I first came to Miyako in search of a nail artist for my wedding. Leading up to the big day, we experimented with a few different styles I had in mind, and she nailed every single one (pun intended). She also did my Barbie-in-Vegas-themed bachelorette nails, which were absolutely stunning. I felt like a bad b**** every time I walked out of her studio. What truly sets Miyako apart is her meticulous attention to detail. The shape, smoothness, and evenness of the nails are always flawless. Even with just a plain color, my nails would look like they were perfect press on designs. You can tell she's a true creative who deeply cares about her craft. I also really appreciated the one-on-one setting--it's just you and her in a peaceful, distraction-free space, which makes the experience feel that much more special. I'm so sad I moved away from RPV and can't see her regularly anymore--but I'll absolutely be making that 2-hour drive for special occasions. That was around the time when the nail tech walked over to me for the first time to ask if I had chosen a color, not when my feet were in the water or when I was receiving the service, as I stated. She also walked away after the initial contact and returned a couple times, throwing supplies on her cart before proceeding. Regardless of that, my Zelle payment for tip was also confirmed at 6:54pm. So I do want to acknowledge that my time there was about an hour and a half total from my arrival/ appointment time. There was also not a "light residue" of the scrub left, there was literal exfoliating pieces/ beads and cream that I was able to scrape off my leg with my fingernail. There is no need to note my preferences as I will not be going back. If I had known that later appointments were known to be thrown off schedule, I would've just showed up late so I didn't have to wait. There was no update or follow up. While I understand it is the business owners responsibility to ensure all reviews are accurate, the repeated attempt to disprove what I stated was unnecessary when the issue still stands: my appointment time was not honored, i had literal pieces of scrub and gel on my leg, and someone used a cuticle cutter to PULL pieces of my toenail off without asking me. I understand these services are a luxury; I would not come in expecting to be waited on but I do expect basic communication and respect. The service and response were both disappointing.

Her quality is so good and the nails last so long (I'm currently on week 3 of my second set from her and I normally only do my nails every 2 weeks) so this time I'll be going back in maybe at my 5 week mark. I ended The bad: It's $8 per nail for an embellishment so it can get pretty pricey. It makes sense with how much meticulous care goes into each nail and how each fleck of gold and glitter was placed. They are small and looks like either I bite them or toddler nails, when I've never in my life bite my nails. As a result, I don't like my hands and never get my nails done thinking there's not much to work with to make them "pretty". I decided to treat myself with a fancy mani and Tammy made my nails look so cute. We were initially going to try to add fake nails to my real nails but she picked up my subtle unease and hesitation with them so we decided to forego and not use any fake nails at all. She was in a hurry and said she didn't have time in a not friendly way. So I didn't want to check my nails and ask her to redo any. Tools were not pulled out of a plastic sheet, when I asked if they autoclave she said yes and kept looking down. But she just pulled them out of a wet fluid, so I'm not sure. Hope I don't get fungus under my nails. I'm used to places opening a packet in front of you and the tools are dry and sealed. Reading other reviews here, I'm nervous that I should've paid closer attention to the condition of the buffer and such. I won't be returning as she wasn't friendly and they don't look smooth and even. After paying $65-70, I should've just done them myself. The hot stones massage on pedicure was nice and massage. But for painting, needs improvement.
