Chicken, Jollof Rice, Spinach, and Plantain.

Food: I informed my waiter that it was my first time visiting their restaurant. He came out with a little sampler for me and OMG, everything was so good! It was difficult to decide what I wanted. I went ahead and ordered Chicken, Jollof Rice, Spinach, Plantain, and ginger/pineapple juice. The chicken was a little tough but seasoned perfectly. I can drink the juice every single day. Service: Since it was my first time visiting OlaTee African Cafe, I didn't know what to expect. I did Google the restaurant an made a reservation a half an hour a before my arrival. According to what I found on Google, a reservation needed to be made. I arrived and waited for a bit and I quickly realized a reservation was not needed. I seated myself before my waiter approached me. He was initially attentive and thorough. The attention dropped off later on but no big deal. Atmosphere: The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and spacious. There was music playing which I absolutely loved (not too loud and not too low). I almost jumped out of my chair to dance until I remembered I was in pain, lol

Jollof Rice with beef and Plaintains. It was excellent. Very Very good.

Please note I ordered delivery from this restaurant. I did not eat at the restaurant. I wanted an elderly relative from out of town to Sample African food and I purchased Egusi Soup and FuFu and Jollof Rice with beef and Efo Riro. The verdict. The food was excellent. It was flavored well and had the right spice. It was made fresh. Everything was delicious. Only CON. The only con I would have was regarding the Egusi. These people have the Egusi literally submerged in Palm Oil. I've never seen such a large amount of oil sitting on top of the Egusi as I did when I ordered it for the second day straight. Also, the portion sizes from the first day I ordered the Egusi to the second day were way different. It frustrated me so much my relative advised me never to order again from the restaurant. The Portion sizes need to be consistent especially when someone is paying over $20 for their meal. The man answering the phone was helpful throughout my ordering however on this issue he was a bit dismissive. He told me they put two spoonfuls of egusi in the bowl but I definitely recieved much less the second day. I have pictures so you can see.

Both good and bad...Ordered DoorDash from this place. Food came fast and hot. Fufu was amazing. Soups were the perfect amount of spicy and lots of flavor. In saying this I couldn't get past the smell of a farm coming from the bowls. Both soups had a "gamey" flavor and smell. Like I licked the hoof of a cow. I really liked the goat pepper soup if it didn't have the overpowering farm animal flavor in it. I don't know if the meat was just "old" or if they always taste like this. I would love to try the goat pepper soup without the farm animal flavor. Palm wine was good but tasted like watered down yogurt with a hint of vinegar. I will try this place again for sure because I really want to like it and hope it was just an "off" experience.

The food is delicious and the service is nice. I enjoy coming here. The ambience is cool and inviting. This is my new favorite spot.

The customer service was absolutely amazing! They were so nice and friendly and going above and beyond giving us the best experience. They let us sample some of their items before purchasing. It was VERY clean on the inside and smelt amazing. The interior was super nice and welcoming. I will definitely be going here again!

Beef was fatty and tough. The beef to the left is after I took all of the fat off the meat to atleast get something edible.

Please go somewhere else for African Food. One star for the clean bathrooms. This place serves food cafeteria food style,l. Walked in yesterday, with two people in front of me, the only gentleman working there seem to forget there were two people still waiting to be served, he continued to socialize with the customer at the register for almost 5 mins after she paid for her food. When he got to me he was very short and not friendly. I got the half order of jollof rice and half beef price. Only two pieces of beef that were later tough and fatty and he charged me $5.50 for two ladles of stew! Will never be back. Way better quality African food restaurants.

Container for take out Amala, ewedu and gbegiri.

I ordered on uber eats. The food was good. I'd give it a 3. I think the stew could have been better. The serving was big and the meat was also quite big.

Went here for the first time recently. The owner is nice and the customer service is good. Here's what i tried: Egusi soup Okra soup Fufu This is in north Houston as opposed to most Nigerian spots being in southwest Houston.

Inside of Olatee Cafe Love the layout and culture all around. Very clean and nice staff,

The service was great, place is very clean and shows culture all around. I'd like to say the older photos don't do it justice.

Exceptional service, the food was incredible (super spicy for the spicy lovers!) & the ambiance was very nice :-) thank you for helping us find the right dishes for our first time!!

My first time having African food and when I tell you this food is fire I mean that this food is FIREEEEE!!!! Of course I got the egusi soup, fufu, jollof rice and for my meats I got chicken and beef! The food was so flavorful and I enjoyed it so much that I can definitely see myself craving it! Although everything that I had was delicious my favorite thing was the egusi and fufu. I seriously can't wait to go back! I'm really happy that my friend visiting introduced me to African food and especially to this spot in particular!

They always have a sample of the Golden Bowl for anyone to taste & it's absolutely my go to dish. All the ingredients work well together in this Golden Bowl. The chicken, jollof rice, veggies, the sweet of the plantain with the spice in the curry makes for a delightfully seasoned bowl. I will admit the spice made my nose run but yet I would only describe it as a "subtle" spicy dish. One day I'll try another dish but for now. That golden bowl speaks to me everytime. I had leftovers & even the next day my taste buds got happy all over again! Never had Nigerian West African food or had it somewhere else, try it here, it's delightful!! From the minute I walked in, I knew that the odds would most likely be in my favor. First of all there are two huge portraits of the female proprietess and her husband flanking the cash register, in full Asante regalia. Which totally made me feel like I was in someone's living room looking at their mantle, versus at a restaurant. But it added a touch of culture and a huge sense of pride. There was a older man waiting for food, staring at the big screen tv, DANCING to the music. This is a great sign! Do you know how good this food is about to be, because I do, if it makes Papa DANCE!!! Oh yeah, I was getting excited. There was a fridge stocked FULL TO THE BRIM and spilling over onto the floor of every soda, both American and African, plus several types of beer. To me this read as "yup, you gone be thirsty after this FIYAHHHHHH"! And they weren't wrong! My food came out piping hot, relatively quickly, and paired with warm water for hand washing! Not every African restaurant is this traditional, so I again, knew it was about to go down!!!!! I would get into a lengthy description of the groundnut soup but that would waste more of your time reading, instead of driving, STRAIGHT TO Afrikiko!!! I will say that the side of spinach that I requested was so smooth and tomatoey and robust with flavor, that I was thoroughly surprised. I was expecting just a side of sautéed spinach, maybe a bit of onion or garlic, but that damn spinach was soooooo good I almost licked the bowl. If I could give 10 stars I would! This place will make me drive from Dallas yall! And you should too! Worth every single penny I spent! Thanks Afrikiko!
