One of our new favorite spots! I have been meaning to try Bread House for a while. I don't live in Milwaukee, but Madison is not so far away. So, of course, we had to try a bunch of different items. All the dips, the topped hummus, baba ghanoush, and skillet tomatoes (forgot the name) were amazing! The hummus alone was so silky and smooth. The bread is super soft and fluffy; we had the flatbread with different toppings. Very good! My favorite was the za'atar one. We had something I've never had before called Stromboli (stuffed roll) with Akkawi white cheese, and it was my favorite. So, so good! And we can't forget the falafel, with the hummus and the fluffy bread, just goes together perfectly. Staff were all super informative and friendly. They have the cutest Budgerigar birds, a blue and a green one, so cute! read more

A Taste of Home in Wisconsin! Bread House is my absolute go-to spot whenever I crave a traditional Arabic Middle Eastern breakfast. Stepping inside truly feels like home. The service was wonderful and the staff made the experience even better. Perfect for breakfast or lunch, everything is made fresh on the spot and you can really taste the difference. We ordered the spinach pie, potato pie, Akkawi cheese pie, hotdog pastry, and the egg manqousha. Every single item was delicious. We also had two Lotus cheesecakes for dessert and they were amazing. We have yet to go to the restaurant in person, but it's our new favorite to order from. Everything we have tried has been so good but I'm obsessed with the Akkawi cheese with mozzarella, garlic, & butter roll. It's SO TASTY and if you order the tomatoes with beef it makes for a great dip for the roll. The portions are large for the price and the menu is long so we're excited to continue exploring. Oh my Pie's , what an absolute GEM! This Middle Eastern spot is a flavor explosion that teleported my taste buds straight to foodie heaven! The hummus was so creamy it should have its own fan club, and the falafel? Crispy outside, fluffy inside--basically the Beyoncé of chickpeas. The staff were super warm, like I was dining at my cool aunt's house, and the vibe was cozy with just the right amount of spice (in the decor AND the food). I stopped here for lunch because it's a Mediterranean restaurant thats very different from any other Mediterranean restaurant that I have been to because it's a bakery with a very different menu. The menu has appetizers, flat breads with various toppings, flat bread pizza, skillets, clay pots, sandwiches, soups, salads, Stromboli etc. I would get a small order of falafel and and the beef/lamb sandwich which was $6.88 so I wasn't exactly much. The beef/lamb sandwich is seasoned ground meat inside a fresh toasted flat bread which was good and spicy. The falafel was cooked to order with a nice crispy shell and soft center. The falafel was very tasty and seasoned nicely and in hind sight I should have got some hummus with it. I'm really liking this menu because I have never seen anything like it in my vast food travels. This place is a hidden gem. The food was tasty, the service was above and beyond, and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed. We drove from Madison specifically to Bread House and they fully delivered. I strongly recommend their cheese flatbread, thyme, and eggs with pepperoni (halal). We had some mint tea that was really good. On the way out, I grabbed a box of their dates cookies (mamoul), the label quoted "let the taste do the talking" and I for sure recommend it, the taste was authentic and sweet, just to top things off. We love this place and will be adding it to our list. Special kudos to the young girl at the cash register, she was really knowledgeable, fast, and really respectful. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall on 27th Street we stumbled upon The Bread House Mediterranean Bakery, and it turned out to be a prime example of why you can't judge a book by its cover. The lamb/beef meat pie was beautifully spiced and strong with the lamb taste I so often crave. Everything is from scratch, so it was served hot and crispy. For something sweet we shared kishta thick cream w/honey - simple, and very satisfying. This bakery's staff offered warm, welcoming hospitality and the eating area was open and relaxing. Not being at all familiar with Mediterranean food much beyond hummus and falafel, I am excited to return to The Bread House to further explore the menu. DO NOT FORGET to grab a pack of their fresh baked flatbread on the way out. Our package was still warm from the oven! read more

Their topped hummus is to die for and the almonds garnishing the dish take everything to the next level. Their pita selection is phenomenal. Ordered to go: Taboulah salad, Chicken Pie, Spinach Pie, and Zatar. Both Zatar orders were good. Shells for pies were cooked golden, but the contents could benefit from salt and flavor. Otherwise they were bland. Taboulah salad was the worst. Literally filled the bowl a quarter full with old barley, stale lemon juice, and with a couple tomatoes. The greens were hardly noticeable. Went to the Bread House for the first time today on the recommendation of a friend. Wow! Great food. Great service. I'm not familiar with a lot of Mediterranean food. Sia patiently described various dishes and waited for us to order. We loved everything we ordered. My son especially liked the duplex bread with lamb and beef. My husband ordered the zinger pita and wouldn't share. I will go out of my way to order the fries again...the crispiness and seasoning are awesome. Everything is made fresh! (Plan for orders to take a few minutes to cook...so worth it.) I understand the Bread Store is under new management. I don't know what it was like before, but they're sure doing things right now. Our first trip to Bread House was warm and welcoming ! There were some people ahead of us at the register, but we were welcomed by the owner (or manager?) and asked if he could help to recommend anything on the menu. He gave great recommendations and explained items I was unfamiliar with. We ordered flat bread: Akkawi with Zatar, labneh with mozzarella and siniora, eggs pie (like a 8 inch quiche) along with eggplant cauliflower and potato sandwich, beef with lamb arayes and Akkari pie. Fattoush was out of this world! (Chef's kiss!) The seating area was clean and tidy, but we wanted to-go. Met a friend here for lunch. The place looks brand new - it's spare and clean. I was expecting a bakery with a few meal options but they had a decent sized menu. My friend had a muhammara pie and meat-filled roll that she liked so much that she bought extras to take home. I had a pita filled with cauliflower, eggplant, hummus, and falafel. There was also some Arabic salad in there, so it was substantial and delicious! I'm picky about falafel and this was very tasty. Next time we're going to sample some of the stuffed falafel, which I had never seen. I'm very excited to taste the onion and sumac! The sandwiches come on a selection of breads including French, saj, and ka'ak, and I had already ordered when I realized they have all kinds of egg dishes and dinner-worthy entrees. Customers order at the counter and the staff is very friendly. The woman who took our order put up with a lot from us because we were unfamiliar with the food and everything looked so good. They have refrigerated drinks and a bakery case. Again, I played it safe and walked out with the standard baklava (which didn't disappoint!) and my friend bought a selection of cookies. She said the sesame were her favorite. We hadn't seen each other for awhile, and we were able to sit and relax and have a nice conversation. I was impressed at the amount of traffic they had. Most of the customers were picking up lunch or bakery. The layout was open with plenty of space and we really enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend this place any day! read more
