Edit: Here is some updated information after receiving the response below from the owner. It was stated that my service began at 5:45pm. That was around the time when the nail tech walked over to me for the first time to ask if I had chosen a color, not when my feet were in the water or when I was receiving the service, as I stated. She also walked away after the initial contact and returned a couple times, throwing supplies on her cart before proceeding. Regardless of that, my Zelle payment for tip was also confirmed at 6:54pm. So I do want to acknowledge that my time there was about an hour and a half total from my arrival/ appointment time. There was also not a "light residue" of the scrub left, there was literal exfoliating pieces/ beads and cream that I was able to scrape off my leg with my fingernail. There is no need to note my preferences as I will not be going back. If I had known that later appointments were known to be thrown off schedule, I would've just showed up late so I didn't have to wait. There was no update or follow up. While I understand it is the business owners responsibility to ensure all reviews are accurate, the repeated attempt to disprove what I stated was unnecessary when the issue still stands: my appointment time was not honored, i had literal pieces of scrub and gel on my leg, and someone used a cuticle cutter to PULL pieces of my toenail off without asking me. I understand these services are a luxury; I would not come in expecting to be waited on but I do expect basic communication and respect. The service and response were both disappointing. read more

Very good nail shop in Torrance. Located off Hawthorne Blvd just Sepulveda. There is construction going on at this complex shared with other businesses. Parking is easy in the spots shared with other businesses. I have either called ahead or showed up as a walk in during midweek. There is a receptionist in front and you let her know what you would like done. They offer you either Pepsi, bottled water, or a bottled sangria. I always get water. The salon is spacious and super clean. I don't have a regular tech that I request and open to whoever is available. They do a great job for the most part especially the massages on the feet, calves, hands and arms. I usually get a French pedicure and a regular manicure with just clear polish. I've always stuck to the same spot for my nails, but since moving to the South Bay, it's been more of a commitment to continue going to them. Decided it's time to find a new local spot. Cue NaiLAX - modern, spacious, clean, and inviting interior. I called in yesterday to schedule a mani/pedi for today and they fit me in right when they opened. I was offered a beverage when I walked in and quickly got me situated in a chair. Vinny did my manicure and I wish I got the name of the tech doing my pedicure, but both were really meticulous when it came to shaping and cleaning! I always fear getting cut on my toes, but not a single cut today! Walked out of there feeling like a new person. Super friendly staff and can't wait to come back. They have absolutely no experience in removing hard gel. Literally took 45 minutes to remove, so I ended up not even getting a new set because I was already over it at that point. Mind you, they already had me waiting until 215 when my appointment was at 2. She scraped off my entire nail bed and drowned my nails in acetone, so now they're super weak and painful. Never going back. EDIT based on response: It is not the customer's responsibility to notify the salon of hard gel removal because I assumed everyone at the salon is capable of doing so. If only certain techs are able to do it, then it should be the salon's responsibility to ask the customer when booking the appointment - since it's such a big issue. I paid $90 for builder gel and after only three weeks, one of my nails cracked right in the middle. It's bad enough that I now have to cut my natural nail short and wait for it to grow out.I've had builder gel done for over 2 years at different places and have never had this happen, so for it to break like this after paying this price is crazy.I reached out, I was told they only offer a 7-day guarantee, which is dumb cause other salons would fix this issue. I always love coming here. It's aesthetically pleasing and they're easy to get ahold of through text or phone call. I like that they have plenty of space and it doesn't smell like your average salon, it's well ventilated. And every time I come here their playlist is bumpin! I don't want to seem elitist but for the price and area I expected more. I brought my elderly mother here for a nice manicure and pedicure. The nail artist was indifferent and incapable of answering simple questions. I didn't even get her name. I understand that this type of work can be difficult because clients are not always likable, but I think service workers should be polite. I've been a service workers, and you still uphold a level of customer service. The nail work itself could have been done at home by me--someone with little to no experience. I wouldn't even call the work "basic," it's just lifeless. The salon is also not clean. Mops and dirty towels everywhere. The building has cracking walls which is a landlord issue, not a salon issue. My mother told me that she never wants to go to a nail salon ever again. It's just not worth it. read more

I don't normally leave reviews on places I frequent, but in this case I feel compelled to do so. On my last visit at this location I got a gel pedicure with a filling, where I noticed there was a large space between my cuticle and the polish, which appeared that I still needed a fill although it had already been done. I asked for it to be fixed, and it was, but with a lot of attitude attached to fixing it. I was told that they just didn't polish it all the way down to the bottom, and I'm not sure why that decision was made, but when paying for 200+ dollar service I do not want it to look like my nails still need to be done after paying for them to be done. I just called to make an appointment at this location, only to be called back for my appointment to be canceled due to the Nail Tech not wanting to complete my service because I have special requests. It feels a little discriminatory to be denied service for asking for things to be done a certain way. Very disappointed. If a service isn't done properly or to your liking as a paying customer you should be able to communicate to the Nail Tech and ask them to fix things. So just keep in mind if you are particular in any way, they will not want to service you! read more

This is the worst set I've ever gotten. To start, he applied builder gel before prepping the nails. I did not see him open up a new set of tools. He did not clean up the cuticles and when I mentioned it he said he will do it later. He then applied the black French tip with no precision. I called last minute for a gel pedi, (luckily they had availability ) I was seated as soon as I got there, and had a great service once again. Jenny did my pedi, and was super attentive and thorough. Usually most places can feel rushed or just do the bare minimum ; especially with the massage at the end), but Jenny did not skip out at all. She did great, my polish didn't start above the nail bed ( as some places do, because it's so annoying when that happens and it looks like your fresh pedi is already a week old), she checked a couple of times to make sure things were to my liking, and was very pleasant and detailed. I've returned after a couple months to get a manicure and pedicure. I wanted a gel manicure with a pink French tip. Nothing crazy I was thinking. + this is the first time I do something different than just a solid color. I was set up with a technician that didn't understand when I said French tip but pink tips instead of white. I showed him a picture and he looked at it the entire time as he filed away at my nails. He said he'll try one nail and show me to see if I like it. I thought it was good enough but then you could see my natural nail underneath which I didn't want. The base polish was way too sheer. Eventually he found a polish that we double coated to make opaque to cover my natural nail and do the tips. He then told me it's his first time and he's doing his best. Which I understand! We all have a first time. But I corrected him so many times and the salon was too busy to ask for another technician. Nor did I have the time to wait for a different one. Later a woman came to do my pedicure. She was doing a good job up until it came time to cut my nails. I have never had anyone dig into my big toe nail the way she did. It was super uncomfortable!! I was too focused on watching my manicure be done to realize it was too late to say anything about what she was doing. She had to finish and cut the hanging nail off the edge. I do not have ingrown toe nails and I really really hope I don't end up with one from what she did to my big toes. Also I'm terrified that I might be at risk for an infection because of the bare skin she left open from pulling out the side of my big toe nails. They were red but it didn't look like blood. As she painted my nails she had her own nails digging into the side of my toes which was painful. I was stuck between correcting my manicurist and feeling the pain of that lady's nails in my feet. I couldn't expend any more time and I ended up paying $90 + tips for the services. Gel was extra $15 and French tips are $10 extra on top of the classic I got which was $28 so a $53 manicure. The pedicure as painful as it was, was $30 but that's adds up to $83 and I was charged $90. I don't know where the extra $7 came from. I've been at this nail salon as a regular so I don't know if I should be coming back or not. I've attached photos of the manicure I was given. read more

I left my previous beloved salon because my work location changed, and I was looking for a new spot locally. Nailax had great reviews and pretty good social media account (@nailaxtorrance) showcasing their work and offerings. I went way back on New Years Day - so full of hope for 2024 lol - and got their Champagne Hour seasonal pedicure special. SO COOL. Since then, have gone back for standard pedicure (non-gel). Very nice and polite, efficient service, no hard sell (but lots of options). I am not a mani person, but looks like many offerings there. They serve a drink with your session. Appointments recommended - I usually call or text for appointment. Tip is cash or I believe venmo. Location is very clean, plenty of parking, and steady clientele. Highly recommend. read more

I came in for a pedicure and left with my left big toe swollen and tender for three days--likely due to the technician aggressively attempting to remove an ingrown nail that didn't exist. A few days later, I also noticed that the gel on the middle toe of the same foot looked unusually thick and blocky. By day 7, that gel completely lifted off without resistance, even breaking my natural nail. When I returned to have it fixed, I was told I'd need to pay $3 for gel and $5 for the extension because it was "outside their 7-day warranty," despite the fact that we were on vacation during that period. The original technician wasn't even present, and the woman at the front desk (black roots, blonde hair, glasses, bangs) showed zero care or accountability. She was dismissive, unapologetic, and repeatedly insisted it wasn't their fault--completely ignoring both my explanation and my boyfriend's attempt to reason with her. This is not how you treat customers, especially when the issue was clearly a result of poor service. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values hygiene, professionalism, or basic customer care. read more
