$20 to take off polish + buff & shine is absurd, especially when I specified up front that I didn't want a full mani, didn't need polish, and was only interested in polish removal and the buff and shine. Expected to pay $10-12 tops, was told I needed to pay $15 for full mani service plus $5 for buff & shine. Very nice place with friendly staff. Linda did a great job on my pedicure. Maya did my pink fill and gel polish. They take their time and take pride in their work which is refreshing. I was there much longer than expected - 2 1/2 hours, which is a bit excessive. I was surprised at the cost when I paid. The fill was $35 and said she didn't charge me for 2 broken nails she replaced and charged an extra $10 for a bit of sparkle polish on the tips done in less than 60 seconds. Pink fill on website was $20. The pedicure was $35 and I chose the signature pedi for $28 with the lavender scrub, which was nice. She offered to do a free design for me so not sure how we got to $35. I paid a total of $95 including a $15 tip. This is the most money I've ever paid for these services. At that price I can't afford to make it my regular place. In all fairness to Maya and Linda I'd like to ask if there was a mistake in the charges. There was an unhappy lady there who was mad she had to wait when she had an appointment and Maya handled very professionally in an effort to accommodate everyone there. This salon is perfect. Everyone is super nice. Its clean and their prices are good. Emma is by far the nail technician I have ever been to. Have her do SNS dipping powder on your nails and you will not be disappointed. Its hard like acrylics but good for your nails. Its removed the same way as gel. I'm rough on my hands and polish does not last. Gel would chip by the end of the week. And UV light is not good for you. With SNS the powder is colored so it can't chip off and they have a huge selection. Emma is amazing with the hand piece cleaning around the cuticle. She trims the edges down so when your nail grows out it's flush with your natural nail (not a cliff). And she gets the color all the way to the edge flawlessly. They last for a good 2-3 weeks. I sort of don't want to post this cause I don't want her to be booked up. She's got talent. Pedicures are always great here too. Never again. Let me be fair by saying, when it comes to my nails I am EXTREMELY PARTICULAR and rarely stray from my normal salon & tech. I went to in for a 911 situation. I needed a last minute full set for an event that same night. My salon is in Oxnard & my tech was booked solid. I was thrilled & so thankful when Nail Luxury said they could take me at 6:30 when they close at 7. The salon itself was beautifully decorated, but more importantly , it was immaculately clean! Every tech was working once I arrived, but I was greeted with friendly smiles and my pedicure was started shortly after that. When Maya came to start my set, before I gave her my hands I told her "I am very particular when it comes to my nails. Shape is my biggest concern. I want them narrow(tapered square) & long" . She said ok & began to put on my tips. After putting my tips on she went to cut my nails. Before cutting my pinky she showed me and I had her leave it slightly longer and reiterated that I preferred my nails on the long side and the pinky would set the tone for how long she left the rest of my nails. After cutting back my tips, she stepped away to do repairs on two other clients , which I did not mind. During this time I was able to examine my nails and noticed that not only were my Tips cut way too short, but she also used different widths on corresponding fingers/nails and that made for a much wider look on some. I was initially bothered because I clearly communicated that I was looking for a long narrow look. The tech doing my toes overheard the conversation I was having with my boyfriend who was getting his feet done and said that it was an easy fix because no powder had been applied and the tips can be removed and replaced. She expressed my concerns to Maya and that's when they began speaking in a different language. Another tech who was sweeping the salon at this time came over to see my nails and their conversation continued accompanied with eyes rolls to clearly indicate they were talking about me which made me highly uncomfortable. By the time Maya was done helping the other clients and came back to do my nails I was visibly worried about what the outcome was going to be. At this time I reiterated to Maya that I felt my nails were too short and had wanted a much different look. Rather than being willing to fix it and give me what I was not only asking but also paying for...she told me I could not have long nails on a fresh set because my nails will lift. I told her I understood her concern but I know what I wanted. AGAIN, She refused to give me longer nails and told me when I come back for a fill in two weeks they would be much longer like I wanted and stronger. I've been getting my nails done for a solid decade and know what she is saying to be true. A fresh set is never as sturdy as your nails become once youve gotten a fill. I told her I understood what she was saying, but I know what I want. I told her I understood that doing nails is her profession, but I'm asking for something as a customer . At this point my frustration turned to astonishment and disbelief. My boyfriend reminded me that I would not be coming back for a fill and I could go the following day or weekend to have them re-done at my normal salon. During this conversation I was having with him (who was to my left) I told him he was right & these were just 911 nails. While speaking to him I made a comment along the lines of... Him being a business owner and knowing better than the lay person that you A. ATTEMPT TO SATISFY YOUR PAYING CUSTOMER or B. BE FORTHCOMING ABOUT YOUR CAPABILITIES & POLITELY REFUSE SERVICE . This is where my experience drastically changed. I had already accepted that this was a one time "means to an end" situation. But while in mid discussion with my boyfriend on my left, Maya on my right felt the need to interrupt a conversation not being had with her to say "you're not understanding . A new long nail will lift.." at this point I was not open to her explanation AGAIN. Fact of the matter was she was not giving me what I was asking and going to be expected to pay for. I said "excuse me, I am not addressing you. I'm having a conversation with him." As disappointed as I am that I allowed myself to be this affected and come that far out of character, I had had enough. Maya finished my nails. AND HAD THE AUDACITY TO ASK TO TAKE A PICTURE AFTERWARDS. Which blew my mind considering the POOR QUALITY of her work. My boyfriend who sees my normal nails & who is a man that could care less was even appalled by the finished product. The nails were not even in their short length nor was there a consistent shape to them. I was happy to pay for something I didn't ask for or like & get the heck out of there. My new nail spot. I am very picky when it comes to my nails, still Diana did a wonderful job on my gel manicure. My nails are super short and they still came out perfect and shaped nicely. Cindy's pedi massages are absolutely amazing! This was the first time I was totally relaxed at a nail salon to the point where I even dozed off a couple of times. Everyone is super friendly and you can tell that the guests comfort is their top priority. Not to mention the interior and overall atmosphere is really up to par. I love the look of a French manicure and Emma is an artist at getting the look just right whether you choose regular, gel, or dipping powder. I'm very pleased with their pedicures, too. The service never feels rushed, they take pride in taking the time to get the look just right. They have many colors available. The place is roomy, has comfortable chairs and is always clean. I smudged one toe and really appreciated having it fixed. The saying " Don't judge the book by its cover" is perfect for this dreadful salon!!! It looks beautiful and they are friendly until they mess up and you tell them!!!! This UNPROFESIONAL people gave me The WORSE French manicure I've ever had in my life and I've had them all over the world!!!! I was just notified that I was going to be in avid the next day and had a few hours before school. I dropped to STARZ NAILS at 9.30 am, that are very good and professional, but they were fully booked!!!! So I drove down the street to try this place. The first girl painted the white so thick and just straight across on my short nails so the fingers looked short & stubby!!! And I have long fingers & hands and a long nail bed. I pointed out to het tat it was too thick & straight for me. "I will clean after" she said, and I trusted she would shape it right. But it wasn't coming out right. When I asked her to make it thinner and not straight but oval with higher in the middle/top of the nail, she said: " Can you show me on my nail"!!!! She wanted me to TEACH Her!!!! She was trying & Trying to make it thinner and right shape, but kept messing up and finally wiped it all off when she'd been trying for at least 30 min when she said "she will do for you" And another lady, possibly the owner of the salon, that said she'd been doing this for 15 years, came to take over. Now they had 3 different bottles of white paint on the table and she kept dipping into all 3 different bottles back & forth. I put my glasses on and saw that the paint was coming on clumpy & was dry, so old!!! I told her that, but she said it was "not old" and "The top coat will fix it" Well it didn't!!!!! All 3 bottles were almost finished & Dry!!!! Before I left I turned them all up side down and nothing came out of either one of them!!!! An hour later I looked And the top coat was flaking/crackling and by night, not having done anything harsh with my hands, on the contrary, I was very careful, thinking I could touch it up myself!!!! But by morning it all had fallen off, I had a little left on my left ring finger and a small spot on two more fingers, the rest was all gone, GONE!!!! Never seen anything like it!!! I called and the lady was not apologetic at all, rather rude on top of it and said " You don't have to come here anymore!" I told her I had no intentions of that as it was the worst French manicure I've ever had and the reason I/m calling is I demand a refund, which she gave me, so they knew they were wrong and had given a bad un- professional service!!!! I received a text with the refund showing. They could have arrange to get fresh polish and offered to help me late or early in the morning as I had an engagement the next day!!! But instead they defended themself saying that it wasn't old even though I left all 3 bottles up side down on the table before I left to prove I was right!!! When you have a business you need to have the right and fresh products!!! This was so unprofessional & rude!!! As I had just been notified that morning about the event, I had no time to go anywhere else as I had 2 classes back to back that day that went into late evening. So I had to just take it all off and put clear on myself!!! I hope these people get out of business!!! They don't deserve any business!!!! read more

This place is great! I recently started get the dip acrylic nails and I love them. I went to a place in Simi first and I loved that my nails were growing, but the didn't look that great. Bumpy, lumpy, and kind of fat.. I didn't want to take them off as my nails that have never grown in my life were actually growing, but I didn't want to go to the place I had gone originally. I've given this place a try on multiple occasions but won't be back. First - they always try to persuade u to get a gel manicure even after multiple times saying no. Today I made an appointment with a specific person - I get there and they tell me she's not there. To top it off, they give me a manicure and only do one coat nail polish ( I have never seen this in my life ). Normally, I just do a basic manicure with no polish, as my nails are very weak and peel a lot.. so gels, etc ruin my already weak nails, and regular polish or no chip, just chips and doesnt last long. After living in Southern California for a year I have *finally* found my new nail salon!! First off, it is super easy to find. Secondly the salon is magnificent - clean and so beautifully decorated. The women were so friendly and kind to me - I got there for my appointment early and I didn't feel like I was annoying or inconveniencing them in any way. Jenny did my toes and another great girl did my nails - they came out perfect and the pricing is crazy reasonable! They thanked me a few separate times for waiting a bit (they were busy when I got there) and even thoughI was in the salon past closing time I didn't feel rushed or uncomfortable. Very poor customer service. The receptionist Diane is especially rude. I gave this salon a good try but won't be back. Very poorly managed and conveniently no one appears to be In charge. Appointments are not honored, (make you wait 30+ minutes because someone didn't show up), frequently under-staffed, high turnover of staff, varying levels of quality. Many of the staff seem very inexperienced: not sure if they are all licensed. The worse thing they do... it feels they judge you based on what you look like, on how much you tip, and treat different customers different. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Very shady place. I went here for a mommy daughter date with my 5 year old because they have little butterfly chairs for kids. After we picked our colors they told us it would be 20 min. At 30 min, I spoke up and asked how much longer because my daughter was getting antsy. At 40 min they took my daughter but not me. Then they came over and said she wants a flower on her toes. It will be $30 instead of $22. I said ok because I didn't want to ruin her experience but I said you are going to have to cancel me because my daughter is not going to sit for another half hour after she is done to wait for me. I was pissed!!! They spent 10 min total on my daughter and charged me $30. When paying I told them I was not happy and they didn't apologize or offer me anything. The gal turned to the mananger who was working on someone else and she only said that I had agreed to the extra charge for the flower so I had to pay. Will never be back!!!
