The Vada Pav was definitely my favorite--so flavorful and delicious. The restaurant has plenty of seating, a friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. Their were a couple of groups of people but the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant looked clean and inviting. The staff was friendly. The ordering was counter service style. We took our time ordering as they had a decent variety on the menu. The menu pricing was somewhere between moderate - pricey. We ordered one of their Vada Pav, one of their Pav Bhaji, one of the Sev Puri, and one of the Thandai milkshake. The food came out promptly. I had the Vada Pav first as there what I came to eat here. It was decent. It lacked the typical spicy flavor though. Then, I dug into the Pav Bhaji. The portion size was okay but could've been better for the price they charge. The buttered Pav (bun) was nicely toasted. The flavor of the bhaji, which had certain assorted vegetables, was just okay. It was mild in taste and could use better masala for the dish it is. Actually, my parent's preparation is much better. The Sev Puri was delicious and I liked it. It's a good filling snack. The best item was the Thandai milkshake. It was nicely sweet and perfect to wash down the spicy and savory meal. Thandai is usually made with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, watermelon kernels, rose petals, pepper, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar. Overall, I had an okay experience. I wasn't really wowed by anything to rave about and go back anytime soon. Except for the Thandai drink which I have not had before, I have had all the items elsewhere which tasted better. If you are curious about certain type of Indian street food w/o worrying about curry and spices that can overwhelm you, then go check out Jay Bhavani.

Not everyone can cook great nihari--but this place truly can…read more A friend of mine was in Streamwood this weekend and happened to come across Zahid Nihari. Since my nickname is Zahid and he knows how much I love nihari, he snapped a photo of the restaurant and sent it to me. I jokingly told him to bring some for the "owner" (meaning me), but I didn't expect him to take it seriously. He ended up dining there, loved the nihari, and decided to order an extra portion to go. Then he drove seven and a half hours all the way to Minneapolis and delivered it to me today. After reheating it, I can honestly say--it was absolutely delicious. I usually don't write reviews for places I haven't visited in person. However, after tasting the nihari from Zahid Nihari, I was genuinely impressed and felt compelled to share my experience. This restaurant is now at the top of my list for future trips to the greater Chicago area. Wishing them all the very best! P.S.: I'm not the owner and have no affiliation with Zahid Nihari--I just happen to share the same name.

The entrees is kinda where they lost quality. Though there were many good looking options, the flavor wasn't there. It was way too much masala in the rice dish and gravy to the point the food isn't enjoyable. For example the biryani had giant clumps of masala that were just inedible.

They let us do the soups one-by-two which was great because sometimes the appetizer portions can be so large that you don't have too much room for the entree. The half soup size per person was still generously portioned. I had the Singapore noodles with chicken. They tasted similar to Ramen noodles with curry powder, but without the water. The rest of the group had a variety of the other rice and noodle dishes, everyone enjoyed their meal.

Anyway, somewhat clean, one guy running the whole shop and not overly helpful when asking him about what is popular or for recommendations. But after using Yelp, thought we would try the soup and the spring roll for starters. Schezuan spring roll was super good. Crispy, different flavor, tasty sauce. Sweet corn soup was also very good, creamy and interesting. Now the hot garlic momos were eh... can't put my finger on it, but just eh. Veggie Schezuan was OK but soooooo much gravy. Tell them half for sure. Semi spice but seriously swimming in gravy so just visually deterrent. Then tried the chicken manchurian because that was highly recommended. Another eh flavor with excessive gravy. Lastly got the burnt garlic chicken fried rice to go and it was spicy and pretty tasty... sounds like a better option.

When I got there, they couldn't locate my cake! How does this happen after confirming a few hrs ago? I had to make do with a generic off the shelf cake to not ruin the bday plans but I cannot trust this place ever again. While I was waiting for the cake to be packed, there was another customer who was waiting for 30 mins for their food. Another lady ordered a puff and they microwaved her puff! Is this for real? They have a microwave right there near the counter haha!! Poor lady got a soggy puff. Their pricing is also very off. Not sure how they are legally doing this. A cake is marked as $41 on display, when they ring it up, it's $36 and then they charge 3% on card transactions. How does 3% plus $36 add up to $41? Speaking of ambiance, their ceiling looks like it has never been cleaned. This place is a disaster from every possible aspect.

I am sorry to say the hijab lady at your front desk always says it's closed when I walk in. I go to a different place next door and during this time I see others walk in. This has happened more than 4 times to me and a few other people I know. All the other folks I know who work there are very nice, polite and respectful. I am definitely going to ask folks to whom I once recommended Hotbreads to avoid visiting because of this person. What's the point of good food with such terrible service.
