotter and Garlic are a few. Hot and garlic is my favorite combo. The bowl is complete with a fresh made pita. One of the best things, at least to me, are the Naf Naf fries. Not really fries but thin slices of potatoes fried to a nice golden brown. Yum! Even through the portion in a bowl or pita is plenty, indulge in the fries. Make sure you get a fresh batch. It is straight line service as you come through the door. Just get in line and choose your favorites. There is fairly good seating, with some outside when the weather warms up. It's weird to rate a chain restaurant in a mall as a five star restaurant; however, I think this is a great psuedo fast food option. You walk up and can choose a bowl or bread option. I always opt for the bowl with a little hummus on the bottom to start. Next you choose your protein: chicken or steak schwarma or falafel. I have tried both meat options and slightly prefer the chicken. The schwarma is some of most flavorful that I have tasted. They pull it off the cone right in front of you...so tasty! The toppings are next which are extensive. Typically I roll with the mixed salad (cucumber, tomato, cilantro) a little of the onions and red cabbage and then the garlic sauce. The garlic sauce is really heavy on the garlic which I absolutely love. Sometimes I have them double scoop it just to be decadent. At check out you get a side piece of pita with your meal. It is reasonable for around $8 to $9 per bowl for a quality lunch that beats fast food any day. The workers are also very friendly and the place is spotless. Definitely worth checking out if you want a change from the usual fast food. read more

Naf Naf grill... More like Yea Yea Grill! They have a bright orange sign when you walk in that describes the different food informing you of what it is and what flavors they put in it. Super helpful if you don't eat middle eastern food a lot. It's located before the start of the ordering line so you don't have to feel rushed to read it quickly. This is a build as you go type of system ( think Qdoba/Chipotle/Subway ). You start with your base and add on as you go. The workers are super nice and informative . No fear to all you first timers out there like me, the staff will help you down the line and suggest what typically goes on what. Everything is super fresh and unbelievably clean. I suggest getting rice as your base because a piece of pita bread will come on the side with it! Don't even think about leaving without the fries aka sliced potatoes...add some tahini sauce and you're all set! Portions are huge! I was so full for so long after my meal. Finally a place where meat eaters and vegetarians can sit down and have a meal together without someone being pissy the whole time. It's hard to find a restaurant that makes both happy ...but fear no more because Naf Naf is here. If you're not one to typically like middle eastern food please come here and give it a try, I promise you it will change your mind . I tried the falafel pita sandwich and fries, good stuff and very filling. It's kind of like a Subway scenario, they build your meal as you like and as you move down the line. They have 5 different sauces you can have added to the food or get on the side. I highly recommend trying a couple, I enjoyed the garlic sauce on my pita and the Amba on the side. They have multiple options here, you can either get the pita sandwich or a bowl, with your choice of falafel, chicken or steak schwarma. Then you build as you like with rice, romaine, hummus, veggies, etc. What I enjoyed is knowing that I wasn't going to be charged extra for items I added (okay maybe you would for double meat). The "fries" are thinly sliced potato chips that are deep fried. They were very good but I recommend splitting them with someone as you do get a lot. They also have soup if you prefer that as a side. The space is clean and open and has plenty of seating. In my opinion, much better than The Halal Guys. read more

By far the most frequent way we dine out is for takeout and I can see this becoming a regular part of our rotation. The west side of town can be a bit bleak when it comes to dining options that aren't bland chains. This isn't a place I normally would have tried, but I'm glad Nancy picked it. The servings were giant and while I'm definitely glad I added fries/chips, you definitely can split those between 2-3 people. The folks behind the counter were super friendly and helpful in describing options we weren't familiar with and allowing us to try anything before we ordered it. Even though it's fast-casual for the suburban masses, I found the food to be really flavorful and not at all the bland, boring stuff I was worried about. You order like at Qdoba and walk down the line as the server loads up your plate with your choices. I had a bowl which comes with a giant, fresh pita and I had plenty of leftovers. Fast-casual eateries rarely impress me, as they tend to be over-priced fast food that has simply been marketed as something better than a McMeal. They usually aren't. Naf Naf, on the other hand, is a deliciously different option. The Naf Naf set up is similar to that of Qudoba, in that there's a buffet of options that a server divies out. Guests can build a bowl or a pita sandwich full of middle eastern fixins. There are also a plethora of sides, drinks, and sauces to complete the meal experience. It's not a new concept, but it is a good formula for people who want a more customized dining experience than drive-thru joints provide. My husband and I each ordered a dinner special, which included chicken kabobs, rice, hummus, falafel, cabbage salad, cucumber salad, pickles, and a pita. Basically, it gave us a chance to try a little bit of everything. We also got a side order of Naf Naf fries and soup. We got the additional sides free thanks to a coupon on the restaurant's app. All of the star hot items were made to order, including the chicken, falafel, and fries. This was especially crucial for the falafel, which really must be consumed fresh. Left to sit for any period of time, falafel turns into a garbonzo bean boulder that could destroy expensive dental work in a single bite.The other items came from the buffet, but everything on our plates was appropriately hot or cold. The kabobs were perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. The falafel was a bit greasy, but had a really great bit of added kick from just the right amount of jalapeño. The pitas were warm, soft, and pillowy, which paired perfectly with the smooth, mild hummus. The purple cabbage and cucumber salads were crisp and fresh, but definitely benefitted from a healthy sprinkling of salt. Though, they were wise not not to add salt to them in the buffet, as they would quickly turn into sweaty, soggy, salad soup. The pickles had a hint if cilantro, so they really tied the meal together and reinforced the medditeranean flavors. The highlight of the dinner plate was definitely the garlic sauce. Had I known it was so creamy, garlicy, and delicious, I would have had the server smother the entire plate with it. The side items were a hit and a miss. The soup was great. Lentil soup can be bland, but this was anything but boring. It had a nice almost chickeny flavor and a good balance of seasoning. The Naf Naf fries were far less exciting. They are just round, fried potatoes. Now, fried potatoes are never bad, especially when made fresh. The problem was that they seemed out of place. They didn't have any special seasoning or any real tie in to the restaurant's theme. Maybe if they were tossed in a special seasoning or paired with a sauce in a purposeful way, they'd make more sense. Finally, I have to say that the staff was ridiculously great! Everyone looked genuinely happy to be there and the entire team was working together in harmony. The manager also took a moment to stop around at the tables to see how the food was being received. Everything was spic and span too, which tells me management and employees are really working just as hard at keeping up the dining area as they are in the kitchen. There are several other eateries offering similar fare in the Brookfield area, including a nice sit down restaurant. However, Naf Naf is the winner in my book. Since Baba Ghanouj on the eastside closed, this is our go-to place for shawarma and falafel. I've been coming her for about a year, and today was the day that I finally thought, 'Why don't I set this giant round tray on the 4" counter lip while I fill up my soda?' Like an idiot, I dropped my tray and delicious hummus and rotisserie-perfect chicken fell everywhere. Near tears, I approached the counter to ask for a Wet Floor sign and apologize. I will go out of my way to get lunch here--it's SO good. It is sort of set up like a Qdoba of Middle Eastern food, a supply line that you pick and choose, then pay at the end. They make homemade pitas that come with almost every entree - and they are airy and light and amazing. I always choose to "naf it up" with the addition of a pop and either their "fries" (which are more like homemade thick potato chips) or their lentil soup. I LOVE the soup. For an entree I choose to build a bowl that has cous cous, chicken and all the delicious toppings. You can tell that everything is fresh, the kitchen/dining room are spotless and the staff is great. I've put in large orders online before and have never had trouble with order accuracy or timeliness. The best part is the cost/size of entree ratio. I can easily get two filling meals out of one bowl here - and it's a steal! read more

Wow was this good! I have tried both the chicken and steak bowls and prefer the chicken. Get the hummus bowl and ask for rice in it. You won't be disappointed. The hummus here is so, so good. I did all the toppings once and it was great. Left off the onions another time, but I think going easy on the garlic sauce is the key to not feeling like you have to have some kind of special mouthwash to not offend people after eating here. That said, I have tried all the sauces other than the mango and they are excellent. I was skeptical when I walked in and saw a buffet style set up like Qdoba but the falafels were tasty and crispy and the pita bread was soft and fluffy and the tahini sauce was on point. They also offer a bowl which is great if you hate bread. (Who hates bread??) I topped mike with pickled onions and a chopped cucumber mix. This place used to be really good. Not sure if the management has changed but the staff is just not welcoming or friendly anymore. I got charged extra dollars when asked for more lettuce. The sauces I requested in the side were never added to my to go order. It's sad because this used to be a wonderful place, quick grab and go kinda place. Now it's just disappointing. Everything tasted great. I got the baba ganoush, chicken, and all the other toppings. I "naf'd" it up and got the fries (fried sliced potatoes) and a drink. Being my first time I learned some lessons, the first and most important of which was that I my bowl would have been better with rice. I wasn't aware until after I ordered and watched someone else go though that I could ask for more than just one "base". If I go back I'll start with rice and either the baba ganoush or hummus. Really, that's all that was missing: rice. Overall, any disappointment was the result of my own choices and I will absolutely go back to try another bowl from Naf Naf.
