Been looking for a while for a good place and Nails by Mercede is the place for exceptional service. I had gel manicure done by Lon. She is a friendly as it gets with her bubbly personality but she knows her stuff. She asks first what do you want, suggests before proceeding forward and asks questions to make sure you are happy with the finished process. My error was not asking the price was. I saw a price on the price list....gel fill $30 but was charged $50. I had the old acrylic completely removed and replaced on my natural nails. My fault for not asking. I have to admit....it had been the best job done on my hands since moving to Florida. I do plan to return in the near future for the gel last close to 3.5 weeks. Downfall, the color selection for gel is ok. I prefer textured colors, sparkles or heat changing color selections. NOTE.....Be aware of where you park, you will be towed if you are parked in the law firm area. The parking is much narrower those the storefront, esp if you have a SUV. read more

I had my acrylics for far too long without getting them redone (3 weeks) and I needed them done ASAP. Holidays mess up open hours for most places, but I saw this salon on Yelp and figured I'd give it a try. I made an appointment. I was about 10 minutes late (never came to this side of town) and that wasn't a problem. The woman who did my nails was Lan. She was super sweet & kept me entertained as she fixed, reshaped and brought my nails back to life. They even had Clueless on the TV which was fun to watch while being pampered. Lan was incredibly fast without jeopardizing the quality of work and within 45 minutes, I had a full set of nails with gel polish done. I've gotten many compliments on my nails since then! I have been waiting to use the gift card that I was given from Christmas for months now. Just ended up being a bad experience for me. The check-in desk is all the way past the manicure stations. I just stood there waiting for some customer service. None of the women said anything. Keep in mind, there were two customers in there. They looked up and continued to sit on their phones and pretended not to see me... Not about that. It was an awful experience picking out nude colors and gel/ regular sets. There was a messy, unorganized system and the front desk woman was not too familiar with the process. I asked for one color, no gel. Found another color, no gel match. The front desk agent spent a lot of time looking for the color I wanted. She came back and told me they didn't have any of those in the gel. I was pretty surprised considering these were very basic nail colors (nudes). The technician that was assigned to me (Tony) assured me the 3rd color I had picked, they have! Unfortunately, Tony's service was not relaxing nor done properly. I have never had a technician NOT clean the dirt out from under my nails but buff my nails with a machine... There were very basic parts of a pedicure skipped. Cleaning under the nails, hand rub, quality! Her quality of work was poor and she clearly seemed to be in a rush. I was hesitant to get the regular pedicure due to her nail quality. I decided to commit and go all in. I paid the $25 for the worst pedicure I truly have ever had. Tony skipped steps once again, she didn't even put anything in the water for the soak. She kept cleaning the tools in the water (way too long)-GROSS! Overall unprofessional, the color was wrong, she rushed it and skipped steps-- I was so uncomfortable the whole time. I can do a better job, 100%. There is a line in the toe from where she went thicker and thiner with the polish. Oh, and the polish on the fingers was not the same as my fingers. I really didn't want pink nails because I am going to a wedding with a blue dress but guess who has pink nails, nude toes, and a blue dress! Me! I am super disappointed and I can't stop thinking about the $60 I gave for that experience. -Tony, care about your work. It defines you and you showed you really don't care about what you do. I'm honestly shocked that I have to write this review, but I felt that the way I was treated today had to be one of the most unacceptable experiences ever. The customer service we received was appalling. We go into get our nails fixed because the technicians didn't do a great job the first time around and instead of the owner apologizing on behalf of her staff she began to tell us that pretty much it was our fault because we didn't let our nails dry long enough, when the prior day we were there for over an hour after we got our nails done. I didn't appreciate how I was spoken to. She made me feel like I was incompetent. The first time I ever went to the salon I had a good experience the tech was polite and took her time. Now the second time I brought someone with me and we made at appointment, them knowing we were coming in. First the front desk receptionist was rude, one of the lady's told me to sit in down the chair and she came over aggressively telling I wasn't supposed to sit there and I needed to go back up to the front and not to listen to her. Then my nail tech came over and it just kept going, extremely rushed and the massage was bs. I could have painted my toes better than this, I have spots where the polish isn't thick enough and you can still see my toes. Also instead of soaking my cuticles then using the tool to clean them up, she just stuck the solution on and started hacking away at my feet. Usually I love, love,LOVE this place, however I went for a fill right before the new year, I always do gel color on acrylics. The tech didn't put a top coat on before applying the actual color, when I asked she said they didn't do it that way. My nails started chipping 3 days later, and 2 nails the Polish peeled completely off after barely a week. I have been going to get my nails done at Nails by Mercede for a couple of years now and they are the best when it comes to pedicures and manicures, I am certainly never disappointed! So there was no question on where I wanted to get my bridal nails done as well as bringing all my girls to get pampered before my wedding. Well, Mercede went above and beyond in making sure I was the happiest bride that day and everything went smoothly and that it was exactly the way the bride wanted it. We were able to bring in some champagne and snacks and enjoy them while getting our nails done, they even set up a little area just for us in the pedicure room. I was the happiest that I could be with how my wedding nails turned out thanks to Mercede taking the most time out of her day perfecting them! She gives awful manicures and pedicures and I, along with a couple of my friends have had ingrown toenails removed by her that turned out bad. She cut my nails so short to the point where it hurt to touch because the skin under my nail was exposed. They have a great choice of gel nail colors and the gels here last me two and a half weeks and I use my hands a lot as I bartend and am constantly on my laptop doing school work. Wanda is the best, so personable and pays close attention to detail when she does my nails. My nails always look flawless! The salon is very clean and trendy looking. I have been going here for about 1.5 years so needless to say I'm a huge fan. This establishment is clean, professional, affordable and they do a wonderful job. The only reason it's not 6 stars (yes I know it's limited to 5 stars) is because I set up for a mani pedi for myself and a pedi for my fiancé to join. He's a man and doesn't want to sit here while I get my nails done for an hour and likes to join when I'm finishing up my nails. They didn't wait for him to arrive after I kept telling them he is coming when my nails are closer to being done which was at 7pm (they close at 8) he arrived at 720 when I was on my last round of curing my nails. everyone on staff left without letting me, the client know , so he walked in with both of us expecting service and couldn't get his pedi so he ended up having to leave so I could get mine done since it is my birthday and I missed out on the experience of both of us getting relaxation together which was really disappointing because that was the whole point. Other than that they do an amazing job as always, just wish they had more patience and understanding to wait for a paying client. And before y'all start, I work in healthcare directly with hundreds of patients a day during a pandemic so I understand wanting to get home but just don't clear out the building before it's even closing time, healthcare workers deserve a spa day too :) read more

I had really high hopes for this salon, but I just spent 3 hours in it. From 5pm to close, which is 8pm (not because I wanted to). Spent three hours there because the First lady who started doing my nails took about 45 minutes to do the acrylic part of a fill which is fine. I had my color picked out which was a pale yellow gel, she started painting them and it was really thick from the acrylic and the gel so I asked if she wouldn't mind making my nails thinner because I don't like thick nails. So she says "it the gel make it thick like that nothing I can do" so I said okay well I'm paying for this, I don't mean to be rude but I don't like how thick they're turning out" so she says "well then you can't have this color go pick new color" so I can't have the color I wanted so I went and picked another color. She starts to paint them with the new color, and stops halfway through and says "you can't do this color either too thin too sheer it will do the same thing" I've NEVER had this issue with a gel polish before. So I asked her again "will you please try thinning the actual acrylic out before putting the gel polish on" and she says no so she tries to make me pick yet another color, and another nail tech there asks me "you've come up for a different color a lot! Are you being indecisive?" So I say "no,my nail lady told me the two colors I'd picked don't work and make them too thick and she won't thin the acrylic so I'm just getting frustrated" so this lady decides she's going to finish with her client and then wants to fix mine. I say okay because at this point, whatever right. So she asks me what my original color I wanted was and I showed her, she thins and evens out the acrylic on my nails, and then proceeds to perfectly paint my nails THE ORIGINAL color I wanted that I was told "wouldn't work". I was trying my hardest not to be rude to either lady but you could tell I was visibly upset, I mean I didn't want to spend 3 hours in a nail salon and be told three times my colors I wanted won't work. But there was not one bit if the staff/management trying to do anything to make me want to come back, no discount, no apology, nothing. I'd love to come back to the second lady who did my nails beautifully, her name is Tony, she's terrific and saved my nails. However I don't agree with the lack of concern for customers satisfaction. ALSO their website definitely doesn't list the correct prices-says $20 for a UV gel acrylic fill (sounded a little more affordable than most places but it looked like the rest of the nail services menu was about it too). NOPE. $40 for a gel fill!- JUST. A fill! That means a full set is around $70???? That's crazy. So I spent 3 hours being upset about how they were turning out to have the lady not want to work with me, got sent to another lady, and no one in management cared. read more

Well a client of mine came in last week highly recommended this place, so I made a mental note to self to go and try it out. I live in College Park and there are several nail salons but few of them open on Sunday. The ones that are, lets just say are a bit over priced, so I was happy to give them a try this afternoon!
