I recently moved to the area and I am looking to become the next resident client of a nail shop in my neighborhood. I am queasy about going to new places and highly meticulous about how my hands and feet look. After all, I do not have a problem paying top dollar and tipping well for that perfect mani and pedi. After a google search, I came across NailBox. I was there right after they opened as a walk-in. I loved the the chic decor and loft vibe instantly. It was a little hard to choose a color with the very limited dip color options. They had every spectrum colors of gels. I just loved how they had the colors coordinated not all over the place. My tech, Zory, was timid at first but very nice. I am talkative and like to converse with my techs. I had a bad case of allergies and she was patient with all my sneezing , sniffing and stuffy nose. Gel Pedicure was ok. Took her time to trim and file. I loveee foot rubs and everyone can agree that they are the best part of pedis but I was screwed this week. On the other hand, I am not happy with my dip mani. I expected perfect and immaculate nails for $120 (+$20 tip). I had to get a layer of acrylic on my middle finger since my natural nail was chipped. The nail was not filed properly. On top of that hiccup, She had to put gel polish on top of my dip to cover the gap between my cuticle and where the polish started. And on some nails, the gel cured on my cuticle. She offered me water right before the end of my service, which was a nice gesture, even though I think it was too late after 4 hours of being there. I'll give the place another shot, just because I love the vibe. I just hope the next nail tech exceeds my expectations. read more

Came here for my first manicure after moving to Miami. It was between work and home, so was relatively conveniently located but not near the metro. I previously had builder-in-a-bottle, which they did not have, so they used a dip painted on full-in. Two nails broke previously so they fixed with acrylic tips. I also got a color change with gel. It chipped a but after a week, but the dip fill-in is still going strong. It was pretty affordable for everything I had done. The ambience is cute, fresh, and modern. The wall with nail polish has an artificial greenery, which looks nice. I did not get a pedicure but they use this machine that buffs off calluses which I'd love to try in the future. I was so excited to try this place since it was just a couple of minutes from my house. I was getting my nails done for my birthday but the experience was not a relaxing one, like I had hoped, When I walked in I stood at the door people looked at me but no greeting. I was really excited to try this place after reading the reviews and seeing it was semi-close to my job in downtown. I frequently get off work at 6:30 or later, so it is usually difficult for me to get my nails done during the week. I booked an appointment online for NailBox for their latest time (7:15pm) and received a confirmation email the day before. Day of appointment, I am able to sneak away from work early and arrive to the salon at 6:45. When coming in, I realized no one who works there speaks any English at all (expected in Little Havana though). Another one of the customers translated for me to them that I was the 7:15 appt for dip. After about 5 minutes, a worker had one of the customers translate to me that they are "too booked" for the day and if I could reschedule for tomorrow. I already had two broken nails so I declined and booked somewhere else in case the same "too booked" thing happened again. I wish I could have gotten at least a call in advance so I didn't waste my time because at that point I had to wait another day for another salon. 1 extra star because the decor is cute. read more

This is the second time I give this place a try. First time I came, walked in right when they opened and they weren't ready. Owner or manager had to apologIze since none of their staff was available. They all came in 30 mins after store opened with coffees and breakfast at hand and looked at me like i was disturbing their breakfast break. Even though this was a weird and unwelcoming experience, i did my nails with one of the nail techs who was pregnant at the time and did an amazing job, she was very nice. This is what ultimately had me giving it a second chance. This second time was horrible. I got there at 1030 just Incase i was interrupting breakfast or waiting for staff to get there. But to my surprise the manager told me everyone called in sick today. First of all, how is that possible. I felt bad, like any business owner would (i think) and when he asked to write my number down to call me when he got some staff i accepted. He called me two hours later and i came in. I wanted to do a regular mani and a gel pedi (because i work in healthcare and we aren't allowed to use gel on our hands) Horrible job. She barely cut my cuticles, barely buffed my nails and i even had to tell her to take the nail polish off because she left a bunch of air bubbles on the polish. I was terrified for her to do my gel pedicure and yeah she messed that one up too. Looks like a thick gob on my toes. I hate it. I didn't have to pay for my manicure since i left with no paint and basically the same way i got in. But so disappointed. I think they worry too much about making the place look too hip and offering cafecito to shut you up than actually hirirng nail techs that actually know how to work. Wow ! I am so impressed with the quality of my nails . The nail salon looks like it's being remodeled but that was not an issue . I was greeted immediately after entering and was sat down within 5 minutes . I learned later that they are usually fully booked so I was excited that I was able to be accommodated . My nail tech was experienced and began by giving my a mani prior to applying the Gel X nails which I had never done before. I loved the attention to detail she provided to my real nails prior to applying the artificial nail . I asked for a design and she was able to deliver that to the T. I was so happy with the results that I booked my next appointment right there and then . It's definitely not cheap but I am okay with paying a little more for quality and a good job done . 2.5 hours for a fill is extreme. My last tech (in la) literally handed painted flames to perfection on every nail in an hour and 15 minutes. Shape was off, like very. None of the fingers are the same. I did My best to file the tops myself to make them Straight prior to polish. I showed her a photo which she assured me she could do, she could not. Looked nothing like the photo so I told her to leave the base French. not impressed at all. I assume that the beautiful photos on Instagram are from one or two nail techs that work there cuz it definitely was not the work of the girl who attended me. I had gone here on a last minute "I want my nails done" moment for my birthday. I had requested acrylic nails with a gradient and a gel top coat. The nails lasted me 2 weeks and nothing broke -1 star because the top coat lost its shine by week 2 for some reason and there were some areas that either had no acrylic or weren't filed down. The owner seems to be incredibly accommodating and nice. I plan to come back here to see if maybe they're better with other services and what else is to come with this salon.
