I brought my color.." - and even after I ask "why are you putting that white gel on my nails - is that like a base for my color?" - a few more questions & continous application of unwanted white gel - "when are you going to apply my color?" - not only did I get schellaced nails I didn't want, the acrylic application was thick & misshapen, & she swiped my card so fast for $45 my head spun! "Really?! You're going to charge me for what I didn't want & what I expressed to you I hated?!" Went in with my sister a few days ago. A friend gets her nails done here and they look great, so when I wanted to try out acrylics I decided to try this place. Well, she must have gotten lucky with her nails because mine came out HORRIBLE. From reading other reviews, it seems the only man who works there is the owner, and he was the one who did my acrylics, then a woman applied the gel. When they told him I wanted acrylics, he seemed irritated that he had to do it, and was obviously rushing and giving off a pissed off vibe the whole time. After he (sloppily) applied the tips, he never asked what shape I wanted. I spoke up and asked for a pointed almond. He rolled his eyes and acted like it was stupid of me to want that. He asked "are you sure you want that? Do you have a friend that has that?" In this way that insinuated I didn't know what I wanted and that put me off. The tips are uneven and the glue is all over the place. Then the woman who did my gel polish did it VERY sloppily. Seriously, it looks like I did it at home! I had half a mind to get my money back but after reading some other reviews it seems they don't take kindly to complaints. Won't go here again. read more

I'd give the ambiance of this place two thumbs up and also the massage chairs were really good. I honestly didn't want to get up when it was over. I will say that the lady doing my toes nicked me a few times with the tiny scissors...ouch! But accidents happen and I am not going to hold it against them. Van, I couldn't agree more! Maybe it's a Houston thing, but I've never had a more lackluster pedi in my life! It felt as though my 9yr old niece could have done a better job! The guy with the really cool grey hair did mine & I don't know which was worse... The shotty pedi or his weak excuses for his poor job. He barely touched my cuticles, partially buffed my heels with the pumice stone, & completely ignored my pinky corn! Lol Not to mention, when I called him out on his lassitude, he began to get really rough with handling my feet! I'm typing as I'm sitting in the chair bc I'm so annoyed! I just wanted 2 relax, now I'll need a glass of wine after all that! Needless to say, I'll wait until I get back to Houston 2 get my shellac mani! Sloppy work on regular pedi and shellac mani. Crooked nails, polish around the cuticle, streaks in the polish, nail tech did not scrub calluses, etc. Went back the next day per the manager to "fix", just as sloppy results. OH! and didn't get offered any water, tea, wine, etc., like the other patrons. Definitely over priced for the service. I should've checked their reviews before going in there. To preface this review: I am a teacher and can't afford to get my nails done often. It is a super special treat. I have been coming to Nail Bar for about four years, but I think I am done coming here. I was treated so poorly today and my nails look awful to boot. My first tech took 45 minutes just to get some tips on, didn't notice when she had done one incorrectly, and then left me sitting for about 8 minutes. Suddenly Tech #2 showed up, no explanation, nothing. He hastily began applying the acrylic powder, where he also made several sloppy mistakes, even when I pointed then out. My nails are badly shaped and sloppily painted, and yes, first world problems, but I am so sad! On top of poor quality- a set of acrylic nails with regular polish took almost an hour and 45 minutes... As I said getting my nails done is a really special treat, and I am so disheartened by my experience today (and the last few visits haven't been great either). I don't know what has happened at Nail Bar, but I guess I need to find a new salon. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place. I went last week and paid the usual $25 for a pedicure, like most of the other nail places in the Arboretum. They don't do a foot or leg massage, but did offer me a beverage. I mostly said "ouch" as the kind lady butchered my toenails and cut my cuticles, it was really painful. And, she did a crappy paint job. It's a treat for me to get a pedicure, and this was no treat. I do a better job myself at home. It's too bad, because they have nice decor. I was the only person in there at lunchtime on a Tuesday, which isn't a good sign. read more

I will be honest, there was a little voice inside telling me "TELL THE TRUTH", so I started reading all the reviews and came to the same conclusion, not so good I will stick to y Regal Nails at Walmart on 620! Yes the decor is nice and it is a different experience sitting at the bar for a manicure.But that didn't make a difference after 2 days one nail was broken(my natural nail) so this due to the fact that they did a bad filing. The lady who did my mani was nice, everybody else including the owner very rude, no "HI". I hate it when all of them start speaking vietnamese it is so annoying... I'm hispanic(a proud one) but you are in the U.S. speak english please!!! I owned a Salon and Spa back home for 9 years, attitude is so important, friendly and professional staff is a must. Hmm, this is a tough one. We went in for pedicures but I can't say it was a great experience. There was nobody else there which struck me as odd since they have probably 20 open chairs. My toenails would have looked better if I'd done them myself. I was also dismayed to feel how scraped up and rough my feet were AFTER the pedicure. They weren't like that before I went in. I had a very rude nail tech. I think he is also the owner. He did a sloppy job on my nails. I got a shellac manicure, and my nails began chipping the same day. My manicure did not even last 24 hours. I use to like this place I'm so upset, I asked them FOR A WAX AND ALMOST CAME OUT WITH NO EYEBROWS! BEWARE!! Then they left hairs on my lips and chin! My eyebrows were awful ... I know there not always perfect but mine were pretty close, not anymore! Plus she started doing more than what I asked her too then charged me for it when it was her doing! It's also hard to communicate with them, I don't mine getting my nails done there because I love the place but I was disappointed because I drive way over there from Round Rock. I found the service to be attentive and friendly, the prices were in line with similar spots, and the decor and ambience was really nice. I tried. Last time I went to chi nails, I asked a friend to join me because I like the place; it's clean, most of the staff WAS nice, it's quiet. But last time I went it was awful. I had my cuticles cut to short on multiple nails which made me jump and bleed. She was rude about it; Rolling her eyes at me. I was embarrassed that I'd brought my friend with me! It was horrible service, all around, and I felt pretty disappointed. I gave it time, went back today (3 months later) thinking maybe it was just a bad day, last time. I was sitting in my chair for a mani/ pedi for thirty minutes and no one came to do my services. I just left & I won't go back. It would have helped if they'd let me know when I walked in, "hey, could be a little wait." Nope, nothing...just a long wait. Bad service, no respect for my time and hurting me? I have only myself to blame. I read all of the posts here on yelp, yet I still went with high hopes...destined for a relaxing lunch break with an enjoyable glass of wine. Apparently the only reason they call it a "bar" is because you sit on stools around a counter that is tall enough to be a bar. They taunt you with hanging wine glasses and proudly display wine bottles that will never be served. I got a manicure and was in and out within 30 minutes. My cuticles are dry and cracked, my nails are a bit jagged on the edges and there is even a little bit of polish on my skin. There was no talking except for when she asked me to pay before she painted my nails. The one thing I did like was that there was no loud television soap opera reruns or foregin language programming on the television. All-in-all, the relaxing music that was playing in the background set me up for a most disappointing experience and I promise to take your yelp posts a little more seriously in the future. ;-) read more

My experience have been fantastic! I love this Nail bar. It's different than your usual mani/pedi places. You can actually sit at a bar while your mani dries and sip a glass of wine! 2 walls of colors, Essie and OPI. Been several times and always had pleasant customer service and lasting polish. They are very accomodating and the massage chairs are brand new. I like the cloud mural on ceiling and the lotions smell yummy. Friendly and pricing is same as others. Give it a try! read more

I came in today for solar nails and the honey, milk and paraffin treatment pedicure. Chrystal was the one who worked on me and she was amazing. Very kind and thorough plus she made sure I was happy with everything before I left. I will only go here and she's the only one I'll use. She's the best I couldn't have asked for more. read more

Came to get a mani/pedi and was not impressed. When trimming the cuticles on my big toes the girl cut too deep on not one but two toes making both of them bleed and only stopped the pressure after I let out an " ow!". She then proceeded to massage my legs by digging into my shins with her hands. I have gotten pedicures fairly regularly for years and have never been in pain during one! During my manicure she filed my nails and gave me paper cuts on 3 nails from filing into my skin!!! Then proceeded to spray alcohol to clean my nails- umm can you say BURN! Overall a horrible experience there are too many great nail salons for me to ever return to this one. Getting nails done should never be a painful experience! For a similar price point I would go to Super star nails on W. anderson or Nails on 183/ Spicewood springs. Side note: my mother was with me when I went and got a set of acyllics put on- it took 2 hours! Ridiculous! read more

Great Hills location Very disappointed in their refusing to honor a gift certificate for $40 that was given to me. It says that it expires 6 months from the date of issue, due to my husband being diagnosed with cancer and going through grueling chemo I didn't get in within the 6 months. They keep the $40, no services- not good business. I went in when there was one customer, girls were sitting around with no customers- they missed a generous tip. I will make sure to share this rude behavior when I'm asked for a referral for a nail salon. Good business would be to allow one year to use a gift certificate. read more

The first time I came here for a full set it was just okay. There was a glue situation and she kept getting stuck to me. When I came back for a refill, Loan helped me and she was awesome. She kept asking me if things were okay, the length, shape, etc. she really listened to me and my nails never looked better. read more

Came in for just a manicure not too long ago and asked if they had time. They said yes but then the woman rushed through my manicure, did not put enough layers of shellac, and did a pretty bad job that only lasted a few days. Normally shellac manicure lasts me weeks. The man doing the woman's nails next to me seemed to do a great job. He was friendly. I think it was the owner, but hope not as he sat their and allowed the service I had. I didn't have an appointment but stopped in as a walk-in last week after work for a pedicure. Everyone was so nice and although they were busy helping other customers, they got me seated in a massage chair right away so I could start enjoying that. I got the classic pedicure ($25) and was very pleased, she did such a good job and took care making sure the water was the right temperature and the hot towel wasn't too hot. Okay so I've been going downtown to get my nails done for the last two years and my favorite tech Paige left and came here. I took my Mom today and it was wonderful. Maria took care of my Mom and Paige took Care of me. The place is nice and clean and the people are very nice. Prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. Indulgent is something I don't normally have the time to participate in, but even the most down-to-earth girls like me need a moment or two to relish in the sheer girliness of being a girl. My Mom and just happened to stumble on Chi NB&S during an Arboretum area shopping trip. We walked in and were kindly greeted and asked to pick our color. We were ushered to beautifully decorated surroundings, featuring calming harp music, glittering chandeliers, cloud breezy sky paintings on the ceiling and carefully chosen comfy massage chairs. Smiling technicians offered us a glass of wine and set our chairs in motion. Mom and I chose the $60 pedicure because it's my birthday and there is no price on a great birthday treat. After an hour of total pedi pampering, I lost track of time. The rubbing and kneading of both feet and back and the delicious not-to-dry white wine allowed me to slip into total relaxation. No pain. No tickling. No mistaken deep-cuticle cutting. Just a perfect pedicure. I cannot count how many layers of treats and luxury went on my feet. Delightful smells and scrubs and warm towels and paraffin and more lotions and more warm towels. My feet could've done the jog by themselves without my body they were so invigorated. Mom and I walked away feeling pampered and relaxed. This is a grown woman's pedi place. If you're there for a quicky 45 minute ped and can't stay off your cell phone (RUDE! You know who you are - you got the stink eye from me twice - hang up and let us relax!!!) or you need to get a quick ped so you can get out on the town - this is not the place for you! My manicurist cut me three times and was hard on scraping my nails. I left feeling battered. To top it off, I was charged three times!!!

I don't normally leave reviews, but I need to get my experience out to others. I recently got married. I had planned on just getting a regular gel manicure before the wedding because my nails were at a pretty length. However a few days before the wedding both of my thumb nails broke. I decided to splurge and have tips put on my thumbs so that I could keep the pretty length of the rest of my nails. I had my tips and manicure done at a salon in Georgia, by the way. Fast forward to yesterday when I was finally ready to have the tips removed. I went into the Arboretum location to have my color (that they had done a great job of a few weeks ago) and the tips from the other salon removed. The gentleman who helped me, who was not the owner, seemed surprised that I wanted to have them removed and that I didn't want color. He sets my nails to soak under acetone soaked cotton balls and then proceeded to scrape the old polish off. I guess the polish was being stubborn, so he decides to bring out his DRILL and proceeds to drill the polish off my nails. And in order to get the tips off, he first tries prying them off with his fingernail. That didn't work, she he grabbed another acrylic nail from the back and attempts to shimmy my false nail off with it. This didn't work either. So then he takes the drill and drills the fake nail off. In the course of doing this, he drills into the nail bed to the point where it hurts me. My nail has nooks and crannies from where he drilled it unevenly. And he didn't even get the whole fake nail off. And to top it all off, he used a rough file on the rest of my nails so that all ten of them look scratched and rough. It was the worst experience of my life and I don't think I will ever go to get my nails done ever again. I might even go try to get my money back. TL;DR A technician almost drilled through my natural nail to the flesh in an attempt to remove a false nail. Beware, they will hurt you and not feel bad about it. read more

While there today, I enjoyed talking with another customer who has done the same thing! (We both drive a considerable distance to do this) Nowhere have I ever received such excellent and consistently good mani/pedis, thus the reason I have gone out of my way to continue with this family. read more

Four days out and nails are chip and lifting not to mention I was not pleased to begin with the nails to begin with. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE job! Any experience nail tech would have done a better job. I had a bad feeling to begin with when I got there but decided to try it out. BAD IDEA I did call later that day to tell the nail tech I was not happy with the work and she asked if I wanted to come back, NO ! Why would I go back to get more bad work done. The work was rushed. The acrylic was grainy, eek. I also did not like the guy walking around keeping tabs on the females! First of all, I don't like a place that has cameras in every corner of the salon. The monitor I saw was up in front by the register and had six different screen shots of the salon!!!! Watch out if you go... I gave it one star because it looks nice and the female who did my pedicure was sweet. Other than that, the full nail set job was horrible and the price was too much for the job done. I am one not to complain and can't even believe I am writing a bad review but this is how upset I am about the nail job. I am going in tomorrow to my regular nail place and I can almost hear my nail tech getting on to me for the horrible job. NEVER EVER will I visit the place. read more

First time I went in for a shellac manicure, I left happy and my nails looked great and actually lasted for 3 weeks. Went back in for a 2nd shellac manicure and sadly had a different nail girl. To put it nicely, she butchered my cuticles. She was pressing them back so hard that it made 4 fingers on one hand bleed! I was really trying not to cause a scene, and I believe in paying for the service, even if I wasn't happy... but I will NEVER go back there! I'm not sure if she even knew how to groom cuticles since she was so abrasive. She never spoke to me once and didn't apologize for hurting me. It's sad that you can get 1 bad person and it makes the entire business look like a sham. The nails themselves look fine, if you can see past my bloody cuticles. I would not advise anyone use this nail spa. After seeing the bad reviews on here, it's a miracle they are still in business. read more
