Today I called this salon in the morning to see if she was available at the desire time I wanted and she said she wasn't in store so I understood and left it as that. An hour later she calls me, and the call ended it could have been my service or hers wasn't sure. She then texts me "Why you off the phone, I'm from nail Trix , you don't want come just say No" which I found incredibly rude 1 because the call ended 2 I never set an appointment with her. I then explained to her the situation and she misunderstood every thing and told her she didn't have to be rude to me because that was poor customer service of hers. She later starts calling me crazy, and tells me not to come to her salon. Place is clean and neat, Mai and her assistant are very nice and welcoming. However, price is extremely high, I've been to this place couple of times, results are getting worse by the time and always different prices, of course more expensive even if you come a week later they would charge you way more than the original price, even when they had the price chart on display, they still will charge you a lot more. If it bothered you so, much you could have opened your mouth and said something to the manager and she would have gladly gave you your $$ back or fixed the problem. Anyways, I love Nails Trix. Mei is super sweet and so are all of the other employees. They have squeezed me and my 3 sisters in for last minute appointments and even stayed as late as 10:00pm in order to accommodate us. This place is relaxing, quiet, and you can stay as long as you want without feeling pressured to leave - talk about treating yourself. Pay them a visit and you will end up feeling and looking amazing! Also, you can park in the garage where there is plenty of parking - if its locked call the business and they will open it for you. I have never had an awful experience during any of my appointments with Mai. I was introduced to her through my sister in law who always had a gorgeous set after set with her. I took a chance after being a regular client at the infamous Color Nails in East Side San Jose, I instantly fell in love with Mai's talent and professionalism when it came to her clients. There is only one Mai. She is the only one that does acrylic sets, nail designs and waxing. The other women only do basic manicures on real nails and pedicures. Be patient with her and her timing. There are times when she foes run behind and sometimes double books herself by accident when shes busy. I highly recommend calling and making an appointment with her for acrylic refills and waxing. I walked in one Sunday after parking in their garage, YES, their garage! The place was empty and 4 girls were playing cards but dropped all bets when I came in all fresh faced and spry (my nails exuding opposite qualities), explaining I went to every salon nearby and they were all closed. To make things more efficient 2 very friendly girls attended to me. I didn't really understand any of them so I tried to contain smiles when they would talk to me and try to advertise all these fabulous upgrades I could have for "$5.00 more". Being an indecisive libra, having the money for said upgrades and no backbone to say no, left me vulnerable to shark infested waters. They knew this situation and the 2 immediately seized the opportunity and before I knew it, I had agreed to some crystal gel french manicure and pedicure topped off with having my feet wrapped in plastic bags filled with what they described as a "moisturizing, very nice, very good for you" wax. I'm not going to lie, it felt really good. My manicure and pedicure looked amazing (and it ended up lasting for 2 weeks +), they did a phenomenal job and I must say if I lived in Redwood City, this would be the ideal place to go since all other nail salons are ridiculously expensive and not that great and they close early! Thankfully this place also had a waxing station so I got my eyebrows and mustache waxed. My right eyebrow was not as pronounced as my left one but as long as unwanted hair is removed I couldn't complain about the little nuances. read more

I used to be a big fan of the place, back when Mei wasn't so busy and cared for her customers. I had stopped coming often because I felt like she was taking on way too much and my "appointments" were always delayed or service was rushed. I came back today after not having been here for about 6 months. And it was my last and final time! I have referred so many people here and I would never again refer anyone or ever come back myself.. I called in and asked if Mei had time for a full set and pedi. She said, "yes be here in 10min." OK.. I come In to a full house. I ask again, "mei, are you sure you have time? I have a new baby at home I am here inbetween feedings and want to make sure that 1 1/2 hours is enough." "Yes, yes, full set. Pick a color and sit down". 20 min into my pedicure (still no scrubbing and BARELY cutting nails, lady was very slow) Mei comes and tells me that she won't be able to do my full set because another incoming customer decided on a full set instead of a Mani!!!! And this is my problem, HOW!!? So I tell her she should have told me this when I walked in. She goes and and tells me, well for $10 you can go!!!!! Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a new mom with a new baby on a very tight schedule and she has no consideration of the fact that I asked 2-3 times prior to sitting down. Brings me right back to how she takes on too much and doesn't care about customers like before. Once I tell her that she should have told me her and her co worker (slow pedi lady) begin arguing because of the price she told me to leave for, $10! Excuse me?!? I don't care how far (or not!!) into my pedicure you were, this is not my problem that you do not know how to conduct business! I left paying the $10, which I think was even too much being that she didn't even have to remove polish and didn't even finish cutting my toe nails. I will NEVER be back again and will NEVER refer anyone to her again. Sorry Mei, but very very poor way of handling business. If you read enough of the reviews it seems this is a common problem. 2 stars mainly because they do a good foot massage with the pedicure. Other than that, not great. The manicurist I had was apparently auditioning for speed-painting. She was almost violently applying the polish to my nails. The paint job was not great. I've had much better. The pedicure I got was decent. The girl was great at shaping my toenails the way I wanted them. Again the paint job was not excellent, but it has lasted, so a couple stars for that! Overall, I wouldn't go back. Especially because people bring their screaming children into the salon. Look, don't come get a manicure if you can't get a babysitter. The child screamed almost the entire time I was there. The mother couldn't do much with wet fingertips. Worst way to "relax". The decor here is typical nail salon. The chairs are comfy. The transformer movie was playing on a small flat screen. Huh? I did notice that there was one guy working there who seemed to do a better manicure on the girl next to me than my manicurist did for mine. Soooo, if you are stuck going here for some odd reason, then I'd at least try and request him. Price for Mani + Pedi = $30. Also, the parking is a pain. They have 5 spots in the garage they share with the low-income apartment complex they are on the ground floor of. To get into this garage you have to call them on the phone. Otherwise, you could try parking on the street on El Camino, but it's unlikely you'll find a spot. read more

I was stuck at the Firestone Auto Center next door fixing my brakes and decided that I might as well get a manicure to kill some time. Nails Trix looks like any other cheap sort-of-run-down nail salon from the outside, so I wasn't expecting much. There were 3 employees inside and they were all very nice. One immediately approached me and asked me what I was interested in getting, showed me where the nail polishes were and I settled on a french manicure. She sat me down at the station and immediately set to work on soaking my hands and taking care of my cuticles. She dried my hands and gave me a nice little lotiony hand massage, pointing me to the sink to rinse my hands after she was done. The manicure was very quick and soon after I was set up with two little fans to dry my nails faster. She definitely tried to work some extra services in there, asking me if I wanted my eyebrows waxed or flowers on my nails, but I didn't feel like she was pushy about it. Despite me leaving a little before I should have in terms of nail dryness, I still only smudged one of them and it's barely noticeable. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this little salon. Unfortunately from the outside it looks amateur and a little cheap/crappy with the standard issue name and salon pricing in the window and I feel like some people are going to pass it up in favor of something that looks a little fancier or more attention grabbing. read more

Called here last minute because my normal place told me to "come in 15 minutes" but when I got there they told me they didn't have time. So annoying! So off to Yelp I went. This was one of the places open later so I decided to try it. First look it's not your typical pedicure I'm used to. I'm used to the massage chair and connected water supply. Whatever some places are different. The chairs they did have were super comfortable! The ladies that were working were super nice. Cleaned up my nails well and everything. One thing I disliked, is it literally was a 15 minute pedicure. No massage no nothing. I mean I can't really be mad as it was last minute. But my pedicure time is time to relax and be pampered. Not here. While sitting in the chair a couple people came in, 1 family for 3 pedicures and another lady for her eyebrows. There was only 2 people working but the owner said "wait 20 minutes" to all 4 people. NoT sure how that's going to work... But oh well. Definitely not worth the cost if you ask me. I am a happy customer! Have been coming here for a while to get my eye browns done. Nothing fancy, but the girls that do the browns are quick and good. Last week got gels for the manicure. They were able to take me without the wait, the manicure still looks great, despite a pretty heavy abuse by me. The prices are comparable to the others in the area. Went to this place because it was across the street from my job. Needed a full set I wanted a coffin shape on all the nails not just two. First off she didn't even communicate with me their prices. I assumed regular $35-40 new set. I really needed my nails done so I settled. I was wrong my set was $55 not including the tip and to top it off did I mention that all my finger nails were different shapes ??? I have had them on for one week. And one just popped off !!! I went in during my lunch 1:30pm to see if I could get my nail fixed. She said no because or else she will be doing nail fixing all day ? What does that mean ? It's one nail !! Mei has eliminated my huge problem of ingrown toenails in my severe neuropathy laden feet. I tried gel nails and Mei has repeatedly given me beautiful long thin gel nails that only break a small fraction of the times that my acrylic nails would break (years ago when done in fancy Westside LA salons). Yes sometimes it gets a little chaotic when someone in the middle of getting a mani decides to get acrylic or gel nails, and there's people waiting and/or people with appointments show up. But most clients are cool and friendly, and the staff may speak Vietnamese to each other but they answer questions quickly and accurately. i used to come here all the time to get my eyebrows waxed when i used to live at my parents house literally just a minute walk from here. i LOVE the way they shaped my eyebrows, given that my eyebrow shape is very odd and very hard to work with, but she (never really got her name, but she's one of the main ones there) ALWAYS gets it right. As I got older i moved out of my parents house and got my own place across the bridge in Fremont. Since redwood city is out of the way from me i would go to an eyebrow threading place by my new place, they're good too but it's not the same as this place. i've been to so many eyebrow places but i don't think i'll never ever replace this one. So, I did what people SHOULD do which was make an appointment to get my nails done for my wedding. I show up 10 minutes early and I am waiting until my appointment time after telling them I am there and I sat down and then the lady comes over to me with excuse after excuse of why she cannot get to me today. She asked if I could come back tomorrow. I'm like NO! I made an appointment which most people did not do that were in the salon and I get bumped? Terrible service - I walked in and was told to sit down, after about 30 minutes, the lady asked for the type of service and I requested just the gel polish removal and regular mani, while she insisted with the pedicure and I kindly rejected, she still came back with a tub of water for the pedi so I just did it. Gel Polish Removal $5: - soaked my fingers in acetone w/o breaking down the polish which made it difficult for the lady to scrap off the polish - didn't buff out my nails so the surface was rough when she applied the polish Manicure $12: - asked the lady not to cut the inside of my cuticles, she repeated it but still cut the insides and clipped my skin, PAINFUL! - didn't file the corners of my nails so it was sharp - kept eyeballing me b/c I kept looking at my nails Pedicure (different lady) $20: - not bad, she was gentle with my toes and feet, polish was okay I wouldn't recommend this place nor would I come back. read more

The reviews where not realistic so disappointed. I had a horrible experience. I walked in and there was no line so, I was seated right away. The nail technician is suppose to trim the cuticles but instead she pulls and yank on my toes and fingers. During that time she snips part of my toe where it ended up blooding a little. I told her that it hurts but she ignored it and continues on. When she was about to put polish on my nails so was trying to make me get gels on. I said no and it continued for 5 minutes.
