The technician, Gisselle Paulino :), ripped off the under-eye tape so roughly that it tore my skin, the manager said it is common and happens all the time... during waxes. That's not an excuse for this kind of carelessness especially on someones face. On top of that, Gisselle Paulino, didn't wear gloves at all during the service, and I left with glue still all over my lashes and lash line, even after I pointed it out. When I showed them I was hurt, both the technician and manager brushed it off like it was no big deal. A LOT of attitude from the technician. NO APOLOGY, no help, very dismissive. I ended up having to go to the hospital to get it treated, was dealing with pain, possible scarring, and stress, right before a concert and vacation I had planned. I couldn't even attend the concert the next day because of how bad it was. What really got me was that no one took any accountability. No apology, no follow-up, not even an offer for a refund. I paid $170 for a service that was not only poorly done, but actually harmed me and cost me even more in medical treatment, medication, and missing an event I'd been looking forward to. The customer service here is absolutely terrible. I gave them a chance to respond to my complaint before posting this, but never heard back. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, ESPECIALLY when it comes to anything involving your face or eyes!! Please don't risk going here!!

I have been going to see Melissa for bikini and brow waxing for about two years. I first decided to make an appointment because of the stellar reviews and because her previous Kensington location was walking distance from my house. Although she has since moved, I would not think of going anywhere else at this point because Melissa really is the "bee's knees" (sorry, I had to). Melissa is professional, personable and fun to talk to, which makes the experience of someone peering up your downside far less awkward. She is also just very good at waxing: very little pain/redness and absolutely smooth. She checks in during the entire process to make sure that you are comfortable. I am not over-selling when I tell you that she has consistently given me the best waxes I have ever had. She will also make sure that the wax is aesthetically perfect: even on both sides, every stray hair gone and every rogue one put back in its place. She is meticulously clean and careful, which I appreciate immeasurably during COVID times. The prices are lower than or comparable to other Philly beauty studios that I've frequented. I should mention that I also always request "a la carte" additions to my waxes, so that they are somewhere in-between bikini/full Brazilians. I also would have liked to read into what my service was going to be, all the menu is written in Chinese and when I questioned it on the phone the lady just kept saying so nice soft face. I laid there awkwardly for 20 mins before my boyfriend asked if someone was coming in for me. His masseuse then left and came back five mins later with the other girl in tow. She apologized and got to work. As i said the massage was decent but the lights were on the entire time and music was some Chinese boy band so there was nothing relaxing about the experience. Another employee even opened the door and popped her head in to talk to one of the girls. ‍ It was also supposed to be an aromatherapy massage yet there was zero fragrance uses. When the hour was up for my boyfriend, his masseuse told him he was done and she left while mine finished up. I still have no idea why they even started before both technicians were ready; I would have been happy to wait a few extra minutes to start. The icing on the cake was them reminding us that a tip wasn't included in the price of the Groupon. Pretty ballsy to assume you were getting a tip. I did leave a decent tip because I felt guilty but they deserved nothing. Would not recommend or return.
