The service and vibe from the lady doing my nails was really weird and lazy to say the least. Starting off strong...she kept trying to force me to pay $47 to get gel nail polish and told me that if I still got regular she was gonna charge me an extra $5 to remove my old gel polish (totaling $37). So you pick and choose when you wanna charge prices now? Next, she took 10 seconds each scrubbing my legs, feet, and lotion onto me. Other salons usually take time massaging my legs and feet, which is part of the experience of getting a pedicure. It just seemed all rushed as if she didn't wanna be there. My last straw, I asked for the receipt after paying and this lady charged me for "re-useable liner" I'm assuming that's for the pedicure chair. Why am I getting charged for that? That's why I'm paying the pedicure service..why is this company charging an extra fee for something that's supposed to come with the service. This nail salon is obviously very money hungry, but won't even put the work in to make it worth the pay. Hana nails is a good and reliable place to get your nails done. However, I will say that the quality of the service differs from one nail tech to another. Some are clearly more skilled than others, but luckily most are very competent. I have had a couple subpar experiences there, but nothing so extreme that it would cause me to not return. Additionally, to avoid being surprised by the total at the end, ask for a price list. There's a charge for almost everything, but that's the case at most salons. It's just a matter of how much they charge for small services like cutting down your nails, changing the shape during a full, charging more if you want them on the long size, etc. read more

I went here a while ago for the first time in a while and now finally leaving a review. I have gone to many different nail salons on the west side. I know what I like and I know how I like my nails done. I called to schedule an appointment the day before. I even told them what I wanted (Full set gel-x and pedicure). When I got there I waited for about 10 minutes even though I showed up 5 minutes before my appointment time. Workers were still coming into the shop. Pedicure: I got seated for my pedicure. The water was lukewarm to cold. Not sure why it was this way. The woman who did my nails was nice and kept talking to her co-workers which is fine by me, but when you repeatedly kept cutting me with the cuticle cutter because you were talking story is not acceptable. She also filed my nail bed so low that it was so sensitive. My toes took two weeks to finally recover. Gel-x nail set: Same lady who did my pedicure did my hands. I should have told her that I was done, but I needed my nails done. When I told her what I wanted she told me, "are you sure you want gel-x?" She tried to talk me into getting acrylic. I told her that I want gel-x. She proceeded with filing my nails so low that it took months to get it back to normal. It did not look like she knew what she was doing. yes, she left bubbles on each and every nail even before the nail polish. Then when I asked for milky pink color gel nail polish she tried to talk me out of it and then gave me what I wanted. My nail beds were burning when she had me put my nails in the curing LED light machine. I paid what was owed and left no tip. I will NEVER return there. read more

Didn't take long, went right at opening time. Shop was clean! My mom got a pedi and she was happy with it, and I got an acrylic full set. Both services together were about $130-140, which is a pretty good deal. Finally out come of my full set is that I do love how they look and the tech took great time to ensure the shape was perfect. Only complaints are that I was nicked on my pinky and started bleeding because she did file a little too much and I didn't notice until I started bleeding. I'm usually a walk in because I never know when I'll be able to get a pedi done after work (work late, kids activities etc). Today I got the older gentleman who was not very good. Asked for the Hana pedi bc I wanted extra cuticle care and callus treatment. Cuticle care felt like he wasn't even clipping anything off. Callus treatment got skipped entirely. He didn't trim my nails very well either. Techs usually clip the sides, but he trimmed some length from my big toe nail and then filed the top of the rest. The lady next to me had started her pedi when I walked in. I finished and paid when she was just starting to get her polish applied. read more

Walked in, signed in to do a Regular Pedicure. Called to chair and (Male) Tech handed me nail color folder then the price book. While he is prepping to do Pedi, I mention to him Regular Pedi. He goes on and finally I see he has the Gel light covering my toes to dry nail color?!?! Thinking he uses it to dry the nail polish faster LOL. Not the best but not the worst. I don't get pedicures super often but decided to treat myself. I think the quality of the polish was what I was most unhappy about. the nail tech was nice, but it chipped after 2 days and typically I can go weeks without it chipping. It took about 30 minutes to get my pedicure started, which made us late for our next appointment. Great nail salon in Ewa. Located next to the Foodland and Longs. The staff are very friendly, efficient, and helpful. I'm definitely coming back for my pedicure. You can call and make an appointment but they also take walk-ins so you may have to wait a little bit for your appointment time. They are clean and offer you the nail file and buffer if you want. They charge a small cleaning fee and it's best to pay in cash to save money. They also do waxing, and lashes. read more

The worse pedicure I ever had. The lady that was doing my pedicure talked in her language and then all the other workers looked my way at my feet. I do have a pinky toe nail that is very tiny. I felt uncomfortable, that they were all looking at it and speaking in their language. She did not even scrub my feet well, less then 5 min and the scrubbing was done. My 8 year old daughter gives a better massage then here. It was so soft and fast. I picked a red color and I got orange. I point to her which color I wanted in the book but she is so quick to look and picked an orange color. I paid more money to get the gel polish and the next day my big toe chipped off. Horrible quality polish especially when you're paying almost $20 more for gel polish and it chips within 24hrs. What a rip off I come to get a pedicure for some me time and to enjoy but this was such an uncomfortable rushed pedicure. This is by far the worst nails & spa on the island. Don't waist your time or money! For much better service, just go a few more minutes to royal nails by Safeway. I don't usually leave bad reviews, unless you really desrve it and this place certainly does. I came here on my anniversary, and let my wife go to royal nails so we can get done at the same time. That was the greatest mistake I ever made. To get my experience there: The lady that did the manicure was rude, and rough trimming my nails. She was rushing to get to the next person and cut to deep while doing my cuticle. I let her know and then she did it again. When the service was done, I still left her a tip, even though she didn't deserve it. I never saw her use or sterilize any of the equipment. Maybe since Im male, I wouldn't know the difference. When I left , a few of my fingers were sore. This soreness never went away on my right index finger and became swollen and infected. I had to go to a doctor and get needle stuck in my hand to numb it, then used a staple to slice it and drain it. This was very painful. He prescribed me antibiotics for the infection, got an x-ray, and had to see a hand specialist. This went on for about 3 months until it finally healed. I went back there and asked for the owner, who said to me that it couldn't have happened there. Im a very busy person, a professional, and would never lie about something this dramatic. It's so bad, that I contacted lawyers because I wasn't satisfied with her response or the letter her lawyer sent me. Now that things have slowed down, I have time to refocus on what happened and it starts with this long review. read more

I've been going here with my mom for several years for our mani/pedi and eyebrows and they have always been so accommodating and made sure my mom was taken cared of but what happened is unacceptable. This is in reference to their lash service. First time- I had an appointment and had to wait over 20 mins before I got into the room. The service itself was good when she finally got to me. I got the hybrid and they were a good length although a few fell out shortly after getting them but overall they've last a bit and good value. Second appt for lash refill - I had an appt and once again I'm waiting...going on 30 mins. I arrived 10 mins early and I hear someone call her the lash person (LG) to see where she at and to tell her I was here. I get NO update , so I don't know if she running late, not showing up. So I assume she still showing up, so I sit down and wait. As I mentioned before it's now 30 mins. Then I get this call from someone else in the salon, wondering if I'm waiting in my car and she was now ready. No sorry, apology or explanation. Really?!? You all should have been ready 30 mins ago. Got to say this place really let me down. The first 2 experiences were good but this last one was the worst visit to any nail salon I've ever had. Mind you, yes I went at 6:30pm but I didn't know they closed at 7. A simple "we don't have time to do a new set" would've sufficed instead of having the acrylic pried off of my nail bed with an art spatula. Also was told "you're sensitive aren't you". Well yes a**hole. Ripping off acrylic doesn't feel all that great. My fingers are pretty sore after all that BS. Bottom line, can't stop anyone from going just beware. I checked out Hana Nails & Spa back in September for an impromptu mani-pedi pampering session. I've held off on writing this review because I was waiting to see how long my polish would stay on my toes, but over two months later, the polish is still holding on tight. It's time to write review because the polish looks like it will outlast my tolerance of this truly stuck on stuff!! My first impression when entering Hana Nails was surprise--where are the racks holding bottles of polish? I'm not sure if this is a covid measure, or just how they always do things, but I was handed a binder which held all of the polish samples and also nail designs. What a great way to keep things looking neat and orderly! Also, all along the walls were closed cabinets, neatly labeled with their contents. The place is neat and clean, and even though they were very busy, I was able to get a same-day appointment, which is very convenient. I went with the most basic mani/pedi service, as I usually do when trying out a place for the first time. I'll give 4 stars because it was very good, but in my mind it was was not "wow, that was the best ever", which would be 5 stars. However, a couple months later, I'd add another 1/2 start just for the staying power of the polish on my toes! The smaller toes have all grown out, but the polish on my big toes is clinging on there, even thwarting my efforts to pick off some of it (I got some, but not all off). the polish has survived many trips to the beach, muddy lo`i (taro patch) work, and my klutzy habit of kicking things like cabinet toe kicks. That's really impressive--I didn't get gel polish. I have no idea what kind of polish they use, but man, I've never had anything last so long. (I cannot comment on my fingernail polish since I'm super hard on my hands and removed it as soon as it started chipping within a couple of weeks). Based on the staying power alone, I'll be back to try the next level of pedi sometime soon. My favorite (former) neighborhood place adds a dab of menthol ointment to their lotion when they do leg/foot massage, which feels so amazing. Maybe Hana offers that in some of their services? I'm willing to bring my own menthol ointment, if that's an option. That would be amazing!! read more
