I'm Japanese and usually very picky about eating sushi in Atlanta or anywhere in the Southern states since they're usually owned by Thai or Chinese and not authentic Japanese food. As a Japanese person, I enjoyed this place and approve :) I came to try this out since I heard it was owned by the same Japanese guy who owns Wagaya (which is also a very delicious restaurant!). I have come multiple times with my boyfriend here! The chicken katsu is yummy, their chicken karaage is on point (ask for a spicy mayo sauce to eat it with!) and their ramen set that comes with sushi rolls is an excellent deal. I also enjoy their chirashi sushi. The sushi seems fresh and skillfully cut and put together. The service here is great, location is convenient in Midtown, the restaurant is always clean and has a cute green vibe to it (plant leaves along the wall!) and is very modern and chic. I love coming here and the only downside is that it's not open everyday! I am so glad this opened in Midtown closer to where my boyfriend lives so I can enjoy my favorite Japanese comfort foods when I don't feel like cooking at home! read more

I'm a fan! My friend and I made reservations for 6:30pm on a Thursday night and we were seated promptly when we arrived. There's a parking deck behind the restaurant and they validate for two hours. My daughter had a delicious Tenzaru Soba + Mini Chirashi, and I had the sashimi deluxe. The fish was to die for, the servings generous for sashimi, and the Soba + Chirashi also came with tempura and chawanmushi which we found to round out a generous and fantastic set. We also had a couple appetizers and individual pieces. Nagomiya also has a broad and fantastic list of choices beyond sushi and sashimi such as ramen. I saw this mentioned somewhere and decided to try it out! When you turn into W Peachtree St. NW, there's a parking deck on the left that has the Nagomiya sign along the wall. Parking will be validated at the restaurant and it's free up to 2 hours, but you still have to go through the payment stuff that's posted everywhere in the parking deck. It's a little annoying but at the end of the day, I don't have to download an app and it's still free. The feel of the restaurant is very nice, though I do wonder if they will keep up with cleaning & dusting all those fake plants. I got the chirashi don and added $5 for uni. It was the best $5 I ever spent. We also tried the takoyaki and the karaage. Both were good, I liked the larger than usual octopus in my takoyaki. I also tasted the tonkotsu broth, which was light but still pretty good pork flavor. The karaage was fried nicely and still juicy. It was served with a side of sauce not far off from gochujang (sweet & spicy). I wish they gave a wedge of lemon we could actually squeeze instead of a slice of one that was there for decoration. The Kiss of Juju roll was interesting... I admit I only ordered it because of the strawberry. I don't know if it added to it or not... but it wasn't the most offensive thing, and I liked it with or without it. All in all, Nagomiya, I will be back soon :) The prices are super fair and not overly expensive just because it is in midtown. I emailed reservations and got a response 24 hours later, but on the day of I called and asked to move up our reservation and it was easily accommodated. Staff were friendly, even if they were not fully knowledgeable about the menu, but I won't fault them. It's a soft opening after all. read more

Nagoyima Needing a good ramen, sushi, or Japanese crafted meal in the Midtown Atlanta area? I would recommend Nagoyima. The restaurant entrance is on 10th Street, but there is a parking garage on West Peachtree That will validate your parking. Just get a picture of your plate, scan the parking QR code and walk to go in the restaurant for a code to enter and be validated for 2 hours. Chose to ate here for lunch after a run on the Beltline and the food and service did not disappoint! The Koterri Tonkotsu was lighter in taste and consistency compared to some of the other ramen spots. It's not a ramen or Japanese spot i would choose over some of the other ones up in Gwinnett, but it's definitely a place I would recommend as a small, quick, and affordable meal in Midtown if you are in the Atlanta area. If I go again I'll definitely try the sushi as the option looked captivating, but I had wanted something a little more filling from the running. read more

We came across this place and booked reservations by the looks of the menu, I was under the impression that this would be a very authentic japanese restaurant. they had very niche items like nanban chicken and sawagani, which are hard items to usually find on any regular japanese restaurant menu so I was intrigued. We ordered the nanban chicken and spicy garlic edamame to start with. The nanban chicken tasted like american fish and chips, not in a good way. lol japanese tartar sauce is suppose to more vinegary and just different... breading was off too and heavy. Just didn't taste authentic at all. The edamame.. something so simple.. really was not it, the flavor wasn't good, it was just oily, had no flavor and there wasn't any hint of garlic whatsoever, which is in the actual name. And the edamame itself did not taste fresh, I don't expect fresh never frozen edamame but there was a dryness to it, maybe too old or overcooked. We ordered the spicy sukiyaki+ mini chirashi special. When our sukiyaki came out, it came with a raw egg in the middle, no direction at all on what to do with it, do we dip it? add it to the pot? we asked the server and she sounded unsure herself.. she said some people like to add it to the pot for "creaminess" so we dipped our shabu in it and it didn't feel right since it gave no flavor and i was just dipping into raw egg, so I added it to the broth, didn't seem like that was it either lol. It also came with tempura but no dipping sauce for the shabu or the tempura. the tempura was soggy and not crispy. the mini chirashi was skimpy, the rice to fish ratio was way off and the fish was cut to practically see-through pieces. honestly the only thing that tasted good was the steamed egg. (i'm talking about the whole entire meal) the spice in the sukiyaki tasted like they used szechuan (which is chinese) maybe try togarashi? I feel like they really missed the mark here. Honestly nothing was memorable or even tasty, we didn't even want to finish our $200 meal which is a first for us. We also ordered signature and classic rolls, modern and traditional nigiri. They used too much rice in the rolls, we were unsatisfyingly full. The service was very inattentive and never checked on us once, we had to wave down our server for things that should have been dropped like sauce ramekins and napkins. Even the spicy mayo was just mayo, I was even going to ask for sriracha so I can add to it myself but it was hard to get service. I try not to have expections when I try a new place but this was just a hard miss unfortunately, mediocre at absolute best. not just from an authenticity standpoint, this is based off taste, flavors and quality. Disappointing because we wanted to come back for the omakase if it was good. just my opinion that I hope will be taken in as constructive criticism. read more

The facilities were clean and the restaurant itself had a very chill modern zen garden like ambience. Awesome midtown Ramen & Sushi spot! My husband and I went for lunch and both got the Ramen and 2 lunch special. At $18 for a bowl of Ramen and two sushi rolls, it's truly a steal! The Kotteri Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious. It's lighter (less fatty, less salty) than other Tonkotsu ramen I've had, which I'm a fan of! The avocado salmon roll was awesome (perfect amount of wasabi) & the crunchy yellowtail was good too. I'm excited to come back for dinner and drinks next time! We'll be back. We came for an early dinner. First off, service from the front door to the servers are great. The host even helped me out by bringing me tape for my broken heel. Here's what we had: -pork gyoza- just as expected, pretty good, some of them could've used a touch bit more filling -kaarage fried chicken with chili garlic sauce- a tad dry but flavor was good and didn't notice the dryness when dipping in the sauce - endless lava roll- yum! There's a lot of toppings but you can still taste everything - kiss if juju- interesting combo but the strawberry really works. I will say, it was really good because our strawberries were super sweet but less sweet strawberries wouldn't work as well with a salty/sweet combo - sweet shrimp- I liked the flavor but it was too soft and mushy of a mouth feel for me Drinks: tropical thunder- sweet and spicy, my fave combo and hubby had a bourbon drink with maple, can't remember the name but it was nice and smooth read more

I had dinner here tonight, wanting to try somewhere new for sushi and indeed, Nagomiya is nearly brand-new. Expectedly, the space is therefore new, sleek, and as advertised, rather tranquil as well. However, the music being played--which ranged from 90s American pop to Japanese J-pop--was not so soothing. It seemed to jump around a lot, no theme, and some songs just seemed out of place for the atmosphere. I wouldn't care so much if the restaurant was not advertising its very tranquility, but it is, and the music made the atmosphere instead disjunctive. Service was fine, but there were few customers as it was a little early for dinner, just right before six. So, they were not at all busy. The sushi chefs are personable and highly competent. Which brings us to the food. All I ordered was sushi, and all of it was very good. They have a menu of "modern nigiri" which includes some additional touches to their nigiri like adding ponzu or yuzu to some, which at first I balked at because to me nigiri ought to taste very pure, but the tuna and salmon alike I tried were impressive. The rolls I ordered were pretty simple and standard rolls, but also of fine quality while the presentation was on par for your expectations: a nice wabi-sabi approach that was elegant but without being fussy and more attuned to nature than simply dressing up the fish or the table service. That sort of aspect, the food's presentation and the attentiveness of the chefs, goes a long way to me in terms of the "tranquil" atmosphere. Therefore, I will give them four stars: if you want good, dependable, sushi and made by people who know what they're doing and take pride in their efforts, look no further. However, some of the other aspects of the environment like the music I think could use some work. I've been to other sushi bars in America where such emphasis at a truly pristine, tranquil, and consummate experience IS fully present (Kabooki of Orlando in example) so it's easy to spot when absent. This is a great and fairly affordable date night spot! Parking: There is a parking deck attached and while you have to initially register and "pay" when you park on the website, you'll get 2 hours validated (via a code) when you dine. Atmosphere: There is some soft Japanese pop/ rock music playing in the background which helps add to the ambiance. I definite heard some RADWIMPS! We were seated towards the back which was fairly quiet and more secluded, which I liked. Food & Drinks: I thought everything we got was pretty good! - Bonsai cocktail- This was good but didn't taste like what I was expecting. It felt more cucumbery than green tea/ pineapple like. - Seaweed salad- Pretty standard/ solid - Akuma no Toiki- Reportedly one of their most popular rolls. Its seared by a blowtorch at table side. It's not spicy at all, though. - Crispy Rice- I really liked this! The rice is a bit thicker here so it's not as crunchy compared to some other places but I think it worked really well with the tuna. Definitely will be getting this again. - Wagyu Kushikatsu- This was very tender and delicious!!! - Spicy Garlic Kazan- The presentation is pretty cool and unique. The broth gets poured into the bowl via a tea pot. The broth isn't as rich as some other ramen places and the noodles are thin noodles. I honestly would prefer getting ramen at other places like Jinya or Samurai Ramen. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes! read more

Early evening dinner with a small group. I ordered takoyaki and the chrirashi sashimi bowl. Both were quite good, and I was served a small cup of miso soup as well. The menu offered Sapporo beer on tap, but apparently they didn't have the equipment installed. Then a dinner companion got the last bottle of Sapporo they had. Stuff like this is really inexcusable. The parking in the building is a bit weird. I needed to park, then use my phone to enter a credit card for payment for 2 hours. Then inside the restaurant they enter a code from the app to reverse the payment. Next time I'll use MARTA, but I had an errand elsewhere in Buckhead that afternoon. read more

It was chilly in the restaurant. We didn't get drinks but the bar was pretty and delicately stocked with Japanese products (instead of your tacky and unwanted Jim Bean and Bacardi bottles). The menu looked great, lots of options. There was a sashimi combo plate that actually seemed like a great deal. Otherwise, slightly overpriced, but they can get away with it in this location I think. The sushi was good. I wouldn't say earth shattering. We ordered two rolls and the hotate scallop appetizer. I'm scallop lover so of course it was good! Our server was nice but not very attentive. We had to find and grab passing servers to get our order in fully. This was disappointing because while they were busy, it's a small establishment and our table was in a very convenient location for them to check on us. Have been waiting for this place to open. Visited yesterday and absolutely loved it. The decor is simple greenery and very nice. Greeted as soon as you enter the doors. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated upon arrival. We had already looked at the menu as we've been anticipating the opening. We love sushi and this did NOT disappoint. We stared off with a bottle of Riesling. For food we got: 2 Philly Rolls, Salmon Trinity, Kiss of Juju and the Nigiri Deluxe. The nigiri deluxe comes with 10 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll. Everything was absolutely amazing. Love love love salmon trinity and kiss of juju. Definitely my favorites and will be ordering every time we go. Paying was also super easy. Your receipt comes with a barcode that lets you pay straight from your phone. You can pay with Apple Pay or add any card you want to pay with. Loved that part too. A true contactless pay. This restaurant is by the same owners as Wagaya, and it shows. I'm happy to say that Nagomiya is essentially a better Wagaya. They have the exact same menu as Wagaya, but all their dishes are higher quality and more consistent. I've had pretty much everything on the menu, and the ramen + two is definitely my go-to. Having said that, Nagomiya loses a lot of points in my eyes for their "omakase" offering. Having had a lot of good omakase at many different price points, it is quite disappointing the cuts of fish that Nagomiya includes in their omakase. For $125, the quality of the pieces is extremely subpar. I feel that they should not offer omakase, or at least lower the price because it is definitely far below the quality of their other food. read more

The Yelp reviews are right, this place is great! Very delicious sushi, nice ambience in the restaurant, kind staff, quick service. Started with the bonsai cocktail which was refreshing. We ordered the spicy edamame, chicken nanban, mushroom truffle udon, Philly roll, treasure box roll, and devils breath roll. The treasure box came within a glass chamber since it was smoked and it held its Smokey taste. The devils breath is spicy and they torch the top of the roll when it gets to your table. Both were incredibly savory. The Philly roll is a classic and my boyfriend said the chicken nanban was delicious too. Didn't see a dessert menu but also didn't ask for any.
