The meat quality is incredible and very difficult to beat. The ambience is clean and near the beach so there's a nice chill vibe. And the service is the best part. This is a perfect family spot for us. When I want to reward my son Vincent for doing good in school, I ask him where he wants to eat. Took my mom here after the movies. She'd never had Korean BBQ before and this is a decent place for a first timer. We came in during lunch service, although unfortunately when trying to order from the lunch special menu we were informed it was unavailable. So we ended up ordering the combo A option. I've been to many other Korean BBQ places in Ktown where you usually just manage your own cooking, but here they do it for you which excited my mom since she didn't know anything about how to or what everything was, so it suited her just fine. She even joked with our servers, it was great being fussed over. The combo A was the perfect amount of food for two people and there was still leftovers. Loved the scallion pancake, it was perfect. Sides were delicious...I am a sucker for the pickled radishes. The pork belly and short rib were delicious. The spicy mayo dip was a flavorful addition. The staff are all super friendly. The restaurant is sleek and modern, fits well into the Marina Del Rey neighborhood. It's nice to have a place that's closer than Ktown, with much easier parking. And to able to walk out and NOT smell like what you cooked and how you cooked it is a plus, especially if you're heading to the AMC after your meal. read more

This is the fanciest Korean barbecue spot I've ever been to. We had reservations and were promptly seated. Ban chan was already set on the table when we arrived. We ended up getting the course combo A, which included seasoned boneless beef short rib, beeef bulgolgi or pork belly ( we chose bulgolgi), and beef brisket. The combos comes with house salad, Korean pancakse, corn cheese, and a seasonal appetizer. I didn't think this was enough food, so we also ordered kimchi stew and galbi stone pot bibimbap. I liked that they cook everything for you from start to finish. Combo A was actually plenty of food since the appetizer was a noodle dish. I loved their cucumber kimchi, so that a was a repeat refill LOL. The kimchi stew was not as sour as I would like, but the stone pot was tasty. I liked that it made my rice crispy. Nampo is a unique korean bbq place. They actually cook it for you, even though the grills are still in the center of the table. I imagine they are intending to be a more upscale kbbq restaurant, but the atmosphere doesn't really give this vibe. the lights are very bright rather than having a more moody feel. the service was very good and the value for the dine LA menu was great, had lots of leftovers. i do wish the provided sauce options for the meats like other kbbq places do. the wings were delicious. everything else overall was good, but nothing outstanding. read more

My friends and I came here to try it out, and overall, our experience was just okay. The service was definitely the highlight of the night. The staff was attentive, friendly, and consistently on top of everything. That said, this was one of the more mainstream and less traditional Korean BBQ restaurants I've been to. I've been to a lot of KBBQ spots, and this one had a very different feel. The food itself wasn't bad, but nothing really stood out to me either. Our bill came out to around $550 for seven people, and for that price, I expected portions that felt more proportionate to what we paid. The portions were on the smaller side, so the overall value did not really match the cost. I will say, the banchan was pretty good, and I enjoyed that part of the meal. However, some of the main dishes felt like they were adjusted more toward a broader palate rather than traditional Korean flavors. For example, the soybean paste stew was much saltier than what I'm used to. Overall, the service was great, but the food and portions were just so-so for the price. If you're looking for a clean, modern KBBQ spot with attentive service, this may be worth trying. But if you're looking for portions that feel fair for the price and a more traditional Korean BBQ experience, there are other places I would personally choose first. read more

Best Korean Bbq restaurant on the westside but it comes with a steep price. The food is exquisite. There is a chef on site that comes to your table to cook your food on the grill. You can order beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp in a number marinades. All meats are top grade meats. It also comes with a number of accoutrements like kimchi, pickles, spicy sauces and plain white rice. The aesthetic is very elegant chic. Very contemporary. Since it's located on the second floor, you can see a view of The Villa Marina Marketplace and nearby hotel properties. Perfect place to dine at sunset. The service is top notch. The chefs all come prepared with everything you need to cook your food on a cart. They will even let you take charge of the grill if they need to walk away. They are friendly, polite, and attentive. Finally - a solid, quality KBBQ option on the west side! We ordered Course Combo A for 2, kimchi fried rice, dumplings, and the soybean paste stew. The meat was great quality, our server cooked the meats for us perfectly the entire time, and we left really full and satisfied! Wow!!! Namoo is easily the best Korean BBQ on this side of town!! The service was top tier and super attentive, just like the level of service I have experienced in Korea. You can always tell how good a spot is going to be by the banchan (side dishes) and they absolutely nailed it. Everything was fresh, flavorful and consistently replenished without even having to ask. I highly recommend going with the set menu, it is more economical and comes with a great variety... including cheese corn, side salad and a spread of meats. The portions are generous so I definitely recommend going with a friend. The space is very clean with a lively ambiance. It feels upscale without being stuffy. Two friends and I came to NAMOO tonight for the first time. This was not AYCE and we decided to get the Dine LA week menu. The waiters cook the food for you which would theoretically be nice, but they were there so often that it was tough to chat and made things a bit awkward. Our food was also overcooked at times, so that was disappointing. Starters: - House salad (very good, the dressing was yummy) - scallion pancake (didn't have much flavor and was kind of an odd texture. The sauce was also very mild) - banchan set (this comes with all meals and was already set up at the table when we sat down. The cucumbers were tasty and the potato salad was, too. Most was fine.) Appetizer (choose 1 per person, so we got both, with a larger portion of dumplings) - dumplings (I didn't try these. They came out after the meat, and they were fried and very heavy, which surprised me. They didn't look like dumplings) - japchae (glass noodles - these were pretty good. They came with beef which was surprising) Main entree (choose 1 per person, so we ordered the following) - beef bulgogi (probably the best flavor of the evening. It was good but not the best I've had) - pork belly (this was mostly inedible to me. I didn't like the flavor and my friend said it tasted like dish soap. This was particularly overcooked and rubbery) - spicy marinated pork (this was okay. The flavoring was off and it was particularly sticky? But it was fine) Dessert - signature crème cake (this was fine. Not too sweet) Overall, I was underwhelmed. The ambience was kind of weird and it felt like we were pretty rushed. A Different Take on KBBQ... Worth Trying If You're Open to It Tried a different Korean BBQ spot than usual, and the experience was definitely unique. We had reservations for right when the doors opened, but still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to get seated--not entirely their fault, but it did stretch out the meal quite a bit. Once we were seated, the food came out quickly and the service was solid. The short rib was the standout... absolutely packed with flavor, easily a 10/10. The other entrées were decent, but nothing that really blew me away. Something I wasn't expecting: you don't cook your own food here. Instead, the staff handles it all table-side. It was a little chaotic, with them bouncing between tables to flip and tend meat for 4ish tables each, so it didn't have the more relaxed, DIY vibe I'm used to with Korean BBQ. I found Namoo because it is right next to my gym! I got the Course A special and really enjoyed this combo. It included Beef brisket, Seasoned short, and Namoo Beef Bulgogi . My favorite was the beef brisket. The restaurant is very nice and has a unique fan in the grill so you don't smell like meat when you leave. It's also nice that the server cooks for you! It was amazing experience We started with the kimchi pancake, and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had golden crispy on the edges (my favorite part) and full of flavor. The food here was really good however that's really about it. They cook the food for you which is fine but I felt like I was being watched the whole time I ate here and it was one of the most uncomfortable restaurant experiences I've had in a while. Even when they were done cooking the food the wait staff would just stand there and lowkey watch us eat for some reason. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt more like a sterilized hospital room than anything and I felt like I was under a microscope being judged for how I was eating. Because the wait staff just stood around us, we felt awkward holding any kind of conversation. This might be a good spot for some people but I definitely will not be back. Update: after that tone-deaf response and many of the tone-deaf responses I've seen management give very legitimate criticism from other reviews, I am knocking my review down to a 1 star- they do not seem to even want to address or try to fix any issues. read more

Stopped by for dinner at Namoo. It's an upscale Korean bbq restaurant located on the second floor of an outdoor mall with a movie theater and other restaurants in proximity. Everything about the restaurant is high end, from the chairs to the tables and even the grill stations themselves. We were seated quickly and selected the course menu for two which consisted of Beef Brisket, Seasoned Boneless Short Rib, and NAMOO Signature Beef Bulgogi. There were a number of side dishes that are typical of Korean restaurants such as kimchi cucumbers, kimchi, bean sprouts etc. All were of high quality and very tasty. The best thing about the restaurant is that the staff comes by and cooks the meats for you so you can sit back and enjoy the meat as it's ready. The beef brisket and short ribs were my favorite as well as the bulgogi. There is plenty of meat and sides in the course menu order to stuff two adults. Course A (Bulgogi, Brisket, Short rib, Corn cheese, Steamed egg, Korean pancake): The marbling on the meat was beautiful and the way they flavor of their house bulgogi is incredible. The brisket was tasty and tender but their short rib was a bit on the chewy side. Corn cheese and steamed egg were both perfect and I loved the Korean pancake! Chicken Cutlet: The breading was insanely crunchy! The ratio of chicken to breading was a little bit off to me, the pieces of chicken were really small compared to how much breading there was. The curry sauce paired with it was heavenly. Namoo House Chicken: Super crunchy paired with sweet craisins, sunfower seeds, and crispy hashbrowns. Decent, but expensive Korean BBQ spot in Marina Del Rey. I hosted my birthday dinner here following a boat ride since it was close to the Marina Del Rey docks and my experience here was just okay. I came in with a party of 5 (including me), so we shared the C set combo meal which serves 4-5 and added an a la carte order of beef brisket ($39) and 4 bowls of rice. The C set combo ($238) came with a Giant Bone In Rib, Seasoned Boneless Beef Short Rib, Beef Belly, NAMOO Marinated Short Rib and Pork Belly. Most of the meats were good, but weren't too special relative to the price in my opinion. I was confused when they served us the beef brisket because I didn't see it when they brought the meats out, but the staff explained they served it with the beef belly and I was surprised since the portion was so small for an additional $39. It made me wonder if they gave us less meat when they combined the brisket and beef belly together. For the Bone In Rib, the meat was too chewy and one of my friend's couldn't even eat it. The portions were all small even with the add-ons, so most of us left hungry. It was not worth it in my opinion. The rice was also not cooked well, it was mushy, but dry if that makes sense. However, the banchan was good and unlimited which was nice. We ended up ordering several rounds of banchan to get decently full. The service was so-so. The servers seemed polite and attentive, but I was stressed when the waiter charged me for another table's order. They apologized and voided the first transaction, but I had 2 high transactions pending in my account for days which was stressful. I would've appreciated if they gave us something on the house for the mistake, but they didn't. The interior was nice and upscale and I liked the heaters outside. For parking, there's a free parking garage. Overall, I probably will not come back because of the price and quantity of the meat. If you're looking for good KBBQ, I would suggest going to Koreatown. read more

Cool modern Korean bbq spot in Marina Del Rey. It's hard to find because it's a bit hidden away from the front of the plaza, but it's on the second floor next to Panini. Parking is free but the spaces in the lot are tight and mostly taken even on a random Thursday night. It's a bright, open space and very clean. It is true that even with a ton of open tables and no line, they make you wait a few minutes so they can set up the table. They also prefer if you have an open table account - not sure why. The service is friendly (but it's clear that they are still training a lot of servers). The staff was also constantly cleaning - scrubbing the walls and tables. I didn't feel like bbq so I ordered a soondubu. It tasted more like the Shin ramen soup (not in a bad way) as opposed to typical soondubu broths. And there wasn't a lot of tofu or seafood. I'm sad that the rice was soggy and didn't come in a stone pot. Overall it was fine but nothing special. The banchans however, were delicious and super fresh!
