They know everyone's name that comes thru the door because of the numerous return customers. It's like family to them. My first time at Nails Now was just a day or so ago and I can definitely say I found my new nail salon! They are great and their prices rock as well. My sister and I went into the salon, I had made an appt for noon. We were greeted by the man I spoke to on the phone and he asked us to pick our colors for our manicures. I had a lady named Laura. She is not very talkative but does very good work. She did a nice hand and arm massage and I liked that she asked me to take off my jewelry before just rubbing lotion all over it (which has happened to me before). One of my biggest pet peeves with getting my nails done is when they miss a side of your nail, however, she made sure EVERY piece of my nail was covered! The lady who was doing my sisters nails was very talkative, which is something I like. I don't really like to sit there with awkward silence. So while my nails were drying I was talking to my sisters nail tech and she was very funny. I just wish I would have caught her name! Overall the place is very clean, there is no overwhelming smell of chemicals, they offer waxing, manicures, pedicures, and so on. The manicure only cost $13. Also, to get a mani and a pedi together was only $35. And I am pretty sure that a gel/shelac nail set was $33. I was very pleased with my experience and will definitely be going back! read more

The nail handling is rough, so much scraping on the gel and also cuticle removal that it damaged all of my fingernails. The ambient PlayStation music on the audio system is also kind of irritating. Although the people were very nice, I won't go back. read more

Update 2/21/13: I had my nails filled with acrylic last week and they looked awful but not they are coming up already. The tech was rushed when she did me as someone brought dinner in and I think she was ready to eat. I am going to now have to go somewhere else to get my nails fixed. Disappointed.I may try them again for a pedicure, but in my business perfect nails are essential and they just didn't do it. I have been looking for a clean reasonably priced nail place for quite some time when my the gal I used to use moved to an expensive spa. I get acrylic fills and have literally been to many of the Asian stores in both Sarasota and University Park, most were unfriendly, fast and my nails did not stay or look good. A coworker had really nice nails and I asked where she went. She said Nails Now and she used Lilly. First the place is small, Lilly was in fact super friendly. I needed a polish change on my toes and she did a fabulous job and went beyond to clean and file. There were two other woman getting pedicures (they have four chairs) and I was watching the techs and the were giving the full spa pedicure with massage ($25)I was so relaxed I wished I had booked a full pedicure. The fill she did was beautiful, perfect shape and thickness. The fill was a reasonable $18. They are located on Bay Street which is the side street across from Epstein bagles in a shopping plaza right by Tamiami and also right on my way home from work which is the icing on the cake! I would make an appointment, ask for Lilly or one of the other gals. There is one male who seemed rather unfriendly I think he is the owner. read more

My mom has been going to Nails Now forever and has been raving about their pedicures so I decided to check it out while I was in town for a visit. They have a good selection of polish (mostly OPI) and new spa pedicure chairs. Everything seemed clean and the staff was friendly. They are Vietnamese, but don't spend the whole pedicure talking to each other in Vietnamese (I hate when this happens since I am paranoid that they are talking about me!). The pedicure was really good - not at all rushed, polish turned out well and the foot and leg massage was both good and long. I would definitely go back. $25 for a pedicure. read more

I visited based on Katie's recommendation, and the pedicure was as good as she said. Clean, no wait, good color selection (Opi and Essie), and very nice massage chairs. The staff were friendly and courteous, and the technician took plenty of time to clean up dead skin and calluses and give my nails a good trim. Her massage was thorough and relaxing. I went in asking for a fill and a new shape and they said they could do it, but the shape I asked for is not the shape I asked for, so I reminded him that I asked for coffin. He acted like he knew what he was doing, but he did the shape wrong again. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he had trouble figuring out how to fix what he already did. He ended up just piling acrylic on top of my nails, making them ridiculously thick. They ended up the shape I wanted but way shorter than the nails I came in with, which is not what I requested. He tried to overcharge me in the end for way more services than I received and only was willing to meet me in the middle for what I actually got and what he wanted to charge me. In the end, it doesn't look that bad, but if you're a nail tech you should know the difference between different nail shapes. read more
