I had high hopes when I walked into Nails by Mercedes. The staff was friendly, they accept walk-ins, and while I waited I was even offered a glass of wine, which was a nice touch. I asked for a buildable gel fill, needed two nails replaced that had chipped/broken, and chose a simple nude color. The nail tech did a great job and I was happy with how my nails turned out. Unfortunately, everything went downhill at checkout... I was told my total for just the fill was $98.64 BEFORE tip. I was genuinely shocked. I've had this exact service done at multiple salons in Orlando for $50-$60! For the price I paid at Nails by Mercedes for just a fill, I could have gotten a fill along with a pedicure anywhere else. I immediately expressed my surprise to the gentleman at the checkout desk, but he seemed completely uninterested and unbothered. Had pricing been communicated upfront, I would have declined the service and gone elsewhere. The lack of transparency is what made my experience especially frustrating. While the work itself was fine, it simply was not worth the extreme markup they are charging. If you're considering coming here, be sure to ask for full pricing in advance, otherwise you may end up with an unexpectedly overpriced bill. I personally won't be returning. read more

Went here for my birthday, I don't really get my nails done often. I normally do my own, I just wanted to do something nice for myself. When getting the gel manicure, I told her I wanted almond. But shape of all my nails are so sloppy, are not done to a curved point, and the gel polish is all over my skin and cuticles. I know this manicure will lift in the next few days, it already is now, and I got it done today. The nail tech was very friendly, but only gave me the option of a classic or adding on scented scrubs. Online I saw there was a massage option etc. The polish looked great and has been holding on for a week, however, my heel is still rough and my cuticles on my fingers are a mess. I had a 10/10 manicure experience but a 0/10 post manicure experience resulting in a 3/5 review. I got an incredible fresh set acrylic manicure and design by their nail technician Niki. The design turned out better than the inspiration photo! I was beyond happy with my results. I had been going to this technician at a different location and followed her to this location. Sadly after this appointment Niki blocked my number and ghosted me. I was really disappointed, I even reached out to the salon to see if they would schedule me with her because I adored her work however the salon also refused to schedule me with her. I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism by both the tech and the salon. I'm not sure what provoked a change in her not wanting me as a client at her new location. I've been meaning to find a good spot for nails and I haven't been anywhere since we moved to Orlando. A friend recommended this place and passed my Yelp QC check so I booked a spot. I was taken right away when I arrived even though I was a little late. They did my pedicure first and it was off to a rocky start because I didn't pay attention to the water and it started to overflow. They offered me my choice of water, red or white wine. That's always a plus and they had massage chairs too. I decided on the standard pedicure for now and it was nice. For my manicure, they did a really good job. She massaged my arms and hands a long time. She didn't make me wash my hands, which was cool because they normally make you at other salons. She also put oil on my nails to make sure they didn't smudge. Great service, really good experience for my first mani/pedi in Orlando and wine. Enough said! Can't wait to come back! read more

If you need care for the soles of your feet - that's offered for only $25 and up for additional spa options (hot stone, etc.) And, all manicures are just $10 more. This nail salon is HUGE, like massive. They have a massage room, and a huge room dedicated to just pedicures. I was super excited to get a pedicure here, the reviews were good however, I left super disappointed. I picked a nail color and made my way back to the pedicure station. My nail tech started out good, and she was very friendly during the whole process, but when it came time to put the nail polish on, it seemed she was having a bit of trouble with the polish. She ended up putting nail polish remover into the nail polish bottle about four times while painting my nails. This caused the nail polish to come out splotchy and uneven on my nails. She didn't even paint all the way up to the cuticle, the polish is just so uneven and bumpy. While cleaning up the polish around my nails, the nail tech grabbed a used orange stick from her caddy and dipped that into nail polish remover and dragged it around my nail. I know it was used because she took it out of her caddy with dried red nail polish on both ends and it just looked dirty. This place just didn't feel clean, and when I left, the bottoms of my feet were so itchy and had to wash them as soon as I got home to get some relief. I think this nail salon can be amazing once the employees receive some hygiene training. I don't think I will return, there are many other great options close by. read more

4 Stars for fab nails, and a non-stuffy place to get your gab on with a friend. Let me start by addressing the elephant in the room- the name. Though every fiber of your being will want to say "Nails by MercedeS," resist. It is "Nails by Mercede." Now that we've covered that, let's move on to the service. My girlfriend and I made appointments so we could get mani pedis side by side. When we arrived we picked out nail colors and began. I opted against the pedicure (I'm weird about them and don't like the tubs with jets) but watched my friend get one and it looked pleasant. I opted for gel nail polish and had my nails filed in almond shape and the technician was able to file them a bit shorter while keeping the shape, which was great. We weren't offered wine (as mentioned in some reviews), but that's ok because I wasn't expecting it. It's been two weeks since the gel manicure and there's not been a single chip! They look really good and may last another week! The interior itself is nothing fancy at all. They have a row of pedicure chairs and a long table across from them for manicures. There are a few TVs (playing Friends!) with subtitles. Overall, basic, but not unpleasant. And it's a nail salon, so the smell of chemicals is pretty intense (you get used to it). All-in-all, I'd definitely return for another manicure and am so glad my friend suggested it. Oh yeah, and they have mood-changing gel nail polish. For real. I saw a lady get it and it changes color. It was magic or witchcraft, but either way, it was awesome. read more

i used to love this place, i did. after a few years i returned to orlando and needed my nails done desperately as 2 had broken off. i made an appointment for 12 and it took legitimately 2 hours to do a refill. 30 minutes out of that was just painting my nails. i really tried to stay positive the entire time but i never knew what was happening at any point. i've been getting my nails done for 4+ years and i have never been so confused while getting a refill. the lady was nice. however... i don't think she knew how to do an acrylic refill. one of my broken nails she ripped off causing it to bleed & she still continued to put acrylic on that nail. the other she didn't take the old acrylic completely off before putting new on. my nails are bumpy, unevenly shaped, cuticles are flooded and the paint is patchy. my nails have never looked this bad and i'm so worried about the nail that was ripped off with acrylic sitting on top. i'm terrified about an infection as i can't properly clean out any of the blood but it hurts too much to even think about removing. i really wasn't going to leave a review or even think about it but this was just not a good job at all. read more

horroble Customer service!!! i called around 11am to make an appointment at 2pm receptionist said couldn't but a 1pm spot was available gave her my name appointment made. i get there about 5 min earlier. receptionist said they are running late. thinking she thought I was a walk in I said: I made an appointment which re responded you are not in the book the person that answers didn't tell me. its goung to be at least 30min. i said you should made sure people that answer are able to take an appointment her response YOu call before we oppened (not true they open at 10am) i say if it was closed why answer? she say well don't call! I hate giving reviews like this when the staff is really nice and everything was done in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the quality of the work is just not there. I usually get the dip powder done elsewhere which lasts me between 3-4 weeks. Just wanted to try here since it's a more convenient location. I got dip powder mani and a regular pedi done here and my pedicure chipped after a few days, and my dip powder started lifting after just a week. It has now been (almost) two weeks and 6 of my fingers have already had the entire nail lift and pop off, kinda disappointing for paying so much. read more

I definitely live at the nail salon...my visit lasted a good 2 and a half hours. Not because they were busy but my horribly done gel overlay didn't last a week and the previous salon 'Winter Park Nails' did a fill which caused an infection because it wasn't applied properly. Water got between my real nail and the product and started cracking. Thank God Alyssa noticed and had me do a soak off from the "gel overlay". Apparently, I was cheated because my overlay wasn't gel but acrylic with gel top coat. Not what I asked for but she mentioned that this method is best to keep my long nails strong. My real nails are thin so this investment keeps them from breaking. No fake nails needed. I decided on the same overlay but did pink and white on my natural nail. I also got a gel pedicure...total $110 with $10 tip. No AMEX here ladies..cash or other major logo. Yes that's expensive but Alyssa pointed out where my nails were turning green and I appreciated her honesty. I saw the discoloration. I kept thinking why my nails were looking so badly after a week. When your fill is literally flaking and lifting no technician should do a fill. You are supposed to start fresh. Not many technicians tell the truth. She said start fresh and that is what I had in mind when I called. I'm happy with my nails and glad the infection got caught before it became worse. Alyssa is Mercede's sister so now I'm sort of caught between which salon I'm going to since she has her own shop. It's great they help each other and I paid the price to save my nails. They are pretty and very well done. I will see her again in 3 weeks. The shop was clean and it was nice to have so many people ask if I needed anything to drink. read more

Mercede is an eyebrow magician! I swear she is. She started doing my eyebrows 2 months ago and said, "don't touch them until I see you next" and I did just that and BAM! They match and are striking! I get so many compliments on them now. Thank you for helping with something I had no idea how to attack. Based on my Yelp review, I have been going here now, faithfully, for a year and a 1/2! They are great with appointments and even if you walk in, they will let you know how long and try their best to fit you in as soon as possible. They just expanded here as well, once 1 main room, now they have 2! The word is spreading. The ladies like to have fun when they work, movies, music, wine, chit chat. It's really a fun experience. If you haven't checked it out yet, do yourself a favor and stop in and see these ladies. Still appreciate the state of the art setup since they built this salon from the ground up, they have full ventilation over their nail stations so no stuffy smell of acetone or any harsh odors some nail places may have when they don't have the correct ventilation. Having a nail emergency and needing a place to help me fix it, I drove up Edgewater Dr. because I remembered having seen a new Nail Salon. Found it! Checked the reviews, saw Colleens and since she had recommended Tiffany in Alchemy to me (who I adore) I was in like Flynn. It was a Saturday morning and I strolled in hoping to make an appointment for another day but ALAS! Julie could see me immediately. Julie is the sweetest lady and she looked at my nails, and took care of them like the pro that she is! Full set of pink and white in 50 mins! And they are gorgeous! I really, really love this place! Unfortunately it isn't close to my house but I may consider making the drive just to see them. My friend and I called at the very last minute for pedicure appointments and they were able to accommodate us without a problem. The salon is clean and the staff is friendly and professional! I'm so happy with my toe nail polish which was recommended by my nail tech, Kayla. The color is "flip flop fantasy". My brother and I were greeted warmly and offered beverages: water or red/white wine ;) We both had the classic pedicure and I had a gel manicure/classic manicure for him. Average cost $50 for me and $30 for him. What always impresses me is the cleanliness of a place and especially how friendly the techs are.
