This review is based on my takeout experiences here. It's a small property and has only a handful of tables for dining. It's a typical small strip mall operation with no remarkable ambiance. However, this is excellent Indian takeout food. Today I had the butter chicken, and my daughter had the saag paneer. We both enjoyed these dishes, along with some naan bread and vegetable samosa appetizers. I usually opt for either chicken tikka masala or chicken vindaloo. They give you an option for heat and I go with medium spicy. It works for me. They offer killer food at reasonable prices and their takeout system is efficient. As I mentioned before it is a small location, so I wouldn't recommend dining in here. I should also add, rice is included in the entree, so there is no need to order it separately.

My husband and I visited India Foodie with a couple of sweet friends to try out this Yelp find. Over 130 reviews and 4.5 stars? That's worth checking out for sure. So we walked in, and it was a pretty unassuming place. There wasn't any leather-bounded menus or modern decorations, but the woman at the cash register was very helpful, pointing us to a few restaurant favorites. We ended up having 2 orders of Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Tikka Masala, complementary rice, and garlic and butter naan. Butter Chicken was a mild dish with a sweet flavor. Great for those new to trying Indian food. The lamb Tikka Masala was similar to the butter chicken, but it had a bit more of an herby taste. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a really great dish, and I might try ordering it at the most spicy heat level next time. The visit and food was great! Whenever I'm feeling Indian, I will be visiting India Foodie.

Omg I love it! I got the chicken vindaloo and Kadai chicken. The flavors are so powerful and exquisite. I asked them to make both dishes super spicy. Oh boy did they deliver! The sauce and chicken are the perfect mix of heat and flavor.

I love this tiny little place. This reminds me of some little tiny restaurants I've eaten at when I visited my dads hometown in India. We tried both meat and veg dishes, samosas, and gulab jamun for dessert. I would definitely eat here again next time I visit IL to see my parents and highly recommend!

This place isn't for me, and I'm glad other people have had better experiences. I was disappointed with my food, which is unfortunate because I had high expectations. We got our food medium spice, and the butter chicken was not spicy while the chili paneer was super spicy. The paneer was okay, cheese is always a good thing. The butter chicken on the other hand tasted like Italian penne al la vodka sauce, and there was virtually no chicken as seen in the photo. It was drowned in sauce and barely had any chicken. I do not think that's worth $14. The garlic naan was pretty good and I'm sure it'd be better fresh and crispy, we did do takeout so it was soft from sitting in the foil. The vegetable samosas were not it at all, it tasted like it had mashed potato in it and that's it, no spice or anything. I think the rice was the best part of the meal tonight. Although one of the rice containers was sideways in the bag and a bunch of rice spilled out into the bag.

Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, buttered/herb rice -- I love dipping the naan in the masala gravy. Wonderful flavors and a ton of food!

I was about 10 mins away getting my car worked on and decided to try some of the Indian restaurants I had passed on the way to the dealership. After reading reviews of the restaurants I initially wanted to try, I passed on them, but found this gem about 10 mins away. Very small place, does have a few tables. Super friendly and wonderful customer service...and the food? AMAZING! Don't let its looks (slightly grungy in the dining room & bathrooms - lost one star) and location (strip mall in between fast food restaurants) deter you! Go and enjoy!!

    Is there a lunch buffet?

Alexis--the place is very small, and there's really not room for a buffet (it's like the size of a very small Subway restaurant). However, you will not be disappointed by the portion size, or the food itself. It's absolutely delicious, and you'll… Read more

If you're considering dining at Kritunga Indian Restaurant in the northwest suburbs of Chicago,…read morethink again. My recent experience there was nothing short of a disaster, and I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment. Here's why: Firstly, the management of the restaurant is incredibly unprofessional. The place is run by a group of young individuals who seem to have no understanding of customer service or respect for their patrons. Upon arrival, it was clear that they prioritized larger parties over smaller groups like ours. Despite the restaurant being relatively new, it was evident that they had not taken the time to properly train their staff or understand the basics of running a successful business. Our dining experience started off poorly and only got worse. The staff barely acknowledged us and seemed disinterested in providing any sort of quality service. The lack of attention to smaller parties like ours was not just noticeable but blatant. We felt ignored and undervalued, which set a negative tone for the entire meal. The food, which is supposed to be the highlight of any dining experience, was utterly disappointing. We ordered several dishes, hoping to enjoy the rich flavors and spices that Indian cuisine is known for. However, each dish was tasteless and bland. It was as if no thought or care had been put into the preparation. The flavors were flat, and the textures were off. It was a complete waste of money, especially considering there are numerous other Indian restaurants in the area that offer far superior food. Adding to the misery was the state of the restaurant itself. The floor was slippery, making it hazardous to walk around. It was clear that cleanliness and safety were not priorities here. Both bathrooms were lacking basic amenities, such as tissues, which is unacceptable. Additionally, there was no salt and pepper in the shakers at our table, a small but significant detail that further highlighted the restaurant's lack of attention to basic customer needs. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was also lacking. Instead of feeling welcomed and comfortable, we felt neglected and uncomfortable. The staff's attitude was one of arrogance and indifference, which was reflected in the poor service and subpar food. It's truly a shame because the northwest suburbs of Chicago have a vibrant dining scene with many excellent Indian restaurants. Unfortunately, this place does not come close to meeting the standards set by its competitors. The combination of poor service, tasteless food, and an unclean environment makes this place a regrettable choice for anyone looking to enjoy a meal out. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. It was a thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish. The management needs to seriously rethink their approach to running a restaurant and prioritize their customers' needs and satisfaction. Until significant improvements are made, I would suggest avoiding this place and opting for one of the many other decent Indian restaurants in the area. Save your money and your taste buds--do not dine here.

Their were a couple of groups of people but the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant looked clean and inviting. The staff was friendly. The ordering was counter service style. We took our time ordering as they had a decent variety on the menu. The menu pricing was somewhere between moderate - pricey. We ordered one of their Vada Pav, one of their Pav Bhaji, one of the Sev Puri, and one of the Thandai milkshake. The food came out promptly. I had the Vada Pav first as there what I came to eat here. It was decent. It lacked the typical spicy flavor though. Then, I dug into the Pav Bhaji. The portion size was okay but could've been better for the price they charge. The buttered Pav (bun) was nicely toasted. The flavor of the bhaji, which had certain assorted vegetables, was just okay. It was mild in taste and could use better masala for the dish it is. Actually, my parent's preparation is much better. The Sev Puri was delicious and I liked it. It's a good filling snack. The best item was the Thandai milkshake. It was nicely sweet and perfect to wash down the spicy and savory meal. Thandai is usually made with a mixture of almonds, fennel seeds, watermelon kernels, rose petals, pepper, poppy seeds, cardamom, saffron, milk and sugar. Overall, I had an okay experience. I wasn't really wowed by anything to rave about and go back anytime soon. Except for the Thandai drink which I have not had before, I have had all the items elsewhere which tasted better. If you are curious about certain type of Indian street food w/o worrying about curry and spices that can overwhelm you, then go check out Jay Bhavani.
