    Pork bowl
    Alison P.

Outstanding food with creative flavor combinations. I had the pork bowl which comes with pickled carrots, cabbage, rice, pork, a tasty sauce, and potatoes... so yummy! The server was very kind and helpful; service was speedy. I got my food to go and my bowl was ready in less than 5 minutes. Definitely will come back to try other food!

This is a hidden gem!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing food and a great ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I walked in and the owners were very welcoming and explained the menu to me. This was a great experience and I'll be back for sure! Come check it out.

Newly opened in Crossroads Collective. We chatted with the owner while waiting for our food and he shared a lot of stories about how they came to Milwaukee from California to open this little cafe & interesting things about the restaurant's concept & food. Very nice and friendly people there. We were so excited to try their food! And the food didn't disappoint us. I liked my Anglo Indian Shepherd's Pie so much!!! So flavorful and creamy yet not too heavy. The salad was refreshing and nicely seasoned. Hubby thought his goa pulled pork was good too and I took a bite and could not agree more. Although the menu says it's cooked in spicy sauce, the pork didn't taste spicy. Just savory and went well with the kale salad and bread. We also got a house special hummus, a milk chocolate almond cookie, a ginger cookie and a iced immuni tea. The hummus and cookies (we took the cookies home and tried them later) were good. The immuni tea was refreshing and got some very interesting taste - it tasted like lemonade w spices followed by a kick of ginger. Overall, we had a refreshing, flavorful, balanced and not heavy Indian fusion lunch. I would say the price might be a bit high for the portion size. But great experience. We will go back and try their curry!

Ruta's is just like its name- Vibrant and absolutely delicious. They blend Indian spices in a unique way to bring out the flavors of the meat and veggies. It's a unique twist of Indian dishes such as the slow cooked pulled pork bowl and Andhra chicken with lots of vegetables. Best kept secret- Try their food with local Milwaukee beer (we paired it with Black Husky IPAs). The cookies and bread pudding is also a must ry for that sweet tooth in you. Will need to keep going back to try everything on their menu. Update: Went back to Ruta's for dinner and the hummus plate was delisssh! The chai with thr cookies are also a must try.

Seasoned chickpeas, tomato masala, turmeric carrots and beets

The food at Ruta's was such a pleasant surprise! What a delicious and filling meal and with the build your own model I love so much! I ordered the tomato masala and chickpeas and was very happy with the portion size and flavor profile. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant itself had a very low key vibe. Would come back again!

Food is good but so overpriced for the portions they give. Should either be brought down in price or up the portions.

Food: They have a large selection of breakfast pastries, including scones, cinnamon rolls, hand pies, and more. There are also some savory items, such as a rosemary biscuit. It was a tough choice, but when in doubt, I go for a scone, and they had a Maple Cinnamon one. I had it warmed up a bit, and it was delicious. These scones are not muffins in disguise, which means the texture is a bit drier and more crumbly--perfect alongside a hot beverage. For my drink, I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte. I was hoping to have it served in an actual ceramic mug, but those are only offered to customers who order drip coffee. That said, they made a very good London Fog, with a little extra lavender and plenty of foam. For my taste, it could have been a bit hotter. Service: Everyone who helped us was kind and helpful and gave us plenty of time to choose the perfect pastries. When ordering the London Fog, they explained how they make theirs and how they would add the extra lavender, which I appreciated. As mentioned above, they do not provide mugs for specialty drinks, using mugs instead to keep track of customers who have paid for bottomless drip coffee. I could bring my own mug from home, but I am not a fan of carrying around coffee shop essentials. Atmosphere: The building is nicely designed on the outside and sits on a corner with plenty of large windows that bring in natural light. It faces north, so you avoid the glaring morning sun. Upon entering, there is a short walk to the counter, where you can view all of the bakery and pastry items. A menu board above clearly displays the breakfast and lunch offerings, making it easy for first time visitors. There are numerous tables that accommodate small groups, and a fireplace with a couple of upholstered chairs offers a cozy seating option. Even after filling up with customers, the noise level was very good, and easy to have casual conversations. A nice visit and a place I would enjoy coming back to.

Seriously, it's like walking into another country!…read more Pan-Asian Supermarket is an experience all on its own. The variety of unique fruits, roots, vegetables, spices, and seafood is incredible. And when I say seafood, I mean it feels like walking into an actual fish market! I'm standing there thinking, Who eats eel? And then wondering, How exactly do you cook a jellyfish head?! And don't even get me started on the Balut egg... WHO is eating that?! But putting my adventurous-food questions aside, this is absolutely the place to come for all your stir-fry, curry, and ramen needs. They have an amazing selection of vegetables, sauces, oils, noodles, and rice--including plenty of options in bulk. The food court looked AMAZING, and whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bakery! The baked goods were soooo good. Whether you're looking for something familiar or want to venture way outside your comfort zone, this place has it all. We'll definitely be adding Pan-Asian Supermarket to our regular store rotation!

Asian grocery stores are my "happy place." When I lived in Texas I had no less than 4 Asian grocery…read morestores within a 2 miles radius of my home (if that). H Mart was my favorite, followed by Ranch 99. Unfortunately, here in Wisconsin, I have to now drive nearly 10 miles to get to the closest Asian market! So when I heard Pan Asian was opening in my area (2-3 years ago), I literally marked my calendar for opening day. I'm so happy they're a part of the community now! First off, today, LOUIS deserves a big gold star (if not a raise, hint hint, management, lol). Not only did he stop what he was doing, but walked me over to what I was looking for. TWICE. No eye-rolling, no exasperated sighs - nope, he just said "sure, it's right over here..." THAT kind of customer support alone goes MILES for those who are new or unfamiliar with a place (as I was), and makes me want to return again soon! Like many Asian stores, Pan Asian had elements of "chaos" throughout the store - they were doing lots of stocking when I was there (mid-afternoon on a Wednesday), and the music was a bit too loud (Note to management: background music is supposed to be just that - in the background, quiet and atmospheric - not a dance club). As at other stores, Pan Asian needs to keep tabs on their price tags - many were missing, or the product above the price tag was NOT the product on the tag, or 2 different but similar products by the same brand with only one price tag made shopping a bit frustrating. But as I always do, I'll have a short list of 3-5 items, and end up leaving with a cartful. ‍ For me it's easy to spend a solid hour or more there, just oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over all the exotic items, the live fish, the interesting kitchen goods (even if I can't read 99% of the labels). I always try to leave with something new to me; today, it was pickled plums (I've started making sushi and onigiri at home, and heard pickled plums were a Japanese favorite with onigiri). They're awesome, but very salty, indeed. Their produce section is large, amazing, and FRESH. Hard to choose what to get from that section, as well as their bountiful flavorings, sauces, Speaking of, I was thrilled to find that the store also has an incredible sushi selection and yes, even onigiri too (though TBT the price was a bit steeper than I hoped, and I could not find any onigiri molds in their hard goods section). I must admit that several items I looked at throughout the store seemed rather pricey - not sure if that a tariffs thing, or an import thing - so I will stick with Woodman's for my "regular" shopping, while supplementing with more of the fun Asian items I find at Pan Asian!
