I was really looking forward to going here as my good friend highly recommended it. I was very disappointed with my experience. I couldn't find parking and had to park 3+ blocks away. I had an appointment and my esthetician was 25 minutes late.The tv was playing the screen saver the entire time I was there. I asked two different people if we could turn something on and nobody seemed to know where the remote control was and didn't bother to look for it even though there were plenty of people sitting around without clients. I really liked the color I chose but after leaving and really looking at my nails, 6/10 were extremely crooked. I had to go home and try to reshape them myself. :/ read more

I have been going to salons for many years and like to think that I know quality when I see it. I have also been in the hospitality industry for close to 25 years so I like to think that I know quality service as well. Having a manicure and pedicure at this salon is an excellent experience and would highly recommend it to everyone. Not only does Mercede do a group job but she also runs and manages an excellent salon and expects her employees to provide the same excellent experience to all who come through her door. I have read the other reviews and I see I am not alone in my opinion with the exception of one and I think that perhaps this person did not go to the same salon as the rest of us. For months and months I searched for a nail spa that 1) was open on Sundays and 2) was clean and modern and thankfully I came across Nails By Mercede!!! I tried them out shortly after their Grand Opening and I keep going back. I love that they have a large selection of OPI Gels with matching color for the toes (no more mismatching for me)and the quality of work is excellent. Not only are the prices very reasonable, they offer many services. The staff is always welcoming and professional. I look forward to my visits, nothing like a glass a wine, conversation and leaving with pretty nails and toes :) If you are looking for new nail spa, or are just curious, go check them out- you won't be disappointed. read more

I am totally obsessed with this place. After skipping around from salon to salon and not finding a good one for a very long time I finally found a salon I am happy to be a regular at. This place does a great job. I like getting stiletto shaped acrylics and most places I've been to don't do a great job, here my nails always come out fabulous. I get compliments everywhere I go and am constantly recommending this place. Another thing is that I am really OCD about my hands and toe's matching, they have matching toe nail polishes for each gel polish so I never have to worry about that. The last time I was here I got my brows done and Mercede did an awesome job. I will be back tomorrow for a set change and a pedi, I'm so excited! read more

Just wanted to update my review to advise that I returned for a gel-fill and the experience was unfavorable! My technician was the most cockiest and unprofessional I have seen. I mean.. who is on their cell phone during an appointment! After he made the comment that he's related to the owner and not scared what anyone tells her...I knew that was my last visit. If you're looking for a good nail tech and a relaxing experience, this is not it. Employees and owner are rude and obnoxious.

I used to go to this place all the time but the past several times have been sub par and my most recent experience was horrible. I purchased the Classic pedi because I didn't want the oils and add ons that the other options included. However, the Classic was a step above the Mini so I at least thought I would have left with soft feet... not so. Angela did my pedi and she was very rough when using the tools, which made for a very uncomfortable pedi experience. Since I was getting a mani, too, she pulled out the nail drill to remove my old polish. I asked her not to use the drill because I have had a few techs that filed too much and left my nails too thin and as a result, I had to stop getting my nails done. She rudely snapped at me and asked how I thought she was supposed to get the polish off. I assured her that everyone else just filed the top coat and then soaked my nails. She persisted until the tech next to her told her to just get the file. (I loathe pushy people who are providing a service that I AM PAYING FOR!) That's when the huffing and puffing began at least a dozen times until the end of the pedi. That doesn't exactly make for a relaxing experience. I will say that her massage was decent and she chilled out by the end of it. After that, she waxed my eyebrows and I should have requested someone different at that point but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I had been growing my eyebrows out for some time after shaping them too thin. I specifically told her that I wanted shape not thin brows and even joked with her that I'd grown them out nicely for her. Needless to say, they're way too thin and arch shaped... not what I was going for at all! Thankfully, someone else did my mani and it's decent but the clear coat is all over my cuticle in a couple of nails... if that's ever happened to you, you know what that's like as it starts to grow out. And I apologize if this sounds like I'm nitpicking at this point but the girl who calls everyone "Sweetie" called across the salon to a customer to ask how much she wanted to leave as a tip. How unprofessional and just plain tacky. At that point it just became the nail in the coffin for me. read more

Disappointing. The blonde nail tech couldn't have spent less time with me or been more sloppy if she tried. Nail polish all over the sides of my big toes and she cut one of my nails so short that it started to bleed, despite me specifically requesting that she not cut so short. This place is awesome. I'm obsessed and can't wait to go back. A friend Reccomended this salon to me when I told her I was having a difficult time finding a good and reasonable nail salon in Orlando. Upon entering my sister and I were greeted. Then the owner herself offered us wine. Such a nice touch. Both our manis and pedis moved at a perfect pace. During the manicure, ones hands are dipped into a wax that softens. This was different and really nice. I got a regular manicure with regular polish. Mercede made sure my nails dried in between every coat, informing me that this will help them stay on longer. She took her time and made my sister and I laugh and really enjoy our experience. 10 days past before I had to take my polish off. I couldn't believe how flawless it looked. I've never had a regular manicure stay on for that long. She did advise me to apply top coat regularly, this is something I normally practice though. She is so cool, down to earth and customer oriented. Everyone speaks English so there's no misunderstanding. Prices are very reasonable $30 for mani and basic pedi. I look forward to returning. So glad I found my nail salon. read more

I hate to leave a negative review, especially about a small woman-owned business in my community. This used to be my go-to nail place. But, Mercede treated my elderly mother so horribly that I simply cannot support Mercede any more. My mother is 77, hard of hearing, was in town and took her four granddaughters for manicures and pedicures. They all got done at different times, and couldn't sit next to each other for any of their treatments. When my mom asked if they could sit together, Mercede snapped, "Well if you had made an appointment, maybe they could have." Ok, fine, fair point. The kicker was at the end, when my mom (remember: she's 77 and hearing impaired) didn't understand the price (because she couldn't hear or understand the tech for whom Enlgish was not her primary language), Mercede got up from the station where she was working, walked over to the register station, and launched into my mom with something like, "How dare you ask us to do all this work for these kids and think you can get out of here without paying?" Merecede carried on, while my mom stood there with her jaw dropped, having no idea what she had done wrong. It was so bizarre, so inappropriate, and so inhumane. There are several much nicer (in terms of owners and the aesthetics of the salon) along Edgewater Drive. Will not be returning to Nails by Mercede. read more

I had the best time at Nails by Mercede! I've never been in anywhere to get a pedicure alone so I thought it might be strange but I didn't want to leave. They were SLAMMED on a Sunday when I went in. I called ahead and let them know I was coming in so I didn't have to wait. I walked in, had my feet soaking and had a glass of wine in my hand within 2 minutes. The pedicure prices are very fairly priced. I got the Ultimate ($40) and it came with a soak, scrub, paraffin, gel massage, oil massage and polish. I might have left something out, all I know is it was the most relaxing hour I've had in a very long time! You can add a basic manicure to any pedicure for only $10. I had to take the deal! I ended up getting a gel manicure which cost more in the end but it was so well done. Its been 4 days and it looks like I just finished painting my nails. They are perfect! Everyone working was over the top friendly and professional and I had some great conversations. It was unlike any other nail salon I've ever been to. Usually all the employees are talking among themselves but everyone here was chatting together. It was almost like we all knew each other. Very cool experience! I'm definitely coming back and bringing a friend or 2 with me next time...even thought I know now I will survive a pedicure alone :) read more

I am an 84 y/o man with arthritis so I am not flexible enough to cut my toe nails; therefore I rely on others for a pedicure. I tried this facility today for the first time and will not return. I get more for my money at the spa up the street. Wanda cut my big toe and spent much of the time trying to stop the bleeding, Sure hope it doesn't get infected. I stopped by after realizing that Mercede had opened her own shop- she had been wonderful in her previous location so I knew this would be even better. While Mercede had another client I was able to get a gel manicure from another tech who did an equally fantastic job. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was the product and not the service- they used an Essie gel polish which looks beautiful on, however I have had issues with every Essie gel lifting off my nail. About an hour and a half after leaving I noticed 3 nails were lifting already! I never have this problem with OPI gel so I went back to the salon and while my original tech showed a bit of frustration with me, Mercede was quick to tell me that they would fix it and it wasn't a problem. I believe Lon was the the fixer upper and she did so quickly and the nails with OPI looked great and lasted over 2 weeks. I'm about to head back this afternoon to get a new color. The decor and location are awesome also- a huge step up I look forward to going back! read more

I have been to this salon 3 times now. I grew up in college park, but no longer live there. I was in the area visiting family and decided to stop in and check it out. I have been doing gel for a couple of years and have tried tons of salons and rarely get a gel mani that lasts 2 weeks. All 3 times I have had a different tech and they have all done a fabulous job! The color selection is great with matching polish to all of the OPI gel and the environment is always enjoyable. They offer you a glass of wine when you arrive and play a movie in the background or sometimes a nice pandora station instead. The entire staff is friendly and inviting. My current gel polish has now been on for 3 weeks and two days with no peeling and I just got a small chip on one nail yesterday. I can't wait to go back tomorrow! So many other salons in my area, but I will always make the drive to Nails by Mercede!! Highly recommend! read more

The girl (who I think is the owner, Mercede) was too busy chatting/singing to properly greet some guests (when she did nicely greet others). She offered wine to some but not me. This salon deserves another review from me. This time I came in for a pedicure and I loved it. They get you seated with a glass of wine and a menu to choose from on which pedicure service you prefer. I went with the Signature Pedicure which includes trimming nails, cleaning cuticles, scrub, oil massage, hot towel, lotion, and polish of course. You also get to choose an essential oil and I did the Lemongrass scent. Heavenly! This time brought the hubby and he enjoyed it! read more

A great little salon in College park! I have been going to Phi Phi for a while for gel mani/pedi. She does an awesome job and I can usually get 3 weeks and maybe sometimes 4 out of one of her mani's. I am not someone who wears gloves or babys my hands, so that's pretty impressive. Mercedes the owner is wonderful and really makes sure the place runs like a well oiled machine. You're treated like a valuable customer the moment you walk in. If having a beverage or wine while you get pampered is important to you, that's also a perk! The place is always hopping, so I would recommend an appointment instead of walking in and possibly having to wait. There's rarely an empty nail station or ped chair. read more

I went to this salon for the first time yesterday. When I walked in I thought the place was beautiful and very relaxing. I go to get a pedicure and the lady seemed very nice but I feel like she did a rush job. When you get a signature pedicure it includes some kind of bs oil they rub your feet with so I didn't notice how bad my heels were until I got home and took a shower. When I got out the shower I noticed I still had some dead skin on my heels that looked horrible. I called them back to tell them about it since I had just left and it looked like I didn't even get a pedicure at all. The lady was so rude that I spoke with on the phone. Didn't offer to fix it at all. Only thing she said was we will talk to the technician. I said that's cool and all but can you fix my feet? The girl on the phone then said, and what would you like us to do seeing that you already left? So I said because I noticed it after I left now it's my fault? She then hung up on me. This salon is overpriced because the area it's in and the service is horrible. Beware!!! read more

They do HAIR too!! Felicia is new to the area but definitely not new to doing hair. With 20+ years of experience I gave her a try and LOVED the results! I got a full head of highlights and honestly.. It's was the lightest my hair has ever been without bleaching it. She did an amazing job and I'll definitely be back! Never disappointed when I come into Nails by Mercede! I usually just get a pedicure when I come here, and I love the quality and the price! They always have movies and music playing, and the staff is so friendly! The classic pedicure is top notch and lasts super long. I went there I believe last month for the first time with my boyfriend because we were in the area and were looking for a place to get a pedicure. It wasn't the first or even the second choice but it was a Friday afternoon and none of the other places nearby had any availability (and I'm glad we stumbled upon this gem). We called and they were eager to have us come in as soon as possible. We got there and they immediately seated my boyfriend while I picked out a polish and 5 minutes later I was in a chair next to my boyfriend. They have a wonderful range in options for pedicures including a basic "foot only" pedicure which if i'm remembering correctly is basically just soaking your feet and removing/adding polish ($15). They then had i believe a $20 option which included your leg being lotioned/massaged and the hot towel I think. Then they had a $30 option which included the leg massage with lotion, hot towel, and an exfoliating treatment & oil massage. That's the one I opted for and it was amazing! They had other more expensive options but I'm not sure what all that included because I was sold on the $30 option. I'm not sure if her name was Cara or Kayla who was my nail tech but she was great! Everyone in the place was very friendly and I felt very comfortable and like one of their regulars. The chairs were great. They were clean (which is my BIGGEST concern). I plan on going again very soon with some girlfriends and hopefully have the same experience I had last time. I can't speak on the manicures or the waxing services because I did not have that need when I went but everyone else who was getting manis seemed to be enjoying themselves. read more
