I am visiting Dallas and of course my nails broke as soon as they touched my luggage handle. I went to 3 different salons in the Deep Ellum area before Chai said he could take me (other places did not have a nail tech available unless you scheduled an appointment). Chai was taking care of another client, so I waited a bit and picked a color. I let him know I was in a hurry as I was on a lunch break, so he made sure I knew his payment methods ahead of time. This was great as I could prepare it with one hand while he was finishing up the other hand. He did a great job removing my old polish, cleaning up my broken nails, and applying a new gel coat. His studio is clean and you can tell he takes great care in making sure it stays that way. His work is careful and precise and he was really nice and attentive. I typically don't leave reviews unless something really has to be said. In this case, I definitely had to say something. Firstly, I always prefer to support black businesses & my community. However, I've gone to Chai a few times & every time I've noticed a similar pattern. Each visit got even more worst. On my last visit, he kept on demanding me to place my hands a certain way. I thought to myself, is he seriously not going to politely ask me to readjust my hands?? And THEN This dude even smacked my finger down at one point and readjusted my whole entire arm in such an unprofessional way. I ALMOST SCREAMED AT HIM! Ugh ‍ it makes me so upset to even think about it again. But, I wanted to be respectful. However, this guy is terrible. I personally been getting my nails done for years & I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH DISRESPECT!! He really need to learn manners & to never demand someone (a client) to place their hand/arm a certain way without politely asking. It's called CUSTOMER SERVICE! I will never go back to him & never recommend him to anyone I know. On top of that, he doesn't even use the plastic disposal protectors for PEDICURES!!! First off, i am very picky with my nails, and I have the terrible habit of keeping my dislikes to myself and then never going back to the nail salon. I've had several of those instances occur already, and I feel so blessed to have come across Chai on Yelp. He is a patient perfectionist who sees nails as empty canvases for art, and it really shows in his work. I've asked him to do different shapes which he has executed perfectly. I even asked him to do a subtle design on my ring fingers (something I never do). The first time didn't work out so well, even though it looked beautiful, because the rhinestones started falling off (Im not the most gentle with my hands - and I type all day long). Needless to say, Chai showed his professionalism by taking me in and fixing them and giving me a design that I absolutely love but never would have gone with. On top of it all he handed me a $10 bill and said it was the difference between both designs. I was in awe, you don't come across honestly of that extent very frequently. My sister and I both got full sets with dipping powder and were very satisfied with the results. We're visiting from California and called Saturday morning and were able to get appointments for 1230p! It must have been luck! I am sooo picky about who does my manicures and after going to multiple places in Dallas, I'm happy to say I've finally found my guy. I got a gel manicure here a month ago and despite using my hands a lot, there wasn't a single chip on my nails, not even a tiny one. I was so excited to return again. Chai is meticulous about your nails and always makes sure to be very careful when doing them. If you call, it's easy to make an appointment and he usually seems to stay well past 5 pm. The shop itself is located in a salon. When you first walk in it's a barber shop but if you walk straight to the back you'll find Chai. Prices are also reasonable.
