I canNOT believe what I have been missing!!! I tried the egusi soup with pounded yam and was literally floored by how good it was. I brought some home for my wife and kids and they all loved it. I've been back several times since. Unfortunately I NEVER see anyone in there so I hope they are getting enough service to stick around. I've had their jerk wings as well as their jollif rice and all of it is amazing. The restaurant itself is simple and the staff friendly.

Overall, I found the food to be very flavorful, well seasoned, and unique. My daughter and I actually ended up liking each other's meals more than our own, so we switched plates, which worked out well. We also ordered a few extra items, including wings and yams. The pounded yam was interesting and very different from anything I usually eat. It is probably not something I would go out of my way to order again, but I am glad I tried it and now understand a little better how it is eaten. The one disappointing part of the visit was the ordering experience. The young man who rang us up was polite, but he was unable to make any recommendations. He said he had been working there for about three months and still could not really suggest what to order. For someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this type of food, recommendations would have been very helpful. I would have appreciated some guidance on the most popular dishes, common choices, or what first-time customers usually enjoy. That said, the owner was extremely kind. She came out to our table, spoke with us, and helped explain how to eat some of the food we had ordered. I really appreciated that. She came across as a very sweet person, and based on her hospitality alone, I would come back to support the business. This style of food may not personally be my cup of tea or something I will crave often, but I respect the flavor, the care, and the local business behind it. I would give Bantu House four stars. It could have been closer to 3.5 for me personally, mostly because of the lack of ordering guidance, but the owner's kindness and the quality of the food pushed it to four.

When I woke up this morning and checked DoorDash it said that the order was picked up at 7:37pm and my card was charged $60, which is honestly too much for 2 soups and 2 appetizers. Also on top of that the location was sketchy, had no visible signage, and was dirty. Would not recommend this place at all if I could give negative stars I would.

I shared the fufu with egusi soup with stewed goat added, the Stewed Hen, Moin Moin, & Jollof Rice, and the meat pie with a friend and it was plenty for both of us. The fufu with egusi soup was super delicious with a spicy kick that I loved (7/10) . The plate was the star of the meal. Everything from the stewed hen, to the rice, to the greens were all so well seasoned and I truly enjoyed every bite (8.5/10). The meat pie was also delicious with a savory filling and the pastry was thick and buttery but surprisingly not overbearing considering the pastry to filling ratio (8/10). Overall the food was awesome and seemed quite authentic. Would definitely come back to support this small local business!

They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! Ms. Ade was helpful and took time to explain what was available to order. I personally did not plan on eating Amala because I usually do not like/eat it. My friend ended up ordering the Amala, of course, and I got the goat pepper soup with a side of rice. To my lovelyyyyy surprise I ended up eating the Amala with my friend because IT. WAS. DELICIOUS! While ordering I did mention that I don't like/eat Amala and Ms. Ade confidently stated that if I ate theirs, I would enjoy. I'm so glad she was right. Easily a 9.5 out of 10. Our only critique was that it could've had a bit more meat. But the portion was great. We were even full and had some leftover. (no amala photos taken because we demolished it lol, a reason to go see/experience it for yourself) I did eat some of my pepper soup and it indeed was pepper-ish. Although it was yummy, it was a bit too much for my liking. I would recommend for those who have a very high spice tolerance. Ended up spending a little over $55 but highly worth it due to taste, portion size and service :) Would absolutely recommend and would revisit to order Amala that I used to not even eat lol.

AFTER SPENDING ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WEEKEND MOVING OUR THINGS, I AND MY HUSBAND AND MY BROTHER AND HIS FIANCEE WERE EXTREMELY HUNGRY AROUND 8 P.M. AFTER NOT EATING ALL DAY. I go on doordash and see this restaurant. Of course, being Nigerian, we wanted good Nigerian food and there aren't many that are offered on doordash nor did we have the strength to make any NAIJA dishes at 8p.m. at night. So, we ordered our food for dishes... Okra soup, vegetable soup, jollof rice and another okra soup. My order was complete and processed around 8:19 pm. We go drive to get some water to pass the time and an hour had exhausted... Well, an hour and like 5 minutes... WHICH they said my order would be ready at 9:19. A lady calls shouting (Yoruba for whispering) asking if I was who I was and then further proceeded to tell me that our order had not been fulfilled yet... I'm looking puzzled like... What EXACTLY does that mean... And after I asked for clarification she has the AUDACITY to tell me that not only has the order not been fulfilled, the order had not even been MADE yet... As innnnnnnnnnm... Not even MADE. THIS IS OVER AN HOUR LATER AND THE ORDER HAD NOT EVEN BEEN STARTED YET. if you think that didn't have audacity written all over it already... They further had the NERVE to ask me to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes to an HOUR for my order. Now come on... if you know what HUNGER does... Then surely you know what being hangry does to somebody. And I'm the POSTER child of HANGER. P I. S. S. E. D. That word does not even describe the HEAT that was coming from my body. BECAUSE OF THE RED THAT WAS SHOWING IN MY EYES... We opted for some pizza... (even though I'm lactose intolerance and really can't have white bread...) Just so I can have SOMETHING in my belly... I will... I repeat and EMPHATICALLY... I will NEVER order from this restaurant EVER again in LIFE and I will LITERALLY advise ANYONE that I know and love to NEVER do so. (IT'S ONLY AAAAAAAFTERWARDS THAT MY HUSBAND TOLD ME HE TRIED TO ORDER FROM THIS PLACE BEFORE AND IT TOOK THEM 2 HOURS AND 45 MINUTES TO FULFILL HIS ORDER... SMH LIFE!) it's a shame.

It had so much flavor in it mmmm! My husband loved his goat meat he didn't leave behind a single thing, cleaned the whole plate...at his fufu and then some of mine. Service/ambiance: They are the sweetest people you'll ever meet. It was obvious we didn't know anything about the menu and several people approached us to help us get something they think we would like. Didn't even feel like we were eating out but instead eating at a friend's or family's house. We went a bit late so I think people were getting off work and it was clear that this place feels like home for everyone because they were coming just to hang out and eat. From the minute I walked in, I knew that the odds would most likely be in my favor. First of all there are two huge portraits of the female proprietess and her husband flanking the cash register, in full Asante regalia. Which totally made me feel like I was in someone's living room looking at their mantle, versus at a restaurant. But it added a touch of culture and a huge sense of pride. There was a older man waiting for food, staring at the big screen tv, DANCING to the music. This is a great sign! Do you know how good this food is about to be, because I do, if it makes Papa DANCE!!! Oh yeah, I was getting excited. There was a fridge stocked FULL TO THE BRIM and spilling over onto the floor of every soda, both American and African, plus several types of beer. To me this read as "yup, you gone be thirsty after this FIYAHHHHHH"! And they weren't wrong! My food came out piping hot, relatively quickly, and paired with warm water for hand washing! Not every African restaurant is this traditional, so I again, knew it was about to go down!!!!! I would get into a lengthy description of the groundnut soup but that would waste more of your time reading, instead of driving, STRAIGHT TO Afrikiko!!! I will say that the side of spinach that I requested was so smooth and tomatoey and robust with flavor, that I was thoroughly surprised. I was expecting just a side of sautéed spinach, maybe a bit of onion or garlic, but that damn spinach was soooooo good I almost licked the bowl. If I could give 10 stars I would! This place will make me drive from Dallas yall! And you should too! Worth every single penny I spent! Thanks Afrikiko!
