Nagoya never disappoints. Their sushi is always really fresh and even their lunch special rolls are consistently a generous size. I enjoy eating in the restaurant as well as takeout.

Nagoya Sushi and Sashimi for 2
    Stephen L.

Classic sushi restaurant with solid quality sushi. I ordered the Nagoya Sushi and Sashimi for 2 ($58), Dinosaur Roll ($14), American Dream Roll ($15), and Two Flavor Caviar Roll ($14). I especially liked the Dinosaur Roll and American Dream Roll as the classic combo of eel and avocado was delicious. The sashimi was fresh and super soft to chew. I thought the sushi and sashimi were decent value. For dessert, I tried the Fried Banana with ice cream, which was about as you'd expect - pretty good. I also tried the Fried Cheesecake, which was great - fried on the outside and soft/melty on the inside. Tere is a decent amount of seating inside the restaurant. It is a part of a larger plaza with other restaurants, so there is a large parking lot out front, which is convenient. The staff are pretty friendly, but the service speed was a bit slow. Overall, Nagoya doesn't really have too many special options, but it is a solid option for sushi if you are in the Mahwah area.

    Nice water feature

Great spot. Good service. This seems like a real good and reliable Japanese spot. There was a nice water feature going on in the background which was calming. The food came out quick and tasty. It felt like a nice clean place. Would definitely go back

3x3 roll lunch special (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, squash, avocado cucumber)

I go here to eat frequently for lunch due to working nearby. The staff are polite and always looking to refill your tea/water. I suggest the 3 roll lunch special that comes with miso and salad. The sushi is always fresh and I never leave feeling stuffed. I ate here on my birthday and they brought out fried banana and a candle to celebrate! The little things like that will definitely have me coming back and prefer dining here over other sushi restaurants nearby. Please try this place and see for yourself! :)

    Dynamite Roll

Placed an order for pick up and was provided excellent service. Food was ready in 20 minutes neatly packed and ready for me. The restaurant did not up charge for credit card payment and the cashier helped to bring my food out to my car in 20 degree weather. She did not have a jacket on. The food was super fresh and huge generous slices of sashimi and the Dynamite roll was BOMB. Great prices did not compromise the quality or portions of the food. Sorry terrible pictures...food came first this time... then pics.

I think Nagoya has new management. I'm not sure but they have definitely gone down hill.

The portions are a good size and cooked to perfection. Chef John noticed that the ribeye portion for one of our party was too small so he had the kitchen bring out another cut and he cooked that up for him. They don't serve mustard sauce at the table- only ginger and yum sauce, but if you call ahead (and ask for Chef John) he can make it for you- and it's delicious. He's not the showiest of chefs but he has great skills and the food is delicious. Notes about the hibachi section- it is crowded, loud and can get hot. If you have sensory issues it's probably not the place for you. My adult daughter had to step out because of the noise and the crowd. But we come on weekend nights when it's the worst. Come off hours and you'll be fine. Chef John is the best!

Naru looked promising when we booked our party of three for a birthday dinner online, and the…read moreconfirmation call was pleasant. It's an intimate spot with only four teppanyaki tables, and we were seated promptly. My family has been going to hibachi for over 50 years to celebrate special occasions, so we know what to expect. Unfortunately, this visit was a total letdown. As is standard, we shared a table with another party--a family with three kids. Right away, there were red flags: the kids were hyped up on candy, spilling things, and spreading out so much that I was repeatedly bumped into and forced to eat off the edge of the table. Management and servers saw this unfolding but never intervened, even though they clearly knew the family. Then came our cook, "Chef John," and things went further downhill: Complete Lack of Engagement: Wearing a baseball cap instead of proper chef attire, Chef John spent the entire meal chatting with the other family (who were clearly regulars) while ignoring us like we weren't even there. No Showmanship: Teppanyaki is about the experience-- jokes, knife tricks, tossing shrimp, flipping eggs. Chef John did nothing beyond a single, basic onion volcano. Bland & Poorly Executed Food: The food lacked real flavor--no ginger or garlic, just heavy salt, pepper, and soy sauce. The steaks were hit-or-miss (the ribeye was moist, but the filet had dry sections), and seafood wasn't cut into bite-sized pieces for chopsticks. Order Snafu & Arguing: All three of us ordered steak and shrimp combos. He served full shrimp portions to two of us, but gave the third person only an appetizer portion. When we brought up the mistake--despite him confirming orders earlier--it turned into an uncomfortable debate over whether she was "entitled" to the rest of her meal. We eventually got the missing shrimp, but the damage was done. Between the chaotic table dynamic that staff ignored, zero entertainment, bland food, and having to argue for the food we ordered, it ruined a birthday celebration. I seriously doubt that we will be returning.

Solid local sushi spot with a chill vibe…read more Sushi and Sashimi Special ($75) - This party platter comes with 12 pieces of sushi, 18 pieces of sashimi, 6 piece spicy tuna naruto roll, and 6 piece california roll. I think it would be enough to feed 2 people, but if you have more than that, you probably want to order another roll or two. Everything here was pretty good. The fish seemed average freshness. The naruto roll was unique with cucumber around the outside, though the tuna was not really spicy. I specifically thought the sea bream (white fish) sashimi was good, as it had a creamy taste and consistency. Julie Roll ($15) - This roll was delicious, with a nice combo of yellowtail, salmon, and tuna in one roll. In addition, there was mango for some sweetness, avocado, and cucumber in there. It was topped with red fish eggs and had a soy wrapper around it, which made it a little unique. Beauty and Beast Roll ($15) - This is sort of a 2-in-1 roll, as half of the pieces have tuna on top and half have avocado on top. There is also shrimp tempura inside along with cucumber and eel. Another tasty roll. The restaurant has a very chill vibe inside. There were a couple others dining in as well for Sunday lunch. The staff are super friendly and even gave us a side of edamame on the house. The service speed was pretty quick. Overall, if you are in the mood for some sushi (either dining in or take-out), I think Nigiri Sushi would be a very good option, particularly if you are in the Franklin Lakes area.
