I came in to the salon for a gelx set. I had previously been here and I liked their work. I always tip well. So Idk why Vin was rude and off putting. However today I went in for a fullest and vin had previously quoted me $115 a few weeks ago and now the quote went up by $30. I decided to change my design so I did. I was very detailed about what I wanted especially for $105. He seemed very annoyed, like he didn't want to be there. He would even assist me in picking colors. I had to ask 3 times. I should have just left. So sad that customer service is dead here. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Walked in to get mani pedis with my friend. Was told they are waiting on one person to show up so could only take one of us. Three workers were standing around doing nothing. This really should be a 2-star review, but the people here are so incredibly nice that I can't bring myself to give them 2 stars. They're near my house, so I pop in here on occasion due to the convenience, but it was a long time between pedis and even a longer time since I had been here and there are some changes in the past year or so. They're under new ownership and with that comes new massage chairs which are very comfy and work well. My pedi was just ok at this last visit and that has usually been the case at this nail salon. My piggies looked fine afterwards, but the massage was so-so and there were no upgrades offered. The nail tech got a bit over-zealous with the pumice and managed to scratch the heck out of my ankle/heel area and after more than two weeks, it's still not completely healed. While I was getting my pedi, I noticed one of the nail techs "cleaning" some of her tools and it made me a bit wary of their attention to ensuring their customers are protected from nail fungi and other potential pathogens. I would much prefer to see them autoclave their tools rather than the quick spritz with cleaner and a swipe with a cloth that I witnessed. I'd be surprised if this would pass muster with state inspectors. They now offer facials and waxing, but I honestly am very unlikely to use these services. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! *For the record- I Give ZERO stars* There aren't enough words to express how much I hated this experience. She was trying to move quickly and wasn't paying any attention to what she was doing. Nearly ripped off one of my nails trying to remove my acrylics. Clipped a nail too close and caught my skin. She was not listening to the color I wanted. I asked to change it and she just kept adding random flakes and shimmer..... At this point I'm so irritated, I can hardly speak. I CANNOT believe I walked out paying $58 for a crap job!!!! I will have to pay someone else to fix whatever the hell just happened to my nails! THIS IS THE WORST NAIL SALON I'VE EVER BEEN TO IN KANSAS CITY. I'm here now getting a fill, and the boy doing it is a complete d**k. He screwed up my nail length, then got super defensive when I noticed, saying "Do you not want me to do it?", as though I have some other option besides letting him finish this shoddy job or leaving less than halfway through the process. Currently, he's filing my nails unevenly. Now he's talking to another customer as he's working on me, looking at her, not my nails. Basically, I'm spending my time and money to insure that I'll get to spend more time and money at a different nail salon getting this f**k-up fixed. What a waste. read more

We were in the neighborhood and needed some quick nail work and were so glad we found this place!! The service was amazing, so friendly and welcoming. It honestly felt like we were just chatting amongst friends. I just did a polish change so my finger nails didn't last more than a couple days but my toe nails still look great a week later. The pedicure was only $25 and it was the best pedicure I've ever had! The foot/leg massage was wonderful. It's been two weeks and my toes are still perfect. I even workout 5 days/week and it still looks like a fresh pedicure. Would definitely recommend. read more

The ONLY reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because....well I guess if you were in a hurry and didn't want to clip or paint your own toe nails....this would be your place. The male worker was sleeping on the couch when we came in and the other nail person loudly complained that she was JUST getting ready to go home (we showed up 2 hours before closing). The "massage" lasted about 2 minutes on each leg. The chairs are terrible on top of everything else. Borderline painful. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!! johnny did my nails. it was a Tuesday afternoon and i walked in for a full set. there was nobody in the front to greet me. it was just an empty salon, eventually someone comes up and asks what i want. i tell him a full set and he pretty rudely told me to pick a color and then stood there and stared at me while i was trying to decide. he never even offered me gel which is what i usually get. i was already annoyed and i thought it couldn't get any worse but... then he goes to work on my nails. he was very rough with my hands and when i said ouch or asked him to be more gentle he was very dismissive and kept going. the nails themselves weren't horrible he was just very rude and hurt my hands a lot. when he finally painted them (remember it was regular polish not gel) he told me to stick my hands in front of this little fan and between him moving stuff around and me trying to get comfortable i bumped my nail and that's where he got really snippy with me. he told me that was the third time i messed up my nails and now he was going to have to fix it. i asked when i messed them up before and he said he just didn't point it out. i've gone to a lot of nail places and i've NEVER been treated that way over a bumped nail. usually it's no big deal they just fix it and move on. but this time he didn't even bother putting a top coat on the fixed nail so now the polish is chipping there and it just doesn't look great. he then asked me to move under the other dryer and as soon as he went in the back i asked his co worker, who finally came out to work on a regulars nails, if i could leave. she was nice but made it very clear that if i messed my nails up after that it wasn't their problem. fine by me. now, i'm a waitress in prairie village and trust me i understand a bad day and i get that it's really easy to take it out on customers whiteout even trying which is why i always tip and i try to be as nice as possible but this was just ridiculous. go to oasis! they're not much further and they're around the same price point plus super friendly staff! read more

AWFUL!!! I went there twice. Johnny was my nail tech both times. My gel started chipping and peeling 2 days after it was done. Unfortunately, I was out of town both times so I couldn't get back. As it turns out, he does not have you wash your hands prior to applying the gel. Also he never used a base coat and only one time did he apply alcohol to cure the gel. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I came in a week ago to have my shellac manicure redone. The man doing my nails was extremely rude and kept saying "your nails are so short". They aren't even that short, but I explained to him I have to keep them somewhat short for work but that i just like to keep them looking nice and shaped even though they can't be long. He was extremely rough when he was buffing my nails, to the point that I thought he cut my skin with it, but it just scratched my skin. He didn't trim my cuticles, he didn't even file my nails. He just threw the shellac on and then charged me $30 dollars for a shellac refill. Most places if you choose to not get the manicure it's around $20. Nope. No cuticle trim, no filing, no lotion on the arms at the end, just a shellac paint for $30 bucks. AND to make matters worse it's all peeling off after a week. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

stay away!!! so dirty and nasty inside!!! there was a bug on the gross wall!!i took a picture of it!! i was the only one there on a friday. the guy with eye liner was nice but i didn't feel relaxed i was worried i would catch something. i only went since i received a gift certificate. massage chair kind of worked. the chairs were ripped and gross. nail polish looked old. carpet wasn't vacuumed in a while. the sink hasn't been cleaned. i am praying i don't get an infection. read more

I would not recommend this place. I walked in to ask if I could get a manicure. The woman told me no wait. She had a friend with her child walk in and she proceeded to bedazzle both of their nails for 45 minutes while I sat and waited. A young girl was also waiting and her father ended up coming in upset as she/he had been told no wait as well. I got up and left at this point as the staff was very disrespectful. I usually never comment on the reviews of others and just share my personal reviews; however, I saw these reviews about Real Tech Nails and therefore, I feel obliged. To begin, I'm slightly over 60 and I used to Model, am in the field of fashion. I'm very, very particular. About 3 yrs ago, this Nail Salon came recommended to me by a friend when I shared that the salon I'd gone to for years was being late for my appts, noisy children were allowed to run about...so that my quiet, quality serviced time was no longer. My first visit was a good one and I thought, "Okay, I could probably come back here"! Well there were a few times in the last few years that I'd need Mani/Pedi while out of town on business (Chicago, Dallas, L.A., Denver, etc.) and had not been 100% satisfied...for various reasons...$$, quality of staff service for the $$, location, etc. Nonetheless, I didn't think it was fair to give a review that wasn't favorable". Real Tech is wonderful! The "man" that the earlier review referred to has to just being MEAN SPIRITED! I'm in the salon at least twice a month without fail and I've seen customers be rude to both owners and they just take it! Women have walked in with nail issues from other salons, wanting Real Tech Nail Salon to "wave a magic wand", when actually these women don't realize that going to get your nails done every few months is not good care and CAN create a process that is more time consuming and cost more; yet they complain, etc.. Well, as a regular client, I wish they'd find some other place to go, because people at Real Tech we say hello, chat with one another (even though we don't know each other). The prices...they actually don't charge us enough!!! Seriously, their quality of work is easily worth $5 to $10 more that are the charges at other salons here in the Overland Park area. As long as they're in business, "I'll be a customer"!! Thank you Mr & Mrs (Owners), I Love How you've maintained my hands, nails & feet!! PS: I was curious, so I just looked at the reviews from one of the people who gave Real Tech Nail Salon 1 Star...this person has traveled from Salon to Salon here in the Olathe/Overland Park area and has not been pleased with or found something wrong with them also. Johnny and Ying are SO SWEET. I have never had a problem getting services (walk in or appt.). I've been getting my nails done there for 8 years and I would never go anywhere else. They do an excellent job (I have acrylics). And I have also had waxing done there. A lot has changed for Real Tech Nail in the past 3 years. They got new chairs for pedis, Ying now does facials and waxing as well as eyebrow tattooing, in addition to nail and her nail art is AMAZING! read more
