I've tried Nail Cafe many times since new ownership but am not impressed with the level of service. The ladies that have been with the salon under old management are awesome but the vibe is different. I currently have a nice young mine doing my pedicure but does not really know how to do it. I've been coming here for 10+ years but this will be my last visit. Everything is just so different but not in a good way. I wish the new owner luck. read more

Went here after having bad luck at another local Apex salon and the same thing happened! Paid extra for gel on my nails which have always lasted a month. They lasted just barely a week and the polish started coming up. The newest salon I've gone to said it's because they're painting them wrong. Not great. Appointment started 10 minutes late, but the real issue is the quality of the gel manicure. Multiple bubbles in the polish, uneven application on the sides, and streaks of color on my fingers. Also the polish starts too far up on the nail. I won't be returning. read more

I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. Last time I had my nails done by Nail Cafe they were amazing. This time the experience was completely opposite. It was my birthday so this was a nail/girl time gift from my Mother who came along with me. She was getting a Pedicure and I wanted a Full Set. Upon sitting down the lady I had seemed very sweet, but I knew right away she had no idea how to do my nails after I showed her a picture. Almond shape. The girl working next to her finished her client and then showed her the shape to do mine. Instead of doing it herself she still let the other lady do my nails. My Mother who was sitting to my left got the Deluxe Pedicure with Paraffin wax. I work with wax everyday and I could tell by looking at it that it was extremely hot. It's melting degree was completely over the normal as it was a clear purple. Anytime I've used Paraffin it was a creamy color. Still they made my Mother stick her foot into it. She kept telling them it was too hot but the lady didn't understand her and my nail lady and a younger girl were laughing at her. Completely unprofessional in my opinion. My Mother has a health disorder that makes her skin sensitive and inflamed. I didn't find it very funny. My nails came out looking like eggs and were way larger than my nail beds. Some were rounded and some were boxy on the top which I even pointed out to her. End conclusion is I will not return here. I should have gone to somewhere else after hearing other bad reviews but last time they were great so decided to try them again. I'm happy other people are having great experiences with them and I hope you continue to do so. read more

I called around 6:45 hoping to get a manicure. They close at 7 but said that if I show up within the next 5-10 minutes I could get a manicure. I got in and the place is clean, neat, organized and smells fresh instead of like a typical salon (chemical smell). There was absolutely no pushing and shoving for upgrades like acrylics or gel nails, or even shellac polish. This made me feel much more comfortable and I opted myself to try the shellac polish because I've never done it before and I've heard great things about it. Let me back up: my nails were trimmed and filed perfectly. Nothing crooked and my nails actually all matched. This seems to be a rarity when I get manicures. My cuticles were trimmed perfectly, the hand massage felt great, the sugar scrub made my hands smell like citrus and then came the shellac part. They have rows and rows of color options and brand types (OPI and CND are the two I remember off hand): I picked a glittery-pink color, the application process was simple and easy. My nails still look great and should last for around 2 weeks. read more

I've been here twice now, and I have to say, for someone who is use to having everything available to her in a 5 block radius, the 25 minute drive is completely worth it. I stumbled upon Nail Cafe while looking for another highly recommended mani/pedi place in Apex. (Sometimes these strip malls all start to look the same). I walked in and realized they were about to close in 15 minutes, and asked for a quick color change due to timing. They told me not to worry and to get whatever I wanted. I got a full mani pedi and they did not rush me at all. Even though at one point they were closing up shop and I got up to leave. They insisted i wait until my nails were really dry. It was so nice to get such awesome service, really 100% by them. The color stayed longer than other places I have tried, and prices are comparable. (Plus the massage chairs actually work!) read more

To begin, I went in for this pedicure because I tend to get a lot of excess skin on the bottoms of my feet. I was expecting for the skin to be removed. During my pedicure the man massaging my feet would tickle the bottom of my foot and then stare at me to see me laugh. It was very uncomfortable and he kept asking me to come back the next day. also the man cut my big toe but not before applying acetone, which burned like a mother fu*****r. None of the skin on the bottoms of my feet was removed and the man also accidentally put his palm down on my wet polish and then just went over the mistake. The pedicure looked messy, I felt very awkward, and the problem I went in for was not fixed. Overall a very strange and disappointing visit. read more

I showed up here after going to three other nail salons that were closed on a Sunday. I asked for coffin shaped nails and she told me she wasn't gonna make them too long so I could adjust to the difference which was fine except then she proceeded to tell me AFTER she glued my nails on that it would be difficult for her to do coffin style nails. Which is absurd because I've gotten short acrylics and had coffin style but she didn't even make these remotely straight at the top. She was nice and friendly but she did not give me what I asked for and then whoever actually put my nails on and dipped them were two different ladies. I told the lady who was dipping my nails to fix them and she told me she would in the end. This is what I ended up with (first picture) and when I told her I wanted them fixed before I left she made them worse (second picture) and with attitude. I created an account just to make this review. But the third picture is at Paris Nail Bar in Raleigh. I went in there and told Steven that another salon messed up my nails and he fixed them as much as he could but still better than any of the other pictures. So go there! And not nail cafe. read more

I used to come here regularly since it is so close to my house but I'm throwing in the towel on this place! Ive has it with the attitude from the owner. Recently got the worst fill in ever here. She didn't polish all the way up to my cuticle. The polish started like 1/4 of the way down my nail! My nails looked like I needed a fill in already and I'd just had them done!!! Then, when I asked if she could fix that she said, " oh you want me to paint all the way to your skin"? I'm like, "well, yeeeees, it looks like I need a fill in already!" I could see the half moon of my cuticle the gap was so wide! Her whole demeanor changed after that and she became sulky and quit talking to me. Childish! Also, they're SUPER thick like bubble nails and really bumpy and uneven. Plus, there's paint all in the cracks that she didn't bother to get out, and she didn't even paint the tips or sides. Look at the pictures I took. You can see the red nail polish I had on previously showing through! Ugh! So messy and unprofessional. There's a lot of choices of places to get your nails done. This was my first ever manicure and pedicure, so I had no idea what to expect. Overall the salon was very clean and everyone seemed very friendly. I generally have dirty hands from my job as a mechanic and they did a great job getting my nails nice and clean for my vacation. Have been here several times, but after my pedicure this week, I will NEVER go back. The nail tech was rude, rushed (was done in 30 minutes and really I couldn't wait to get out of the place) and the worst part, very rough. My feet are still sore 2 days later. At one point, I told her I was not enjoying the pedicure and she asked why and I told her that she was being too rough. (That didn't help.) For me, pedicures are a treat and should be relaxing. I regularly go in to Nail Cafe for Mani/Pedis and always leave happy no matter which nail tech I see. The prices are very reasonable. I've been charged $20+ more for the same service and results at other salons. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5.. is because I wish they had their gel/shellac colors painted on sample swatches so they can be easily seen. Currently you have to go through and open each of the bottles to see what the color looks like. Also, if you use a credit or debit card, they do not allow you to add gratuity. You need to have cash on hand which is slightly inconvenient because I rarely carry cash with me. read more

I should start by saying that I have never had my nails/toe nails done at this location. I have gone in for a waxing. I have gone to this location on countless times because it is convenient to my house. I always get my eyebrows waxed. The prices are about the same as everywhere else and the staff is knowledgeable. The last time I went in for a wax the lady asked me if I was interested in having my eyebrows threaded instead. I tried and now am hooked. Threading does not hurt much more than waxing and lasts longer. I was so impressed that the lady asked me about threading because she actually lost money on the deal. When I went to pay I found out that threading is actually cheaper. I will continue going to this location! I actually think I should make an appointment soon. read more

I am not one to write bad reviews because I understand that mistakes happen but this place was just awful. After reading reviews my sisters and I decided to give this place a try. The girl that greeted us was great and made excellent color recommendations and is the only reason this place even gets one star. However, the lady that did my pedicure was awful. I'm not a person with sensitive skin or anything so when I wince because it's hurting me it's because someone is really messing up. Several times I told her while cutting my cuticles that she was hurting me but instead of even a sorry she kept going to the point that she drew blood on two of my toes. Still no apology. Then she burnt me during the paraffin and told me this is how it is and gave me attitude. I was like no it's too hot and instead of taking it off she kept rubbing my feet in it making it unbearable to the point wear I had to take it off myself at which point she got mad at me. Like I said, sometimes things happen but you have to own up to your mistake and apologize. She was clearly upset with me so she did an awful job painting my nails and when she was done she goes "no manicure." I initially said I wanted one when I walked in but yes lady no manicure from you. In need of a quick brow wax this afternoon while the hubby was home with the baby, I popped in Nail Cafe in the Lowe's Foods shopping center at Olive Chapel Rd & Hwy 55. My neighbor has had numerous good experiences there so I figured it was worth a shot (especially after my less than stellar experience at European Wax Center and inability to find a "regular spot" to get my brows waxed in Apex). My eyebrows are light and grow back quickly so I'm not very picky when it comes to a brow wax but price and service are pretty important to me. I walked in Nail Cafe at about 5pm and walked out at about 5:10 with a good brow wax. No complaints in regards to the price or service. The lady that did the waxing was very quiet but quick and efficient and only charged me $8! That's half the price you pay 2 minutes away at European Wax Center and during my one experience at the Wax Center, I had to wait about 10 minutes and I felt she could've taken more off when doing my brow wax. It definitely wasn't worth paying twice as much (if I hadn't used a coupon, I believe it would have been $16). Needless to say, I will definitely be back to Nail Cafe for my next brow wax! read more

Hannah was very nice and did a little bit of extra scrubbing and massaging when I asked her to, she's got magic hands and gives a mean massage! I would say my friends and I's experience was nothing short of awful. My regular nail salon was closed for Easter weekend, but my friends and I still wanted to get our nails done; Therefore we ended up here. As walk-ins, we were seated immediately which was great, but the customer service and overall experience were painful. I have multiple cuts on my hands from their intense filing, and I experienced a lot of pain as they buffed my acrylics. I had to continually ask for changes because they were not looking at all as I had wanted between being misshapen and having too much of the cement piling on my nails. I might not be a nail tech, but I have never had nails so thick, but after repeating I wanted it filed down more I received backlash upon my request, which was rude considering I asked nicely and only wanted my nails to look as they should. As for my friends, they also did not like the quality of their manicures complaining of different nail shapes and also having a painful experience during budding and filing. This was the quickest pedicure I have ever received. If you want to feel like you are being rushed out the door, this is your place. Our appointments were scheduled over a month in advance and we should have been the last appointments for the day. People kept coming in the door and they kept taking them. I was done in 30 minutes and asked to get up from the chair (so much for group pedicures). Even though our appointments (there were 4 of us) were at the same time, no one finished close. The person doing one of my friends kept getting up to take care of the people walking in the door.
