I have been coming here since 2021, my mom, sister, and I come every three weeks. They usually do a good job on nails, occasionally they will chip after a week or so but overall usually pretty good. The nail quality is not the reason we will not be returning. Even though we have gone every three weeks for 4 years, we have had many rude occurrences here and have finally had enough to find somewhere new. The girl who works reception is incredibly rude. Whenever we try to add a pedicure to our manicure appointment something always seems to go wrong. For instance, I wanted a pedicure before I had my baby and added them to our appointment. We go in to our appointment and only do our nails, when I ask about our pedicures she just tells me no and we don't have an appointment, then she tells us we only made an appointment to get our toes painted, nothing else...I'm not sure I even knew that was a possibility at a nail salon. So I guess that is better than nothing and they paint our toes. There was no apology, nothing done to try to make it better. It seemed to me that they overbooked or just didn't want to do our pedicures. Weird. For the first time in 4 years, we rescheduled our appointment due to my kids being sick, we gave 5 hours notice and rescheduled for the next week AND I thought added a pedicure for all three of us. I called to rescheduled and they don't answer (they never do) so I text them and Immediately get a call back. She says they can move us to next week but I now need to pay a deposit because for parties of 3 their policy is to always take a deposit. I was shocked because this hasn't happened to us in the past 4 years.. I said I would but I was surprised and asked if it was a new policy she said no. Okay whatever. Well we show up to our appointments and guess what, no pedicure. She said "No I didn't put you down for that you are just getting manicures today." No apology, nothing. I even have the text to prove I booked pedicure and manicure, the message which she loved on iMessage. Not sure what we did to tick her off but she was clearly rude to us. This deposit was to go towards my service and of course when she checked me out she conveniently forgot about it even though she mentioned it when we walked in and I had to correct her which she then did honor it. After paying she did not ask us if we wanted to rebook even though we typically do every time which is no problem, we weren't coming back anyway. On top of this, every time we booked a 6pm appointment (they close at 7), they clearly didn't want us there and were rushing to get us out. Not a good experience when we are just trying to treat ourselves. They also never answer the phone, you have to call or text multiple times to get any response. I'm sure there are other places that do just as good as a job and can actually be pleasant. I guess if you have to go, Cookie and Henry were always nice to us. read more

I've gone here for a while and have seen Sophia and she is amazing. Life happened and my dip manicure she did lasted a month. However yesterday I took my sister with me and she got Aurora. This was really the first time I felt like money was wasted. It depends on who you get here. My nails done by Sophia were great but my sisters done by Aurora were so bad. I had called to make an appointment for my mom (dip) and me (acrylic), and they told me all the nail techs who do acrylic were booked up and they could only do dip. So I just made the appointment for my mom. I ended up coming to the appointment with my mom and miraculously they were able to get me in too!! I was filled with joy and Tina, the mail tech who worked on my nails did exactly as I wanted. It was a little on the $$$ side but I felt taken care of. UPDATE: 2 days after getting these done the chrome started to chip off at the edges. They let me come in to fix it without charge, but the next week more of the nails were peeling off at the edges. I'm not for sure if it's the nail tech who did my nails, or just the chrome polish.. but I will give this place another try because besides the polish peeling up, I really enjoyed my time here. read more

Make sure you make an appt ahead of time, as they fill up fast. A very cute and posh place right next to the plaza. If you check out their Instagram, you can see that their nail techs are artists! I tried to get a double French manicure at my regular nail salon, and was told that no one could do something like that without a stencil and was turned away. Well, when it was time for my next manicure, I chose these guys instead. My nail tech took the time to look at the photo of what I wanted to make sure that what she was doing was identical. I can't recommend this place for regular polish. The pictures below speak for themselves. A man nail tech painted my nails, and a woman nail artist came to do the blood drips on one hand while he watched and learned. Then he did the "blood drips" on another hand. Bless his heart, he was a really nice guy, but maybe the learning should be done on each other and not the client. They gave me less than half off of the nail art as a result, didn't offer to fix it, and while it's a funny story it's also a waste of $40 bc I cannot walk around with little dicks on my left hand. Really big bummer. I waited to review to see how my nails held up but the entire experience was a disappointment. For starters, we had an appointment scheduled for weeks in advance. Literally two minutes before our appt time, they called and told us they didn't have a technician to do acrylic nails. They ended up figuring it out but that should've been a red flag. I had dip done and unfortunately I felt that what I was asking for wasn't understood. I asked for a thin square shape, which turned into coffin shape. I really dislike complaining about a service but nervously pointed out that the shape wasn't what I was hoping for. The nail technician caught an attitude immediately and told me she "couldn't tell the difference". Ultimately I had them file them way down and was able to fix them at home. Unfortunately, fixing your own nails after paying a hefty price is a big bummer. One week later, my dip has chipped and cracked on several nails. I get my nails done every 3-4 weeks and have literally never had my dip chip off before! Such a disappointment. I really would no recommend Nail Society. read more

I've been to at least seven different nail salons in the Kansas City metro and Nail Society is my top pick. Clean, high-quality service in a salon with a high-end, contemporary vibe. Nail Society is very selective about who they hire, so you know you're being taken care of by an expert technician every time. They know what they are doing and will take care of you and your nails. Beautiful, safe location in the South Plaza area with plenty of street parking and a garage nearby. (Tip: pair a Nail Society appointment with a visit to their neighbor, Power Life Yoga Barre Fitness, for a serious self-care day!) To my knowledge you can't make appointments online, so you have to call them and they tend to book up fast. You may be able to email them (NailSocietyKC@gmail.com) but I've never tried. To me, online appointment scheduling is essential for contemporary salons. If it wasn't for my friend making appointments for us, I may never have discovered Nail Society and their expertise! Great variety of color options for regular, dip, and gel polish. They even have cat eye dip, gold flakes, and so much more. All of the regular polish bottles look brand new, no old bottles. $45 for a dip manicure, $5 for tips, and an extra $5 depending on the tip shape, etc. Unfortunately, I can't afford to go here regularly, but absolutely love it for special occasions when you need your nails to be on point. For dip removal they have you soak in a small bowl of acetone. Lastly, one of my favorite things is they always seat my friends and I next to one another so we can spend time together. Nail Society SAVED my day! Love them here! As a long time customer of BKS Nails down the street in Brookside, I will only be going to Nail Society in South Plaza from here on out. If you are looking for a nail salon with attention to detail, cleanliness, friendly staff and great decor and vibes LOOK NO FURTHER. On the left is my jenky nails I got done at BKS Nails who completely rushed me. On the right is the fix that Nail Society implemented. They fixed my nail beds, shaped them better and put this nice grapefruit design on one of my nails like I originally wanted. BKS Nails said they could not do this very simple design of a grape fruit on one nail. Nail Society did this in 20 mins with such kindness and attention to detail, and only charged me $15 to fix my nails and add this cute design. Can't wait for my future appointments here! read more

I really like this nail salon, right around the corner from the plaza branch of the KC library. First, the good things about this nail salon: they do fantastic work that lasts longer than any other manicure I have ever had. My dip manicures often last close to a month when I have them done here. The space is gorgeous, modern and fun. I have to dock a star because the scheduling process is really odd. Whenever I call to book and then get to my appointment I often have to wait for up to 20 minutes to start my appointment. I totally understand that sometimes people run behind. But both times I have been here I've sat with my hands in acetone water for 20 minutes waiting for a technician to be assigned to me. This is while I'm watching walk ins and other people with appointments that came in after me start their sessions. It makes me wonder if it would just be more effective to walk in instead of scheduling an appointment. read more

Poor pedi job my services cost me $150 and I'm extremely dissatisfied with my gel pedi service. I originally requested a different shade of pink which the tech did a horrible job painting on top of completely missing 2 nails. This forced me to return back and take time out of my busy schedule! Was told to return at a specific time, had to wait an additional 30mins the nail tech argued with me then finally decided he would do what was right but this time he insisted to paint using a different color so he chose this powder pink that I absolutely hate. My most recent appointment from this salon has been the second and last time this business will screw me over. My first experience with this salon was shady, but I ignored it because I liked the final product of my nails. During my first appointment, when It was time to check out. They made me pay twice. This meant she rang me up for the services I got, and then I paid. Then, after I paid, she said, "Oh, I charged you wrong. I need to charge you again," (the second charge was not included when I originally asked about pricing before they started doing the nails and was added at the moment of checkout) and so I ended up having to charge my card again without a price breakdown, explanation and they refused me a receipt. In my second experience getting my nails done here, I came in with an inspo pic, and they expressed they could replicate the look. So now, at this point, I'm 4 hours into my nails. I didn't think it would take this long, and she's still not done. We get to a point where I don't think my nails will 1) finish on time and 2) look anything like the inspo, so I explain that I'm not happy with how it's turning out and ask to change it to a different style. She agrees but says I had to pay the total price of the original unfinished inspo along with the new style I would have gotten, which would have been over $300 altogether. After going back and forth with workers on how I didn't feel comfortable paying an extra $150 for a style I wouldn't be leaving with, they just cut off my nails. Within this appointment, I got my toes done with gel polish (which I paid the total price for), and after getting home, the shiny topcoat became matte. Might I add that even though it took four hours, maybe even more, it still felt like they were rushing to get me out. Long story short, this nail salon is overpriced, shady, and doesn't seem to care for the quality of their work, more so the quantity. read more

My daughter just called me in tears after spending $80 + tip at Nail Society. She is a teen girl who likes the crazy designs... so her expectations are obviously high when we read that Nail Society does the best designs in KC. She gets stuck with a guy that obviously has no idea what he is doing. She didn't ask for coffin, but somehow got that shape. It's jagged and horribly shaped. He then makes her bleed, and does not apologize. He puts a sheer coat underneath that is incredibly streaky. She points this out and he does not fix it. The nails are weirdly short, after she asked for them to be longer. The design looks close to the picture, but the shaping and streaky bottom coat ruins the nails. Her cuticles are awful looking, and she is still bleeding. He left paint all over her hands. This was an ATROCIOUS experience. Never again will we spend our money here. read more

I'm going to give this place 3.75 stars. I wanted so badly to be obsessed with this location, but I must admit that I have had better nail experiences. Upon walking in, anyone can see that this location is absolutely stunning. The decor is well thought out, beautiful, contemporary and makes you want to have services there. It is also SUPER CLEAN, which is something I can very much appreciate about any nail salon, especially in light of the current nature during the pandemic. I also love that they have a huge selection of polishes (not just gel like most other locations), in bottles that appear to be new. If I were to base my review on the salon location and esthetic alone, it would receive 5 stars. However, the services were simply "okay". When you are paying top dollar for even a basic polish manicure and slightly upgraded pedicure (I paid about $73 for both services without tip), you expect to receive a top-notch job. While the upgraded pedicure scrub and mask was nice, I did not experience a service that I felt was worth the upgrade fee. As far as the manicure, this was probably the worst part. She did a great job shaping and cleaning the cuticles, but the polish appearance could definitely use some improvement. They look great from far away, but when you look at them up close, you can see that the top coat is not in line with the color and the use of 3 coats of color made the nail have a "wrinkled" and heavy appearance. Granted most people do not take a magnifying glass to your nails and some people may not find this important, but I would have expected a little more attention to detail. I am hoping that they will at least last a few days like my usual polish job does. If I plan to return, I would like to try the gel manicure with a design as that seems to be their strength according to their Instagram. Overall, I would say it is worth it to make the trip to experience the salon. Just pay close attention to what the technician is doing, and perhaps consider getting gel instead of polish. read more
