Booked a 12:30pm appointment Saturday, September 5th. Waited almost 20 minutes until someone finally interacted with me and told me to head upstairs. As a business they should honor a booking or at the very least apologize for the wait. I let the tech (Helen) know that I'm now kind of in a rush since they took me later than my appointment time. Im not sure if things were lost in translation, but she took many pauses to converse and laugh with her coworker throughout the appointment. Even if I weren't in a rush, that is very unprofessional. The main reason I'm writing this review is because of the end result. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a gel x set should look a week old, right after getting them done. Helen placed the nails a significant amount away from my cuticles. She still put in the work, I still tipped her well for the services, but I was not impressed. I plan on giving this salon another chance because it was really great at first. I just hope they can be a little bit more cognizant about booking times and all their customers.

Neither service was terrible, but neither was anything to rave about either. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the behavior between the technicians. I have absolutely no problem with employees speaking their native language while working--I think that's completely normal. But one technician was talking to another, and the other one suddenly said, "shhhhh!" and then laughed while looking in our general direction. Maybe they weren't talking about us, but when you're sitting right there as a customer, it definitely makes you wonder. It came across as unprofessional and uncomfortable. I also noticed that the technicians looked completely different from the last time I was there. I'm wondering if there's been a change in management or staff because the overall experience felt different this time around. The services were *okay*, but between the mediocre results and the uncomfortable interaction, I left thinking, "I'll probably find somewhere else next time." Not a horrible experience, but definitely not one that makes me want to come back.

Tucked away in a small strip mall in Pearl City (further down the street from Longs and Zippy's Pearl City, headed town bound), The Beauty Collective is truly a hidden gem. Rossy (follow her on IG @justfab_nails) is my one and only go-to nail technician. I've been seeing her for years now, and come to think of it, I found her and this amazing salon when they first opened their doors years ago by guess who? Yelp of course! Rossy has helped take care of my nails, does quality nail cleaning, and a great job with gel application. Her prices are very reasonable and her services, top notch. Nail services are by appointment only (text her, it's the best way to get in touch with her and schedule an appointment as she doesn't answer her phone if she's with a client). During your appointment you can expect dedicated time to you and only you. Care is taken and she never rushes. I've always found my visits very relaxing and I can focus on myself for the moment. There's a great selection of nail and gel polishes. I'm a huge fan of her selection of glitters, metallics, and nude colors. Sometimes I feel like matting and others, high gloss - Rossy has got it all. Parking can be a bit tough if your appointment is around 9a or 10-ish because of other businesses, so prepare in advance to get there early. If you have time after your appointment, check out Button Up Cafe. Their breakfast grinds are awesome (check out my yelp review on my experience there).

After wearing them for a day, my nails are in so much pain from the poor placement and gap between my natural nail and acrylic nails. Also I have to be vigilant about lotion, soap and water getting stuck between my nail and the acrylic nails. I tried to take pictures so you can see for yourself but they really don't show how deep the gap goes. This is unsafe and a health hazard. I also originally said that the pedicure service was good and I stand by that part of my original review. However, I thought my toe nail was cut crooked but upon further inspection I realized she missed a whole corner of my nail when she painted my big toe...so that was disappointing to see. Now I have to go spend more money to have the things they messed up fixed. Save you money, don't go here...
