Let me lead with the positive: the naf fries are perfection! They are the perfect thickness and expertly salted. The only possibly complaint is that maybe they were priced higher than they should be. We stopped in here for lunch on a long road trip. We've stopped on this exit before and seen Naf Naf so made a plan to try it this time. We really wanted to like it, but factoring in the taste, price, environment, and portions, it's only a 2-star experience. Me and hubby both had bowls with shawarma chicken. He wanted steak but was told it wasn't ready. I also need to note that he went in to order our food while I helped our toddlers eat in the car. He noted that the inside wasn't very clean--dusty tables, brown splatter on some of the straws suggesting someone had spilled at some point, just not very clean. My bowl was fine. The fresh ingredients were good but the chicken seemed a little old/dry. In totality, the flavors didn't come together as well as they could have with more seasoning. Truly, I needed a sprinkle of salt to bring out the flavors better. The bowl came with a pita, which I wasn't expecting but helped. I ordered a side of Naf fries; just to reiterate, they were perfect but overpriced ($3.28) for what is essentially fast food. If I had to sum this place up, it's the Chipotle of the Mediterranean food market. I ran in briefly to take the toddlers to the bathroom and did well to take them one at a time. The bathrooms are single use and dirty. I'd fail at keeping wandering toddler hands in the places approved to touch if I had two in there at once. We won't stop here again. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl with hummus, basmati rice, onions, cabbage, pickles and for sauces, the garlic, tahini, and s'khug. S'khug, while not an appetizing name, is a tasty jalapeño-based sauce that is similar to a chimichurri. I like that they spread the hummus around the bowl first before adding ingredients, rather than slap a blob on top. What that does is it allows the hummus to be imparted in every bite. The chicken had a nice seasoning as did the vegetables and rice. I would love to see a steak shawarma instead of the grilled steak they offer though. I was here in Knoxville visiting a friend when I was browsing through what restaurants were in the area and discovered there was a Naf Naf nearby. We ordered 2 plates through door dash. Upon opening the bag everything looked really good(see pictures) but that's where the good ended. The rice was crunchy, the falafel was fishy tasting and everything was COLD not cool but cold. The bread was a dough ball in the center and the baklava was squished so tight in plastic wrap it was smashed. The highlight of the entire meal was the cold shawarma chicken and the hummus. We paid $50.00 + tip for this meal and I hope that it might be better in person because this store is a door dash pass. Naf Naf is a no no. We ordered for the first time tonight and got Chicken Shawarma and steak hummus bowls and falafels. Everything was fresh, meat tender, veggies crisp, and hummus creamy . Often falafels are dense and dry but here, they were perfectly crisp on the outside with the inside moist (yes, I know we all hate that word) and savory. Tasted great with a side of garlic sauce. Speaking of sauces, the tahini and garlic are great but definitely get the red and green on the side so you can add to tolerance, as they've got KICK. It doesn't say it online, but the bowls each came with a good sized pita, so no need to order an extra...although they are so good you may want an extra or two. Fluff-tastic and really soft and tasty. I appreciated the vast amount of free toppings for the bowls and that onions were listed separately. As an anti-onion gal, I often find that restaurants have them mixed in with the other veggies so I have to either spend 5 years picking them out or do without veggies altogether. This place is awesome. If you enjoy Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants, Naf Naf is a cut above with fresh/healthy ingredients and unique sauces! In my view, it is similar to the way that Chipotle has presented Mexican food (or Tandur with Indian food, another favorite of mine). In this case, it is higher quality Mediterranean-style that you can get quickly. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Baba Ghanoush bowl with Middle Eastern Pickles and tablouli. Just excellent in every way. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and the baba ghanoush (similar to hummus - but made of eggplant) was very tasty. We also ordered the pick 2 plate with chicken and steak. This was also quite good. Not like the greasy or heavy food you might see at some gyro shops. Although new, Naf Naf is on my short list of favorites. Food quality, price, and service were excellent. The owner, Nick, also seemed to be a really nice guy. The food is always great, however we have had two instances where we were overcharged. You need to look at your receipts closely. One time, they charged us for an extra meal, and tonight, they charged us $5.95 for a large hummus when the board says $4.50 for large. NONE of the staff have keys to refund, only a manager can, and they have not been on site either visit where we have been overcharged. Tonight, we had to wait 15 or 20 minutes for a manager to show up. He then argued that the price was $5.95, and when we had him look at the board with the prices, he said the board was wrong! I'm a sucker for all things mediterranean and they do it in a quick and fresh process. We placed our order using their super simple online process and scheduled delivery for later in the evening. I was pleased with all of the toppings that I selected. Everything was super flavorful and fresh. I was super impressed with the hummus and chicken. The chicken was really flavorful and not dry at all. The pita was amazing. It was like a fluffy cloud! So light and soft! Pro tip: since you can order multiple sauces without additional charge, order the garlic sauce on the side to dip your pita in. OMG, so good! The portions are definitely adequate especially for the price. I was pleased with my leftovers the next day. I was really pleased with the delivery experience. Their packaging is minimal and the bowls are even compostable. The food arrived hot and fresh exactly when I scheduled it to, though I had ordered it hours before. The pick 2 plate had so much deliciousness on it: chopped salad, tabbouleh salad, rice, purple cabbage, falafel, chicken shawarma, middle eastern pickles, hummus and pita. The pita is so fresh and fluffy, definitely the best pita in town. If you want to buy pita then they will sell it to you individually or however many pitas you want. I also ordered the Naf Naf fries which are potatoes sliced very thin and fried those were really good too! I'm assuming the man behind the cash register was the owner/manager his name was Nick and he was extremely friendly. He ran out to the parking lot to give me my Naf Naf fries as he told me to wait but it went in one ear and out the other. The falafel was super crunchy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. My pita bread was so airy, soft and fluffy! This food is very light weight, not heavy on the stomach, also gluten free. The customer server was impeccable!! The owner Nick, made his way around the entire restaurant and outside on the patio interacting with customers. He has a great personality and his wife was super sweet! Nick was nice enough to grab us a few extra pitas before we left. Naf Naf might seem like nothing more than a typical build-your-own-bowl fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant. And if it were just that, it would already get high marks from me for the quality of ingredients and the incredible flavors. I started off my bowl with a base of romaine lettuce topped with five falafel balls, chopped cucumbers/tomatoes, purple cabbage, sumac onions, and pickles, all topped with drizzles of tahini, along with creamy hummus, baba ghanoush, garlic sauce, harissa, and spicy s'khug on the side. My lunch time go to is the chicken Shawarma salad bowl topped up with the cucumbers and red cabbage, dollop of hummus, the all important Harissa, and Knoxville's best pita on the side. I've had the rice bowl, and it's good, but it's too much food with that pita. Of course I can eat it all, but that's the problem! This place has good food but... something is off with the staff. I go regularly, first of all the lady with the gauges/short hair cut and tattoos all over is extremely RUDE!!! Tried to give her to benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day? But no it's every time. The rest of the staff seems almost like they are hostages being forced to work there. Seriously.
